Wonderful is an understatement! This is the best place I've been to in Amsterdam. It is hard to find friendlier folks and better tasting food. Their gluten free bread is by far the best I've had!!!

On the way home, we both concluded that our stomachs were now really happy. It was so delicious.

Best Sunday roast in town! They have few meat options to order from, the portions are really generous, so come ready eat! Book in advance to secure a spot. Scones are also a must and they have the scone of the day to try. Service was also extremely friendly and fast!

The Cottage is very nice, comfortable, and friendly. A lovely place. So busy, too. It's a shame some parents don't understand that a crying, whining child isn't a treat for the hotel or for anyone else. If your child whines and cries, do something that will get them excited about not crying and whining.

After waiting 45 minutes for our food, we asked the waitress if our order had arrived yet. She'd forgotten to put it in. It happens, of course, but she couldn't offer us anything more than another 20-minute wait for our food and a complimentary tea. The table also had to be free in half an hour for another reservation. Unfortunately, we left without our food.

Spectacular place. Cosy, welcoming interior, wonderful staff and the food is sensational, in that 'home cooked food done amazingly well' way. Would really, really recommend.

Great place with great local people. We came here for the Sunday roast at dinner. We made reservations as best as we could in our bad dutch. We arrived later that day. We were early for our reservation. They said they had a spot open that was a table but it was reserved for someone in 45 minutes. And if we were still eating and they wanted the table that they would need to move us to the bar to finish. This was completely fine and acceptable since we were early. The people never showed up, their loss lol. We got to stay and enjoy a lovely dinner. The people were amazing here. The staff and the locals. The food was very good and we enjoyed the beer and our beautiful spot they you guys were able to accommodate us for.

Proper British food in the middle of Oost — scones, coffee, and that cozy vibe that makes you say “blimey” without irony. 🇬🇧☕🍰 Ample space, warm service, and even a toy corner to keep the kids busy while you pretend it’s afternoon tea at your countryside manor. Everybody left happy — which is rare when toddlers and caffeine are involved. Reservation’s recommended (because apparently, half of Amsterdam also misses the UK). For a solid hour, I actually felt like I was back in Britain.

The space isn’t very large, but it feels welcoming and comfortable, making it a lovely spot to relax and have a nice meal.

Really enjoyed the food, the quality and thought was excellent. Some might say better than those I have had in the UK. The small twist on some traditional dishes showed modern interpretation & was delightfully tasty and well received. However a S&A pie could have done with pastry all around than as a lid, to keep the 'pie' element.

Cozy place, good food, not necessarily fancy or gourmet, though a bit small for the (high) price. The staff speaks Dutch.

I took a vegan breakfast. It was very strange, a lot of chilli pepper, very spicy, I have problems with that, no eggs

The menu is simple comforting, delicious, and reasonably priced. We dined outdoors and the service was exceptional. All of the dishes we had including the mussels, steak, & Sheppards pie were delicious. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pork belly, found it dry, but all the other dishes were great so I wouldn't knock them for that. A must try in a fun neighborhood.

I'm not typically a sweets-for-breakfast kind of person but I had to try one of their scones and am glad I did - it was SO good, especially with clotted cream and jam. I also had eggs on toast which was very good, and the fella had an English breakfast-type plate that he enjoyed. The servers were friendly and helpful with questions. The interior looked cute and cozy but we sat outside which was fine albeit a little chilly. A reservation is recommende, and perhaps required.

Wow, the duck leg is phenomenal! The meat falls off the bone. The service from the two ladies on October 1st was superb.

I had arranged to meet a group of friends for a Sunday roast. The Cottage is thankfully easily accessible from Muiderpoort station. It's very cozy inside, but perhaps a bit cramped. When we asked if we could move to a table (we were initially seated right next to the bar), we were offered a lovely table outside, since we had a reservation for inside (again, uncertainty). Excellent service and attentive staff. The Sunday roast was not only a feast for the eyes, but it also tasted delicious and is definitely recommended. Afterwards, we opted for a delicious cheesecake for dessert, as we'd unfortunately run out of scones, and the latte art was also a success ;) This place is popular for a very good reason, if you ask me.

We had an incredible dinner at The Cottage, where everything was just right! The food was absolutely delicious: we ordered some pate to start with and the steak. The staff was attentive and lovely — they immediately helped us with some tap water, regularly checked in on us throughout the dinner, and offered extra crackers for our pate when we ran a bit short. We will definitely be back for more 🫶🏻

Edit: Try the steak sandwich. It's the best! Nice, relaxed atmosphere with delicious comfort food. We arrived on a sunny Saturday morning. The terrace was almost full. We were half an hour early for our reservation. Can we sit down already? Lotte said no problem. The terrace was cozy. A mix of locals, expats, and tourists. Not too stuffy, a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The most positive thing about the cottage, in my opinion, is the service. Relaxed and friendly people; there are plenty of people around so you're always helped quickly. We were curious about the scone, but opted for the scrambled eggs with salmon instead. Delicious and filling. The cappuccino was also good. I saw they also have an extensive (English?) beer menu. It was still too early for a pint, but we'll definitely be back for a pint and an English pie.

We had a delicious lunch on Wednesday. We like to go out for lunch once a month, and this was a great start. It's a great place with friendly service. I asked if there was any room left and was kindly told I'd check for you right away. There was still room at the bar, but we asked if we could sit outside. And they could! I had the egg special, which was excellent. My wife also enjoyed the salad. All in all, The Cottage is highly recommended. Until next time!

Went for sunday roast, the roast beef was stunning and the puddings were amazing too. Friendly staff, but the place is a little small so make sure you make your reservations way beforehand as they fill up quickly on the weekend!

The roast dinner for 25€ a plate really guys was super mid, the potatoes and meat and sauce really was not made very well, the sauce tasted like alcohol and the potatoes very hard, I wouldn’t have the roast dinner here again.

My friend got sick last week because of the mushroom sandwich. It's a nice place, though.

It's cozy and has a great atmosphere. The people who work there or own it were sitting at the bar, and someone was making cookies WITHOUT gloves. I found that rather distasteful.

Amazing! Steak and the Sea bass were delicious

Unfortunately, the steak was sold out. We only found out after ordering. It was a bit disappointing, as we had to switch dishes. My husband had the duck, which he really enjoyed. I had the pork belly sandwich. It looked very good, but I didn't like the piccalilli sauce at all. It was very overpowering. I barely tasted the bread, the pork belly, etc. It just didn't work for me.

We had the two dishes of the day: scrambled eggs with samba curry, and grilled sea bass. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned with good texture. The pear caramel scone was also a delight with the home made orange/cardamom and blackcurrant jams. The service was friendly and quick. They also have a deli shop three doors down that sells even more of their goodies. Highly recommended.

The steak was a disaster; adding blue cheese ruined the flavor. The potatoes were top-notch, and the salad was good too.

Wow, the food is extraordinary here, they made the simplest granola bowl taste acidic and sweet and sour and delicious all together. The Scottish egg (tried for the first time) was definitely the highlight of this breakfast, so filling and full of flavors. Service quality was so good? Friendly and timely

Something for everyone, vegetarian, meat, and the scones and pigs in a blanket are highly recommended. The service is always super friendly and competent. I love coming here :)

La comida era muy agradable, pero no estoy dando 5 / 5 porque esperamos casi una hora para la comida. Había adivinado que cuando llegamos podría haber un b IT si una espera porque parecía que más mesas estaban esperando en lugar de comer. ¡Siempre es una mala señal! Creo que el personal debe informar educadamente a la gente cuando llegan que anticipan una larga espera. Si hubiéramos sabido que no estaríamos comiendo durante casi una hora habríamos probado en otro lugar.

I ordered a breakfast and asked for no tomatoes. The breakfast came with tomatoes, undercooked sausage, and bacon that looked like American style. The toast was okay, and the fried egg was fine. No idea how to cook a breakfast; it was disgusting and the worst breakfast I have ever had. I would definitely not recommend it. The staff was nice, just not the food.

Personally not usually a fan of English food but this made the delicious meal here an even better surprise. Very kind and attentive servers. Duck confit was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The real star of the show is the triple ginger cake. Do not leave without ordering the ginger cake, ideally with a scoop of ice cream on the side.

Came here for the Sunday roast. It was fine but I really expected more (in both taste and quantity) given the 5 star reviews and price. All the staff were lovely though. Definitely worth reserving as it was very busy.
