We had a delicious meal this evening at restaurant Sudersee in Hindeloopen. We ordered the seafood platter for two and didn't regret it. A wide selection of all kinds of tasty seafood, with homemade fries and three fresh salads. The service was friendly and efficient. We would love to come back here!

Nice, cozy, relaxed atmosphere. Delicious dishes, and the dessert in particular was superb!

A lovely and cozy restaurant with an extensive menu. We enjoyed delicious fish dishes. In addition, the staff was very friendly and the owner enthusiastic, who (upon request) is also happy to talk about his homemade liqueurs. Naturally, we took some liqueur home with us.

We were absolutely thrilled! The fish platter for two was incredibly delicious and very generous for two people. The salmon was simply outstanding. But all the other dishes were also extremely tasty and exceptionally well-prepared. On top of that, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated, making us feel right at home. For us, everything was just perfect. Highly recommended!

It was all amazing, especially the liqueur tasting afterwards. We had fish for six, which was fresh and absolutely top-notch. Even the service was phenomenal. A solid 10.

Giving this restaurant 5 stars doesn't really do it justice, because it deserves so much more. The service was incredibly attentive, and even our dog was treated to water and a little something special. The food was outstanding, and the value for money was excellent. This is by far the most delightful terrace in Hindeloopen. Quiet, a breeze, sun or shade, just what you want. Friendly, relaxed service. We had (late lunch) the shellfish with farafelle (slightly overcooked, but farafelle. It is notoriously tricky) and the fish platter (2p). In both dishes, the fish and shellfish were perfectly prepared. Mussels, razor clams, lobster, salmon, tuna... What a feast. Drink the reasonably priced Albariño with it and you are a happy person.

Absolutelty very good fish and service!

We had dinner at Restaurant Sudersee and left absolutely delighted. The food was top-notch, the service was very attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant. Especially for fish lovers, it's the first place I'd recommend in Hindeloopen.

To finish, we sampled some of the homemade liqueurs. Naturally, a bottle subsequently changed hands. We would definitely eat at Sudersee again.

€14.50 for a sandwich with mini shrimp croquettes and stale lettuce/tomato is not good value for money. You also get zero cola and zero Fanta without asking. And a waitress who was probably having an off day. Therefore only 2*

Sudersee Our first restaurant in Hindeloopen, and what a phenomenal find! I'm a real mussel lover and have ordered and tried mussels in many countries (Italy, Spain, Croatia, Portugal, France, Malta, Sardinia…) and restaurants. Sudersee tops them all 👍😋 The mussels are still prepared using traditional methods (not just put in a steamer and smothered with sauce), and the restaurant is run with great passion by the fourth generation. You can tell. The service is incredibly friendly and attentive, and nothing feels rushed. The on-site, small liqueur brewery is something truly special, and you can taste it there too (sampling is encouraged 🥰). We felt completely comfortable and well taken care of. Had to share my thoughts on this delicious restaurant. We don't eat out much, dining in The Netherlands is often expensive and I think, 😑 meh ... I could have made this better. But OMGoodness, this was a delicious meal. Fresh, delicious combinations, great service, gorgeous location. I had the Coquille and shrimp starter, the 3 fish variation meal and the warm Suiker brood for dessert. Heavenly! My love had sliptong and cheesecake. When in Hinderloopen you must include this as THE culinary stop during your stay.

What a nice restaurant. We had delicious fish. Interesting history of the owner. A family business where four generations have worked. It used to be a hotel but also a turkey farm. Very friendly staff. We were allowed to simply share an ice cream. Desserts are so big these days 😉. Besides fish, they have all sorts of other things too. Also, go to the restroom where a nice wallpaper displays old photos of the people of Hindelopen.

I don't write reviews very often, but this is highly recommended. Had delicious fish, professionally prepared. Tastes just like it came straight from the boat. The atmosphere and service are superb.

We went here for dinner on a Tuesday night and really blown away. The food was absolutely great we both got cod and then for dessert. We got the warm sugar bread. Everything tasted really great and good quality. The waitresses and waiter were very nice.

We just wanted to use the restroom, no problem for the friendly staff. Because of the cozy atmosphere, we stayed for dinner. We didn't regret it: great fish dishes, the salad was crisp and fresh, and the fries were homemade and not greasy. Second helpings of the side dishes were free. The young team is very attentive and courteous. The prices are reasonable. — Highly recommended!!!

By the water, in a peaceful setting, the food was very good (goat cheese and bacon salad...very good, and the fish of the day...perfectly cooked). Inside, there was a wide selection of liqueurs made on-site using aging barrels. The staff were incredibly friendly and always smiling.

Every year we come here once to eat a delicious mackerel salad sandwich. Nice location and super friendly and hospitable staff. Ideal for a stop on the motorcycle.

We had a delicious meal yesterday. We had the Sudersee fish platter, and everything was delicious. The salmon was especially perfect; I ate it first. It would have been even better if the platter had been placed on a hot plate.

We had a really delicious lunch, fish of the day (fried sardines) and mussels, delicious and cozy!

Extremely welcoming team! As a party of 5 (4 adults, a 1,5 yo and a dog) we were warmly welcomed! We got a nice and quite table; the dog got some water and even a treat (after asking). Our daughter was free to walk around and explore the restaurant. On top: the food was amazing and so was the service. Tot ziens!

We had lunch here; it has a nice atmosphere. We had to wait a bit before being helped. That wasn't a problem; the staff is friendly. The goat cheese salad and the garlic prawns were delicious. There's also a liqueur brewery. You can visit it. The owner, a 3rd generation, told us all about the brewery's origins and explained the liqueurs. We even got to try a few sips, which was so much fun. We bought a bottle of VoddeWijfje, a fruit liqueur. The story goes that a "voddewijf" (a woman who chewed the fruit and spat it out, hahaha). So if you're in Hindelopen, go check it out.

Hindeloopen is a wonderful town, and Restaurant Suderzee is an absolute asset. Highly recommended, especially if you're a big fish lover. We had a delicious meal there. A huge compliment to the friendly and very helpful staff. If we return to Hindeloopen, we'll definitely eat there again.

The restaurant is located in a truly beautiful setting, a small canal. The fries are incredibly delicious. Our recommendation is the fish from the daily special, which was fried rather than baked. For €17.50, you get a generous portion that's truly delicious. The duck was tasty but small. The salads were incredibly good! The service was also really friendly, accommodating, and uncomplicated.

We had a delicious cod fish stew (see photo, I've already taken a bite out of it 😋) and a variety of fish. The service was extremely pleasant. They gave us plenty of space. No pressure. Afterwards, we did a liqueur tasting. Very tasty. We got to sip on the flavors we could choose ourselves. Again, there was no pressure to buy anything, but the owner was especially enthusiastic about his homemade products. Wonderful!!

This review is for all tourists who vacation here. If you are willing to spend a little more money than usual, please go to this place. There were three of us there and we made a reservation. The extremely friendly waiters showed us to our table and we ordered our drinks. I have to say it was by far one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. On top of that, every dish comes with a portion of fries and three different salads at no extra charge. That shows the quality and the appreciation they give to their customers. You can also order four more things as you like WITHOUT an extra charge. The tiramisu was the best I have ever eaten... and two of the friendliest waiters we have ever experienced. Anyone who is willing to spend a little more on food should come here. It's worth it and you don't run the risk of being ripped off by being charged extra for the bread.

It was quite hard to find something vegan to eat in Hindeloopen, so I think it might be good to know that even in this fish restaurant, they had something. The menu says that there are changing vegetarian options and that there is vegetarian Farfalle Pasta with Capers. I asked the waiter and he was quite helpful and told me it was fully vegan. I was a bit scared it was going to be only Capers and Oil, but there were mushrooms, Tomatoes, Wakame, Onion and Capers and it was really good!

S. Had a cup of coffee in the afternoon and the service was so friendly and the menu looked good that we made a reservation for the evening. The food was delicious, nice flavors, portions just enough and again friendly staff. And they succeeded for the coffee with your dessert. It came as we asked at the same time. Many restaurants can take an example from this.

We enjoyed the fish platter for two outside on the terrace. The fish (3 different types) was cooked to perfection and the shellfish were also really good. There were various side dishes (homemade fries and salads), which were also very tasty and which you could have ordered if there was still room in your stomach. The service was very attentive and friendly, but never intrusive. We will definitely come back - just to taste the various liqueurs. In short: Not exactly cheap, but definitely worth the price!
