What a nice restaurant. Good service and tasty food. The atmosphere is also really cozy.

I fell in love with the ambiance of this place. The person who served us was incredibly sweet. We ordered salmon, ribeye, potatoes, and bread as an appetizer. The bread surprised us; it tasted delicious and was warm. Our meals were also very tasty, and the portions were quite generous. I mentioned that we were there to celebrate a birthday, so they also prepared some sweet surprises for us. It was a place where I felt very good. I think having a drink by the fireplace would be especially lovely on cold days. We've added it to our list as our next celebration venue. The sweetness of the staff also makes this a place to love. Being in nature, the concept, and the cleanliness of the restrooms are other big pluses. The only thing you might complain about is the flies, but it's not a very bothersome issue.

Delicious! I had never been here before and I am pleasantly surprised. They have a cozy fire pit by the entrance, and there is also a fireplace burning inside, making it smell wonderful everywhere. The interior is very beautiful, rustic and modern. They have a very unique menu with nice items for those who want to try something different. The food was all delicious and beautifully presented. No tough steak or sinewy salmon, just perfect. The staff was also friendly and professional. They really do their best to make it fun. We had a very nice evening and I would definitely recommend it. The only downside was that the sofa hadn't been wiped clean and was covered in crumbs from the previous guests.

The lunch and the atmosphere are absolutely fantastic. The only downside is that the staff comes to your table too often. They came to us a total of 7 times during our lunch. That is really too often; it causes irritation, and surely that can't be the intention. Still 4 stars, because the staff is very friendly.

Last night, we truly had a wonderful evening and a fantastic experience at Het Ruiterhuis. This is hospitality as it is meant to be! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything was absolutely perfect. The ladies who took care of us and served us throughout the evening were exceptionally good: hospitable, professional, friendly, and with genuine attention for their guests. In our opinion, many hospitality businesses can and should take a leaf out of their book. The kitchen is wonderfully beautiful and diverse, and every dish was a feast. It was especially special that super chef Lester Soer even came to our table personally. That personal touch made the evening complete for us. And as if that wasn't enough, we also received a personal card afterwards. Especially in these times, these are the details that make the difference. Genuine attention, passion for the profession, and hospitality at a level that you unfortunately don't find everywhere anymore. A magnificent restaurant, a fantastic kitchen, and above all, people who understand what real hospitality and hospitality mean. Highly recommended! We would love to come back here. Good service, but it all took a very long time. Ruiterhuys sandwich.....very little and very tough 5 small pieces of steak 🤔 taste very good.

Went for lunch this afternoon for the first time in a long time. And it was absolutely fantastic again! We had a delicious meal, the ambiance is top-notch, and the service is professional and good. It is incredibly impressive how the high quality standard has been maintained for years. The card for the bill with a handwritten thank-you note was the icing on the cake. Truly superb!

What a lovely spot! 😍 Right in the middle of nature, super cozy, and everything is decorated so nicely. The Fried Chicken sandwich was truly fantastic; what a taste sensation! The oysters were delicious too! 🦪 Plus, the staff was very friendly, making the whole experience complete. Absolutely recommended and definitely a place I will be coming back to often! 🤍

In principle, we are always very satisfied with the Ruiterhuys. As usual, we started our visit by sitting outside on a lovely bench, and then went for a bite to eat before heading home. This time, unfortunately, our atmosphere and enjoyment were significantly disrupted by a drone that was apparently filming for the website. The drone hovered directly above us almost continuously for at least 45 minutes to an hour, making quite a bit of noise. We mentioned this twice, and other guests also indicated that they found this very annoying and disturbing. Additionally, I clearly stated that I do not give permission to post photos or videos on the website in which I am recognizable. The waitress indicated that everyone would be contacted afterwards to give permission for the use of the footage. I find that peculiar, because how exactly do you intend to determine afterwards who was present at that moment? Apart from that, I hereby state once again that I do not give permission. It was not announced or asked of us beforehand, and the drone simply remained hovering above us for an extended period. That really spoiled the atmosphere of the afternoon for us. I regret having to point this out, but in my opinion, you cannot treat your guests this way. The food was, as we have come to expect, just fine. Unfortunately, the experience this time was quite a letdown due to the way the footage was filmed.

Very beautiful location. We sat outside, which was lovely; you could choose between the sun and the shade, so there was something for everyone. Good menu. We did find it a bit on the expensive side, though. Especially if you're dining with a family. I missed the more affordable sandwiches. You can also eat vegan there. According to a friend, this was very tasty. And a large portion. So it was expensive, but very tasty. Compliments to the cook / chef.

Enjoyed a cozy and delicious lunch.

This place is really nice, sitting outside or inside. Personnel is also quite good (I gave a € 10 tip on a € 85 bill). But where things IMHO go wrong is the quality and quantity of the food versus the price. We had a "lunchproeverij", a selection of small versions of regular lunch items from the menu. This is prices at € 21,50 per person, so for the both of us it came down to € 43. You start with a glass of soup, a small kroket, and a small cheesebread, both (sort of) one-biters. The soup was actually really tasty, but the kroket and the cheesebread were just OK. After that, a "tower" gets presented with slices of bread on top. Below that, there was Carpaccio with salad and a bowl of pasta salad. On the lowest part were some hard to identify salad-like "somethings", 2 slices of (italian?) sausage, 2 slices of Parma ham, 2 slices of some kind of blue cheese, and a little salad with 2 slices of salmon. Was the food bad? No, but one could mount an equal dish serving two for less than € 17,50 bought at Lidl, and I am sure the restaurant should be able to buy it for far less. Prices here in The Netherlands have been rising voor years now, but eating out had come to insane levels...

Nice location, atmospheric, large outdoor terrace. There could be more and better parasols and shade. But otherwise okay.

What a great place to eat! You aren't crammed together here. There is a quiet atmosphere and it is decorated very nicely and cozily (not overdone). The food was truly amazing! Yes, you do pay a little more for it, but it was 100% worth every penny! The toilets are neat and clean. The staff are incredibly well-coordinated and have everything under control at all times! Plenty of attention for the guests and not constantly coming to the table to ask if you want to order drinks. On top of that, they are incredibly friendly and work in a very relaxed manner. Next to the restaurant is a beautiful wedding venue. On the other side, towards the entrance, there is a nice spot for children to play and a mini farm with horses, chickens, and more... you simply have to eat here at least once. Reserve VERY early on Valentine's Day, otherwise you won't get a spot. We were unsuccessful twice.

We eat here with a group of 7 or 8 people about every two months. The quality is always very good, the food super fresh. The menu has something for everyone. You won't easily find a more customer-friendly place. A unique spot!

What a lovely place and what friendly hospitality. I chose this place because of the slight irritability of one of the guests, and that was a bullseye. Lovely time outside on the shaded terrace with a view of the animals and one horse in particular showing off 😃. The gluten-free tasting platter was also beautifully presented, and all the dishes were very flavorful.

We had to wait for lunch until we were assigned a table. The staff completely ignored us. When we were finally served after waiting for 5 minutes, the waiter was just talking through his earpiece. He didn't say a word to us at that moment. There was one spot left. High up at a bar table. We physically couldn't manage that anymore. The rest were all reserved, he said when he had finished talking through his earpiece... We weren't allowed to sit at the remaining free 6-person table because there were only two of us. Everywhere else, there were two people sitting at the same large tables. What an unpleasant, arrogant way of doing things. Ugh. We had a lovely lunch at Johannas Hof afterwards. Nice staff, no fuss with oysters on platters (in the scorching heat?). Never again.

Het Ruiterhuys is beautifully situated. Very atmospheric both inside and out. A rustic interior complete with, walking distance from the parking lot: horses, a donkey and a bull, a sheep, and a rabbit. I have been there a few times and the food is fine. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

In one word: fantastic, beautiful location, ample parking, very friendly service. The food was also great. All in all, highly recommended.

Had a lovely lunch on the terrace on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Beautiful view surrounded by greenery. Friendly service and delicious croque madame and Caesar salad. Enjoyed the atmospheric ambiance. We will be back again.

Luckily, a table could still be arranged; we had reserved the wrong date. The food was delicious, though the plates could have been a bit warmer. Sometimes they top up the wine, but we were fine with that not being done here, so you can decide for yourself. Very friendly staff. A very neat, atmospheric restaurant in beautiful surroundings. It was a bit noisy, which is mostly attributable to the voices.

Very relaxed and beautiful location, very professional staff. The prices there are really bizarre. If you order a small chicken skewer with a portion of fries, you have to shell out 35 euros! The food is very tasty, but for that money I expect a bit more.

The lunch was of very good quality. Very sweet service in a great atmosphere. This is the first time I have had lunch here, but I will definitely come more often.

Great location and good service. We dined with 6 people. 3 of them had a rib eye and all three vomited during the night, had stomach problems, and one also had a fever. The other 3 didn't experience this. We ate very early, so presumably these rib eyes were leftovers from the previous days? It's a real shame because it is otherwise a beautiful location, but it's not worth feeling miserable for 2 days after a meal.

We had a wonderfully relaxed and extensive lunch with 6 people and a child. We sat outside under the shade cloths. The service was very attentive and friendly, really taking the time for everything, including questions about allergy information. The food was delicious. As far as we are concerned, today was a top-notch experience.

We recently went out for dinner with the family at Het Ruiterhuys. We have never had any problems before, but this time we waited longer than an hour for our food. It can happen, but they did not apologize.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but for someone on a gluten diet, I've had better experiences at Intratuin than here.

We dined with family in the conservatory on a sunny, warm day. It quickly became very hot with hardly any ventilation. Several people in our party were bothered by this. Was the fireplace on? Atmospheric in itself, but more for colder days. Only one door could be opened, but this created a draft. After insisting with the manager, the fireplace was turned off, but unfortunately, it didn't have an immediate effect. The food was a set menu with a good selection. The food was tasty, but we had to wait an enormously long time (an hour and a half) for the starter, and then another 40 minutes for the main course. Overall, we had a nice evening; the service was otherwise friendly. Tip: ensure sufficient ventilation and put your guests first instead of focusing on the ambiance.

Atmosphere excellent, food good, service substandard. The staff pays little attention to the guests. They rarely come to your table to ask if anything is needed. They are more preoccupied with themselves amongst themselves. We ordered desserts and coffee after the main course. Desserts arrived after 20 minutes, cutlery 5 minutes later, and we cancelled the coffee 40 minutes after finishing dessert. In the meantime, the staff was already dividing the tip jar. Very disappointing for such a location. It would be nice if capable floor managers were appointed.

Nice menu with lots of variety. A lot of things are freshly made, and you can taste it. The vegetarian menu is good. The cauliflower is highly recommended!

Once and never again! Beautiful restaurant, nice service, but the main courses were lukewarm to cold. This was acknowledged by the wait staff, who said things weren't running smoothly in the kitchen. One dish was served again and was warm this time. Upon mentioning this, we were compensated with coffee and a dessert platter, which was subsequently deducted from the bill. We never received the fries, but they were deducted from the bill nonetheless. It is all very strange, because 4 out of the 6 main courses were not up to par. Surely you compensate for what wasn't right. There was no compassion whatsoever from the manager. Very disappointing, and in our view, this could have been resolved very differently.

A beautifully situated and tastefully decorated restaurant. I would have gladly given it 5 stars, but two issues prevented me from doing so, though they are relatively easy to rectify. The food was tasty, however, a serious temperature problem plagued all the courses – from appetizers to main courses. The tomato soup was lukewarm rather than hot, and the meat (rump steak) was similarly uncomfortably cold. It was about 25 degrees below the core temperature of approximately 55 degrees Celsius required for medium-rare. Despite this, everything was still delicious. Unfortunately, the service was rather inattentive once the food was served. Perhaps this was because we arrived late (around 8:15 pm) and were the last remaining table by 9 pm – but it shouldn't happen. To get, for example, another bottle of water or wine, we sometimes had to practically wave to get the staff's attention. ... What's really worth highlighting is that you can still come in relatively late and actually order everything you want, which is quite rare in the Netherlands. We definitely had a lovely and enjoyable evening and will definitely be back. A clear recommendation from me. 🙌

Nice, cozy place for an extensive lunch

Het Ruiterhuys has a warm and cozy atmosphere that suits a wedding well. I was here in the winter for a wedding day, and that atmosphere came across particularly beautifully. The outdoor space and garden also give the venue a lot of charm.

Great spot in Castricum! It's a bit hidden, as you can't see it from the road. But the surprise of how charming and welcoming it is is all the greater. They have a petting zoo, a lovely terrace, and above all, they serve delicious food. A wide selection on the menu, fast and friendly service, and good prices! Highly recommended for a snack, drink, or meal after a day exploring the beautiful dunes.

Great atmosphere. We had to wait a very long time to order. Then we had to wait 45 minutes for our lunch. The croquettes were lukewarm. The brie from the tasting menu wasn't good. Two dried-out brie crusts. We mentioned this when we paid, and they said some people like it. Friendly service.

We had lunch here yesterday and really enjoyed it. There was a wonderful Christmas atmosphere, and there was a small fireplace burning outside, which made it even more cozy. The staff was friendly, and the food was delicious. We had the steak sandwich (Ruiterhuys sandwich) and a chicken brioche. Both are highly recommended. We'll definitely be back!

A beautiful location, with plenty of outdoor space and a great atmosphere, even with the animals. The menu is extensive, and vegetarian options are well represented. Very nice restaurant, good scenery. Chose the burger of the menu, which I received as being tapid almost cold even. The new burger was proper hot but this time with the cheese on it (special request for no cheese). After sending it back again my group already finished their main course. Staff offered me a free desert which I declined, since apetite was gone. Upon receiving the Bill, the big surprise was the burger appearing again, this was another disapointmemt. The Staff took it off and apologized. That's the context for my review.

What a lovely place, we had a delicious meal with my boyfriend. We started with a bread platter, and soon after, we were served the carpaccio. Huge compliments on that, and the steak was deliciously smoky and flavorful. Unfortunately, the staff was a bit too pushy at times... I had another sandwich in my hand and the menu was already being shoved into my other hand. Despite this, they were incredibly enthusiastic and friendly!

Everything was FANTASTIC! The staff were super friendly, the food was amazing, and I felt like I was on vacation. The cod was the best I've ever had, so delicious, and the honey cake was also delicious. It might be pricey for some, but it's more than worth it! The atmosphere is absolutely festive around Christmas, so that's especially recommended.

November 15, 2025: We went to this extremely cozy restaurant in Bakkum. We also saw Henny Huisman there. I thought he was the owner. The menu seemed to have a lot of green things on it. Not my thing. As a result, I found the selection for a tasty sandwich rather limited. I ended up with a hamburger. It looked neat and tasty with tasty, dry fries. However, the hamburger turned out to be bone dry. I gave it a 3 out of 10. Another thing I found annoying was that the fries had been sprinkled with salt. The third downside was the price. 23.50 for a hamburger and fries isn't exactly cheap in my opinion. The service was otherwise excellent. We did have to wait fifteen minutes before being seated. The wait after ordering wasn't too bad. We had our sandwich within fifteen minutes.
