Restaurant Herberg Jan in Wijk 03 Heiloo-Midden

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the service is exceptionally friendly, and the food was very good. What was particularly impressive was how the children's meal was presented. The child was thrilled to receive "a whole platter." And the snack vegetables with the pasta were a highlight. It's lovely that even the youngest guests are valued.

We were a group of 11 people for a birthday celebration; there was a congratulatory message on a board at the table, and the wait staff welcomed us and congratulated the birthday person before taking our orders. They also provided good advice regarding which dishes were suitable for special dietary requirements. Our compliments to the wait staff and the chefs for serving delicious dishes with a friendly smile, despite the warm weather. We will certainly be returning here more often.

Cozy restaurant with delicious food and friendly service! One small tip regarding hospitality: please replace the piping cream on the pastry with real whipped cream again. The current piping cream melts away immediately into milk and lacks flavor, which is a shame for the tasty apple pastry. Otherwise, highly recommended!

The high tea was delicious, with good variety, and they weren't mindful of the time. The atmosphere is always cozy; you can also see that the staff enjoy each other's company!

Today I enjoyed a wonderful high tea with family. Well taken care of and delicious, varied treats. The scones were exceptionally delicious, still warm and crispy. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

We really had a fantastic evening. My parents had been married for 54 years, and we had mentioned this when making the reservation. A beautiful sign was waiting on the table to congratulate them. After that, we had a truly delicious meal! The steak tartare is highly recommended. At the end of the evening, we finished off with a delicious dessert, fireworks, and they even played their love song especially for my parents! You really made the evening complete. A fantastic memory! (I forgot the waitress's name, sorry! But thank you again for who you are!)

Cozy, delicious, and hospitable!

Besides the fact that the food here is delicious, the staff are truly above average! There was genuine attention and interaction with the guest. We arrived having made a reservation for 3 guests, but one guest couldn't make it at the last minute. We mentioned that there were just the two of us and that one guest had dropped out. The waitress said: 'That's a shame, I hope that person doesn't lose too much ground, but we are going to make it a very enjoyable evening for you.'

A cozy, delicious experience, good food, good staff, just a shame that so many ants were crawling across the table. You can prevent this by rubbing the table legs with, for example, DEET insect spray, or by placing cloves or lavender on the tables!

Delicious food and good service, top-notch place!

Well know easy restaurant. Big place. Terrace next to the road, where kids drive too fast in their dads expensive cars. Food is ok, wines are good, but service was chaotic. They forgot the carpaccio is ordered as starters, the limoncello wasn't cold, and nobody came to ask if we wanted any desert.

I had a fantastic evening at Herberg Jan. This was largely thanks to our incredibly friendly and hospitable waitress, Rosalie. From the moment we entered, we were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at ease. Rosalie had an eye for detail, provided excellent recommendations, and ensured that we wanted for nothing. Her enthusiasm and professionalism made the experience extra special. Thanks to her service and the lovely atmosphere, we look back on this evening with great pleasure and will certainly be back again!

When it is busy, it is harder to understand your conversation partner. I find that a disadvantage. Otherwise, friendly service and good food.

Good food in a nice, relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. The starter was an excellent tasting platter of various dishes. Also worth noting: there are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu, and what we ate was really delicious.

Well, we used to love having lunch and specials at Herberg Jan, nice fish, pasta's or meat. Since they changed coodk, not owner!, you can only order from boring lunch menu. Will never visit this place toll they either replaced the cook or changed ownership. No wonder there were tables empty. Wil miss this place to treat my friends for a nice lunch and a bottle of wine. I can prepare the Herberg Jan lunch at home and even better. So very sorry to write thos, after years of great lunches and service.

One of my regular places for lunch and dinner for years

We had three different waitresses, had to wait two hours for our main course, and three things in our order were wrong. The quality of the restaurant is not what it used to be.

Ordered 2 latte macchiato and 1 portion of bitterballen today. 17.50! If only they were Van Dobben bitterballen with a skewer of alah. I don't know what kind of house brand this was, but what a disappointment for 8 bitterballen.

Ordered lunch, after 45 minutes I asked where the order was, but it had not reached the kitchen.

The food and atmosphere were good. The evening was somewhat spoiled by the very poor seating between two doors in a drafty area. At the end of the meal, after several complaints, the door was finally locked.

Very noisy, music too loud. A shame about the atmosphere.

Lunch dishes were excellent, very tasty. The service was also good, although the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio were served to us incorrectly, but oh well, we'll try and swap ;-) The atmosphere was great. Definitely worth returning to.

We had a wonderful lunch today at Herren Jan! 12 o'clock is highly recommended. We had delicious soup with two rolls and a salad. I had the vegetarian option and my friend the regular. We were very satisfied. The children had a wonderful time too. My friend's daughter enjoyed coloring at the table while my son played in the play corner. The play corner is really great, even with a ball pit. My son didn't want to leave. The restrooms are also very clean, there's a lovely changing table, and all the necessary hygiene products for both women and children are provided. We will definitely be back! Another big plus was the screen showing the ball pit, so I could sit at the table undisturbed and watch my son play. A truly child-friendly restaurant! But also recommended for people without children! Because the play corner is positioned so that it doesn't disturb restaurant guests, if at all. Once again, it exceeded our expectations!

The food was good, but the service was considerably worse. We had to wait a long time for drinks, and the staff often stood at the bar chatting with each other.

A delicious breakfast with a generous portion, a bit of everything: sweet and savory, delicious bread, and yogurt with fresh fruit. Juice and tea were included, and the price was really good.

Before a concert, we stopped by for a drink or coffee. We also opted for a starter and main course. The atmosphere is always pleasant, and the service is excellent and always friendly.

I really enjoy sitting outside on the terrace in the summer. It's a bit on the street, but it's a great place for people-watching.

Unfortunately, the service was very poor. The waitress with long brown hair seemed more concerned with her friends and her own business than with the guests. We felt ignored: empty glasses went unnoticed, and we had to wait a very long time for our food. Other guests on the terrace also complained about the slow service. Perfect location for a (business) meeting or even remote work. There's always a spot available. Friendly and helpful staff!

The food was decent, the ambiance was good, but the service was very disappointing. We had to go to the bar twice to ask if we could order.

The food is good and tasty. It's comfortable to sit with several people. The terrace is located on a busy main road, but for those who enjoy that, it's perfect. The service is impeccable and friendly. Parking is only available in the lot of the nearby shopping center.

Very limited menu, poorly prepared dishes. Served cold: hamburger, slice of meat, slice of cheese, carrot salad, fries. Inedible. Not a single lettuce leaf in sight. Mixed vegetables: cold. Raw asparagus. What a disappointment for so much money...

Friendly staff and the food was delicious and plenty of it.

Good for a quick bite to eat. Nothing special otherwise. Inside, children were running back and forth to their parents. I think they came from some kind of ball pit. At the mixed grill, the pork tenderloin was still raw; it looked like the chef had mixed it up with the steak.

The food was simply inedible, the fish was still raw and not cooked through, and everything was tasteless. It looks nice in the picture, but when you taste it, omg, it's just awful, and then you pay 70 to 80 euros, so really not recommended.

It wasn't quite right at all. The whitefish with risotto was a complete failure; the whitefish was still practically raw, and the risotto itself lacked much flavor. The restaurant terrace could use a renovation; it didn't exactly look welcoming, but rather as if chairs and tables had been placed on the street. However, the service staff were quite competent and attentive.

On a busy Saturday evening, they still managed to free up a table for three of us. The staff, mostly young, are all very friendly and passionate. They work well together, making it a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to soon.

It took a long time, we sat for two hours just to order starters, we were treated disrespectfully, and at the end we even received the wrong receipt with about €200 extra for food. I don't know if they were trying to rip us off or if this was a mistake...

We had a delicious lunch here. There was plenty of choice, including good vegetarian and vegan options. The bread tasted fresh, as did the ingredients. It was truly delicious! The service was fast, and the food was ready quickly. My only tip is to come back for drinks. It wasn't very busy, but we were only asked once if we wanted a drink, even though we finished ours quickly and were still there for a while. Otherwise, it was a very positive experience.

Definitely not what it used to be. The food is okay, but the service isn't anything to write home about. Order two satays. One comes with salad and extra sauce (garlic), which makes me wonder what that should be on. And the other plate is missing the salad and sauce... oh, sorry, I forgot. They put the food down in front of you. No, maybe I'm old-fashioned, but restaurants also have labels. So, for me, a no-go.

Great restaurant but boy oh boy did we have to wait a long time before we could order while it wasn't super busy. They were mainly busy chatting with each other, too bad!

Enjoyed a cup of coffee in the sun and a 12 hour break from Jan. Carpaccio sandwich, cup of soup and a salad. Atmosphere was relaxed and staff friendly.

After sitting at a full table for 20 minutes, someone finally walked by. I had to ask the lady in question if I could order from her. Between the sighs and bored looks, there was an opportunity for that. I placed the empty cups and saucers on the table next to me, which was also full of crockery. After another fifteen minutes the table was cleared. I spent a total of 90 minutes there and only saw someone for service twice. Truly unacceptable. The staff would rather stand behind the bar doing nothing than please their guests.

There were just too few staff to get their attention during lunch, but walking to the bar when someone was there quickly resolved that. The food was then delicious; we had the Green sandwich and the Korean sandwich.

We recently had lunch at Restaurant Herberg Jan. The restaurant offers some gluten-free options or can adapt the dishes to be gluten-free for an additional charge. However, the additional cost is quite high in relation to what you get. The sandwiches are also quite sparsely filled, which makes the apparently good price somewhat disappointing.

One young man allowed us to choose our table, so we did and sat down. When we had already been seated for 10 minutes, we were taken away under the guise that this table had been reserved. So there was no reserved sign on that table. We said that and the girl said it was occupied anyway, really bizarrely strange. in a very unpleasant way she announced that we had to move to another table even though we had reserved for inside! SO RUDE! This happened even though we had reserved online in advance. My husband had finished eating his plate was removed just fine. I was still eating, I WAS HALFWAY MY MEAL. There was half a meal on my plate and twice my plate was almost taken away without asking if I was ready yet. I've never experienced this before. Unfriendly, incompetent and ill-mannered staff walking around there. Bagger! Too bad for them but I will never go there again😡

We often have dinner here before a performance in De Beun. The restaurant has a delicious and price-friendly theater menu, where they ensure that you are ready on time.

Herberg Jan is a cozy restaurant for young and old. Fantastic dishes and friendly and knowledgeable (young) people who are your table lord/lady. Highly recommended, be surprised (just like we did :-)

Took 12 hours. Soup tasted like curry powder; too overpowering and bowl of salad, no taste at all. Nice location but food is not recommended, brrrrr

Very nice, the vegetables were a bit too al dente but that didn't detract from the fun evening out.

Ate here with my husband and parents, it was okay, not very special and actually a bit too little. The men had the sirloin steak but that was really not enough and my mother and I had the fish salad which was tasty. We think it's very expensive for what you get. We sat next to a group that was extremely loud, which really didn't make it easy to talk to. The service took a very long time before we could order, at one point my husband had placed the blackboard with the menu in such a way that the service really walked past you so that you could take your order, after which the service came by ours several times. table. A bit disappointed next time will go to another restaurant. It is really hard to find a restaurant where you can eat well and where the service looks after you, but if you spend 150+ you should get that.

We celebrated our 12.5 year wedding anniversary in the upstairs room and it was absolutely fantastic! We had good contact in advance about the specific wishes, a very attractive room and excellent staff. We invited 60 people and - together with a band + dance floor - that was a great fit. It was also good in terms of acoustics. The stairs are less accessible for the elderly/people with reduced mobility, but there is also an elevator. The band members were allowed to use these during setup and disassembly. We enjoyed it immensely! Highly recommended!
