Restaurant Saffraan in Wijk 06 Binnenstad

Prima eten, zeer waardeloze service en bediening. Met tijdslot van 2,5 uur gegeten. Op zich tijd genoeg, maar niet als de bediening zich pas na 3/4 uur meldt om eerste bestelling (drankjes) op te nemen wanneer pas half uur later de menukaart (op herhaaldelijk verzoek) wordt gebracht. En dan wel gewoon na 2.5 uur de rekening op tafel zetten. Echt slechte.

I've had the pleasure of enjoying many Turkish dishes elsewhere and this doesn't even come close to that. For us this is not Turkish cuisine. The food is very blandly seasoned. Really a missed opportunity, because the meat was cooked perfectly. The fresh fries were not a success, very limp. If you are going to eat here, preferably choose rice or bread. Too bad we had better food at the Turkish snack bars in Utrecht than here. If you are asthmatic or lung patient, take your oxygen mask with you. The staff smokes inside right next to the entrance. You are therefore required to smoke when entering, visiting the toilet or leaving. Nice atmosphere, that's certainly not the reason. Make sure you wear non-slip shoes, because when it rains the floor is slippery and the toilet is an ice skating rink. The staff is friendly and the service is excellent.

Service was good, sigara boregi was raw on the inside, so I sent it back. Iskender was tasty but don't expect a standard iskender. This one will be with pieces of meat made not from doner. I thought it was special and the meat was good. If you are in the area you can try this restaurant.

Nice tent on the canal. You can sit inside or outside. Super delicious food, freshly prepared and the choice is huge. Just a pity that you pay 10 euros for a dessert (2 pieces of baklava (which had no pistachio), scoop of ice cream, whipped cream, half a strawberry, half a kiwi, half an apple.

Delicious meal on the terrace. 3 course dish was of excellent quality. Everything was great.

On June 16 '24 I had dinner with two good friends of mine. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was good, the people who helped us were very friendly and kind.

Waitress was nice and friendly. Food came quite quickly too. This was because it was on a weekday and there were hardly any people there. But the food was very disappointing! You got so little for so much money… I had mixed kabab and actually got 3 pieces of meat: I wanted to come and eat here because it said so on the site. That they also sold Iranian, Syrian, Lebanese food but it was all Turkish only with the name saffron which is an Iranian spice. Misleading. I thought the meat was tasteless and not worth my money.

Very good experience! Inside it is cozy and nicely decorated. The employees are nice and helpful. We ordered a two-course vegetarian mezze. The starter was great with all kinds of tasty dips and bread. The main course was also good but a lot of cheese/fried/greasy food (who knows, meat/fish might have been different). That's why I wouldn't come back anytime soon, but I would definitely recommend it for once. If I compare it with other greasy food such as cheese fondue, Saffron was several times better.

My review of this restaurant is a bit mixed, leaning between 3 or 4 stars. The Sis Kebab and Dolma were very delicious, just what I was looking for! But the rest of the food didn't feel very authentic. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly, but waiting 40 minutes for our meals felt too long. Unfortunately, the dessert menu didn't offer many authentic Turkish options. The Kazandibi wasn't authentic, it just didn't taste right. Despite its flaws, I might consider going back if I'm craving Dolma and can't find a good kebab elsewhere.

the food was awesome, nordi and me orderd "sís kebab" it was really good, it even broke nordis mewing streak 😨 and made me feel nauseous bc of how full i was after, the service was awesome, only thing there was a man walking around like a mfk teacher that made me real uncomfortable 🙄, but for the rest nordi and me happy, beautiful clean place thank you guys guys

Beautiful sunny weather so deciding to take my soon-to-be-wife from Delft to Utrecht to Saffraan; so I call first for the availability. “For the waterside we don’t take reservations, you should try your luck, but for inside we can take reservation”. Okay thanks, and after 45 minutes ride we arrive, to see a full crowded restaurant. So I gently ask; can we take place on the water side whenever there’s place? - “there are people waiting inside for places outside” (the man is hardy looking at me and just moves away). The younger employer guides me to inside while I ask him if they maybe work with some waiting list (to understand how it works, since there’s no attention to the customer). Same as his colleague, he’s not into it but (while looking elsewhere); - “There are 6 people waiting, maybe 7” Oh okay. We’d like to wait too- I said but he didn’t even responded and walked away. While my fiancee goes to toilet, I sat down and in 5 minutes 3 people from tables outside move (they guided waiting people to outside). Meanwhile my fiancee came back; I told her that the waiting list is progressing fast, it’s worth to wait.. Right then young man comes with menu card (in a hurry) and I said gently “we can have some drinks but actually waiting for outdoor” - “That can take longgg time! You can maybe wait 2 hours or three hours” with a harsh voice (and seemingly irritated picks up the menu card and moves away…. My fiancee was not having it, I decided to move away but couldn’t let it to give the elder man feedback about the situation (that we came from long distance after made a call, and than this young man..) The elder man was also not having it, felt the need to say a quick ‘excuse’ and made hand movement like ‘go away’, while the young man was (almost) yelling that he said it in a normal way.. I told them I’ll never come back here, since they’re seemingly fed up with customers… Edit: the first two times I was there (years ago) it was really nice, good food. Don’t know what have made it change, maybe the rush of a full house? In no way you should want to treat a customer like they did today.

Fantastisch! Alles klopt. Het eten is fantastisch en de bediening is attent, vriendelijk en zeer gastvrij. Ik wil hier snel een keer naar terug.

Helaas een grote teleurstelling. Vond het al bijzonder dat het op 2 andere tafeltjes na leeg was op een vrijdagavond. Het eten smaakte helaas niet vers. De Turkse rijst was papperig en de bulgur zurig. De koude mezzes karig en het turkse brood koud en niet vers. Ook was het eten er altijd letterlijk binnen een paar minuten. Veel is al lang voor geprepareerd en dat proef je. De kip was zo dermate slecht dat ik deze niet kon eten en na 1 hap heb terug gestuurd. Heb toen iets anders besteld. Later zag ik dat de kip gewoon nog op de rekening staat. Ik gaf aan dat ik dat niet vond kunnen, maar de serveerster vond blijkbaar van wel. Echt een hele slechte zaak. Sfeerloos ook door het gebrek aan klanten. Bijna €110 afgerekend met z'n tweeën en niks bijzonders gegeten. Alles behoorlijk smakeloos. Zelfs het ijs van het toetje smaakte naar een goedkoop huismerk. Vermoed dat er kwalitatief slecht wordt ingekocht en men gaat voor goedkope producten.

The food was okay. . Just less hospitable. Every now and then we were asked if we had finished eating. While we weren't ready yet. The plates and crockery were also cleared away immediately while we were still seated. Quite strange considering it was quite quiet. We walked out of the restaurant feeling rushed and excited. This doesn't feel welcoming.

This place isn't even worth one star!! In terms of service. They don't even know how to address customers. The owner should study manners, it would help enormously and if you want to order something you had to ask for it dozens of times. You had to ask for the menu and drink, pfff. Not worth it at all to go there and then pay the full price. Because I didn't agree with a receipt. Can't do anything about them, okay, but you can address me in a normal way. Does not make any sense! I point out a number of things and then people say that there is no need to come anymore. Right away. In other words. People were already not welcome there. You immediately saw that in terms of service. You should say no to a customer. We will do everything we can to satisfy or improve your experience. No, what you say is not my problem. I HAVE LITERALLY EXPERIENCED THIS. Very rude. And you can respond to this, There is no point in camouflaging your performance!!! Do not hear this treatment. And that is not necessary. The food was disappointing. We reported this to the staff and, three times, nothing was done about it. The cola was dead and the mixed grill was warmed up and not fresh from the grill. The lamb was completely fried, hard, chewy and black. Too bad.

Prima restaurant, maar echt veel te duur voor wat je krijgt. Dus helaas was dit de eerste en de laatste keer.

Heerlijke smaaksensaties, veel variatie en niet alleen vlees. Aardig personeel prachtig ingericht aan de Oudegracht in enkele werfkelders, 1 van Utrechts fijnste restaurants.

Prijs/kwaliteitverhouding was prima! Heb heerlijk kunnen eten voor het geld wat ik heb uitgegeven. Persoonlijk niet echt een fan van Turks eten maar dit was echt hééérlijk. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar :)

Onlangs in dit gezellig restaurant wezen eten. Snelle behulpzame en correcte mensen in de bediening. We werden netjes naar een tafel gebracht en werden vriendelijk gevraagd om de registratie ivm corona maatregelen in te vullen. Lekker de Saffraan speciaal genomen, dit is een mix van diversen soorten vlees van de grill. Heerlijk mals en smaakvol. Wat we niet op kregen kon gewoon ingepakt worden. Een restaurant om vaker heen te gaan👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Wat een feestje is het altijd om hier te eten. Het eten is van zeer goede kwaliteit en het personeel super vriendelijk en gemotiveerd. Echt een aanrader! 👌

Super lekker gegeten! Eet vaak turks op verschillende plekken maar 1 van de weinige restaurants waar ook echt smaak aan het eten zit en de bediening snapt wat ze doen.

Wat een geweldige ontdekking in Utrecht! Ik ben echt dol op kruidige en gegrilde gerechten, en dit restaurant heeft mijn smaakpapillen echt verwend. De mediterrane gerechten waren heerlijk en authentiek. De sfeer was gezellig en de bediening was vriendelijk en attent. Mijn avond hier voelde als een warm welkom in de wereld van smaken die ik liefheb. Ik zal hier zeker vaker komen genieten!

Ik was gisterenavond in deze tent en ik heb in tijden niet zo lekker gegeten. De mezze's waren allemaal even goed, je moest oppassen dat je niet te veel at om nog ruimte voor het hoofdgerecht te hebben en dat is een goed teken. Het hoofdgerecht: het zag er prachtig uit, het vlees was uitstekend op smaak en smolt zowat in je mond. Het nagerecht was vers, knapperig, smakelijk en vooral niet té zoet. De serveersters waren attent, professioneel, behulpzaam en empathisch en in het bijzonder de jongedame die ons op ons wenken bediende was de allerbeste. Aan het einde van de avond nog een praatje gemaakt met het team. Hulde aan jullie! Conclusie: alles klopte dus een dik en dik verdiende vijf sterren

Enorm lekker eten! Raad iedereen aan om zeker bij Saffraan te eten. De medewerkers zijn enorm vriendelijk en de service is perfect. Wij hebben als gezin enorm genoten. Wij zullen vaker bij Saffraan gaan eten!!

Zeer vriendelijk en kundig personeel. Het eten is heerlijk. Goed van smaak, vers etc. We kregen niet precies dat wat we dachten te hebben besteld maar ondanks dat heerlijk. Blijft een aanrader.

The saffron restaurant/cafe is right on the side of the canal in central Utrecht. Great place to sit outside and watch boats etc pass by. Drinks were a reasonable price for a city and service was good. well worth a stop ( down and up steep steeps to canal side )

Weer heerlijk gegeten in dit super restaurant, vriendelijk personeel en een goede ambiance, wat een heerlijke gerechten heb je hier zeg.
