Restaurant Lugar in Wijk 00 Waalre

Because our favorite restaurant only served lunch on the terrace and we weren't in the mood for that, we went to Lugar again. We had reserved in advance and got our desired table. However, they had rearranged the chairs slightly, causing one person to be looking mainly at a wall. That was a bit of a downside. We had an intermediate course of lobster with lobster ravioli as a starter, and it tasted very good. After that, I ate the Truffle gnocchi and the tournedos, and in my case, with sweetbreads. My dining companion had fish from the set menu. We had an excellent meal.

With a pleasant group of 6 people, we enjoyed the hospitable reception and, following good recommendations, an excellent dinner with a wide selection for our party. There is a pleasant atmosphere with attentive staff. It is definitely worth doing this again.

Great food, great atmosphere and service!

My first visit to this restaurant was with my colleague for a Christmas dinner. My initial impression was that I could smell a lovely seafood aroma while walking to the restaurant from a nearby housing estate where I parked my car, a six-minute walk away. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by the server who was taking my jacket. The environment was nice and cosy. We were offered a small bite of an appetizer and ordered a Proeverij Lugar as our starters. My view of the Proeverij Lugar, which came with a very small portion and a small bowl of tasty soup probably only a few spoonfuls, was not worth the money, despite being very tasty. For the main course, we chose the Portuguese seafood platter (Prato del mar Cataplana - Portugese vispan gevuld met kreeft, scampi, coquille, mosselen, oester en reuzengarnaal geserveerd met spaghettini aioli). It looked fantastic, with half a lobster per person. The taste was good, especially the broth, which we did not realise until we had finished half the bowl. It came with spaghetti, but if it had been served with broth, it would have been more delicious. Overall, the food was nice and complemented the cosy atmosphere. We had to pay €70 ++ per person which I think is too much.

We visited this restaurant for a family member’s birthday, and it was a fantastic experience. With a Portuguese chef leading the kitchen, the 4-course menu was fresh, delicious, and full of authentic flavors. The service was perfect from start to finish, and the chef himself even came to check on us and make sure everything was OK. The evening ended with a surprising dessert. Highly recommended!

Nice restaurant. We ordered the business menu. 3 courses. The starter wasn't particularly exciting, but the main course was delicious. The dessert (creme brulee) was very thin and therefore quite dry and not creamy. The ice cream and chocolate mousse were delicious. What really struck us was the lack of enthusiasm from the staff. We ordered an expensive wine, but it wasn't refilled even once. We had to pour our own water. All in all, not a problem, but a bit of a shame. There were four tables occupied, so we had plenty of time. The wine list is quite expensive; it could do with some cheaper wines. Anyway, we had a nice afternoon, but we think there's room for improvement.

De portie per gang matig tot klein en de smaakbalans totaal uit evenwicht. Op de beleving/klacht richting de manager werd door hem onvoldoende feedback gegeven. Jammer en incorrect en Lugar onwaardig. Misschien heeft de drukte in het restaurant hier parten gespeeld? Advies dit als leermoment te evalueren en weer op naar een 8.

Hele goede ervaring! Het verrassingsmenu van 5 gangen was heerlijk, met veel vis en asperges op allerlei manieren. Bediening erg attent, snel en vriendelijk. Het is er ook fijn buiten zitten.

Alright, let me tell you about my evening at Restaurant Lugar. First of all, when was the last time you walked into a restaurant and instantly felt like they’d been waiting just for you? That’s exactly how the staff made us feel like VIPs, but without all the fuss. Now, let’s talk food. Ever had a seafood dish that made you wonder, ‘Is it okay to feel this strongly about shrimp?’ Because wow—the seafood here was as fresh as it gets. I mean, the fish probably had a shorter commute to the plate than I did. And if you’re a wine lover, brace yourself. They bring out a wine list that’s like a little black book of perfect matches. By the end of the night, I think we all found “the one.” Also, they’ve got all the bases covered with options for vegetarians and gluten-free folks, which is rare enough that I had to ask, ‘Am I in France or Waalre?’ Turns out, both, French-inspired dishes right here in North Brabant. Bottom line: if you’re looking for an evening of amazing food, great wine, and a few laughs with the staff, Lugar is the place. Just make sure to bring a friend because you’ll want someone to share this with…or just someone to watch your face as you take your first bite!

Ten eerste heerlijk gegeten en een hele fijne ambiance. Je hebt wel eens van die dagen als het fout gaat is het heel de avond bij dezelfde tafel, en die tafel waren wij... waren kleine foutjes waardoor de avond dan niet zo lekker loopt. Zowel voor ons als gast maar ook sneu voor personeel. Hopelijk een incident. Zeer vriendelijke gastheer en personeel.

Very good restaurant, quite chic, I was slightly underdressed. Shirt recommended. What you get on your plate is simply a feast and it seems as if this restaurant has a Michelin star. Maybe that's true. However, that is not reflected in the price. Very good prices, I had a vegetarian menu and didn't miss the meat, my partner had a sirloin steak and he said it was great. Perfect. The service was also of an excellent standard. Friendly and correct. They took the time for you even though the restaurant was completely full. Real compliments, chapeau. Recommended!

We went here with high expectations. However, we are disappointed. Upon entering we arrived in a beautifully decorated establishment. However, it quickly became apparent at the table that the service was of inferior standards. For example, the wine and the dishes were often explained in the same way or frequently. The dishes themselves were also mediocre to poor. The low point was the lobster bisque that came across as a cup of soup. The motivation was clearly there, but the execution was less so. I hope for Lugar's sake that this was a one-off performance because this wasn't nearly worth the money. Some dishes were tasty and other dishes were unfortunately not good and that is very disappointing for the price you pay. It's a shame that it turned out this way, we won't give it another chance, but I hope it will improve in the near future.

Extremely disappointing, as a table of 4, there was no attention from the service, we had to ask for everything ourselves several times, noisy groups present, employees did not intervene, received dishes from other tables twice, otherwise the menu was very ordinary and disproportionate price quality. Too bad I expected more after all the good stories.

De bediening was uitstekend, lief en attent, de keuken brigade miste echter de subtiliteit die ik van dit restaurant verwacht. Het kaas voorgerecht was zwaar en niet in balans, de zoete elementen in de truffel risotto was leuk geprobeerd maar geen succes en de zeeduivel was erg droog. Kortom, keuken team zet de puntjes op de I en maak de mooie verwachtingen van de kaart waar! Vanavond is dit niet gelukt… jammer.

In November 2x gedineerd in dit fraai aangeklede en smaakvol ingerichte restaurant. De kaart en de wijnen zien er veel belovend uit en de Chef wist dat beide avonden helemaal waar te maken. Vlees dat zacht gegaard was werd perfect gecombineerd met groentes die korte bereiding behoeven. En dan de opmaak op t bord: een lust voor t oog, grote klasse ! Toch was er beide keren een afknapper en dat was de zwarte brigade. De eigenaar gaat nogal selectief om met zijn gasten en geeft sommige uitgebreid aandacht en bedient ze persoonlijk, andere keurt hij geen blik waardig, zelfs bij oogcontact kan er geen woord van af. Daarnaast is de bediening weinig enthousiast over de mooie gerechten die ze mogen serveren. Kortom een geweldige avond met complimenten voor de Chef en zijn team, ze stijgen veruit boven de rest.
