The place is very nice and the service is excellent. The chef attended to us personally and the dishes were delicious. The five-course menu was a unique dining experience. We had the pleasure of being served by chef Matta Sabino, who prepared an exquisite menu.

We came during the time when the restaurant is hosting a pop up by chef Mattia Sabino Caso. Food was creative and delicious. Service was great as well. Highly recommended.

It feels like you are sitting in Mattia and Sven's living room, with delicious food, a relaxed and casual atmosphere with high-quality culinary dishes, the flavors of which continue to surprise you. Highly recommended!!

Went on Pizza night and it was fantastic, lovely interior with one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The waiter/chef/owner was extremely courteous and knew everything about what was on offer. Would highly recommend!

By chance, we discovered a cuisine full of flavor and succulent food pairings. A cozy atmosphere and top-notch service, the servers are attentive. We highly recommend it.

I’m happy to have been at Mattia’s pop up @otto twice, but I’m looking forward to repeat as many times as possible due to the fresh and friendly environment both Mattia and Sven have created already. This always comes, of course, with a selection of delicious food and wine, among my favourite places to go in the city atm, no doubts!

We ate the four-course menu. The flavors varied from tasty to unusual. Delicious wines are served, albeit at a reasonable price. We think the price per menu, €55, is quite high.

Absolutely stunning. From the moment we arrived, the took our coats and from that moment on I felt like I was the only guest in the restaurant. Personalised service, super professional, cozy environment and amazing wines. I would 100% advise to go for the full menu with some bites and the wine pairing. Sven, in charge of wines gave us a beautiful explanation for each carefully selected glass. About the food… simply no words! There’s a course that it’s a celebration of sauces, garum, butter sauce… local products, everything handmade and super tasty! Also the chef was super flexible with the menu, and was able to made alternatives for my vegetarian friend on the spot, truly appreciated! Lovely evening at Otto Volante by Mattia Caso, definately coming back!!!

Fantastic! Great food, comfortabel but unique and very well balanced. Combine that with excellent wines and great service and you have an unique experience. Definitely worth the visit while you still can for this unique pop-up.

Sorry but this is a very weak offering in 2024. Incredibly slow service. Small dishes. Misguided concept. A “soup” that is a scraping of pesto(?) and olive oil, with a side salad. A small bowl of soggy gnocchi. Something else underwhelming I can’t even remember (oh yeah - salty beans!) and then a pretty lacklustre tiramisu. €55 fixed, no a la carte on weekend. A bottle of (nice) wine and you’re close to €80-90pp - yet we still left hungry. Guys I don’t know who thinks you can run a restaurant but please figure out how to serve dishes sooner than 45mins. We were in your restaurant close to 3 hours. I do not want to spend my entire evening in your restaurant smelling of damp toilets. It’s not a fair exchange of my time and money for your food. You seem to have good reviews so I must be in the minority but this was a very disappointing experience. Maybe you can do this kind of food on Voortureneiland where there is a whole other level to the experience - but in isolation this food, service, vibe and venue is a bust. How this can claim to be a “pop up” when reviews go back over a year makes no sense either. This is just a below average eatery desperate to be relevant in a city food scene which is already awash with mediocrity.

Very nice ambience and good and friendly service. This place is very suitable for small groups or date dinners. During my visit, only the set Menu was available. Not sure if at other times there is à la cart possibility. While some of the dishes were very tasty, like the gnocchi others were just ok. Rather on the pricey side. We visited the pop-up restaurant run by Mattia Sabino Caso during our easter holidays in Amsterdam while visiting local friends here. Our group has been in the restaurant when it's operating normally as an Otto Volante, which has been great. Now, the experience was just very… underwhelming. Nothing was inedible, but just very so-so. Our thoughts throughout the dinner: -the small pasta dish, as a part of our whole menu, was good but came to the table cold. When asked should it be cold, the answer was that it was due to the eggs used in the sauce in the same way that carbonara sauce is made, meaning that the pasta should be cold.. We get that the sauce is cooked on a low heat, preventing of not getting scrambled eggs, but even I manage to use eggs in pasta dish at home and serve the carbonara sauce hot. So we were not really buying this explanation…Also, as a big fan of pasta, this was the first time I ever got served cold carbonara. So it felt weird. -The rest of the dishes were edible too, but we left wondering a) are we full b) what actually was even the main course - it was a chopped asparagus on a plate, served with some potatoes and sauce, which was good, especially the sauce, but too light to be the main course of the menu. -Our group also had some dietary restrictions (vegetarian) and still got served some animal-based ingredients; we had to notify the staff about that. -On the other hand, our wines were excellent, and up until the very end of the evening, the service was also very pleasant. -Unfortunately the service was ruined when we notified (I have to add in a very friendly way) our waiter that we were disappointed, and asked if there was any way to compensate us due to the mistakes during dinner. This was the point when waiter’s initial response was, that we should not come again to the restaurant if we were not satisfied with their style (noted). Later when we were getting our coats, apparently a member of a staff who had heard about our feedback (from a colleague, not serving us personally) needed to approach us separately and tell us how embarrassed she felt for us, adding that we should have not complained about our experience. To be clear: she was not serving us the whole night, the dinner and discussions around it were over, we have thanked and leaving, and this lady had the need to come separately to us, and ruin the night. We just apologized she felt that way and left the restaurant wondering where to get french fries as we were still hungry, saddened over the fact that the night was such a disappointment and that the response to a very polite criticism was the need to try to humiliate us.

Having a dairy allergy, I often find it difficult to eat out. At the otto Volante, they have paid special attention, partly due to their menu being very open to the vegan/vegetarian idea. Exquisite waitress, who advised us on the best wines to pair with each course. Fair price for the care of the product and the attention to the flavours, which were truly a surprise. Super recommended.

Food quality is good, but just really not enough (and I’m used to fine dining). Service was attentive, but multiple mistakes. Made up for it by offering us chocolate and coffee at the end, that was nice.

Absolutely brilliant and original culinary experience! From the impressive homemade fermented kimchi paired with oysters, to the sublime soft chicken, to one of the most interesting pairings - sea bass with the earthy tones of red beetroot and the sweetness of carrot paste. That was to die for. Incredible duck and cod as well, with roasted (?) or smokey clams. Genius. Wine is surprising too. An English white wine extra zesty and flowery. Who would have thought? Exquisite desserts too, highly recommend the ice cream with salted caramel and jalapeño!! AND we had a dairy intolerance at the table, so our surprise was doubled when we found out 95% of the menu was suitable for this person too!!! Really magnificent and also very special atmosphere and decor. Staff was clearly passionate and extra friendly and courteous. truly 5/5 overall.

After reading all the good comments we decided to reserve a table. We regret this. The food was the worst we have ever eaten anywhere. Tasteless or simply a bad taste. Risotto is the worst risotto we have ever eaten. The service was also distant and not really friendly. The only plus point: very nice wine list with a nice selection of natural wines that are certainly in order for price/quality. I don't understand why this restaurant gets such good reviews.

This was the 2nd time I came to OTTO absolutely amazing. Love love love. The food is exceptional. The only thing I'm not a fan of and that's not ottos place, it's just typical Amsterdam now, and I hate natural wine. Everywhere is natural wine. The wine just isn't as good as wine. But the wine we did hit the spot. I can't wait to come back again. The take on carbonara that was Ramen. Ummmm, wow, amazing.

Nach vielen geschäftlichen und privaten Amsterdam Reisen haben wir gestern abend endlich unser Lieblingsrestaurant gefunden. Sehr schönes Ambiente, toller sympathischer Service und ein Koch (und Chef) in einer offenen Küche, der seinen Job mit toskanischer Liebe zelebriert und die überschaubare Karte mit viel Frische auf den Tisch zaubert. Wir hatten eine butterzarte Rinderschulter und anschließend hausgemachtes Pistazien- sowie Jalapeno- Eis (ja wirklich!). Angeboten wird auch ein 5-Gang-Menue für 60€, das wir beim nächsten Amsterdam Trip ganz sicher bestellen werden! Brandheißer Tip!!

Topavond gehad bij Otto Volante. Smakelijke gerechten met bijzondere ingredienten in een relaxte sfeer. Het is geen vega restaurant maar de gerechten zijn rijk aan groenten die door hun bereiding iets heel speciaals krijgen. Topeten in sfeervolle tent die meer aan een gezellig cafe dan een chique restaurant doet denken.

Wij hebben al meerdere keren bij Otto Volante gegeten en de chef blijft verrassen. Je eet hier gerechten met bijzondere smaken die allemaal perfect bij elkaar passen. Het is een super leuke ervaring om hier te eten met leuk personeel en een goede sfeer. Een aanrader voor wie zin heeft in een comfortabel avondje genieten.

We gingen naar dit restaurant vanwege de goede recensies op Google, maar het viel erg tegen. Bediening was slecht en er gingen echt heel veel dingen mis. Verkeerde wijn werd ingeschonken, verkeerde hoofdgerecht werd aangeslagen waardoor mijn vriend alleen zat te eten en ik moest wachten. Een bijgerecht ( gewoon een halve aardappel in plakjes ) €9,-. Veel te duurt. Het eten was oké, maar niet speciaal zoals de recensies doen impliceren. Heel jammer, maar geen aanrader.

Cute, cosy place with nice, interesting food but quite limited menu since it’s a small plates sharing style. Staff was super friendly, but they shouldn’t take plates of the table when other people are still eating. I felt a bit rushed.

Meh, its all right. Food is quite good, service is okay (not mega attentative, slightly below average for Amsterdam standards) and inside it can be quite loud. I don’t really know why but the place just feels a bit generic and overpriced. You can find better places in Amsterdam for a similar if not cheaper price.

Otto Volante is one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. It doesn’t disappoint each dish is full of flavors and can perfectly cater to vegans and allergies. Great wine selection, cozy ambiance and friendly attentive staff. Wish they had a second location in Oost!

Sympathieke en behulpzame bediening. Vegetarisch menu genomen. Prijs - kwaliteit niet helemaal in verhouding. Overall ok, maar geen echte uitschieters of bijzondere smaken. Gerechten waren wat vettig, niet echt frisse smaken

Zeer originele gerechten met prachtige smaken, alles veel bijzonderder dan de ingrediënten doen vermoeden. Leuke, ongedwongen sfeer, voor Amsterdamse begrippen ruim, met een mooie achtertuin, waarin kruiden etc worden gekweekt en een schuur voor het fermenteren. Groot assortiment van meestal zelf geïmporteerde natuurwijnen.

Erg lekker gegeten. Heerlijke mooie verrassende gerechten. Biodynamische wijnen op de kaart. Bediening was erg vriendelijk. De sommelier was top. De schuur met tl-balk waar je op uit kijkt oogt rommelig.

I loved everything about my dinner here. The atmosphere is cozy,with lot of candles and bottles of wine. The staff is friendly and kind, giving you many explanation on the food and the wines. The natural wines are simply fantastic! I'm not always as fan of them (I sometimes find that they have too much of a bitter or herbal taste) but I loved each one I tried here, from the bubbles to the orange to the simple white and the strong red. Ask for the wine pairing if you are a wine lover, so you can try them all! We went for the 5 courses, one vegetarian and one with meat and fish. Both options were so delicious! I personally loved the entré, the appetizer and the dessert above everything. Interesting combination of flavours and super tasty. Ottovolante has just become one of my favourite restaurant in the city❤️
