Mussels far too small and meager for that price; there were so many in there that were only 1.5 cm in size. Pork tenderloin almost red inside, hamburger just really not tasty. 2 mini rolls per person as a starter for 5 euros. You ask for a 0.0% beer and immediately get the most expensive and largest bottle, from which you could pour 4 glasses, even though normal ones turn out to be on the menu later. But oh well, it seems to be all about the money here, because if you mentioned it, it was ignored or nothing was done about it. Regarding the red pork tenderloin and hamburger, even the Food Inspection Service would reject this. I work in the hospitality industry myself and know what is and isn't allowed, and this is not allowed!!!

We had a lovely meal and drinks outside at a table with the family and it was really delicious, highly recommended.

A pleasant surprise. We had a delicious meal; the mixed grill was of good quality, the meat was perfectly prepared, everything tasted delicious, and the plates were beautifully presented. All this in a very beautiful and well-maintained establishment with top-notch service. Compliments.

After waiting for an hour, we indicated that we had already been waiting for an hour. After hearing nothing for 1 hour and 15 minutes, we politely cancelled our reservation to say that it was taking too long (and that we hadn't heard anything back regarding our earlier complaint); no apology - no excuses, so we just left without paying. A shame, but it doesn't seem suitable for families with children. We arrived at 18:20, the order was processed quickly, and the drinks and bread arrived fast; subsequently, we left at 19:45 on an empty stomach.

Drinks order taken, finally got drinks after 30/45 min. Starter another half hour to 45 min later. Main course same, had fish stew... I won't be doing that again anytime soon # very bland, seemed saltless, totally tasteless. Get really sick at home.... no more Turfhoeve for me for a while🤢🤢

The pancakes were fine, the soup was very mediocre. Service ridiculously bad, very grumpy and inattentive. Had to wait about 20 minutes for our first drink. Then we weren't asked again if we wanted anything else to drink until all the food was already gone. Lots of screaming children don't make the atmosphere much better either. Unfortunately, we won't be eating here again. The quality of the food and especially the service is not what it used to be, a real shame…

Neither the spaghetti bolognese nor the mussels were tasty. The mussels were full of sand. Moreover, the terrace is full of flies that constantly fly around your plate and head. Only the pancake for dessert was good. The service was friendly, though. The terrace is quite dirty and messy, and the interior is not cozy at all. I won't be coming back here because it is pricey as well. You'd be better off eating at Toverland.

Very good food and friendly and fast service. Inflatable bouncy castle for the children, so mom and dad can relax and digest.

On my way home, so I didn't make a reservation. Despite the crowds, I still managed to get a table. Prompt and very friendly service. Generously topped pancakes and the best burgers!

We have a lunch deal, but this is not taken into account when paying. The worst part is that they don't respond to emails either. No more Turfhoeve for me; I feel ripped off.

Positive: nice seating area outside and a bouncy castle for the kids. Staff were nice, although not always attentive. Negative: the food was below standard. The meat of the kids hamburger tasted off, the kids schnitzel was soggy. We ordered chicken katsu salads and it had no dressing, just spicy mayo for the chicken. For €19, I excepted more than just greens, tomatoes, cucumber and chicken with mayo (+2 pieces of bread with butter). Disappointing, especially considering the higher prices!

The pasta is bami. It should be spaghetti, but they don't have any.

A very skilled and professional team works in this restaurant. Attentive, efficient, friendly, delicious, good value for money. I appreciated it with a well-deserved tip.

Ordered a schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Lacks flavor; I think you could have a perfectly fine pancake here, but otherwise, there is little to offer.

My husband received a club sandwich without chicken and bacon. When we inquired, they simply said "that's right, this was the vegetarian one" something had gone wrong, but nothing else was done about it. The pulled chicken pancake was very dry. The playground for the kids was just a bouncy castle where they amused themselves, but it wasn't really much to look at. All in all, it was a bit disappointing.

Just a quick and simple bite to eat

We came for the Pentecost weekend. We did not book and the 3 of us were given the option of indoors or out. There was a great atmosphere with performers from the next restaurant. We went with the 3 course deal and had additional drinks. Forgot to ask our main waitress her name who gave us a faultless service. All servers worked together really well as a team too. Thank you so much - we shall return next time we stay at DeSchatberg.

The food was delicious and Rani helped us really well. The location is great. The price could be better, but it's still acceptable!

We had been inside for quite a while when we were immediately asked if we wanted something to drink and given the menu. The staff didn't walk around much; people who came in later got their food before us. By the time we received our food, they were already finished. The food was lukewarm; we got spareribs and there was a garnish on them that was just lettuce (vegetables). When I asked, they said, "Ohhhh, didn't you get those?" The food was good. Friendly staff, however, it is a pity that the pork tenderloin was small and a bit overcooked. Spareribs were large and good. Goulash soup was extremely hearty and delicious. But tastes differ.

Quiet, rustic restaurant in an easy-to-reach location. The music wasn't too loud, which was also nice. The food was fine and the selection was extensive.

Service and atmosphere are good, the food is not. The portions are shamefully small. A fish dish consists of 3 shrimp and a few pieces of fish the size of a blueberry. Fish and chips are a few battered fish pieces no bigger than a grape… ☹️

A fantastic restaurant. We live not far from here and come here sometimes for a delicious meal, so we decided to celebrate our wedding here. The menu created by Arno was perfect 👌 The staff took care of every detail. The food was delicious. The guests were thrilled. The service was amazing. We felt welcome from the very beginning. The flavors were fantastic and Jelle's service was the icing on the cake. Many thanks to the entire team for a fantastic evening. We highly recommend this restaurant. 10 stars from us 🌟

One of the 6 people had to wait a long time for the main course. The veggie burgers were lukewarm. One of our desserts was not tasty. If you looked at them to ask for something, such as the dessert spoons, they just looked away. They did not respond adequately. The lady at the cash register was not friendly, and ultimately, settling the bill ended up with us having to calculate the cost of our dishes per person ourselves. We were told that tapping the bill into the cash register was possible but too much work. All in all, this is not customer-friendly and not good publicity for the Turfhoeve. In any case, we will not be coming back; it is a real shame.

Looking for a central place to meet up with people for a nearby activity, I ended up at De Turfhoeve. Right next to the highway, close to a gas station (including a confusing no-entry sign that belongs to this pump, not the restaurant's entrance), and with ample parking, it was ideal for that. Inside and out, the restaurant looks like a 1970s farmhouse retreat with contemporary inspiration from VT Wonen magazines from around the turn of the century: a combination of Hobbit-style decor with lots of wood and stone tiles, lighting with Buddha-shaped pines. It turned out they also had brunch packages on Sundays (apparently with an all-you-can-eat formula), so I opted for that. An abundance of choice, most of it quite good, but the all-you-can-eat formula naturally took its revenge with a 'more is not better' attitude: sore fries in a huge bowl (which, fortunately, I wasn't in the mood for at brunch) and improbably dry 'zoervleisj' (the culinary landmark in Limburg cuisine: beef stew). Very friendly and accommodating service, clean toilets (tip: there are great alternatives to chlorine bleach these days). Tea and coffee at this buffet were apparently an afterthought: no tea glasses (only coffee cups) and the Percolator coffee from thermos flasks gave me flashbacks to meetings in a community center. Returned later for coffee with a lunch pancake: the coffee ordered separately is fortunately fine! The ambiance isn't my taste, but I will certainly be coming back more often in the future.

We had Easter brunch today. At 11:00 AM, there was a long line of people waiting to get in. If you arrive fifteen minutes later, you can walk straight in (tip). Despite the crowds, we noticed that it was relatively quiet in our dining room (although all tables were occupied). We were able to eat in peace and never felt the need to rush because some of the food would run out very quickly. In short, we had a delicious and good brunch!

We were there with four children and had a fantastic meal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We all ordered different dishes and each one was delicious 😋. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Had dinner with family for a birthday. 6 adults and 2 children (ages 1.5 and 4). The atmosphere was good, but the food was terrible and the price was high (€380). The pie was floury and had chicken pieces from a jar of broth. Sole was the daily special (I was shocked at €49.50). The quality was abysmal. I had Vitello tonnato. It was blue-colored meat and definitely not cooked veal. I didn't finish it. Overall, the staff was friendly, but the food was terrible for the price. Not recommended.

It's a personal opinion. It's good, but not really my thing. Very noisy, but the service is good. The food is usually good.

The food was delicious. The staff was friendly. My partner was surprised when an older couple paid €232, and the staff member asked the man, "Should we round it up to €240?" Sorry, but we thought that was a bit much.

We, two adults and two children, enjoyed the salads, pancakes, and desserts! The staff was also great with the children!

Very courteous and always attentive staff. The Turfhoeve Burger we ordered was exactly as ordered in terms of meat. The fries, salad, and burger combination were all top-notch in terms of taste. The ingredients used are not mass-produced like in a burger chain. The price is acceptable for the superb taste. My companion and I had no complaints except that the serving boards were a little wobbly.

It's a good thing the beer here is good, but you don't need to sit down here for the food. Very meager portions. We finished almost everything on the menu and it was inedible. Fish & Chips: the “fish” isn't fresh. With the tenderloin, you get two pathetic, separate pieces. The schnitzel is maybe 200 grams and the chicken burger comes without sauce, like getting a sandwich with sand. We sat here twice, but not again.

The atmosphere upon entering is immediately inviting and the staff is very friendly and fast, the food was ready quickly and tasted very good.

You can eat well and tasty food here, if it is busy you will have to wait a bit longer.

Delicious pancakes. And a cozy restaurant. It was great that they had a wide range of options for allergies. We did have to wait quite a while, especially since the waiter told us it wasn't busy. A half-hour wait with small children feels like a long time. There was a playroom, which helped with the wait, but still.

The food was delicious. The pancake was good, but the chef had probably just received a truckload of arugula. There was so much arugula on it that we seriously considered wrapping it for our pet rabbit, Snuffy. The service was leisurely. By the time someone visited our table again, we were practically elderly. Which is fitting for the clientele. And when they finally came by, it wasn't to ask if we wanted dessert. They probably thought we were still finishing off the arugula.

A very nice restaurant with friendly service (last Sunday evening). Definitely recommended, especially the square tables are more inviting than rectangular ones. One minor point: two of us ordered rare duck steak, but we felt it was served medium rare and wasn't tender. The rest was fantastic (especially the cheese platter).

Visited on a Monday evening during the autumn break (8 people, family dinner). We had booked online and were warmly welcomed upon arrival and politely escorted to our table. The decor is cozy and homely, exactly what you'd expect from an old farmhouse, although it was quite busy and therefore noisy. The staff was friendly, but clearly understaffed. As a result, the dishes took a long time to arrive, and there were few check-ins between meals to see if everything was to your liking. After waiting over an hour for the main course, we received our food – unfortunately, almost everyone's food was only moderately warm or even lukewarm. The mixed grill was particularly disappointing (the meat was overcooked). The other main courses, such as the veal and beef duo and the spare ribs, were okay, but nothing special. The starters were also okay, but certainly not up to par with the (higher) prices. Another shame: the three-course children's menu offers little choice (no children's portion of spare ribs or hamburger, only pancakes or fries with a snack). As a result, the children only ordered a children's main course. De Turfhoeve is a cozy restaurant with potential, but the quality of the food and service seems to suffer considerably during busy periods. Given the prices, you'd expect more. We might give it another try sometime at a quieter time when it's not busy – and then with pancakes (given the wide selection they have).

We had dinner at the Turfhoeve on a Sunday. We ordered an omelet, a pastry, a pancake, and a salad. All the dishes were excellent. The coffee was good, and the staff was friendly.

We've eaten here twice. The first time, we had pancakes for lunch. They were delicious and generously filled. The second time, we had dinner in the evening. The service was friendly. It was very busy in the evening, but we were able to get a table for two without a reservation. Some guests from larger groups were quite busy, making the restaurant quite noisy. Both the appetizer and the main course were excellently prepared. Highly recommended!

We ordered salmon and a pancake. The vegetables with the salmon weren't really warm, nor was the salmon itself, and we received a tiny portion of fries. The pancake tasted of flour and wasn't really cooked through. Not going back. No way.

They serve great goulash soup there

Nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. Prices are on the upper mid-range side, but that's probably due to its proximity to the highway. The food was delicious, but the vegetables were unfortunately overcooked. The service and atmosphere were consistent and always friendly.

Their own "Koempel Weizen" (meat stew) wasn't good, so I immediately ordered Erdinger and sent the "Koempel" back to the kitchen. The food was fine.

The portions were very small (though tasty) for the price, and I was still hungry afterward. The children's pancakes came with a "surprise" (read: cheap junk from Temu, totally unsuitable for a 2-year-old). It was nice, but not requested, and afterward, we saw on the receipt that an additional €0.50 had been added to each surprise. Never again.

Still just as good after all these years

I ordered the pork tenderloin. The price-quality ratio is really skewed. The vegetables were colorless and tough. Really not tasty. The fries were very small. The meat was okay. For €25, you should definitely expect more. I reported this, but they didn't do anything with it. Which is remarkable when even the staff says the vegetables don't look appetizing. I was here years ago. Everything was great then. Unfortunately, this time it's a big disappointment.

We were among the first guests to dine there. The restaurant quickly became very busy. After sitting for an hour and still not having anything, I asked if it was going to be long. A man came out of the kitchen and said to us, "You've been sitting here drinking for a while, you should have ordered sooner." When our order finally arrived, the meat was very tough; the mixed grill and tournedo looked like rubber soles, and the spare ribs were more like shredded meat and very dry; nothing was tender. This was the first and last time we ate here.

What a disgrace! I've regularly had excellent food here. But today it was absolutely terrible. I ordered two menus with medium tenderloin and got two shoe soles. Then the vegetables with all the dishes were simply tough and undercooked. The service and friendliness of the ladies was polite and good. But there's this older, gray-haired man who's been working here for years, by the way. He should either go on vacation or do something else. Hospitality and friendliness aren't high on his list of priorities. I know La Place across the street is better with better steak, so that speaks volumes. I've been here many times, but this was the last time, but not anymore. If you report something, they can't do anything about it.

We ate dinner with three people on the terrace. Nothing special, but it was good. Some main courses were better than others. The desserts were above average, especially the parfait with Bastogne is highly recommended. 😋 The service could be a bit faster; we had to wait quite a while for our order to be taken. The food did arrive quickly, though. 👍🏼

After a long day out, we went out for dinner. There happened to be a restaurant next to the campsite, so the choice was easy. Although the food looked great, that's not the case everywhere. The steak was tough, and the schnitzel was yellow from the frying fat. But everything else was fine. If you're not into cooking and you're at the campsite, I recommend it.

The dining room is beautiful, and the terrace is pleasant in the summer. The food is good, but not everything is at the same level.

Came here for dinner with the family after having reserved a table for 7. Upon arrival we got the option to eat inside or outside and we chose outside. We ordered the following food items: Mixed grill Duo van kalf & rund Carpaccio & Vis trio Kip salade en kip burger Varken Schnitzel met champion saus Spareribs (GF) Gebakken aardappelen as a side. They have an extended beverage menu for alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. I would recommend some juice options since they have some unsweetened bottled juices available. After ordering the entre took around 15min to come out and the main about 20min after that. I asked for a GF option whilst making a reservation by phone and they said that wasn't an issue at all. When we ordered the spareribs we clarified the allergies and food restrictions, they acknowledged them, and still served a GF person fries. (That is fried in the same oil as products that contain gluten) We mentioned that and the lady took that plate back to change it. From the mixed grill the spareribs arrived cold and the chicken very dry. The other two pieces of meat were baked as requested. Secondly: The chips of the GF that were changed arrived semi cold too. The waitresses were kind but looked like they were struggling to keep up. Before they served the mains we had to request them to clear the empty glasses and bottles since the outside tables aren't necessarily too big. Upon requesting the bill I noticed one item being pressed three times on the receipt and mentioned that to the staff. It took 3 seperate ladies to fix that, yet here comes the "interesting" part: The total before was: 243.60 The faulty 2/3 items were a total of: 4.00 After they took it off our bill the total resulted to: 243.10. You don't need to be a mathematician to see that 0.50 cents was taken off instead of 4 euros. We paid the bill as is, but it is definitely something to mention as an improvement. If this company adds "small amounts" to every customer, that would add up nicely on their part. To add: They apologized for the inconvenience and did not offer to change it. At that point I was fed up with the incompetence and just offered to pay. Their price - quality ratio in regards to their meals isn't properly evaluated to my opinion too. Some positive notes: Their inside area as well as their outside area are quite big and spacious. They had a bouncy castle outside where the kids could play. They have an extended menu for drinks and food. With plenty of kids options. They have colouring plates for kids and their pancakes come with a tiny toy. They do clear tables fairly quickly. Overall I left underwhelmed with our experience dining here. They have potential and plenty of room to grow, yet would not recommend this restaurant to people as-is.
