A really nice spot by the water! When it started raining, we were allowed to move. The drinks were good. I ordered scones and they were okay. I think it depends more on personal preference. You get some nice fruit with them, as well as clotted cream and jam. The people are friendly. I also saw that events are sometimes held there.

The burger was cold and dry. It also didn't meet my expectations of a Black Angus burger. The fries were excellent.

We had a high tea with a group that was very disappointing in several respects! 1. We were given pots of Earl Grey tea instead of various tea bags. 2. The brownies were half frozen 3. The hot snacks were lukewarm/almost cold 4. The filling on the sandwiches was tasteless: one with avocado spread with one very thin slice of egg, and one with cheese 5. The staff were very young and it took a terribly long time before the second round arrived 6. The tea was barely refilled 7. No chocolates, pastries, profiteroles, or cookies with the sweet round, only one mini macaron each, one brownie that was frozen, one mini mango cake, and one very small glass with strawberry and cream

Beautiful location by the Toolenburgse Plas in Hoofddorp. Nice menu with delicious dishes. And be sure to try their own brewed beer "Het Spoor Bijster". Recommended for lunch and dinner. But today, Sept. 14, 2026 Unfortunately, they serve wine with Dutch frugality. Four sips and the wine is gone. So just one glass of wine and then we left. A shame, because it is a nice place by the lake. All comments are welcome. Also from Long Island!

We ordered the seafood skewer pasta. However, it wasn’t clear enough from the menu that the pasta itself came with makhani sauce. Unfortunately, we really didn’t like the taste, especially because of the strong cumin flavor, and found the dish quite disappointing. We also mentioned this while paying at the counter, but the waiter responded in an irritated manner, which made the experience even more unpleasant.

Restaurant Long Island is a wedding venue, and they live up to this title through their service, their proactive approach, and their flexibility! Going the extra mile here is not the exception, but the norm. The schedule you provide is thoroughly reviewed, ensuring they know exactly what to do while also being able to answer questions. We were able to choose the dinner menu ourselves based on one of the dinner formats (BBQ, buffet, à la carte). The Long Island menu is à la carte and consists of tasting platters of appetizers and desserts, which makes it extra festive. As regulars, we were able to select which dishes would be included in the tasting platters and what the main course choices for the guests would be, based on what had previously been on the menu and what we really enjoyed. This meant it wasn't a standard dinner, but one featuring our favorites, with a separate menu for vegetarians. The menus were compiled and printed free of charge in the layout of our wedding invitation, and exceptions to the fixed meat and vegetarian menus were no problem. These guests received a separate menu tailored to their specific situation. We were able to specify exactly what the appetizers at the reception should look like, such as replacing the standard olives with M&M's, and how many rounds of savory snacks we wanted at the evening party. All our guests were impressed by the food and the atmosphere throughout the entire day: arrival, ceremony, reception, dinner, and evening party. We couldn't have imagined a better location to celebrate our big day! If I have to mention just one point of criticism, it is that during the reception we served only one round with a limited number of cocktails and a mocktail, which meant it would take longer to help cut the cake and pass it around. The person who made the cake was there and happily took over! On the other hand, the invoice was drawn up very reasonably: the supplier package was only for drinks, and afterwards we were informed that we also received the suppliers' dinners for the agreed amount, and the evening party running over didn't cost us any extra. Moreover, we received a nice personalized gift as a memento of our wedding day at Long Island. If we throw another big party, it will definitely be here! Rented spaces: Queens Hall with adjoining terrace up to the stairs leading to the waterside terrace. Manhattan Hall for storing belongings and changing clothes. It was still easy to climb the stairs with a large wedding dress. The disabled toilet downstairs made using the restroom with a large dress easy.

It's a beautiful place. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were able to order from the waiters and speak a little French. We dined on the terrace overlooking a lake. A moment of complete tranquility and peace. I highly recommend it. It's the perfect place for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. However, remember to book in advance.

We had a delicious meal on the terrace. They do move fast, though, and you regularly have to tell several staff members that you want to wait a bit for the next round. 😊 Otherwise, the service and waitstaff were excellent and friendly. 👍🏽 However, the rattan patio chairs are terrible. The armrests are too low and the cushions too thin. So that would definitely be an area for improvement, because you won't be comfortable sitting on them for a whole evening. You actually notice it immediately when you sit down because you can't find a place for your arms, and all four of us said so! So, a tip!

I have to admit, I was genuinely surprised by how delicious the food was! The service was excellent - the waitresses were smiling, very friendly, and incredibly helpful. The non-alcoholic cocktails were delicious, and the meat, as well as the presentation of the whole dish, was absolutely amazing. Everything was truly tasty. Highly recommended!

Nice to eat here by the water, various seating areas, tasty food, and they do their best to make everyone happy. However, our 8-month-old baby can't color yet, but an A for effort!

Lunch with family. The food is decent, but the atmosphere is less so. It is very noisy inside, and where we sat was quite cramped. I could barely make myself heard. It's a shame; this restaurant was better a while ago.

I had lunch with friends this afternoon. One of my table companions had Carpaccio, two others had salmon, and I had a fried egg. What struck me was that the Carpaccio and salmon dishes were beautifully presented on the plate. The fried egg, on the other hand, was "bare." Two slices of bread with ham and cheese topped with three fried eggs. No garnish such as a piece of tomato or cucumber or a little lettuce. It was fine otherwise, but presentation matters too.

We come here regularly. Lovely location with consistently friendly service. It doesn't matter if you come here just for a cup of coffee, lunch, or dinner. You always feel welcome.

My wife had saved up some money and surprised me with dinner at Long Island. It was quiet, so we were allowed to choose our own table. I ended up looking for the menus myself because no one came to serve us. When I opened the menu, we were asked what we wanted?? Apart from the main course, the food and drinks were otherwise fine. The steaks we both ordered (€32.50 x 2) were bone dry! I wouldn't even pay 3 euros for them. The chef could really use a lesson. In hindsight, I regret not having said anything about it. We will only be coming back here for a drink.

The setting here is truly beautiful. Especially in nice weather. Unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time for service. They don't walk around in between, and you can't order extra or indicate if something isn't to your liking. The ginger tea came with two thin slices. Really insufficient to provide any flavor. Unfortunately for us, we also got a kletskop with it. Very disappointing. Tip: A better alternative if the kletskoppen are sold out. Dry mini stroopwafels aren't that 😉

Today I had a cup of coffee and fries at Restaurant Long Island. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. My son accidentally knocked over his apple juice, but the waitress reacted very understandingly and immediately offered a new drink. In short: a cozy restaurant with excellent and hospitable service. Definitely recommended!

And an extra napkin, please... The apple pie, with some fresh fruit, for dessert was tasty. But it would taste even better if warmed up a bit in the microwave.

Located at the side of lake, which creates a nice atmosphere. Lovely decorations and interior looks very beautiful. The bread was nice with garlic butter but it was cold. have to pipette into the olive oil and then dip your bread into it. One of us ordered shrimps as a starter, but it was a cold .

Unfortunately, I found the high tea I had here to be disappointing. The savory round was all very tasty and full of flavor, but I didn't think the sweet round was a success. I don't like mousse (it's a matter of taste), but virtually everything had a mousse-like taste/substance. Mango mousse/cake tartlet, white chocolate bonbon filled with a sort of orange mousse, Greek yogurt mousse. No real tartlet or anything with brown chocolate. The tea was also disappointing: 2 pots of Earl Grey tea. So, there really should have been more variety in both the sweets and the tea. The service was also very limited, even for the table. Otherwise, the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and cozy. I've often had positive experiences in the past, but today was unfortunately a letdown.

The choice of sandwiches for vegetarians is very limited! I could choose a panini but didn't want white bread, so I opted for a brown roll with truffle brie and honey. I received the "sandwich" as a kind of toastie, but made with focaccia. I had asked for a brown brie roll; the focaccia toastie was swapped for a brown toastie with brie, garnished with 2 walnuts, about 8 raisins, and 4 sprigs of dried arugula, all for the price of €14.00. I asked a waitress if I might have misread something because I received a toastie but thought I had ordered a sandwich. It turned out that it did indeed say Focaccia with truffle brie and honey, but it definitely didn't say toastie! I would never have chosen a toastie for €14.00. When paying, I recounted my experience again, but once again it was dismissed with "I will pass it on," which is very disappointing. The salmon and tuna sandwiches looked good and were tasty according to those who chose them; the fried egg sandwich was also good. It is a real shame that the vegetarian brie sandwich really did not meet expectations. I could also have chosen a croquette sandwich, but you had to pay €1.50 more for the vegetarian croquette! I have never experienced that before!

Every time I go there, it's different. Sometimes you have to wait a very long time for your food or even just to order a drink. Other times it goes much faster. Still, it's always just as busy, so I think it must just be down to the staffing.

We dined at Long Island with 10 people for my birthday. Beforehand, we looked for a good spot in the room because we wanted to sit at a large rectangular table. They were very helpful and on the evening itself, everything was beautifully set up with nice festive items on the table. The food was delicious, well-coordinated, the wines were wonderful, and a big compliment to the staff for their enthusiasm and good care. We will definitely dine here more often with our family!

Great location, especially in nice weather. We had a private party in the adjacent room. Plenty of space and a great atmosphere. It was a bit chilly at first. Compliments on the food, because even with the reheating, it stayed delicious. You don't see that very often. The service was also friendly and fast, so we had a lovely evening.

I've noticed that getting a cup of coffee here is often problematic. We came last Saturday. A few tables were available (around 11:45 a.m.), so we just had a quick cup of coffee and a piece of cake. Well, everything was reserved, and by the grace of God, we were able to sit in a slightly darker section. After we finished our drinks, almost all the tables were still free. Perhaps a more creative approach to reservations would contribute more to hospitality.

Today, at the invitation of friends, we had lunch at Long Island. It was striking that the logistics were simply excellent compared to previous visits. The service was attentive, and the food was simply delicious. It was quite busy, but you didn't feel overwhelmed. Everything went very smoothly. No stress, noise, or loud music. We had a wonderful time. It's interesting that I read on the website that dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant, only on the covered patio, yet there were dogs in the restaurant? Or do you have to go through the restaurant to get to the covered patio?

I went to a big family lunch there (40+ people). It must be a great place in summer. With a little lake in front. And a terrace. As it was it was a cold winter day, And the parking lot was a big skating rink. No problem for the cars, but a bit dangerous to walk to the restaurant.

We had a lovely high tea with delicious snacks. The tea could have been a bit more special (loose tea you can pour yourself) instead of a regular flavored tea bag, but otherwise everything was very well taken care of. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy.

A lovely restaurant in a lovely waterfront location. I had a beef stew sandwich, but it was more of a roll with sweet sauce and very little meat. That can happen, but the young staff reacted very nonchalantly. A shame.

A fine restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, but unfortunately we didn't receive the promised salad, which was a shame. We also found the price-quality ratio a bit expensive, especially because the meat turned out to be quite tough, which was disappointing. Despite these drawbacks, we still had a great meal and ended the evening in a good mood, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Unfortunately, the quality of Long Island has declined significantly. We've been going there for over 15 years, but this was the last time. The staff was friendly, but not very attentive. After being seated and given the drinks menu, it took a long time for our order to be taken. We had the prawns as an appetizer; they were sitting in a lake of butter, lacking any seasoning, and were overcooked—very disappointing. For the main course, I asked for steak medium rare and received it medium well. It also tasted a bit bland, very tough, and sat on a bed of extremely salty mushrooms. The pepper sauce also seemed like it came from a can. Furthermore, the wine selection was very limited, and the glass I had was mediocre. Such a shame for such a beautiful location.

I hosted a retirement party here. It was perfectly organized, down to the last detail. We had a separate area with our own patio. Everything was perfectly arranged, everything was discussed, and the service was incredibly friendly. They were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, as were the snacks and drinks. I highly recommend this for a celebration. A top-notch venue, a 10 out of 10 for everything.

We spontaneously dropped in for lunch without a reservation. We had the étagere, a kind of tasting menu with bread and various toppings. Very tasty. The coffee is good too. Friendly people. Great spot right on the water, so you can take a short walk afterwards—wonderful.
