The food is fine! Simple, nothing special!

We ordered two fried eggs today, one with cheese and one with cheese and ham. When served, it turned out the fried eggs had simply been placed on top of the cheese slices and were not cooked with them. When we asked why they weren't cooked with the eggs, the waitress said, "You should have asked." I replied, "If there are two ways, then you should have said so," to which she answered, "I'm not going to ask 500 times a day how people want it." I added, "That is part of your job." That didn't please her. We have been coming to the former Westenwind—now Jooi—for 30 years, but this was the last time.

Delicious food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended!!!!

We had to wait a very long time for drinks. We ordered two blackcurrants and asked for some nuts, but only got them if we ordered beer. Then we ordered the next round of beer and still didn't get any nuts. I didn't think that was good service, and it took too long every time for her to come by. In the end, I just went inside myself to pay.

A complete disaster, really. You should pay attention to where it's going to be busy. We found it empty and went anyway. The beer was warm, the fries so crispy I couldn't even spear a large portion, and the kibbeling (battered and fried fish) was very dark and also far too crispy (overfried). My accompanying salad was soaked with dressing on the surface, while the bottom was just dry lettuce leaves. My wife didn't like it either, but I won't go into that now. How can you mess up so much with just beer and fries??? The server was very friendly and tried hard to compensate for the kitchen's mistakes.

A very nice restaurant in a prime location. There were still some free tables both inside and outside at lunchtime. We were able to bring our two dogs into the restaurant without any problems. The food was delicious and fresh! The fish is highly recommended.

I didn't quite like the unmentioned curry in my meal (the chicken skewers) but that's only a personal preference. The place was great and the staff friendly. The toilets were clean and we've been served shortly after ordering, definitely a great place to stop by and eat!

We had a delicious meal; there was even a birthday card upon arrival, which was very thoughtful. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also good, which was partly due to the lovely weather.

I had the delicious ribeye, super tender and well grilled, delicious. And the ladies each had a chicken satay; according to the ladies, this was also very tasty. Additionally, the service was nice, welcoming, and friendly. Next time in Egmond aan Zee again, highly recommended.

Large restaurant on the corner of the boulevard and the Voorstraat. Tables inside and outside. The service is great, and if it gets very busy, the manager simply pitches in.

We had a breakfast buffet there for five days via Hotel de Boei, which is located next door. The breakfast was fine, but very basic, nothing special.. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and was neat!

We both ordered the goat cheese salad. It really wasn't tasty. We left it untouched. The waitress only asked if we wanted to take it with us. We certainly won't be coming back here; so, not recommended for us.

We ate at Jooi! restaurant and were very satisfied overall. The spare ribs and schnitzel were simply superb – the food was really delicious, and you could tell everything was freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the service wasn't quite perfect. The fries were forgotten with one dish, and we were charged for an extra bottle of water. However, these things happen, as the restaurant was completely full and very busy. Nevertheless, the food and drinks arrived at our table in a reasonable amount of time. While the prices are a bit higher, you get fresh ingredients and very good quality. All in all, we had a lovely evening and would definitely return for the excellent food alone.

Nice accommodation. Neat and clean, well-maintained toilets. But most importantly; the food, and that was fine too. The rest of the party had the Fish and Ships, I had the Chicken Satay. We all enjoyed our meal. Well-prepared fish and Chicken Satay with a tasty salad and fries on the side; in short, a great lunch. The staff was very friendly and our dogs were spoiled with treats, kibble, and water.

Booked a nice social deal, the lunch was delicious and the staff friendly! It's just a shame that we specifically called beforehand to ask if there was a disabled toilet available; we were spoken to by a robot who indicated that this wouldn't be a problem. Fortunately, because that is important to us. After our lunch, we wanted to use the disabled toilet, but unfortunately, there isn't one! The employee indicated that the route to the toilet was equipped with a kind of ramp, so a wheelchair could fit in, making it wheelchair-friendly. Well... but that is no use to my disabled friend... there was absolutely no way she could get into the toilet with her wheelchair. The sink couldn't be used either, as there was an (empty) shelf under the basin, preventing the wheelchair from fitting underneath. Very disappointing, especially when you call specifically beforehand with this question! The staff was friendly and the food tasty, but this is absolutely not a restaurant that is wheelchair-friendly! A real downer on our nice outing!

Restaurant JOOI! We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Restaurant JOOI! A large table was easily prepared for our group – we immediately felt welcome. The team was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a witty remark. The polenta with vegetables was excellent, as were the pan-fried salmon and the fish and chips. We enjoyed it all with a nice cold beer and finished with a good espresso. A very pleasant, relaxed evening with good food, warm service, and a pleasant atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Hotel de Boei offered breakfast at Jooi. It was really good. We also ate there one evening. The steak I had was okay. I've had better. I'm not even sure if it was really 200 grams. But otherwise, it was quite good. My husband had fish and chips. He enjoyed it. The fish was quite dark when fried. The ice cream was absolutely fantastic. Delicious.

The coffee was fine, the cake was tasty.

We ate here last night. The food is truly fantastic!! Attention is paid to every detail. In terms of vegetables, and everything is deliciously seasoned. I had the prawns and the salmon. The prawns came with delicious small cubes of potato. With oyster mushrooms. Divine! The potato gratin and the salmon were also top-notch. Another nice detail is that the friendly chef brings the food himself... and the staff is also very friendly and alert, even though it was very busy! We actually always used to just come here for a drink. But we received this gift for Mother's Day. We will definitely be back!!

Unfortunately, we were unable to order anything (so we couldn't judge the drinks or the food). We sat waiting until we could order, but apparently the staff were too busy with other things. After waiting for a while without ordering, we left.

What a wonderfully cozy, atmospheric restaurant. The staff is incredibly polite and helpful. Highly recommended for an evening out dining together or with family. You can also sit on the covered terrace with friends, sheltered from the wind.

We had dinner at Jooi! in Egmond aan Zee tonight. We've eaten here many times on previous vacations. Starter: Egmond fish soup, prawns, carpaccio with truffle mayo, and pita with smoked salmon. Main course: halibut with kaffir lime sauce, hamburger, and spare ribs (a generous portion). All dishes were well-prepared and delicious. We'd already had Egmond fish soup, which was delicious and filling. Spare ribs with a good BBQ sauce and tender meat. Dessert: lava cake with raspberry coulis. Man, so good! The homemade iced tea is also highly recommended, and one of my favorite beers on tap: Crank the Juice from Moersleutel. We had a wonderful evening with good food and friendly, attentive service.

Nice restaurant, friendly service, delicious food. Tip: Too bad there were still two bay leaves in the onion soup. Location: You're sitting in the conservatory looking out at parked cars and the back of a high-rise hotel restaurant. Atmosphere: There was a group of drunk cyclists in the restaurant who were very loud, shouting, and behaving inappropriately (among other things, banging their fists on the windows). They were completely unstoppable. We found this (very) disturbing, and we weren't the only guests who felt this way. People didn't want to sit at a table near the group, and several guests around us were complaining about the group's inappropriate behavior and shouting. Some were so drunk they could barely stand. It's "strange" that the restaurant owner didn't intervene.

I was craving a piece of cake and spontaneously stopped in here with my dog. The service was friendly, quick, and attentive. I enjoyed the apple cinnamon cake and the cappuccino.

We go to Jooi often, and the food is always good and delicious. Today we made a reservation at 5:00 PM with our toddler. We had a sandwich and mini pancakes beforehand, followed by a main course. People who came after us had already received their main course, so after 45 minutes we asked... it was almost there... asked again after 20 minutes, and it was almost there... it took another 15 minutes. Mistakes happen, but be honest and offer a drink. It seemed like the server who took the order in our corner made more mistakes.

What a disappointment! After a lovely walk, I popped into Jooi because it looked inviting. I ordered gratinated onion soup, and what a disappointment! I'd never had such bad onion soup—uh, I mean, salty broth. The waitress confirmed that it would be gratinated with cheese and bread, straight from the oven, but alas. She thanked me for the feedback. It's so disappointing that nothing further was done about it! Confirming something is wrong and then just casually presenting the bill is simply unacceptable! What a shame, a missed opportunity!

A really lovely restaurant with a nice selection of dishes and very friendly staff. We felt very comfortable. Dinner was incredibly delicious. Breakfast was okay, the selection was rather small, and the scrambled eggs were unfortunately usually cold.

Unfortunately… We'd already finished our lunch, and still no drinks. We asked four different servers: "Coming soon"; "Well, it's busy"; "I'll check." As a gesture of goodwill, we could only pay for our dishes. 😳 We heard several tables cancel their orders because they were taking far too long. This shouldn't happen in a tourist town like Egmond, even if it's sunny during the Christmas holidays and the winter fair.

We dined here on Christmas Day. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, the food was good, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The Christmas card on the table was a lovely personal touch! One small point for improvement: in cold weather, the opening and closing of the door creates a draft in the restaurant. Perhaps this could be remedied with a curtain or a partition? We'd love to come back next year :)

What a wonderful evening we had here. The staff were very attentive and super friendly. The food was truly a revelation, if not standard. You don't see diamond hare very often. Even the dish without meat was excellent. In short, we will definitely come back here, and we will certainly recommend it to others.

Located directly at the main exit/on the main road, this restaurant offers a breakfast buffet or an evening drink. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.

The price-performance ratio was absolutely fine. The service from Kim and Loren was outstanding! Always a smile. Even though the restaurant was full, we felt like Kim was there just for us. A truly dedicated server. They alone make it worthwhile to be a guest.

We were there this afternoon and ordered two beers, a fish soup, and a Strammer Max. The drinks were delivered very quickly, and the fish soup arrived five minutes later. My partner said it was delicious. The Strammer Max took... After half an hour, I politely asked if they'd forgotten the toast. The answer was: it always takes longer. After another half hour, I asked the waiter to prepare the bill without the Strammer Max. The place wasn't so busy that we could have forgotten it in the rush. What a shame!

Delicious food, not expensive and very cozy

The review from two years ago was changed from 5 to 2 in 2025: the quality of lunch and service has steadily declined. Previously, there were almond crunch and nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, but now there are no extras on your plate (two! pieces of bell pepper), just the basics. Carpaccio was a kind of smoked meat. It used to be packed on a Sunday, and now 30-40% of the tables are occupied. 2022: Lunch on the terrace. All the different dishes were excellent! The goat cheese sandwich with a variety of nuts, carpaccio on bread, and the bread/ham/brie platter with three different toppings were delicious! I haven't had such a good meal in a long time.

We went for breakfast for the first time in Egmont and discovered Joop. Good breakfast and atmosphere. Cozy.

The food was small but okay. Juices, coffee, cappuccino, muesli, cheese, sausage, bread, rolls, eggs, sausages, croissants, fruit. What annoyed me was that my child was charged full price, even though the menu says that children pay less. That's why I won't go there again.

Another delicious meal at Jooi, this time the rump steak and the tenderloin, wonderfully tender and served with fresh vegetables and unlimited fries. Delicious with a bottle of Pinot Grigio blush rosé and a bottle of sparkling water, all for a very reasonable price and with excellent service. Definitely recommended in the always friendly and welcoming Egmond aan Zee... 👍🥂👌

The breakfast buffet was good, with plenty of choices: delicious rolls, croissants, yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, small pancakes, cold cuts, cheese, etc. We arrived around 9:30 AM. Unfortunately, there was no buttermilk, milk, or fruit juice. We thought it would be replenished! Unfortunately, the breakfast buffet wasn't replenished until 11:00 AM. Luckily, there was cappuccino ☕

I highly recommend Jooi! We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. Everything was delicious. The seating is very comfortable, both inside and outside. The waiters speak several languages ​​and are always cheerful. We'll be back!

We stayed in the hotel next door and had dinner here one evening. We decided on fish and chips. This was extremely tasty and a normal sized portion at a reasonable price for us. The service was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely come by again.
