We had a lovely evening; the service and food were first-class, and the autumn weather made for a warm and welcoming experience.

We had a delicious meal yesterday. We had the Sudersee fish platter, and everything was delicious. The salmon was especially perfect; I ate it first. It would have been even better if the platter had been placed on a hot plate.

We had a really delicious lunch, fish of the day (fried sardines) and mussels, delicious and cozy!

This was our first time here. Everything was perfect: the ambiance, the excellent food, and, of course, the super friendly, unobtrusive staff. We'd love to come back!

Extremely welcoming team! As a party of 5 (4 adults, a 1,5 yo and a dog) we were warmly welcomed! We got a nice and quite table; the dog got some water and even a treat (after asking). Our daughter was free to walk around and explore the restaurant. On top: the food was amazing and so was the service. Tot ziens!

We had lunch here; it has a nice atmosphere. We had to wait a bit before being helped. That wasn't a problem; the staff is friendly. The goat cheese salad and the garlic prawns were delicious. There's also a liqueur brewery. You can visit it. The owner, a 3rd generation, told us all about the brewery's origins and explained the liqueurs. We even got to try a few sips, which was so much fun. We bought a bottle of VoddeWijfje, a fruit liqueur. The story goes that a "voddewijf" (a woman who chewed the fruit and spat it out, hahaha). So if you're in Hindelopen, go check it out.

Delicious mussels and liqueurs. We ate the mussels here yesterday and they were delicious! A real moment of zen. The Frisian Tripel is also highly recommended. To finish off, we bought three liqueurs :)

Hindeloopen is a wonderful town, and Restaurant Suderzee is an absolute asset. Highly recommended, especially if you're a big fish lover. We had a delicious meal there. A huge compliment to the friendly and very helpful staff. If we return to Hindeloopen, we'll definitely eat there again.

The restaurant is located in a truly beautiful setting, a small canal. The fries are incredibly delicious. Our recommendation is the fish from the daily special, which was fried rather than baked. For €17.50, you get a generous portion that's truly delicious. The duck was tasty but small. The salads were incredibly good! The service was also really friendly, accommodating, and uncomplicated.

We had a delicious cod fish stew (see photo, I've already taken a bite out of it 😋) and a variety of fish. The service was extremely pleasant. They gave us plenty of space. No pressure. Afterwards, we did a liqueur tasting. Very tasty. We got to sip on the flavors we could choose ourselves. Again, there was no pressure to buy anything, but the owner was especially enthusiastic about his homemade products. Wonderful!!

Very nice restaurant with great service and very tasty food

This review is for all tourists who vacation here. If you are willing to spend a little more money than usual, please go to this place. There were three of us there and we made a reservation. The extremely friendly waiters showed us to our table and we ordered our drinks. I have to say it was by far one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. On top of that, every dish comes with a portion of fries and three different salads at no extra charge. That shows the quality and the appreciation they give to their customers. You can also order four more things as you like WITHOUT an extra charge. The tiramisu was the best I have ever eaten... and two of the friendliest waiters we have ever experienced. Anyone who is willing to spend a little more on food should come here. It's worth it and you don't run the risk of being ripped off by being charged extra for the bread.

Had a delicious lunch for a good price. Delicious food and generous portions.

It was quite hard to find something vegan to eat in Hindeloopen, so I think it might be good to know that even in this fish restaurant, they had something. The menu says that there are changing vegetarian options and that there is vegetarian Farfalle Pasta with Capers. I asked the waiter and he was quite helpful and told me it was fully vegan. I was a bit scared it was going to be only Capers and Oil, but there were mushrooms, Tomatoes, Wakame, Onion and Capers and it was really good!

S. Had a cup of coffee in the afternoon and the service was so friendly and the menu looked good that we made a reservation for the evening. The food was delicious, nice flavors, portions just enough and again friendly staff. And they succeeded for the coffee with your dessert. It came as we asked at the same time. Many restaurants can take an example from this.

We enjoyed the fish platter for two outside on the terrace. The fish (3 different types) was cooked to perfection and the shellfish were also really good. There were various side dishes (homemade fries and salads), which were also very tasty and which you could have ordered if there was still room in your stomach. The service was very attentive and friendly, but never intrusive. We will definitely come back - just to taste the various liqueurs. In short: Not exactly cheap, but definitely worth the price!

This cozy restaurant is highly recommended! No standard menu, but at the same time plenty of choice for everyone. The avocado with shrimp and anchovies is really great, and the same goes for the fish dishes. My wife eats gluten-free and this was taken into account perfectly. And you can also buy the liqueurs made here for home use. We will definitely come back here!

The food was really very good. From the fish to mussels and steak, everything was first class. The supplements can be reordered free of charge. We sat near the open fireplace and were able to enjoy the ambience.

We ate a delicious trio of fish from the fish market, perfectly prepared and with sufficient and delicious garnishes. Very friendly service and ended with a delicious Frisian dessert. Absolutely recommended.

Had a great meal at this beautiful restaurant in picturesque Hindeloopen. At the end of the dinner, the owner took us to his liqueur brewery room where he let us all taste delicious home-brewed liqueurs! Had a great meal and a wonderful evening, highly recommended!

Very unfriendly and unwelcoming reception. Arrived at 1730 for drinks and snacks. There were at least 6 tables available and we sat at a table that had only been reserved at 630. We were sent away. Reason "If they come half an hour earlier then we will have to send you away". Not asking "is that a problem for you" or "maybe you can sit inside for a while" was simply not possible.

Had a great evening, the fish platter is highly recommended. At the end of the evening we tasted delicious liqueurs in the brewery!

Nice restaurant with good menu and tasty food. Pleasant service

The nicest thing was that our dog, a sweet boxer, was received with all the respect and had a bowl of water before we were properly seated. There was enough space between the tables where she could lie quietly. We ate salmon and gratinated cod, among other things. The salmon was great. There could have been a little more cod, the sauce was top notch! The coleslaw is fantastic and the other side dishes are also good, including a nice Sancerre. The Leeuwarden whiskey is beautiful and soft. The service was nice, the people cheerful. A beautiful terrace on the side. A bit dark there, but all in all we had a very nice evening.

If you like fish, this is the place for you. We also went to Hindeloopen by bike as part of our boat tour through Friesland. A very nice place and worth a visit. The restaurant has a large selection of fish dishes. I had a mixed plate with 3 different types of fish from the daily catch of local fishermen. My wife had a huge clod. The side dishes were also very tasty. Our special thanks go to the young waiter who gave us wonderful advice and service. A clear recommendation to visit this restaurant!!!

We were there again yesterday. We do that once a year. The food was good as always. Because we always eat the same food. Can we say that the food always tastes just as good. The service is always top. A nice local. We'll be back next year

Discovered this restaurant by chance during a visit. We had originally made a reservation at 'De 3 Harinkjes', but they did not respond at all after making the reservation, so we went here. And fortunately because this was another great discovery! Upon entering you are immediately greeted by the home-made liqueurs. And what a choice! You can also take a liqueur tasting with 4 liqueurs that you can tap yourself. Very nice! The kettles in which the liqueurs are made are also in the restaurant, and if you want a bottle for home, that is also possible in their souvenir shop! I say, good job! Beforehand we had a loaf of bread with olive oil. We drank a verdejo and a pino grigio. You were also given a small glass of water. As it should be. My wife and I both took the fish variation as a main course. These are 3 types of fish and the selection varies depending on the catch of the day. For us this was mackerel, catfish and sea bass. This also includes 4-5 mussels per person. The dish is served with fries, tasty thick fries, mayonnaise, red cabbage salad, white cabbage salad and an extra regular salad. Everything tasted delicious and prepared perfectly! For dessert we both had the sugar loaf pudding, because let's face it: 'when in Fryslan...' It included a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream, a great toffee/caramel sauce and whipped cream with chocolate flakes. Also great! We drank a nice cup of coffee with it. The service was very friendly, cooperative and good. We also sat in the sun and out of the wind on the beautiful terrace on the side of the building.

We ate excellently, the fish fillet was a dream, the steak was spot on. The fries are perfectly non-greasy, the salad is refreshing and has a delicious, unusual dressing. The appetizer of prawns in chili/garlic oil was very tasty and at the end a small sample of liqueur. We would love to come back to enjoy the fresh and delicious food. A small suggestion for improvement; Fish cutlery would complete the whole menu!

The entire meal was simply delicious. Starting with the really fine tuna tartare with wasabi strips and wasabi mayonnaise, with a sophisticated dressing and black sesame. The steak was perfect. Juicy, delicious with a wonderful roast sauce. In addition, the finest home-made fries and two delicious raw vegetable salads as well as another perfectly put together green salad. You don't want to be full! Strongly recommended. The best restaurant in the village. 100 percent
