Friendly but young and inexperienced staff. The location is fine, just don't expect too much from the experience.

We were on one of the displaced River Boat Cruises. A ship load of people on a small restaurant. Staff attempted but totally overwhelmed. Not their fault just another Cruise Ship disaster due to rivers being dry.

The service was very poor; we had to ask for everything ourselves. There was absolutely no contact with us, not even a question about whether everything was to our liking. The two girls were more preoccupied with each other than with the customer. We will not be returning there. I must say that the food was perfect, but if we have to ask ourselves if the empty plates can be cleared and ask for the desserts, there is a complete lack of experience or connection with the guest. We will not be going back.

We sat down on the terrace for a while after the solar eclipse and ordered something to drink around 8:00 PM. Around 8:30 PM we wanted some bar snacks, but according to the wait staff, this was no longer possible; the kitchen was already closed. However, several more came out of the kitchen.

After arriving on the fast ferry, I had a coffee and an apple pie there. Then I went to the toilet (or so I thought). A steep, narrow, unsafe-looking spiral staircase leading down. So I didn't go. I'm not super slim, but not super fat either, but I just didn't dare. I even asked for an alternative, but there wasn't one.😡 I find it an unfriendly place. You shouldn't be old, fat, and/or have mobility issues, because then you feel quite discriminated against. Just put a sign at the entrance saying, "accessible only to healthy young people."😡 Never ever going there for a coffee or anything else again.

I had made a reservation, and that went really smoothly. But when we arrived, it was a huge disappointment. We needed to use the restroom; well, that was practically impossible for us, let alone for someone with mobility issues. We were helped by a young guy; as soon as he moved his arm, a sweaty smell came with it. It just made us feel nauseous. There was absolutely no atmosphere, and it came across as old-fashioned. The food was good, though, but you could expect something different with the overall experience.

We dined on your terrace with five people. The service was unmotivated, uninterested, and unprofessional. We asked twice what we wanted to drink; she had forgotten. 4 out of 5 orders arrived, but the 5th had to wait. Then the fries were forgotten and arrived after we had finished. To our surprise, 2 staff members went to eat extensively on the terrace themselves, even though it was busy. Staff still walking around looked bored. The table was not cleared, and during the meal and afterwards, we were not asked if we wanted anything else to drink. After waiting for a while until we could finally order dessert, we just left.

First of all, we started with a drink; there were hairs on my wife's glass. Next, we received the starters. The two burgers we got were raw. Up to this point, we hadn't said anything, until we had to wait 1.5 hours for the main course. Once it arrived cold, we left! All in all, a very bad experience.

Faded glory. The premises are in need of a week of renovation and cleaning. The website does not have a menu under the heading 'menu'. No option to print the bill. Long wait while the place was practically empty. There were 2 speaker systems, but absolutely no music could be heard.

After an adventure on the water bus with my son, we stopped for a coffee. The view is fantastic, but otherwise, I think there is a lot of room for improvement. The waitress wasn't exactly eager to help—though she eventually was. The kitchen finished preparing our treats quickly and stood waiting at the bar for a while with a dirty finger on a plate that didn't have any whipped cream. The iced coffee pitcher was very dirty, just like the coffee machine, the floor and the broken cabinet, dirty clothes, dirty shoes, food scraps on the floor, and someone from the kitchen walking towards a customer with tools and food in their hand. No aprons or hairnets in the kitchen. We didn't feel welcome; only when we were leaving was the lady extremely friendly. Meanwhile, someone called with instructions about a coffee machine that takes precedence over customers in the shop. It's a shame for such a beautiful location, though the coffee was super tasty.

The food was good and tasty, but it really wasn't clean...the table was covered in crumbs...the floor was very dirty...well, and then the toilets; they stink and aren't fresh. It is a beautiful location, though, which needs a bit more love and attention.

On June 23, 2026, we placed a reservation for 14 people for a baby shower. This reservation is for Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM and has been confirmed by you. We coordinated this date and time with all attendees, with several people taking time off specifically to celebrate this special occasion with you. To our great disappointment, we received notice yesterday, only four days in advance, that you were canceling our reservation because you would be able to accommodate a larger group. We find this particularly disappointing and unacceptable. Likewise, the so-called solution and the telephone contact regarding this matter.

What a disappointment. Yesterday I had a reservation for eight people for my birthday. The first two guests had trouble getting a table when they arrived because the waitress didn't have a reservation on her notebook. (I had booked the table two weeks in advance). They then sat down at a table set for six. They asked for a menu to order drinks, but were refused. The waitress claimed there had been a change in the menu and prices and that there were no menus available. Why is there no information about the menu change on the website or social media? Upon our arrival, the table was too small, so they quickly added an extra table and two chairs. We sat down, and after a moment, the waitress (looking as if she were angry with us) came to take our drinks order. She listened to my husband, then when I started talking, she raised her hand and left, saying "moment," without letting me finish my sentence. The way she did this was absolutely rude and completely disrespectful. Then we were given our menus (which they do have) and were able to order our appetizer and main course. We waited an hour for an appetizer, then another hour for the main course. We had to wait for everything, and getting a hold of a waitress was nearly impossible. Tables next to us were reserved for guests (artists?) attending the Big River festival. All the waitresses (and probably the owner himself) were busy welcoming and serving those guests, leaving us to our own . When the waiters finally arrived, they acted like we were intruders. Two people's main courses were inedible. The rest was average. The fish and chips were so greasy and tasted like they'd been fried twice (once yesterday) , and the kipfilet looked like it had been sprinkled only with powdered paprika and salt, nothing else. Absolutely inedible. I've never left a meal on the plate before in any place. For the price of +/- 62 euros per person, (where not everyone had appetizer or dessert) we expected a better dinner. It's a shame, because this was one of our favorite restaurants and we enjoyed celebrating various occasions there, but this was the last time. It was never perfect; there was always a wait for everything, or the waitresses forgot to bring something, but they were always very nice, and the food from the previous menu was delicious. Yesterday, the waitresses and I think the owner or manager (a tall, bald man) were rude, the wait was absurdly long, and the food was disappointing. Neither I nor any of my guests will ever go back there again. It's a shame.

The main advantage of this restaurant is its location by the river, with a view of passing ships. The food is OK. The service is mediocre. Long waits, which were annoying for us, but especially for the young children we had with us. Not very attentive. We got the feeling that we were a burden to the wait staff. It was the same two years ago, but I had kind of forgotten about it. So apparently it is a recurring issue and there is no point in coming back again.

After several good experiences, our last visit was very disappointing. The food served was mediocre at best. A bread board with half-baked rolls, several dishes seemed to have been reheated or thrown back into the deep fryer, and the chicken breast was inedible. The best part was the dessert, but then again, it is hard to ruin ice cream with a sauce. All in all, we sat for 3 hours. It took more than an hour for the starter to be served, and the main course was unfortunately no faster. While waiting, someone came to tell us that the food would be there in 6 minutes, but it still took more than 20 minutes before anything appeared on the table (and even then, not for everyone at the same time). By the time we had finally eaten, it was almost time for the next meal. Even at the moment when everyone had finished their drink half an hour earlier, we still had to ask if we could please order a drink, and the waitress suddenly walked away from the table while taking the order. The staff's attitude could hardly be called hospitable. There was an event going on at the same time, and while it is somewhat understandable that it takes a little longer, this was really too much. The number of guests in the restaurant was by no means an explanation for the long wait or poor service. It felt as if our visit was viewed as an inconvenience by the staff. All in all, it was perhaps worth half the money we had to pay for it. It is still a beautiful location by the water, but on our next occasion, we will definitely try somewhere else.

Everything took way too long, from the starter to the main course. From 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, and by then we had just finished the main course and the table was being cleared. Dessert was supposed to take half an hour. Then we left. We did have to pay 10.45 euros in parking fees.

Nice spot for food and drinks in a somewhat quieter spot by the water in Dordrecht. We find the terrace a bit lacking in atmosphere, but inside it is very cozy and nicely decorated. Food and service are always great too. It's lovely that you get plenty of well-prepared vegetables with your main course. You can tell that attention is paid to the food, whether it's lamb steak or satay. The menu isn't super spectacular, but just solid and tasty!

Went out for dinner with a party of 11. But what a disappointment. The staff did their best, but were quickly playing catch-up. The starters were taken, counted—yes, she had 11. In the end, 9 were brought. There were no more on the bill. The food was cold. And there was no manager present, because he kept having to call his boss. The toilet was not clean. I work in a restaurant myself. And if I delivered work like this, I would lose my job. For me, this was a one-time thing, never again.

Bad place! Food not good. Fries were cold. And the order was incorrect multiple times. The staff didn't do much about it. The staff told us not to smoke on the terrace, but then the staff went out to smoke on the terrace themselves. Not recommended.

The service was very unfriendly. Drinks were barely served, if at all. The food was cold, probably because it took so long to get to the table. The toilet was downright filthy and it stank. The handrail was sticky. Smoking was not allowed on the terrace; the rule does not apply to the staff. Does anyone on the staff here have Personal Hygiene? Never again!!!!! They better close this place down.

Title: A masterclass in "how to drive guests away" I am rarely speechless, but after today, I’ve had my daily dose of amazement. What an experience – and unfortunately, I don't mean that in a positive sense. Let's start with the "service": the staff were nice in themselves, but at the pace of a snail that has just run a marathon. It took ages for us to get our drinks, and the dishes? I’ve practically started my retirement in the meantime. When the food finally arrived, two starters were simply "forgotten." Happens, can happen, right? Not so. The bar snacks were a culinary mystery: half were missing and the other half were burnt. The main course, the hamburgers, was the absolute low point. Ordered as 'well-done', but when serving, the wait staff had absolutely no idea which burger belonged to whom. They just took a guess – halfway through the meal, we swapped places to get at least something resembling what we ordered. The fries? Cold The highlight of the evening, however, was the atmosphere and the "house rules." We were reprimanded for smoking at the table (rightfully so, mind you), but after the shift, the two cooks were nonchalantly sitting at a table smoking themselves. The height of irony. And then came the kicker: a severe storm broke out, complete with hailstones the size of golf balls. While we stood outside in the storm, the staff sat safe and sound inside, door slammed shut, enjoying the show. Hospitality 2.0? I don't think so. All in all, an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. Spare yourself the frustration and find a place where they actually know how to cook a burger and treat guests, instead of driving them into the hail.

We have had lunch here often. It was busy/became busier during our visit. I suspect they had forgotten about us. Customers who arrived 20-30 minutes after us had already finished their food before we could even order. A bit disappointing. After we pointed this out to the staff, we were served. We were done with it, so we didn't order coffee to digest.

I ate there with my girlfriend. The service was good. But the XXL burger wasn't an XXL burger. It was quite soggy and she didn't like it. I had the spare ribs and they had little to no flavor and had been in the fryer just a little too long. The fries weren't great either; they hadn't been in the fryer long enough and were still completely limp. We waited 40 minutes for the food and we are actually disappointed.

We had indicated that we needed to be at the movie on time. We had plenty of time. After asking a few times when it would be ready, we finally received our food after a long wait. Nothing special for that price. We had to wolf it down within 10 minutes or we would be too late for the movie. This was not taken into account at all. Very disorganized with the staff.

The owner is too busy with customers instead of his staff, and after waiting well over an hour for your main course, you've had enough....

Beautiful spot, friendly service, delicious food and drinks, and a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, there was only one person serving; she did a great job and help arrived later, but Down Town needs to organize that better. Especially on a day with patio weather!

You don't get all the ingredients of a dish. We missed cream cheese with a sandwich and ice cream with the dessert. If you mention this, it is also because the chef speaks poor English; honest, but not my problem. The location is great, though there is a lot of overdue maintenance. The service is top-notch. There is much more potential in this location, which is a shame.

We ate here on Friday, April 24th, and I think it was our worst restaurant experience ever :( After I asked when ordering for the (chicken) satay to be cooked thoroughly, I was served it... half-raw. Naturally, I returned it. My plate of fries and salad—which I had barely eaten—was taken away. Fine, since you eat that with your meat anyway, so I waited patiently for the new portion. It was a shame, though, that my husband and I couldn't eat together because of this. A while later, I received a small satay on a mini-plate (without fries and salad). No apologies, nothing. Guess what, *again* with completely raw pieces of chicken in it!!! So I returned it to another waitress. Whereupon our own waitress came storming over to the table saying, "I heard there are complaints here..." Uhm, quite a few, yes ;) The satay was eventually grumbledly removed from the bill. And no, unfortunately not ‘goodbye’ (she even wanted to discuss that for a moment…). Things can always go wrong once in a while, and we really aren't difficult (we almost never give anything back), but *if* things do go wrong, it’s about how you resolve it. So, here it was anything but classy. The absolute worst restaurant experience ever, in every respect! A word to the wise….

We were inside for half an hour; there was too little staff and the boss was too busy with other customers without helping out. We just left when some of his acquaintances came in and were served first. A shame, it looked good though.

At 4 p.m., four of us wanted to have a drink, but the waitress turned us down, saying all tables were reserved for dinner. A bit rude. We indicated we would stay for a maximum of one hour. Eventually, we were allowed to sit down after all, with the explicit explanation that we had to leave by 6:30. Not a warm welcome. She did not pass our order on to her colleague. We had to chase after this, and the drinks arrived after nearly half an hour. People who arrived after us received the same treatment. They left again after 20 minutes. Unkempt establishment, sewage smell. A shame, because the view is beautiful.

Had dinner with four. Unfortunately the chicken satay (2 times kidsmenu) was raw. Not a little bit, but completely. After mentioning this, the staff took action. But came with new satay after we finished the rest of the dinner. The staff tried to work out a kind of compensation, but the owner just took the half of the price off the kidsmenus (11 euro). Overall bad experience with downtown and regular menu's are expensive as fries needs to ordered seperatly (6.50 each). Just chicken breast with fries is almost 30 euro.

We had a 4-course meal this evening. It was excellent. You could taste the freshness and the chef's dedication. The service was excellent. We politely asked if they could clear the table, and everything was brought to our table quickly. In short, 5/5 because I wouldn't give a 10/10.

This afternoon, four of us had a delicious meal at Down Town. We made a reservation, but it turned out we didn't need one. There weren't many guests today, even though it was a Saturday. The view over the river is truly magnificent, and the price-quality ratio is excellent, in my opinion.

The food is usually delicious, but last time I had the chicken satay, and I personally didn't like the satay sauce at all. I thought it was too dark and the flavor was so strong that the chicken itself was barely noticeable. According to the staff, I was the first person to dislike it. Tastes differ, and I prefer to be honest about it. The dessert with white chocolate, cheesecake, and ice cream, you can't taste the white chocolate at all (we ordered the dessert twice). We've been there several times now, and we found this a bit of a shame. We did recommend something, and hopefully, they'll do something with it. Furthermore, the staff is friendly, it's clean, and they've made an effort to decorate the restaurant beautifully for the holidays. This created a warm atmosphere. There's ample parking, and you have a beautiful view of the water.

We enjoyed a delicious Christmas menu and beautifully selected wines with Mario and his crew. Even though the place was packed, we received fantastic service and attentive service. Fantastic!

Downtown, well, what can I say? A friend invited me there for high tea. It was simply good and delicious. Funny that the tea glasses weren't there yet, and a tray arrived a bit later, but it was there. The toilet, uhmm, well, a round, unpleasant staircase down that looks quite dark. The toilets aren't really clean; they smell old and musty. The tiles didn't feel clean. Well, one smack from me, and you'll quickly get the hang of cleaning here. There was a yellowed notice in the toilet about something I can't remember now, but in short, that could use more attention. The staff? Nothing to complain about, a friendly man who really went out of his way to please the customers.

Great location, but the food, service, and decor are just average. They asked us after two minutes if we'd made a choice yet. There are just too many tables inside, making it cramped. I've been there before, but the food hasn't gotten any better. Not bad, but not great.

Why do you announce the last round 1.5 hours in advance? We're closing so soon. While the website says 10:00 PM, and you're already saying we're closing so soon. That's a shame. You should have given a different closing time on the website. Customers would have more interest. And they won't be back so quickly. So, I'm giving you a 5.

We always loved coming here. But it's happened to us several times that when we arrive in the evening, they immediately tell us we're closing, even though the website says they're open until 10 p.m. Too bad.

On September 11th, we had a fantastic farewell party at Down Town Dordrecht. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff and service... perfect!

What a wonderful meal we had here! Vegan on the menu! What a relief! And incredibly tasty! Vegan satay, vegan dessert. Delicious fries (also not unimportant :)) And also a delicious cappuccino with oat milk afterwards! We almost missed the water taxi ;) They were actually full, but 'if we ordered right away, it would still work out'. Friendly staff. What a difference with a number of restaurants in the area, who have not even heard of vegetarian. Highly recommended! If we are ever in Dordrecht again, we will definitely eat here again! I've been here a few times, and the food is always delicious. The last weekend we were there the terrace was quite busy. Service was overall prompt and good, but some servers looked a bit lost at times. Still, it probably won't be my last visit here.

Delicious food. Very friendly staff. Maybe a little too friendly. The gentleman started stroking my wife's back and calling us pet names. He had been drinking a little so we just laughed about it to keep the mood down, but oh well. Next time just sir, madam, keep your hands to yourself and maybe only start drinking after closing time. You probably didn't mean it the wrong way.

Walked in for a dinner. The place was not crowded. Nice ambiance, and nice view (well, could not see much because it was dark. But would be a great place to have a drink or a meal in the summer.) Food was OK. The Avocado burger had some pieces which tasted sour (old avacado, probably going bad super soon). The staff were super courtious, The senior staff / owner even came all the way from the service counter and opened the door for us when we were leaving. (Thank you sir.) Ate here with the family. Beautiful setting, small but atmospheric. All in all, it took quite a while for the food to arrive from the time of ordering (about an hour). Understood that this was due to the crowds. The owner offered free drinks which we did not take advantage of because it was getting very late with the kids. Food tasted fine but had cooled down. Now we are not the most difficult so we just ate it. Later we understood that we should have reported it, but anyway, the thought of waiting extra was not attractive with two kids. It should be noted that the owner responded nicely to the situation surrounding waiting for the kids. We gave it a nice twist with the dessert, which made them happy again. I thought the costs were quite high for a brasserie, so the chance that we will come back for dinner as a family is not high. However, we will definitely stop by again for a cup of coffee or a snack.
