Vaak overheen gewandeld of langs gereden, maar nu eens gestopt en naar binnen gewandeld. Wat mooie verstopte parel. Uitzicht op het watertje en klooster. Goeie bediening, mooie bijpassende wijnen bij heerlijke gerechten. 6 gangen gegeten, perfect smakend en juist uitgeserveerd qua tijd en wijn inschenken. Het was gezellig druk. Prijstechnisch ook netjes. Aanrader!

We had a wonderful evening at De Monnikendam! We had a 6-course menu (eventually 7) with a matching wine pairing. All the dishes and wines were truly delicious! The service was also very pleasant and professional. We will definitely return to this fantastic venue.

What a surprise! This atmospheric restaurant is located in a beautiful location, in the Monnikenpoort with a beautiful view. The attentive and professional service ensures a pleasant evening where you are treated as a guest. The dishes were beautifully served and very tasteful. The wines were perfectly selected with the dishes and very professionally and pleasantly explained by the sommelier. We will definitely come back.

We were in the tower and everything was perfect except the acoustics, which were terrible.

Monnikendam is a real find. We went for the three-course lunch • Service was professional and relaxed. They went out of their way and welcomed our three-year-old and served him a small pasta and dessert • Every dish was prepared with care, tasted delicious, and looked beautiful on the plate • The alcohol-free bubbly was interesting • The interior is stylish, even the restroom is well-designed • Prices feel right for the quality Will definitely return.

Phantastische Küche. Perfekte Zubereitung, wunderbare Aromen, liebevoll angerichtet. Ein junger Kellner macht einen aufmerksamen und freundlichen Service. Die Einrichtung ist modern, aber in Verbindung mit dem alten Mauerwerk gibt es ein sehr schönes Ambiente.

After not receiving a response to the review via our own site, so be it. Lunch on Valentine's Day was a lot less than we expected. Price/quality is somewhat out of balance. We went for the 5 course menu, we got a good appetizer, a good starter and the cheese board was also good. However, the entree and the main course were not of high quality, the wines were also not special and did not match well. Service was polite, dietary requirements were taken seriously. However, something went wrong with the scallop, which unfortunately was not repaired, because it was 'easier for the kitchen' this way. In addition, the half glass arrangement is more like 1 sip per course than an actual half glass, it was even a bit uncomfortable so little. A shame because it has potential, or was it better before?

We were surprised that lunch was only a surprise menu and that we could not choose our own dishes. (Here the waiter could have already intervened by asking for any dietary requirements) we ultimately had a 4-course lunch. Most dishes were not tasty, the food looked nicely prepared but the flavors did not blend well. Very expensive and not surprising for that money… too bad… Service is very mediocre for a restaurant where you pay so much money.

I’ll just paste what I wrote to the Michelin Guide people: This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a LONG time and it has no star. I’ve been to Radio in Copenhagen recently because you have it a star, but I was woefully disappointed - never going back there again, your star for Kromme Watergang in Zeeland will keep baffling me - it was expensive and sub par. Mostly you guys get it right. But that you haven’t awarded this restaurant with a star is beyond me. I let you guys lead me culinary for decades! As a meat eater, I was mouth watering looking at my wife’s vegetarian food. And that is exceptional! Perfect food, perfect ambience, wonderful staff… go there.. be openminded it’s worth (at least) one of your stars. It doesn’t have a cocky chef like Librije, or an ego-trip like Sergio Herman. This 50-something year old modest black guy cooks better than most of his peers worldwide. Subtle. Wonderfully elegant. And my GOD - so tasty!! It would border on criminally negligent to let this slip by you! Go! Eat! You’ll taste the error of your ways.

Wat hebben wij genoten van een private dining in het torentje. Echt een aanrader. Haardje brandde en de kerstdecoratie gaf de finishing touch. Heerlijke gerechten, prima wijnen, gastvrije bediening en een echte aanrader. Ook in de zomer is het buiten op t terras goed vertoeven. We komen graag weer terug!!

Wat een verrassing, zeer gezellig restaurant met zeer vriendelijke bediening. Eten is voortreffelijk en van uitstekende kwaliteit. Wij hebben gekozen voor het 4 gangen menu en met alle amuses en koffie met lekkernijen na was het voor ons een geslaagde avond. Komen zeker terug.

Everything about the Monnikendam is excellent: the attractive location (when the weather is nice you can sit on the terrace), the service (friendly, present at exactly the right times) and of course the food. The four-course Chef's Menu was sublime from start to finish. We understand why this restaurant is tipped for a soon Michelin star. We definitely want to come back someday.

Wederom de verjaardag van mijn echtgenote bij restaurant Monnickendam gevierd. Het weer was helaas minder dan vorig jaar, dus we moesten binnen zitten. Het restaurant heeft geen menukaart, maar je kan kiezen tussen 4, 5 en 6 gangen diner met eventueel een extra entree van serranoham. Net als vorig jaar was de kwaliteit bijzonder goed, telkenmale werden we verrast met bijzondere gerechten, vergezeld met een lekker glas wijn, dit jaar uit diverse streken in Spanje. Helaas was de bediening iets minder, omdat de voorkeuren onjuist werden uitgeserveerd, terwijl drie gastdames op 6 tafeltjes ruim voldoende zou moeten zijn. De rekening was aan de hoge kant, maar in goede verhouding met de kwaliteit! Volgend jaar weer!!

Very tasty food, good atmosphere and professional and friendly service. No hassle with cards and the like, just a chef's menu. A few extra options (cheese board instead of dessert and an extra amuse). We went for 6 courses with a bob arrangement. Definitely go here again!

We had a fantastic evening yesterday at Monnikendam restaurant. The food was indescribably delicious and the service very friendly. The location is also special. A real wow effect. We went home very satisfied :)

This is one of those places where after you get a little taste bite, compliments from the kitchen, that you realize there's a team in that kitchen that just loves food. The flavors, textures and wines to match all show that the entire staff at this restaurant wants to provide an excellent culinary experience. They now serve a taste menu only. 4 to 6 courses with wines if you choose to do so. They cater well to all allergies and diet options, and the entire staff delivers a great dining experience. The staff knows what they're serving and the sommelier loves to talk food & wine and even tea.

Ate here tonight for my birthday. This restaurant had been on our list for a long time, but restaurants costing 100 euros plus always come to our attention a little later. But having a leap year birthday is worth a special dinner. So we went! We loved the setting of the restaurant, as well as the atmosphere and the welcome by the staff. The dishes are prepared with great care. True explosions of taste that look like works of art. Yet something happened that didn't make us happy. The birthday boy received a delicious sole as a main course. In these types of restaurants, these are of course tasty small quantities and not whole fish. However... from the first bite to the last bite a mouth full of bones. This made it difficult to really taste the fish. Please note that this is a small piece of fish and it concerns the main course. Reported to the waitress. She would take it up with the cook. A good restaurant is only really good if it knows how to properly deal with a complaint. We were curious. Didn't hear anything back from the waitress, not even with the bill. Then start inquiring yourself. The person who helped us was an intern and should have told us that there were bones in the fish. Due to the busyness, you may have forgotten to say something and forgot to report back to us. We personally think it's a cool answer. When you eat in such an expensive restaurant you don't expect a piece of fish full of bones as a main course. They should have filleted it. There was also no fillet knife next to the plate. So we believe our complaint has not been properly heard and handled. That could really be different. Certainly commercially speaking. This means that we will not come back and we will share this experience with others. A real shame! Furthermore, we had an excellent meal. But one star less for the bones and one star less for the handling/taking of our complaint seriously.

They don't have draft beer. And 1 of the 6 courses is a spoon, so not really food. Which is a bit of a shame

Een mooi klein restaurant. Tafels waren prachtig gedekt. We werden hartelijk ontvangen en mochten zelf een tafeltje kiezen. Het 6 gangen menu was heerlijk! Echt kleine schilderijtjes met heel veel smaak. De bijpassende wijnen waren ook heerlijk en kregen er veel interessante informatie over. We hebben echt genoten!

A gem of a place, passed by so many times and finally made a reservation. The outdoor terrace overlooks the Muurhuizen. Excellent service and the surprise menu of unprecedented high culinary quality. A sublime dining experience you will never forget!

Onze ervaring bij de Monnikendam was uitzonderlijk. Het menu is speciaal aangepast naar onze wensen (beter gezegd, mijn wensen, ik ben de moeilijke eter...) Iedere keer weer, is het een traktatie om te mogen dineren of lunchen onder de indrukwekkende, monumentale poorten van De Monnikendam. Het eten en de service is van topkwaliteit en we kijken er naar uit om er snel weer terug te keren.

Heerlijk buiten gegeten. Wat zaten we mooi aan het water, met uitzicht op de gewelven. Het eten was fantastisch, we zijn uitstekend verzorgd. Genieten!

Het was een perfecte avond op het terras en het was puur verwennerij. Wij genoten van de gerechten zowel qua smaak als presentatie. Echt een restaurant om naar terug te gaan als er een familiefeestje te vieren is.

Fantastische plek om te eten. Gastronomische verwennerij, ontspannen sfeer en een zeer deskundige en vriendelijke bediening. We hebben een geweldige avond gehad.

Alleen al de locatie is top. Mooi terras waar je al onder het genot van een drankje helemaal kan genieten. Dan krijg je er ook nog fijn personeel bij met een geweldige service, een uitstekende keuken en sommelier. Private dining in de Riddertoren zeer aan te bevelen voor een ieder die houdt van genieten en van zijn/haar partner. Komen absoluut nog eens terug.

Onvergetelijke ervaring voor ons huwelijksjubileum met de kinderen. Kwalitatief op sterrenniveau. Zeer servicegericht. Iets bijzonders en met alle allergieen en wensen wordt rekening gehouden. Zeer goede alcoholvrije bubbels ook.

Mooie ontdekking op de zondagmiddag. Heerlijk gegeten in een mooie, intieme setting. Prachtige verse gerechten en een fijne wijnkaart. Helemaal goed! Komen zeker terug!

Mooie ontdekking in Amersfoort! Waren op zoek naar een restaurant dat op zondagmiddag voor de lunch meer serveert dan een broodje of een salade. Super vriendelijke ontvangst en voortreffelijk gegeten. Van amuse tot hoofdgerecht helemaal goed. Fijne wijnkaart ook. Jammer dat het zo rustig was in de zaak maar dat maakt het wel ook wel weer intiem. Prijs ook helemaal orde. Een onbeperkt waterarrangement (plat en bruis) voor 3 eur pp zie je niet vaak. Gaan hier zeker terugkomen!

Ik vind het echt het beste restaurant van Amersfoort Was voor mij al weer de 9e keer dat ik ging maar steeds weer een enorm feest. Deze keer gingen we voor een 6 gangen lunch. Maar die verschilde niet van het avond diner. Goede wijn. En vriendelijk personeel. De enige aantekening die ik heb is dat het niet echt duidelijk is van te voren waar je allemaal voor betaald. Maar dat is een kleine aantekening.die niet in contrast staat met het geheel.

Wat een goddelijke ervaring is het toch telkens weer in restaurant de Monnikendam! Vriendelijke, bevlogen bediening en de gerechten zijn van topniveau. Zorgvuldig samengesteld en naast een perfecte smaakbeleving, ook nog eens ware een lust voor het oog. Dat alles omlijst met mooie wijnen….. wat wil een mens nog meer….? Aanrader!!

Eten heel erg lekker. Met leuke en lekkere amuses Bediening erg vriendelijk en correct. Als er dan ook nog een paar gangbare wijnen op de wijnkaart zouden staan waren we noteer tevreden. Ondanks het laatste komen we zeker nog een keer terug

Ons favoriete restaurant in Amersfoort. Kleinschalig, vriendeljke bediening, prachtige locatie en Richard kookt op sterren niveau. Met afstand het best restaurant van Amersfoort. Mvg Hans

We hadden wat te vieren en dit was echt een fantastische plek om het te vieren. Goede service. Heerlijk eten!

Afgelopen maand trouwden wij hier voor de wet. Het is een formele trouwlocatie, hoewel je tegenwoordig overal in Amersfoort kunt trouwen, mits je daar toestemming voor hebt gevraagd aan de gemeente. Het was perfect. We trouwden buiten op het terras, maakten een boottocht en dineerden daarna in de torenkamer die prefect is voor kleine gezelschappen van ca 10 personen. We hadden een verrassingsdiner met bijpassende wijnen en alles smaakte fantastisch. Het personeel was voorkomend en had steeds perfecte timing bij het uitserveren tussen de speech of andere verrassingen door. Wij hebben deze locatie voor altijd in ons hart gesloten. Zij maakten onze dag tot een zoals we gehoopt hadden

Ontzettend lekker en verassend gegeten op een prachtige plek. Een absolute aanrader als je ooit in de buurt bent!
