Had a nice meal, except for the starter. Melon with ham, but the melon was not ripe so it was very hard and lacked flavor.

Always good quality and service. The restaurant is also a pleasant place to sit. Good salad bar too.

Had a delicious meal here after a few hours of walking. Luckily for me, they still had mussels (in beer) on Saturday too – delicious! Fast and friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I have been regularly ordering a spareribs menu for years. The quality is declining rapidly. Today was a disappointment. The ribs were partially burnt. The thick, seasoned fries had suddenly turned into thin, poorly seasoned, and limp fries. I have been bothered by the salad for a while now; it gets smaller and worse every time I pick up an order. In the past, you would get a nicely varied salad and a reasonable portion; nowadays, it is half a container of poorly cut coleslaw (white cabbage/grated carrots and some raisins). I don't know what is going on, Hertog Jan, but it is time for improvement because the prices have also gone up considerably. I can somewhat understand the price increases, but not the declining quality.

We ate here some time ago. The next day we became ill due to a (confirmed) norovirus infection. We reported this to the restaurant; it turned out that several guests had become ill. The restaurant reportedly had the food tested, and it turned out that was not the cause. According to the restaurant, it was most likely that the virus had been spread by other guests via the toilet. For that reason, the restaurant felt that they were not responsible for this. Since then, we no longer go there. Response to the owner's comment below: Thank you for your response. It is good that you now realize that the comment in question was inappropriate. But unfortunately, that is how it happened. So, unfortunately, the review was indeed intended for you.

Had a delicious meal. The food was of good quality and fresh. Super friendly and patient service. Relaxed atmosphere, and when I asked which glass of Tempranillo I was actually drinking, the bottle was immediately brought out to show me. Very good!

The reservation was very ad hoc. Our little dog was allowed to come along, and she was incredibly helpful with a really difficult allergy (which I have).

Everything was in tip-top order, even at 9 pm the service was good and fresh.

I've eaten here a few times now. What is really great is the 'double' menu. This means you can find all dishes in a smaller version as well, allowing you to try more dishes. What is also fantastic is the hospitality of the staff. They are also very helpful when you mention allergies.

On Carnival Sunday, before the parade, we had coffee at Hertog Jan. It was nice that we could wait inside for the parade. Delicious cappuccino and latte. The menu looks good. We might eat here sometime soon. P.S.: No food rating because we didn't eat anything.

The food is very good. Service is, as in many places, a bit less. They do their best but it was a bit messy. Maybe an idea to take the order digitally. Then the receipt states exactly which table it should be. There was quite a misunderstanding about that. But definitely worth going back again

Cosy restaurant. Delicious food and affordable. Unfortunately today it was a bit less good. Ordered asparagus with salmon, unfortunately the asparagus were still hard and tough, not easy to chew. We indicated that, and it was correct that something had gone wrong during pre-cooking. But because no one else had complained about this, there was nothing wrong. Sorry but asparagus should be buttery tender, they should melt in your mouth. Hamburger was very bland. Maybe the chef had an off day today, it can happen, but not nice.

Called super late and they left the kitchen open for us. Even though we were almost the last after an obviously busy day we still got tip service AND delicious food!

Spare ribs were bad, service was mediocre and dessert was way too expensive for what it is.

Wij waren met een grote groep voor ons jaarlijks etentje. Het eten was redelijk tot goed maar je moet betalen voor een fles water. Er waren geen warme groenten bij het eten. Maar ook als je extra frietjes besteld moet je daar voor betalen. Het salade buffet stelt niet zo veel voor. Als afsluiting een kopje koffie maar schrik niet. het is iets meer dan een vingerhoedje en daar betaal je dan € 3.00 voor. Als je er iets van zegt is het antwoord dat de machine zo is afgesteld en daar kunnen ze niets aan doen. Volgens mij kun je de machine toch gewoon anders afstellen, of heb ik dat mis ? Voor mij geen plek om nog eens terug te gaan.

Really nice, welcoming staff. They serve delicious vegetarian food options and the location is great for an after-dinner walk. It's pricey but I didn't feel like I got scammed, completely worth it! Extra points for having my phone handed to me immediately after I walked out of the place without it and ran back half an hour later in a panic.

Had a lovely meal with a colleague. It was still a bit early in the evening, but the place exudes cosiness. The staff was very friendly. It quickly filled up with other guests, despite it being a weekday. The food was there quickly and tasted delicious. The warm towels after dinner are really very nice.

Always good food! This time I only had a starter with salmon tartare. Food and drink evening. Was delicious! Visproeverij has various fish dishes together. Looked very nice too. We also ate various warm rolls with herb butter or aioli beforehand. Also worth it. Staff always friendly and the interior has a luxurious appearance. Of course, you mainly go there to eat spare ribs, because they remain the tastiest there!

Update Jan. 25: Another delicious meal. And what stands out inside is the good acoustics! You can hear each other well even though it was pleasantly busy. This is thanks to "reverberation dampening plates" on the ceiling. Delicious satay and chicken thighs. Cozy terrace. Cheerful service.

Delicious meal and good service We walked into the restaurant around 7:30 on a Sunday evening. It was quite full, but we were able to reserve a table for half an hour later, which was very nice. We chose the Hertog Jan skewer with deliciously tender pieces of meat and a perfect combination of flavors. Definitely recommended! The staff was friendly and took into account allergies, which we really appreciated. The only thing that was less pleasant is that after the food was served, we got the feeling that our time was limited, as if we were in a hurry. Nevertheless, it was certainly a pleasant experience, especially because of the delicious food and attentive service!

Had dinner yesterday at Duke Jan. 4man been there often in the past, especially spare ribs. a lot has changed salad bar simple and not really tasty. When you come in you smell a fishy smell that you don't smell when it is fresh? starter not tasty shrimp cocktail bad. 3 shrimps and the rest a mixture of surimi crabstick and 2 tomatoes. everything just on the edge price quality is not in proportion. We think the restaurant has become very bad in the past. Shame.

we had to wait a long time for the main course. because we had a starter the waiting time was very long. unfortunately this was not communicated. would have avoided a lot of annoyance. quality of food was good, although the "bound" soup was very thin. If anyone has difficulty walking, please make this known in advance. there are many steps up and down if you are assigned a place in the garden.

Great restaurant. The staff is very friendly and correct and knows its customers. It is noticeable that the staff is enjoying themselves. There is an extensive menu with something for everyone, including children. You can choose from a 3-4-5 course menu or à la carte. And I can never choose, there are so many goodies on it 😋 and you can also use a salad bar. Extensive beer and wine lists and a choice of something tasty with your coffee. When the weather is nice there is room to sit in the sheltered patio. Highly recommended, I come there at least once a month.

Kwamen pas laat binnen met 2 volwassenen en 2 kinderen en werden zeer gastvrij ontvangen. Heerlijk gegeten en aandacht voor de kinderen. Echt een aanrader!

A good restaurant with a lot of choice

In short, I really recommend the restaurant. For the appetizer I ordered a Tomato soup: it was a small soup in a glass, I would expect more fancy serving than only a glass of simple soup! For the main course I ordered the prawn 🦐, that was amazing in taste, however I needed to clean them by my hands that was not really convenient but in general that was a great course that I had. I really recommend the dish. For the dessert also, I ordered a brownie cake that was really good. I asked a tea that they provided for me as well. In general the food was really delicious, except the soup and the serving time was a bit too long for us (more than 2 hours) but that was OK, as we were enjoying in the restaurant vibe.

Delicious food! Spare ribs were really good, just like they used to be about 30 years ago (when we came here too) with a delicious corn on the cob. Salad bar also very tasty, everything fresh and lots of choice. Staff very friendly and attentive and a welcoming welcome. The restaurant (still) has a cozy appearance. Quality price ratio good, we will definitely come back.

What an incredibly hospitable restaurant! The service was good anyway, but I loved how they thought about what was important for a family and how, despite being packed and working hard, they still took the time to chat with the children. The booklet with coloring pictures and puzzles was also really nicely done and enough to entertain the children for at least an hour. All this together makes eating out with the children a very enjoyable experience, without worrying about whether the service or other guests may be bothered by the children. As a partially vegetarian family, it was also very nice to have more than enough choice. The food was also very tasty and I always think a salad bar is a big plus. I had the feeling that the pancakes were not home-made, but the children just liked them, so that's not something to worry about as far as I'm concerned. Highly recommended for families with young children. But also for people without children, because if the children enjoy themselves so much, the other guests will also have a nice evening. Heerlijk gegeten in het centrum van Veghel. Vooral de spareribs zijn super lekker. Lekkere salade erbij en verse frietjes.

Wij zoeken altijd via tripadvisor naar leuke en goede restaurants, maar ook deze hoort zeker tot de zeer goede, gezellige en sfeervolle restaurants. Een 3 gangen menu (met de opmerking vanuit de bediening 'De gerechten zijn wat kleiner') meer dan genoeg! Ontzettend lekker gegeten, gezellig en een gezellig praatje. Ze weten van de wijnen die ze hebben weten ze ook te vertellen. We hebben een hele fijne avond gehad!

Weer super lekker gegeten. Ditmaal het 4 gangen menu. Ondanks dat het restaurant goed vol zat hoefden we niet lang te wachten. Knap hoe ze dit doen met veel jonge mensen in de bediening waarvoor een dikke pluim. Ze waren zeer gastvrij en vriendelijk. Dit heb ik weleens anders meegemaakt. Gerechten zijn lekker en smaakvol. Aanrader!

De bediening en de sfeer van het restaurant waren goed. De spakerige kregen wij te snel na ons voorgerecht. De spareribs was droog, taai en had geen marinade. Een behoorlijke tegenvaller voor ons.

Via Google kwamen wij op het idee om op donderdag 30 november 2023 jullie restaurant te bezoeken. ( zoekterm onbeperkt gambas ) Een hele rit, zelfs vanuit Wezep/Zwolle en Venray, maar we werden zeker niet teleurgesteld. Echt ; heerlijke gambas van de grill. Voor ons absoluut voor herhaling vatbaar.

Afgelopen zondag bij Hertog Jan restaurant geweest met 20 man. Zeer goed georganiseerd. We zaten achterin de serre. Erg sfeervol. Ik wil complimenten maken aan de jonge dames en heren. Het is niet mis om zoveel mensen (het hele restaurant zat vol) tegelijk te bedienen. Het was hard lopen voor ze, maar uitstekend gedaan!! Tienen muy buenas opciones de menú. La comida está buena, disponen de buffet de ensaladas. El orden de los platos organizados por el servicio es el único punto a mejorar según punto de vista.

Wat voelden wij ons in de watten gelegd! Genoten van het 5 gangen diner, met lekker bijpassende wijnen was het helemaal een fijne ervaring. De bediening was spot on, we hebben nooit lang hoeven wachten en het eten was fantastisch van smaak!

Wij zijn gisteren voor het eerst bij Restaurant Hertog Jan wezen eten met onze twee dochters van 14 en 18 jaar. Wat hebben we genoten van het 5 gangen diner. Keuzes uit mooie verrassende gerechten. Alles was heerlijk en goed verzorgt. De gerechten kwamen niet te snel zodat we avondvullend aan het dineren waren. Hele goede service en er werd meegedacht voor 1 persoon om gluten en lactose vrij te kunnen eten. En complementen voor het personeel, iedereen is vriendelijk en wenst jou een fijne avond te bezorgen. Dus, een absoluten aanrader! Wij komen nog zeker terug.

Erg leuk en lekker meergangen menu! Tip: zit er iemand in het gezelschap die niet meedoet aan het menu, maar onbeperkt spare ribs eet, geef die ook vast terwijl de rest nog aan de voorgerechten zit.

We hebben er het afscheid van mijn schoonvader gehad. Een totaal andere koffietafel dan men hier gewoon was. Wat een goede service hebben ze geleverd. Waar we bij een ander meteen werden afgewezen ivm geen personeel, hoefde Tamara niet na te denken en waren we meer dan welkom. Mede door het team van Tamara en Patric hebben wij een heel mooi afscheid gehad van mijn schoonvader. Precies zoals hij het gewild zou hebben. Het mooie weer en de prachtige binnentuin maakten het een prachtig einde van een verdrietige dag. We hebben nadien veel complimenten gehad over de soepjes, de worstenbroodjes en de bitterballen. De gerechten van de keuze menu’s waren aangegeven dat ze wat kleiner waren maar dit was niet normaal klein/weinig. Het eten was oké, niet geweldig, maar het duurde vooral enorm lang voordat er telkens iets kwam.

Wat een super leuk en gezellig restaurant is dit. Zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame bediening. Eten is uitmuntend en lekker. Alle gerechten zijn even lekker. Kaasplank met desertwijn is een aanrader. Prijzen zijn vriendelijk.

Altijd een genot om hier te eten. Het personeel is erg vriendelijk, de sfeer is gezellig en het eten is fantastisch.
