I followed Instagram to try this place. In the end, what I liked most was the apple crumble dessert. Everything else was just okay. The space is small, but I guess that’s their style and they want to keep it vintage instead of renovating.

You step down into the restaurant, not sure what to expect but once in the door you see a small room with lots of history. It’s crowded but with nice people and you feel instantly relaxed like coming into a living room. The menu is simple but very flavorful. Time stands still and you enjoy your meal. The staff is friendly and wants you to enjoy yourself. If you’re looking for white tablecloth and waiters in tuxedos this isn’t the place. If you’re into the food and the people then you’ve come home.

Very romantic restaurant in city center, intimate, tasty and fairly priced!

Lovely set menu and cosy rustic atmosphere, no more than about 12 tables in close quarters, and service was friendly and welcoming. A lot of effort made to accommodate a walk in Party of One. Star deducted because it's really rather expensive, I spent €68 for 3 courses from the set menu, bread, and two wines by the glass.

Lovely spot to enjoy Amsterdam. Weather was lovely so we sat outside. It was a very relaxed approach to the meal. Enjoy the time people watching and the flow of life and traffic passing by. We had the set menus 2 courses split with a starter and dessert and two mains. The dishes were all very good and no complaints. The mackerel rillette starter and steak and sea bream mains were very good, very fresh and tasty. Choc creme brulee was just right to end things with. Service was very friendly and humorous which we enjoyed.

The service was super friendly. It couldn't be better. A three-course menu costs 40 euros. Of course, you can also have just two courses or just a main course. Stine I rarely give five stars and often complain about the food. I just love cooking, and if I eat somewhere else, it should be as good as if I were cooking it myself. For starters, I had fish pie. I think it was anchovies. With beetroot and green apple, it's more of a work of art than a meal. Wonderfully aromatic and full of flavor. Or in other words, totally awesome! I'll definitely try something like that again! I'm going to put anchovies on a beetroot carpaccio. The main course was risotto. Simply five stars. With asparagus, tomatoes, and arugula. I wouldn't have cooked that combination myself, and I'm totally thrilled because it tasted so good together. For dessert, we had apple crumble with ice cream. A strong cinnamon note and other flavors emerged that I couldn't immediately distinguish. Also five out of five stars. That makes it a 100 percent recommendation. The restaurant is in the basement, but we sat outside right by the canal. I'll eat here again next time.

It seems that they only serve menu. The first course tastes amazing. The second course is not as amazing as the first one, but it is also good. It should be better than most restaurants in the Netherlands.

Traditional Dutch restaurant with amazing food. This was my favorite restaurant of our stay. It not only had great food, but it had a fun and cozy atmosphere and wonderful and friendly service. If I’m ever back in Amsterdam, I’m coming here again. We had the risotto and steak for our mains, and the steak tartar, soup, and burrata to start.

Este acogedor restaurante del sótano debería estar en su lista. Es divertido, animado y muy casual, con comida deliciosa y creativa, así como un servicio estupendo. Con 3 empleados, consiguen hacerlo todo. Y Yonde, nuestro servidor, estuvo en el lugar con sus recomendaciones desde el primer plato hasta el postre. Comimos el taco y el risotto para empezar, luego estofado de pollo y terminando con el crumble de manzana.

We loved our dinner sitting by the canal! Our waitress Liv was so sweet and friendly and attentive. We thought the menu was very fairly priced and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. They were very accommodating to our party which had our elderly grandpa with us and had mobility issues, so they made space for us outside so that he didn’t have to go down the stairs 💗

I recently enjoyed a dinner at **Restaurant De Struisvogel**, and I can say that it was a very pleasant experience. As a starter I chose the **mackerel rillettes** with **tartar of beetroot, green apple and horseradish mayonnaise**. The flavours were well balanced, fresh and refined. My main course, a **risotto with goat cheese cream, kohlrabi, peas, broad beans, asparagus, Parmesan and roasted cherry tomatoes**, was tasty and well prepared – a delicious dish with a nice combination of soft and crispy elements. My girlfriend chose the **steak with green pepper sauce, seasonal vegetables and baby potatoes**. The steak, made from organic meat (Blonde d'Aquitaine), was perfectly prepared and incredibly tender. She found the dish delicious, and the seasonal vegetables were perfectly grilled and beautifully presented. In addition to the food, the service was also excellent. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. All in all a nice culinary experience in an atmospheric setting. Definitely recommended!

Probabilmente è un locale sopra la media per un turista ad Amsterdam, ma ho trovato la scelta un po’ ristretta per un vegano/vegetariano. Avevo a disposizione solo un lo starter (un piccolo tacos) e come piatto principale… delle verdure accompagnate da salsine. Mi sono saziata con il pane. Il mio compagno l’ha trovato soddisfacente ordinando un piatto a base di carne . Il locale è carino, accogliente e sempre pieno per cui occorre la prenotazione. In zona centrale ad Amsterdam. Sono stati gentilissimi in quanto ci hanno accolto prima dell’orario della prenotazione. Personale cortese e attento.

Really nice meal at this hidden place. It is a few steps below street level. Only a few tables but really good food. The burrata salad was possibly my favorite single dish of the entire trip.

Vimos este restaurante en nuestra primera noche aquí y pensamos lo lindo que se veía. Lo reservamos la noche siguiente y tan contentos que lo hicimos! Es diminuto por dentro, pero eso aumenta el encanto, así que no vengas aquí si quieres un lugar espacioso y elegante, ¡ya que no se trata de eso! El menú es un menú fijo, pero es absolutamente encantador! Puedes elegir qué cursos quieres. Teníamos budín y comida. Teníamos filete y venado y ambos eran increíbles. El filete estaba increíble y cocinado a la perfección. Los pudines están muy bien presentados y deliciosos. Si te apetece un restaurante auténtico con comida y servicio increíbles, a un precio razonable este es un lugar fabuloso para elegir!

The guests are packed very close together, almost on each other's laps. The food is very disappointing, scanty and not very fresh. Operation is also mainly focused on generating turnover: quickly and on the clock(!). Quite the price.

Great. There are only five main courses on the menu. When it comes to restaurants, less is often more. What they offer is usually excellent. It applies here. The vegetables were nice and crunchy and the steak was a poem. We had a three course meal. For 37.50 euros per person: great! A carafe of wine was available for 19.90 euros.

Warm and cosy with a good buzz, we called and booked on the same day. Staff are really friendly, food was excellent. Would definitely go again. Fish and meat dishes were excellent but so were the vegetarian options. Bonus to have the option of a decent, reasonably priced carafe of wine too.

Had a wonderful evening. Friendly service and the food tasted very good. Wine was a bit sour, but maybe just not to our taste. The restaurant is definitely recommended and is in a very nice location.

Lovely little restaurant with excellent food, an authentic and relaxed atmosphere and excellent value at €37.50 for three courses. I had the burrata (gorgeous fresh and light salad with it - just perfect) followed by the fish with mussels (delicious). My husband was equally happy with his taco and the veal. Desserts were also amazing - apple crumble for me and chocolate crème brûlée for him. Staff were initially a bit slow to serve but it was very busy and they immediately apologised with a couple of free drinks (not necessary but very kind). Only possible downsides depending on your needs/preferences - although not an issue for us at all - very steep steps down to the restaurant and very tightly crowded tables. Overall would strongly recommend!

First off, you have to make reservations. The reservations go by time slot. The 3 course menu is incredible value for money. The rilettes delicious, the taco very good as entrees. The steak perfect and the veal surprisingly good and soft. The deserts however are on a different level altogether. The cheesecake with lavender was insane and the apple crumble just really really good. The place is small and might feel a bit cramped but it is ok. The owner and staff are just perfect. Highly recommended.

I almost don't want to recommend this gem because I want to keep it a secret - but let's not be selfish ;) I booked this restaurant for a romantic dinner after reading about it online, and what a lovely surprise it was!! It is indeed in a beautiful location, nice and central. It is quite small, so you would think that you have no intimacy, but it is so well decorated that you are not bothered by the other tables at all. The food is absolutely delicious for a very good price, especially at that location. Last but not least, the lady who served us was fantastic!!! So nice, friendly, with a super positive energy and gave very good tips about the menu. Thank you!!

El tiempo era horrible, pero pasamos por este pequeño restaurante que nos hizo sentir muy cómodos. El servicio fue amable y atento. Hicieron un precio fijo de 2 o 3 platos, que era muy razonable. Tenía el aperitivo de caballa y remolacha - absolutamente delicioso, fresco y sabroso. Seguido del filete, tierno y bien cocido también la lubina y las verduras que la acompañan. Mi hija se desmenuzó con helado y crema, simplemente divino. En general, recomendaría este restaurante ya que todo se hizo para hacer una noche encantadora y relajada.

Our last night in Amsterdam, and we were looking for fine dining at a reasonable price. This restaurant nailed it! All the menu options looked wonderful, and our selections were delicious. I won't describe each dish in detail, since I don't pretend to be a restaurant critic, but all dishes were very well presented (unfortunately my photos don't do justice to the presentation), each with well defined and interesting flavours. They all exceeded my expectations. The wait staff was attentive, and the atmosphere was friendly and cosy. I highly recommend this restaurant and send my compliments to the chef!

Happily and pleasantly surprised! It’s a cozy, lower level spot perfect for autumn dining. Communal tables so you get to know your neighbors. There is also a comfortable outdoor section with 10-15 seats They offer a three-course prix a menu for €36.50 French focused (meat, fish, veggie options) Good wine options as well! Overall good value! A very friendly staff. They have one staff member that continually hands out napkins…nonstop. Quirky but cute. I dined in July. That’s all for now.

Great restaurant! Small but sufficiently varied and original menu. Service is good (enthusiastic) with an eye for detail. We went twice in 1 week; not for nothing!
