We went to the "Mama Mia" silent cinema, including Greek food. A great experience. Worth repeating.

Had a delicious lunch on Whit Monday. Despite the huge crowds, the food was delicious and the staff super friendly. It was also clearly indicated that it might take a little longer due to the busyness. Definitely deserves a compliment.

Beautiful location, and had a delicious iced coffee, extensive menu with something for everyone, very beautiful cycling area.

Had a lovely time sitting outside on a very spacious terrace right at the edge of the forest with a view!! The pancakes were perfectly cooked and deliciously topped (Bacon, Onion, Mushrooms, Cheese).

The most beautiful restaurant in Epe! I have eaten here many times and the service and food are always good. And it is wonderful that you are situated right in the forest with a fantastic view.

Cool location and the menu is extensive. Service is substandard, not proactive. Particularly surprising given the army of staff. When attention is finally paid, it takes a very long time for a drink to be served. When ordering a drink, we indicated that we wanted to have lunch and had almost completed our selection; when they didn't follow up on this after 20 minutes, we decided to give the lunch revenue elsewhere. Undoubtedly a flawless concept, but if your team on the terrace lacks customer focus, it is difficult to materialize.

Unfriendly, dirty tableware, and absurdly expensive for food (something with coffee often €8-9!), a carafe of tap water €3! As a hospitality business in a beautiful walking and cycling area full of nature lovers and dog owners, they are really missing the boat here. Customers are turned away in an unfriendly manner when it comes to the dog: bringing a bowl of water is out of the question. We were told the dog could drink from a bowl outside by the entrance — and that turned out to be a bowl of dirty, slimy water. Apparently, that doesn't bring the business owner any profit, and unfortunately, the service feels that way too. Things didn't get any better inside. We ordered a carafe of tap water with glasses, but those glasses still had pieces of orange juice skin on them. As if that wasn't bad enough, they blithely charged €3 for that simple carafe of tap water. The service is awful, unfriendly, and completely unhelpful. Add the pancakes to that, which are exorbitantly expensive and absolutely not worth the price, and you have an experience you will want to forget quickly. This restaurant does not deserve a single star. Feel free to skip this place if you are traveling.

Severely overpriced and a lack of professionalism Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience at De Ossenstal. The prices are completely out of proportion to what you get: €20 for a single pancake and even €3 for a carafe of tap water is downright bizarre. I refused to pay this, and then I was laughed at by two staff members behind the bar. This was later denied. Additionally, the service left much to be desired. The staff came across as arrogant, and we felt we were absolutely not taken seriously. To top it all off, the staff were sitting on the terrace audibly gossiping about colleagues, which created a very unpleasant and unprofessional atmosphere. Never again for us. Next time, we’ll just bake our own pancakes in our holiday home.

The food was excellent, only the sanitary facilities were in poor condition.

We simply had a delicious meal! There were 17 of us; we had to wait a bit for our food (30 min), but that was no problem! The staff is very friendly!

It is a fantastic and spacious restaurant in the forest with very friendly staff. There is an extensive menu and the quality of the food is amazing. We didn't have to wait long for the food; we had our meal within a few minutes. For the children, there is a large playground where they can have fun on various play equipment. Absolutely recommended for young and old!

We waited way too long for our food, while another table that came in after us received their food earlier and not even an apology. Furthermore, I find the pancake very pricey; in terms of price-quality, it is a real shame.

We had a delicious meal there, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We were initially seated outside and sat there for about 20 minutes without anyone coming to serve us. Because it started raining, we went inside, but we had to wait a long time there as well. Eventually, we did manage to get someone's attention and were served. After which we had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. I have never experienced such bad service before. I have been going to restaurants regularly for about 50 years now.

We had a delicious meal (American and Swiss pancakes) here and drinks. The local beer Da's is highly recommended! The people working here really enjoy themselves, and it shows. Very friendly and hospitable. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back!

You are always welcomed so warmly; I had emailed to ask if we could get a high chair. At 1:00 AM, I received a very friendly email back saying they would definitely arrange it. We went for the Ossenstal pancake, which I’ve known since childhood, and it was sooooo delicious again. And whatever you can't finish, you get to take home in a box. In short, a wonderful evening, delicious food, and very friendly staff.

Today we tried to get to De Ossenstal via all sorts of detours. We arranged to meet 5 acquaintances of ours in the middle of each other. Unfortunately, this was a soft one. Due to a triathlon, it was inaccessible; bad traffic controllers refused to open the road to reach De Ossenstal. Unfortunately, we drove 2 hours and 100km for nothing. So, half an hour from there, we just went to eat.

Despite the half triathlon, the Ossenstal was easy to reach. Had a delicious lunch, beautiful surroundings with blooming heather, busy terrace. Robot that brings the dishes to the kitchen.

I'm not a pancake lover, but my wife is, so... we opted for the farmer's pancake, and it tasted great. My wife had the ox stable pancake. And if you can't finish it, you get to take the leftovers home. One downside: drinks here are also tiny 20 cl bottles 😞

A trip back in time. I came here a very long time ago with my parents. Back in the old Ox Stable with all the stuffed animals. The huge pancakes are still there. And it is certainly beautiful. But I do miss the old atmosphere.

Hi, nice little restaurant, traditionally a pancake restaurant. One of our guests ordered a starter as a main course, but it wasn't communicated that way, so she received her dish first while the others were waiting. By the time the wait staff realized this, half a minute to 45 minutes had passed. The kitchen handled it well; by an hour later, we had a delicious lunch. Just indicating that a starter should be a main course is just a push of a button on your phone or mobile. Sorry, wait staff, we missed a few spots...

Hygiene is nowhere to be found. Tables, chairs, and menu were very dusty. We had a view of the outdoor kitchen. A young cook was making pancakes there. He grabbed the ingredients with his bare hands and placed them on the pancakes, then ran his hands through his long locks of hair to grab other ingredients for the pancakes, and ran his hands through his hair again... and continued without cleaning his hands or wearing gloves. A pity... The surroundings are beautiful there!

We went for high tea, which we have been doing for several years at De Ossenstal. This year, however, it was a huge disappointment. A different concept with too little food for 6 people. The containers we received were broken and were not emptied. The food was tasty, but it was very different from what is stated on the website. Too much sweet and cold food, and hardly any savory or hot snacks. The food was already cold when we received it. The tea was also not refilled properly. It took too long before someone came to the table. The staff was not friendly. A real shame. Next year we will look for another place.

Beautiful location in the middle of the woods, ample parking for both bicycles and cars. Spacious terrace - with a playground - with plenty of options to sit in the shade. Very extensive menu, something for everyone! We both ordered lunch, but unfortunately the soup and croquette were (too) cold. The service is polite and friendly, though they could sometimes pay just a little more attention to guests for an extra drink.

We went to De Ossenstal for high tea, something we have been doing here for several years. This time, however, it was a real disappointment. Apparently, it's a new concept with few hot and few savory items. Lots of pastries and sweets. Almost nothing of what is mentioned on the website. It was also barely enough for our party of 6, who aren't even big eaters. The staff wasn't what we're used to either. It took a long time for them to come to the table, and we had to ask for everything ourselves every time. When we asked up to what age children are counted as "children," we received an incredibly blunt answer! Children up to 12 years old are cheaper, but she could tell immediately that we didn't have any "children" with us. Impressive... when one of our kids has only been past 12 for 4 days. But okay, a question should just be answered properly. Next year, we will definitely be looking for a different place for our cozy high tea!

Every year we come here for high tea; we have always been satisfied. Today we reserved with a larger group, but there was much less choice. Cold pancakes and lukewarm soup. What is stated on the website is not what you actually get. We missed the chocolate, savory rolls, sandwiches, and brownies. We asked about it in a friendly manner, but the reason given was a different concept, and the waitress avoided us for the rest of the afternoon. We had to wait a long time for the tea to be refilled, even though it wasn't very busy there today. What we used to get for 3 people, we now had to share among 6 people. When paying, we asked about the children's rate and were basically snapped at immediately because we clearly didn't have children anymore—our children are 14, 16, and just shy of 12 (turned 13 4 days ago)—and this is not clearly stated on the website. Next year, we are definitely going to look for another place. I am not used to this from De Ossenstal; it is a real shame!

What a super cozy restaurant! Great food, whether it's a pancake or another tasty dish. They also participate in the Wild Walk, part of a 3-restaurant series, a beautiful walk that is around 7km, making it, in my opinion, manageable for everyone. Even with a stroller or a wheelchair. The atmosphere is really nice! A true forest restaurant! What is also very nice is that you can dine there with a horse; there is a paddock available. You can sit right next to the paddock in good weather if you want. The paddock is located directly next to the horse trail of a beautiful route.

Every year we come here to eat or make a coffee stop. This week we also made a stop with 8 people. Something to drink with cake..... €102! Prices are rising here too. Was it tasty? Yes! But with these prices, we’ll just cycle on next time. It is certainly not due to the service or atmosphere; always friendly service!

Had a delicious meal at a beautiful spot. It's just that the dirt road leading up to it is a bit of a downside. If you are in the area, definitely go eat there sometime. Very extensive menu. It was quite busy, but we didn't have to wait long for our food. Several playgrounds right outside, which is always nice with young children. If I have to mention something; the pancakes could be topped a bit more generously (the American pancake) and they are also quite pricey. At Hans en Grietje in Zeewolde, the toppings are much better. But all in all, a positive experience!

After waiting for 45 minutes, I received a half-cooked pancake. I thought the Ossenstal was famous for its pancakes, but I have definitely had much better ones; what a shame. When paying, the pancake was not charged, which is nice, but it doesn't make up for the meal.

The food was delicious, but the service could be better. They weren't unfriendly, but they weren't proactive at all. At least, not at our table. We had to take the initiative ourselves to ask for drinks. Then, it took us well over half an hour to get someone to our table again to order food. After the second round of drinks was brought, they left the old glasses on the table, making the table overcrowded, causing one of our children to knock over glassware that almost ended up on the floor. (The menus were also still lying on the table.) Finally, we tried to get attention for 20 minutes to be able to pay. It turned out we had to do this inside (which wasn't clear to us beforehand either). And it wasn't busy enough for us to think that could be the reason. Everything individually isn't a big deal, but it piled up a bit, which was a shame for the experience. The pancake decorating, however, was a brilliant concept. Our boys thought it was fantastic.

Updated my review from last year, what a change, friendly service, still busy, but what a change for the better. And as promised...... see you tomorrow!

What a disappointment after a lovely afternoon. Unfortunately, this time it was a very negative experience, which is incredibly unfortunate after our previous enjoyable visits. After a lovely walk with the children (the blue route is highly recommended!), we were really craving a tasty pancake. We entered enthusiastically, but the tone was set immediately; the waitress started sighing loudly and checking her watch. It was only half past three, so as far as we were concerned, not a bad time at all for a pancake house. Once seated at a table, we sat waiting for at least 15 to 20 minutes. We received absolutely no glance or attention, not even to order a drink. This was especially painful because a few young waiters were standing around doing nothing, bored. Eventually, amidst a lot of grumbling from the children, we just packed our bags and left. Fortunately, we did manage to get a nice meal somewhere else nearby, but the disappointment remained great... we had been looking forward to those pancakes so much. We won't be coming back anytime soon.

We enjoyed excellent pancakes on the terrace. A real artisanal experience. The extra farmer's pancake is a real treat. But every pancake is delicious. It's cozy in the winter with the Christmas lights inside. In the summer, it's wonderful on the terrace.

Idyllic location. Around the Ossenstal, there was a pungent smell of fried bacon. I asked for sweeteners with my tea; am I still supposed to receive them? Regarding the choice of pancakes: at 3:00 PM, the bananas were sold out. My husband ordered a carnivore pancake; we had a good laugh about that, as you really had to search for the "meat." To taste the pancake itself, I took a plain piece aside. The pancake tasted very much like flour, so few eggs in the batter? Perhaps the rolls are better. But not recommended for pancakes.

Last week, I visited De Ossenstal again on a very hot day. Because of my allergy to wasps, I sat inside; it was lovely with the air conditioning. It was nice to unwind after a hot bike ride with delicious cold drinks and some "treats." A delicious MonChou sundae and waffles with cherries. What a treat, delicious! What struck us was the fantastic team. Respectful, kind, helpful, and always in consultation, both towards the guests and among themselves. The owner should cherish this team!! Located in the middle of the forest, along a bike route. You can optionally visit the viewpoint first. Tasty food, prompt service, large space so a bit less atmosphere. We had the Ossenstal pancake; very rich but delicious!

The gluten-free pancake turned out not to be so gluten-free after all later in the day. It is a shame that there is too little attention paid to this in the kitchen, even though it is prominently stated on the menu that they accommodate allergies. We had asked for an extra empty glass, but it was never brought. The regular pancakes, however, were delicious.

We took a nice walk, with the Zwijnenroute being great for a six-year-old. Once at the restaurant, the service is incredibly slow. If you don't scan the QR code, it takes well over 10 minutes for someone to take your order, even though it is extremely quiet. The restaurant and the playground are beautiful, though. For the prices, however, I expect better service and food that is a bit more than 'average'. The staff was friendly, though.

We tried the delicious, hearty ox stable pancake, and it was delicious but also very rich 🤣 It takes some time to make this pancake, which is why we got a drink on the house; it wasn't necessary though, because the service was great!
