Unfortunately, our order of 2 lasagnas was served to the table next to us, who had ordered 1 lasagna and 1 cannelloni with spinach. The lady asked if this was cannelloni, and the employee said it was indeed cannelloni because it contains more greens. When our food was served, it was the order from the table next to us. I called over the employee, who merely said sorry, took the plate with the cannelloni away, and mumbled, "A new one will be here shortly." My girlfriend then went to eat. After 30 minutes, I received my lasagna, and my girlfriend had to watch me happily start eating mine. After I finished eating, I beckoned the owner to come over to the table. The owner was fully aware of the situation and sent an employee to our table. The employee then asked if everything had been to our liking. I replied, "No, I find it very unpleasant to eat in stages and I have a completely different idea of ​​what a nice dining out is." Then a stammering apology came out, asking if we wanted a coffee on the house. There are several things I am extremely disappointed with, and I find the customer service at this establishment particularly poor. 1) They did not ask if my girlfriend's plate could be taken along so that we could at least eat at the same time. 2) The people at the table next to us were not informed by the staff member that they were both eating lasagna; we had to do that. The lady next to us could easily have been a vegetarian. 3) We experienced absolutely no customer friendliness from the staff members in accommodating us in any way. In short: what should have been a pleasant evening out for dinner turned into a fiasco. The food was good, but the service was a massive fail. Because of this poor service, we will not be returning here.

Friendly welcome at first. The food was not tasty at all, and the price-performance ratio did not match the quality. After mentioning that it didn't taste good, I was told I could leave a bad review. Wow, that's not a nice way to treat customers. The owner did everything he could to avoid eye contact. That's why I can only give him a bad review.

This was really terrible. The pizza was lukewarm at best, and the onion, mushrooms, and artichoke were still completely raw. It had simply been in the oven for far too short a time. Even the pizza dough was still very light in color. The cannelloni was hot straight from the oven but completely tasteless. When we mentioned this to the wait staff, the young lady didn't know what to say, so she just said nothing. Really very bad. That's why we just asked for the bill immediately and left. Furthermore, the acoustics on the outdoor terrace were terrible, a cacophony of sounds, particularly noisy children. Clearly, it wasn't our night.

The food was very tasty, but unfortunately, the owner put a major damper on things. A nasty, stressed man who was incredibly rude to his staff. You come for a pleasant evening, not to witness a staff conflict live. Fortunately, the service was friendly!

After having reserved a week in advance, we arrived and were ignored by the bizarre owner after speaking to him and asking if there was space given our reservation. We were asked by another employee to take a seat inside, only to be offered nothing for 25 minutes. After this, we decided to leave and had a delicious meal at Het Vissershuis.

A very warm welcome and efficient service throughout our entire stay. As guests, we never felt overlooked or ignored. The staff took ample time for us. Children were lovingly cared for. If I had to describe the food here in 3 words: "yum yum yum!" The pizza and pasta are both delicious. Wonderfully tender meat in the pasta and the pizza dough is exquisite. It is a real treat to enjoy these high-quality dishes. Oh, and be sure to try the limoncello too!

A good example of hospitality businesses. Tasty pizza, tasty dessert. Enjoyed it immensely. All ingredients are fresh. Compliments to the waiter and waitress; both know how to create and maintain a good atmosphere. One point of criticism is that while everything is fresh, the whipped cream on the dessert is the cheap kind from a spray can.

Amazing! Very friendly staff. And the food... Unbelievable. I had the Tagliatelle Tartufo. What amazing flavors, and the steak was perfectly cooked. My partner had the Pizza Venetia. The ground beef was fantastically seasoned. For both of us, the best pizzeria experience ever! If we ever come this way from the far North again, we will definitely stop by.

I visited this Italian restaurant on a typical Wednesday. The fish soup is highly recommended, and definitely worth it, paired with the recommended robust red wine. The service is very helpful and professional. The calzone pesce was delicious, but I wouldn't have preferred the smoked salmon, but salmon with shrimp. The pizza 4 stagioni was good but not exceptional. More Italian herbs would be nice. The atmosphere inside is good, but not truly Italian. The wine and the soup deserve the stars.

January 10, 2026 Tried to eat here again, but unfortunately, it's closed. It's a combination of a less charming pizzeria next door. Nothing is mentioned on the website. Even though pizza isn't on the menu, they made it possible for me to order a pizza. Everything was delicious. The pizza was excellent and had the best toppings. We would love to come back. Since we had a very pleasant evening at il gallo at the beginning of our vacation, my husband and I decided to spend our last evening there. Unfortunately, the evening was a complete disappointment. After we finished our main course, we weren't even looked at for over 30 minutes. The table wasn't cleared, nor were we asked if we wanted something to drink or dessert. Even though the chef, who was serving outside, walked past us several times and the restaurant was only moderately busy. We would have liked to order dessert and a drink. But after 35 minutes of being ignored, we weren't in the mood anymore. I then went inside to pay. We couldn't shake the impression that if you didn't order wine and an appetizer, you weren't welcome as a guest. That was definitely our last visit to il gallo.

Last Wednesday, the four of us dined at "Il Gallo" for the first time. We had a fantastic evening from start to finish. The food was excellent and varied (we all chose the surprise menu), and the service was friendly. It was clear that the staff are passionate about their work, their products, and the restaurant. In our opinion, "Il Gallo" is one of the best restaurants in Westerschouwen and the surrounding area. We will definitely be back.

We had variations of bruschetta. Unfortunately, nothing was tasty except the one with salami. The vitello pizza was a matter of taste, unfortunately, but not ours. The beer was good. The service was okay.

Semi-large pizza, very expensive drinks

Na een paar goede ervaringen hadden we zingen om deze vakantie weer naar Il Gallo te gaan. Vol verwachting besteld. Na een uur wachten nog niets gehad, mensen na ons wel. Ober en eigenaar wel 30 keer langs onze tafel gelopen en gekeken, maar niets gevraagd of gezegd. Na 5 kwartier gevraagd of ze ons vergeten waren. Ober ging meteen informeren en kwam terug met de mededeling dat de bon er niet uit was komen rollen, maar dat ze het meteen gingen klaarmaken. Excuus en volgende rondje was van het huis. Na dik anderhalf uur eindelijk onze eiste eerste gang. Eten was heerlijk hoor. Bij afrekenen bleek het 'rondje' toch op de rekening te staan. Toen we daarop wezen werd er geïrriteerd 8 euro afgehaald en werden we eigenlijk weggebonjourd. We snappen dat er fouten gemaakt kunnen worden, maar we voelden ons zeer zeker niet serieus genomen. Het leek alsof de baas het helemaal niet vervelend vond. Ondanks lekker eten was dit toch de laatste keer voor ons. Jammer heel jammer..

We hadden gereserveerd voor 2 personen inclusief hond op het terras en kregen als grap de vraag dacht wij of ons hond niet bijte maar daar kom ik zo op terug. Aangekomen bij het restaurant moesten wij binnen gaan zitten wat niet was afgesproken. De ober was zeer onvriendelijk en kwam chagrijnig over en had al gelijk zin om weg tegaan. Toen we binnen kwamen ging hij toch een plekje vrij maken om buiten op het terras te gaan zitten dus dachte wij nou ok hij doet toch zijn best en alles vergeven. Even later gooide hij de bakdrink water van een hond zomaar over het hek wat flink kabaal maakte om een tafel op te ruimen waarbij wij dachten moet dat nou op zo'n manier en dachten die is toch niet zo hond vriendelijk.Toen kwamen er 6 dames aan die niet gereserveerd hadden vragen om een plekje waarbij de andere ober die wel heel vriendelijk was zij helaas het terras is vol maar toen kwam de andere onvriendelijke ober weer aan en wilde koste wat het wil een plek vrij maken waarbij hij ons vroeg of wij van plaats wilden ruilen terwijl we ons voorgerecht al op hadden en het hoofd gerecht al onderweg weg was.We voelde ons net een stelletje jo jo's die van het kastje van muur werden geplaatst.Normaal gesproken doen we hier niet moelijk over en zouden zeker plek vrij maken voor anderen die graag ook een hapje willen eten maar we waren wel een beetje klaar hoe deze ober reageerde tegen ons dus hebben wij gezegd dat we bleven zitten waar bij hij heel boos reageerde van nou dan doen we het niet.Dat kwam zo onprofessioneel over.Toen keken de dames ook nog eens boos naar mij waarbij ik dacht van ja jullie kunnen er ook niks aan doen maar jullie weten niet wat er afspeelt. Mijn vrouw ging even een sigaret roken tegenover het restaurant en de dames vonden het blijkbaar leuk om de boel op te stoken om haar compleet uit te lachen waar bij ik op reageerde wat van mij achter af eerlijk gezegd ook een beetje onvriendelijk was maar de basis van het ongezellige avondje uit eten kwam door de onvriendelijk ober en heb gezegd pak mijn hoofdgerecht maar in want ik ben er helemaal klaar mee.Toen kwam de andere ober melden dat de onvriendelijke zijn excuses wilde aanbieden maar zelfs daar was hij niet man genoeg voor om het zelf te vragen. U snapt wel hier komen we niet meer terwijl het eten helemaal super is.Jammer dit.Dit restaurant verdient een betere ober.

Food was downright bad, service bad, coffee milk was sour, there was no excuse, as compensation, a splash of cold milk was thrown into my coffee, we should actually have left immediately after the coffee. So-called Italian food is served with fries, while a real Italian food is served with pasta. Service cool and impersonal, fries were put down without saying anything, salmon a bizarrely small piece for a bizarrely high price. Unsociable owner who couldn't say a smile or a kind word. In short: a huge disappointment, we might as well have thrown the € 120 into the water, they call themselves an Italian restaurant, but haven't seen any Italian, let alone Italian food. If you really want to eat Italian you should go to A Proposito in Rotterdam, that's Italian food. We will never come here again!!

Il Gallo is a good restaurant that we visit often. This time we found the food a bit disappointing. The price performance ratio was not quite right. The service and atmosphere are excellent and we hope that the food will be great again next time.

We became aware of the restaurant through a recommendation from friends. We ordered the 4 course surprise menu and were thrilled! The food was very tasty and varied. The atmosphere and service were very familiar, which made us feel very comfortable. We will definitely come back on our next vacation!

Disappointing experience. The 3 course menu was on the board without a price. It turned out to be around 65,-, quite pricey, there was also a surprise menu of 50,-. The gluten-free pasta was over-cooked and the price/quality was not okay.

At Il Gallo we had a bad experience due to an old man serving who ruined our evening. After seeing a full terrace, we went to an empty table inside, where we were quickly helped by a young, friendly waiter. Drinks and delicious food were delivered quickly (given the crowds). Unfortunately, the old man turned out to be disinterested and derogatory. After waiting for 30 minutes without getting any attention, he ignored my son's attempts to call for him and treated us with contempt when I asked for help. Despite the good service from the young waiter, who politely asked us if everything was to our liking, the old man remained unfriendly and paid us no attention while he served the tables next to us. After waiting another 10 minutes (40 minutes in total!) I asked for the bill and the remaining food to take away. When we finally left, the old man stood in the way and refused to greet us kindly. The young waiter wished us a nice evening. We left the restaurant without a tip feeling very disappointed by the poor treatment. We hope that the staff will be better appreciated and that the old man will change his behavior or be replaced

Excellent restaurant with delicious dishes and Italian wines. Reasonable prices, especially for our 3-course menu and also for the surprise menu. The atmosphere is decidedly quiet, of course depending on the guests, but the staff exudes tranquility. No intrusive music either. The service is smooth, friendly and adequate. Chilly in winter, a cardigan works wonders.

Absolutely recommended! Especially culinary at a very high level. My wife and I recently ate incredibly delicious pasta here that you rarely get in Germany. The dishes are very delicately seasoned and impress from start to finish. Even the included bread tastes remarkably good. Yesterday I had dinner at Il Gallo with my family to celebrate two birthdays. The food was good. The overall experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the rude attitude of the owner. When ordering, I asked for advice about the starters because I had doubts. His response was: “Yes, sorry ma'am, just choose what you like.” This didn't feel very helpful or welcoming. When my mother wanted to order another drink later when the drinks were brought to the rest of the table, the response we received was: “Yes, just order that in one go.” At that moment I noticed that he was working alone, which of course requires a lot of effort and I respect that. However, it would have been useful if he had informed us upon arrival that he was alone. Fortunately, we were later helped by two younger employees who were friendlier/hospitable and made the evening a little more enjoyable. I was here a few times years ago and the experience was positive. I really hope we hit the owner on a bad day and that this isn't his standard approach. Judging from the other reviews, that could easily be the case.

Nice experience in terms of food, but disappointing service at Il Gallo We recently ate at Il Gallo and the food was of good quality as always. However, the service left a lot to be desired. There was no time to answer questions and walking to the bar twice was too much while we were literally sitting next to it “order in 1x next time”. This felt unpleasant and rushed. While we were waiting, we noticed that the owner sat at the table with other guests, probably islanders well known to him. In the meantime, we were left with empty glasses and no one cared about us. This gave us the feeling that a clear distinction was made between regular customers and other guests. As islanders, we got a nice insight into how they most likely treat tourists here… It seems that the owner of Il Gallo is trying to create a high class restaurant, given the lack of house wine on the menu. However, if you have that ambition, a friendly and attentive approach to all guests is absolutely part of it. We have always received good service here in the past, but this experience has made us decide not to come back. Next time we would rather spend our 350 euros at a business where they are eager for business and treat every customer equally.

We regularly came to Il Gallo when we were in Westenschouwen for maintenance on our summer house. The food is/was tasty, the atmosphere good and friendly staff. What we have noticed in the 6 years that we have been coming there occasionally is that the dishes are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher. It is certainly not a star restaurant, we think the ratio between quantity, quality and price is somewhat out of balance. That is why we regularly eat somewhere else in the region.

I come here often and usually for the surprise menu. Different every time but always very tasty. Lots of flavour. Not cheap but value for money. Always tasty and part of the menu: scroppino made at the table...great.

Voor deze beoordeling heb ik getwijfeld dus 3 of 4 groene bolletjes. De bediening (zoon van de eigenaar) was heel vriendelijk en attent. Omdat ik geen grote eter ben, kon ik een kinderportie bestellen. Top was dat. Het eten was geen culinair hoogstandje maar dat hoeft ook niet, het was prima, de prijs/kwaliteit verhouding was goed. Genoeg keuze, ook vegetarisch. Over de eigenaar zelf; hij zag er niet erg representatief uit. Is zeker verbeterpuntje.

Our recent visit to Ristorante IL Gallo ultimately turned out to be a very disappointing experience. Upon arrival we saw two separate facades, each with their own name: one side a cheap restaurant with takeaway pizzas and the other side an apparently more expensive restaurant with a nice appearance. We decided to opt for the more expensive restaurant, attracted by the elegant appearance of the conservatory and the hope of a nice culinary experience. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a big mistake. Our starter was a first starter, which was not very disappointing. A tasty vitello tonato and a bland zuppa di pesce. Then the trouble started. Everyone around us got the next course left and right. We waited patiently but little happened. After more than an hour, the waiter reluctantly came to our table with the vague statement that, according to him, there had been a miscommunication with our order. The waiter apparently also worked in the cheaper pizza restaurant, so our order did not go through in the more expensive restaurant. As a sweetener we got two sandwiches with aioli. The owner was arrogant and showed no empathy or customer care whatsoever. From the start it was clear that there was very poor business operations and mismanagement. We were also promised a free glass of wine by the waiter, but we never received it. When we inquired about this, we only received a shrug of the shoulders and an evasive answer. The food itself was ultimately the biggest disappointment of the evening after a two-hour wait. The most expensive dish on the menu at no less than 37.50 euros turned out to be a well-cooked mashed penne with tomato sauce. Next to it were a handful of over-cooked mussels and on top of the pasta were two pieces of dry-fried swordfish that probably came from the freezer. This dish was far from what you would expect for such a ridiculously high amount. The other dish was a spaghetti di pesce, which looked more like the leftovers from the cheap takeaway restaurant. We were fed up with it and decided to pay. In the end, there was no excuse or any form of compensation for this terrible experience. We left the restaurant deeply disappointed and feeling like we had been ripped off. I would strongly discourage anyone from going to Ristorante IL Gallo. The quality and service are severely below par. Expensive food from the kitchen of a bad pizza restaurant.

Ristorante IL Gallo is een grote grap. Onze recente bezoek aan Ristorante IL Gallowat bleek uiteindelijk een zeer teleurstellende ervaring te zijn. Bij aankomst zagen we twee aparte gevels, elk hun eigen naam: de ene kant een goedkoop restaurant met afhaalpizza's en de andere kant een ogenschijnlijk duurder restaurant met een mooie uitstraling. We besloten te kiezen voor het duurdere restaurant, aangetrokken door de elegante uitstraling van de serre en de hoop op een fijne culinaire ervaring. Helaas bleek dit een grote fout te zijn. Ons voorgerecht was een eerst start, die niet heel teleurstellend was. Een lekkere vitello tonato en een flauwe zuppa di pesce. Daarna begon de ellende. Iedereen om ons heen kreeg link en rechts de volgende gang. Wij bleven geduldig wachten maar er gebeurde weinig. Na ruim een uur kwam de bediening schoorvoetend aan onze tafel kwam staan met de de vage mededeling dat er naar eigen zeggen miscommunicatie was ontstaan bij onze bestelling. De bediening werkte blijkbaar ook in het goedkopere pizza restaurant, waardoor onze bestelling niet was doorgekomen in het duurdere restaurant. Als zoethoudertje kregen we twee broodjes met allooi. De eigenaar was arrogant en toonde geen enkele vorm van empathie of klantvriendelijkheid. Vanaf het begin was het duidelijk dat er sprake was van zeer slechte bedrijfsvoering en mismanagement. We hadden door gratis wijn toegezegd gekregen, maar deze hebben we nooit ontvangen. Toen we hierover informeerden, kregen we slechts een schouderophalen en een ontwijkend antwoord. Het eten zelf was uiteindelijk na twee uur wachten de grootste teleurstelling van de avond. Het duurste gerecht op de kaart van maar liefst 37, 50 euro bleek een doorgekookte prak penne met tomatensaus. Ernaast lagen een handjevol doorgekookte mosselen en bovenop de pasta lagen twee stukjes droog gebakken zwaardvis die vermoedelijk uit de vriezer kwamen. Dit gerecht was verre van wat je zou verwachten voor zo'n belachelijk hoog bedrag. Het andere gerecht was een spaghetti di pesce, wat meer leek op de left-overs vanuit het goedkope afhaal restaurant. We waren er helemaal klaar mee en besloten te gaan betalen. Er was uiteindelijk geen enkel excuus of enige vorm van compensatie voor deze vreselijke ervaring. We verlieten het restaurant diep teleurgesteld en met het gevoel dat we opgelicht waren. Ik zou iedereen sterk afraden om naar deze restaurants te gaan. Het is een schande dat ze zich voordoen als twee aparte etablissementen, terwijl ze in werkelijkheid dezelfde slechte service en lage kwaliteit bieden.

We ate the three-course monthly menu. Delicious, fresh and more than enough food. Super smooth, professional and friendly service. Highly recommended.

We hebben gekozen voor het 4 gangen verrassingsmenu en heerlijk gegeten. Vooraf vers brood, daarna een mooie plank, gevolg door soep (heb zelf liever pasta,maar prima soep) , als 3e gang een vlees vis/gerecht en een goed dessert tot slot. De eigenaar neemt de tijd voor iedere tafel. Erg leuk dat hij een scropino aan tafel bereid. Tot slot kregen we het recept van de limoncello. Aanrader.

Service Top! Atmosphere very okay, unfortunately the Bolognese vegetariano was very disappointing... not a single mushroom or eggplant to be found... pasta with peppers/zucchini and a very ordinary, slightly spiced tomato sauce... Taste was very dull. A disappointment. Very unfortunate.

Delicious food, very pleasant atmosphere

What a super cozy restaurant! Food was delicious. We sat in the conservatory, just missed some music in the background, otherwise the atmosphere would be 5 stars.

Never had such a delicious lasagna before. Host Jarko is an example to many. Chapeau, chapeau!!

A very good address, the dishes were all delicious and worthy of a very good Italian restaurant!

Helaas is de eigenaar een te ingenomen en onvriendelijk persoon. Na een gewone opmerking over het eten, wat 3 mensen ook ervaarden, was er volgens hem niets mis met het eten en wilde hij geen discussie hierover, dus werd er een gerecht in mindering gebracht want dat is makkelijker ? Misschien is het beter om een opmerking aan te pakken en dit als uitdaging te zien om het te verbeteren. Het Eten was niet van super kwaliteit en de glazen bleven te veel lang leeg ! De vissoep was niets meer dan een kop ongebonden zoute bak water met wat zee vruchten. Hoe moeilijk is het om soep te maken ? De bediening was zeer vriendelijk en netjes, pluim voor hen ! maar de eigenaar gaf ze toch af en toe een snauw, ik zou zeggen " personeel stap op, er is voldoende werk in de horeca. Dus geen koffie of nagerecht besteld en betaald. Op de weg naar buiten geen blik van de eigenaar, nog geen gedag kon er vanaf ! zeer onbeleefd en onprofessionele manier om zo een zaak te runnen.
