We had a lovely high tea with delicious snacks. The tea could have been a bit more special (loose tea you can pour yourself) instead of a regular flavored tea bag, but otherwise everything was very well taken care of. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy.

A delightful restaurant with excellent service. The dishes were fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The chef even came to our table to ask if everything was to our liking—a lovely touch. The staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The wine list was impressive, and the recommendations were spot-on. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed. The tables were well-spaced, providing privacy. I've rarely had such a wonderful dining experience. I'd love to return.

Great restaurant for a nice lunch

A lovely restaurant in a lovely waterfront location. I had a beef stew sandwich, but it was more of a roll with sweet sauce and very little meat. That can happen, but the young staff reacted very nonchalantly. A shame.

Lunch was delicious. One of the six of us asked for just plain water. That wasn't possible, even though we were ordering plenty of other drinks. She even joked, "Is the tap broken?" But she responded that she wasn't obligated to give water. The extensive lunch was very tasty. The decor is a bit dated, though.

Awesome setting. Nice variety of sandwiches, salads and traditional Dutch snacks. Service is superb.

A fine restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, but unfortunately we didn't receive the promised salad, which was a shame. We also found the price-quality ratio a bit expensive, especially because the meat turned out to be quite tough, which was disappointing. Despite these drawbacks, we still had a great meal and ended the evening in a good mood, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Unfortunately, the quality of Long Island has declined significantly. We've been going there for over 15 years, but this was the last time. The staff was friendly, but not very attentive. After being seated and given the drinks menu, it took a long time for our order to be taken. We had the prawns as an appetizer; they were sitting in a lake of butter, lacking any seasoning, and were overcooked—very disappointing. For the main course, I asked for steak medium rare and received it medium well. It also tasted a bit bland, very tough, and sat on a bed of extremely salty mushrooms. The pepper sauce also seemed like it came from a can. Furthermore, the wine selection was very limited, and the glass I had was mediocre. Such a shame for such a beautiful location.

I hosted a retirement party here. It was perfectly organized, down to the last detail. We had a separate area with our own patio. Everything was perfectly arranged, everything was discussed, and the service was incredibly friendly. They were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, as were the snacks and drinks. I highly recommend this for a celebration. A top-notch venue, a 10 out of 10 for everything.

A lovely restaurant on Tolenburgse Plas lake, with comfortable seating both inside and out. Friendly staff and delicious food and drinks. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Good food and nice sitting ah water

We spontaneously dropped in for lunch without a reservation. We had the étagere, a kind of tasting menu with bread and various toppings. Very tasty. The coffee is good too. Friendly people. Great spot right on the water, so you can take a short walk afterwards—wonderful.

Yesterday afternoon we had a high tea in Long Island because of my daughter's bachelorette party What a disappointment that was The quantity was very little and also not special First the savory snacks in one go after waiting for 45 minutes, they were gone within 10 minutes (including just bittergarnituur) Wait a while again for the sweet treats, same old story In total the snacks could fit on 2 cake plates per person and that for 35 euros Everything very small and measured Only 1 chocolate the size of a euro per person Clotted cream, still too little for 2 people, we had to share among 4 ladies The snacks came on a kind of tin on the table, not even on a cake stand Not a flower to be seen anywhere (dishes, in a vase or on the napkins) No extra attention for the future bride Ask for extra tea water, tea bags, waste bin It was boiling hot and I stuck to the plastic chair We complained but nothing was done about it No 'sorry to hear' or a gesture of offering something extra We had a coffee ourselves afterwards because we were still hungry If you don't want to put energy into it, don't offer it

We enjoyed the location and the food with a group of five, good parking facilities and friendly and knowledgeable staff

So our experience is very bad, because our order was not complete and I was the only one who received the food because they forgot about my girlfriend, while I mainly received the first dish and the second soup, which is the second big mistake. To sum it up, I ate alone even though there were two of us and the Asian-style salmon was not even noticed by the waitresses that bread and not corn belonged to it, since that's what they had on offer. The only good thing is that the chef is really excellent, the food is divine and the environment is great, otherwise it's a flop.

Hospitality starts with a friendly welcome and giving the guest the freedom to choose a table themselves instead of PLACING them🤭👎 The quality of the food and service leaves a lot to be desired.

Unfortunately a bad experience, this used to be a good restaurant. We came in with two people and were not sure whether we were going to have lunch or just a drink. We were not allowed to sit outside anymore. I opened a tea bag (cardboard and folded), there was a chewing gum stuck in it). Got a mumbled apology. Ordered an omelette but I found it particularly sober. Two thin slices of farmer's bread, three eggs with bacon. No decoration with lettuce leaf or anything like that. I had to pay almost 13 euros for this omelette. This was mentioned to the same person but nothing was done about it.

Terrible, unfriendly service, whole patio was empty, " you cannot sit outside, it is all reserved, next time you better make a reservation"' reply from the waiter..when I was finished the patio still was not even half full...there will be no next time..dude....

Nice place, busy restaurant, tasty dishes

First time having lunch there. We were "glazed" to a very uninviting place inside the restaurant. We were not allowed to choose a table ourselves, while there were still empty tables inside and outside for a long time. The tables were like canteen tables in a workshop, a steel frame with a top of dirty planks with a space in between. Nice to be able to drop food on your lap. But anyway, first ordered a drink. It took a while before it came, but it was tasty. After half an hour we were asked if we wanted anything else. Of course!. But we had not received a card or menu. So we had to wait for those things again. Then we ordered a vegetarian sandwich and 2 meat dishes. It certainly took more than half an hour before that came to the table. The vegetarian sandwich was a disaster, a soft roll with half-baked vegetarian schnitzel, I could not taste the cheese that was supposed to be on it. The meat dishes were well presented and tasted delicious. Then after a while we were able to order another dessert. A cheesecake. Nicely presented but not tasting like a cheesecake at all. Too bad we were there for almost 2.5 hours before everything was on the table. Then the waiter (or host) needs to learn a course in customer friendliness and alert his staff to keep an eye on the guests more quickly. In short, Long Island could better be called Long-Misery. So there will definitely be no follow-up visit from us.

Great location with nice view. Lady came to ask for drinks but did not get a drinks menu to choose something. Then immediately asked for a dinner menu to be sure. After waiting 20 minutes to be able to place an order but got up and walked away

This is the 4th time I have eaten at Long Island and 4 times I was told that there would be a new menu where the chef's suggestion would be included. There is still no new menu, how difficult can that be. The menu is very limited, the staff likes to talk to each other in groups and when I asked to speak to the chef/boss he refused to speak to me and stayed in the kitchen. The location of Long Island is beautiful and the restaurant looks great, but there is a lot to change about the menu and the service. Too bad, because there is more potential in this restaurant.

Nice spot on the water, although most of the spots are in the shade. Service was kind and patient, food delicious. For dessert I had the trifle, which was really intimidatingly large. I would say almost more content than my sea bream as a main course. The interior is fine, there are really nice chairs on the terrace with a good backrest, but could be a bit more modern, but that is also my taste.

Great location for lunch and dinner!

We wanted to have lunch but no order was taken. Not even after we went in to ask for it ourselves. At checkout the response to our feedback was oh fine. Maybe some training in customer service?

Me and my dad wanted to get a small luch with the two of us. We were very friendly brought to a table, after that nothing happend. No menu no drinks. After 15 min we stood up and left. Very disappointing

Cozy restaurant. Meet up here regularly with friends. If the weather is nice, you can sit on the terrace with a beautiful view. It is also always nice to walk around the lake before or afterward.

The surroundings and the restaurant are beautiful. Unfortunately we did not get the place that was promised and that was difficult with a wheelchair. We went there for lunch to agree on a place because of a wheelchair. The children were sweet, but were not treated nicely. Even a look when one fell fell. And really they behaved really well. We had coloring and puzzle books with us. That's what they've been doing. Then they were allowed to use our mobile phone. So they barely moved. Really a shame!

The steak was tough and cheewie, we were with a group of over 12 and no one enjoyed their food. Great location and friendly staff.. Might be best for a few drinks and some finger food.. Cannot recommend the dinner menu though.

Yesterday we held our farewell drink for neighbors, acquaintances and friends at Long Island. We can only say that - partly due to the great service, service and delicious snacks - we said a more than successful farewell to Hoofddorp and people dear to us. And now on to the Achterhoek. My table companions had a nice meal, but the round steak was really bad. The piece of meat itself and the method of preparation. No compensation at checkout. No more repeat for us.

Always good food and good atmosphere here

Today, February 15, I reserved a table for my wife and me. Got off to a good start. We ordered a glass of red wine and an apple juice. 1 Starter and 2 main courses. The starter arrived very nicely after 15 minutes. After this the trouble started. In the 75 minutes that followed, no one came to us to ask if we wanted something to drink or to tell us that our food would take a little longer. Finally I asked for the bill because we had had enough. When asking for the bill, the response was very cold and without any further excuses or anything like that, we were allowed to pay for the apple juice, red wine and the starter. I've never really experienced this before. Never again!!

The atmosphere on the 'island' is good and so is the food. In the summer there is a nice terrace with a view of the Toolenburgerplas.

Nice atmosphere, excellent service. I was there on a Wednesday afternoon in October outside the holidays and it was almost completely full. Reservations are wise. You can also work well there, there is free WiFi available. Reconnect every 20 minutes.

We regularly have lunch here (4 friends). Unfortunately this time it was substandard. Lunch tray for 2 people was very simple, both in terms of quantity and range, but the price was certainly not cheap! Latte machiato cold and not fresh in taste, ginger tea really minimal (3 mini pieces per glass, taste -> plain water). Service was that the ginger tea was not on the bill, nice! However, we will not come again next time, unfortunately for this restaurant.

Immediately offered drinks and ordered food. It took a very long time before it was finished. Tasted delicious, very salty but great.

Don't show up without a reservation because even if more than half the tables are empty, they won't be interested in serving you. booking via the website does not work. the service was quite unpleasant, I had the impression that our wallets were judged based on our appearance.

I had made a reservation on Monday for today, clearly stating 2 high teas and sitting outside. When we come in, she had reserved a table inside, I said no, the weather is nice and I have clearly reserved outside. Equal irritations among staff were dropped somewhere between each other. Very wrong. I clearly stated it, she said put it in, so don't. Then a very long wait for tea and high tea. Savory etagere was good. But after a long wait, when I got tea again, the teapot was dangerously placed in the corner on my side. We ordered another coffee and ice tea, a long wait, people who ordered drinks after us got it right when we said we haven't received anything yet. Then came the sweet etagere, well that was very little and for 33 euros it is not worth it. I have had more high tea and cheaper and better. Service very poor, not customer friendly, we will never come here again. Such a shame before it was good but had deteriorated considerably.

Nice location and good food, parking is free

Nice location with nice view. Had to wait a very long time for the food. That's why they kept asking if you wanted something to drink. So bad for the final bill.

I had bread with salmon, shrimp and avocado. That was nicely done. What is just a shame is that the shrimps are not Dutch but Norwegian. That makes the dish less attractive.

Update review July 31: Reception, space and staff are still nice and nice! The food was, once again, really, really good! Really enjoyed the beautiful and tasty dishes. What's a shame is the music outside is too loud. As I also indicated at Floor 17 and other places, this disrupts the entire dinner experience. I think lunch and drinks are slightly different, but music that is too loud is really not pleasant during a dinner around 7 p.m. Music belongs in the background, provided you are at a concert or event. I thought that was such a shame. Furthermore, it is not convenient that smokers are only allowed to smoke one floor below instead of on the terrace itself. After all, smoke rises... up (1+1). It meant that we didn't have dessert (I have heart problems, so I really can't have that). I really wanted to say that. Furthermore, it remains a nice, beautiful place to come. The ladies were again very friendly and attentive. Next time I will ask for a table further away from the "smoking floor", then the experience should be as usual. What a wonderful place! Beautiful restaurant, attractive, cozy and clean. Very friendly (and attentive) staff. Menu looks good and you have a wide choice. The food is also really tasty. The beautiful fries were really delicious! The scroppino was also delicious! Tip: also look at the chalkboard where special dishes are listed for that day. Used it for the first time, so outside the menu and it was a delicious variation. Some practical information: -Disabled people can also sit comfortably everywhere. -The ladies' toilets look clean. -You can easily park your car in the large (free) parking lot. -Kitchen closes at 10pm It was a lot of fun and that's why I like coming here!

On entering the restaurant, we asked for a table, and the gentleman asked us if we had a table booked, and we said no, then the gentleman put us at a big corner table seems it a table for 6 or 8 people and out of sight and at this point the whole restaurant inside is empty but he tells us (3 people )to sit in the corner and 1min later I aksd one of the waiters why we cannot sit at the outside tables or anywhere else in the restaurant she said no we can sit anywhere inside or outside who told us we cannot sit outside or we can only site in the corner table,she was very nice and smiled and said you can move outside, take it is you read it but that plain and simple rudeness from that staff member he made it clear that we are not welcome and discriminated against us. One last thing it makes no sense to take drinks order but you don't give us the drinks menu and we were told to order drinks 1st before we can receive the men. Zero stars 🌟
