We made a mistake with the reservation for my partners birthday - unfortunately went to the wrong location… we are humans it can happen… what is unacceptable though is the restaurant calling us 5 times, texting and leaving us voicemail, blaming us for losing a table, while we are trying to celebrate a birthday… as an outcome I can only guarantee that I will not step foot in this location no matter how good the food might be… learn to communicate :)

We went to the restaurant this evening without a reservation. All the tables were taken, but we still managed to get room inside for two people. The food is superb. The service was exceptional. It's a shame we're leaving Amsterdam tomorrow; otherwise, we would have loved to go back. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Authentic Italian restaurant. We had to wait a long time for the rest of our group but despite the rest of the restaurant getting bread we didn't get anything, so we asked for it ourselves. Otherwise great food and ok service.

Best tartufo pasta we've tried in our lives so far, amazing! It's a pity we didn't take a picture, but the taste is what matters, and it was out of this world! Authentic Italian restaurant, past perfectly cooked! They know what they are doing! We will come back for more pasta tartufo!

Great food, very nice atmosphere and top service!!

The staff is charming and cheerful, the food is delicious, the location is good. The less star is due to the poor selection of wines and the crowdedness, for lack of a better term, the tables are so small that they barely fit 2 plates and 2 glasses, and the passage between the tables is only about 30 cm. The staff improve the impression!

I ordered via Uber Eats on Sunday evening. The food arrived on time, but when we opened the bags, which were closed with staples, it turned out that we were missing some pasta. Immediately called the restaurant, where someone answered who only said “hello”. After I had greeted him several times and asked if this was PepeNero, the man said angrily, "I can't hear you well and it's not our fault." Eventually I was understood and I indicated that a pasta dish had been forgotten. I was angrily told that the delivery person had done it, so that you would not forget anything. As I said, there were staples in the bags, so I also indicated that that seemed strongly to me. I was then told that I should report it to UberEats, because you would not do anything with it. I called on speakerphone with my friend, who was going to join me for dinner, who was also surprised by the unfriendly tone of the conversation. As a result, I still had to order food somewhere else and pick it up myself, which meant that the pasta we did receive was now cold. We ordered the bread with tapenade, but both I and my friend didn't think it smelled good and, after tasting it, decided to throw it away. All in all, a very unpleasant experience and certainly not the service you would expect from a restaurant with such a high score and high price. The pasta from the corner restaurant was better, with nice staff and hot.

Antipasti from the refrigerator. Cold, flat in taste, did not look fresh, very mediocre. Bread not fresh. Pasta with Parmesan and tomato sauce ditto. Way too much tomato sauce, which drowned the parmesan and lost all the flavor. Toilet with cleaning products and clearly in need of a paint job. Dirty grubby card. Incomprehensible that it is always so busy.

Arrived spontaneously on a Saturday night and got lucky with a table that was only booked later that night. It was nice that they would let us sit there and they were not rushing us throughout the night although we had a limited time slot. The staff was really friendly, helpful and all Italians which gave it a nice authentic atmosphere. The aperitivo to start with was great - an amazing Aperol Spritz and the alcohol free Gin Tonic was also nice. The food overall was absolutely amazing. We tried the burrata, the pinsa (bruschetta like bread), the spaghetti out of the parmesan wheel, ravioli and the octopus. Everything was super tasty and fresh, but if we had to select our winners it would be the spaghetti (the sauce was just incredible) and the octopus. If we want to complain on anything, it would be the bread that came prior to the dishes which seemed a bit hard but honestly, the food throughout the night was amazing! Thank you very much for the great night - we will definitely come back and would without any doubt recommend this place!

We started with antipasti boards for 2 people. Very tasty. Then we had spaghetti with flambéed Parmesan cheese. Obviously very special, but above all a theater show. In terms of taste, a little too much tomato and not enough cheese. We also had pulpo and tiramisu. A very nice restaurant!

Unfortunately, not the experience I had hoped for after reading all of the good reviews left behind! Firstly, the positive notes; The wine, delicious and reasonably priced. Staff were also kind and helpful. The food was an overall 2 stars, lamb chops were a little dry, but a great portion size, seafood pasta was a great portion size, ravioli, small portion but tasty filling, carbonara did not have a lot of depth of flavour. So the food overall was fine. The part which really reduced the overall experience is that we waited 1.5 hrs for our mains to arrive! The staff here seemed very rushed and busy which made for an atmosphere that was not relaxing either. And finally the prices here for food are incredibly expensive, something I find hard to justify when a pasta dish costs around €20 or more!

Very bad experience. Disappointing at best. I genuinely don't understand how it gets such a high review. Firstly it took 1,5 hrs to get our food once ordered. The bread we were served was hard and dried out. Since it was taking so long, we asked for a salad and they said 'yes of course', but we were served a plate of vegetable antipasti instead. When we asked for some vinegar for our bread, we were unpleasantly surprised when we were given chili oil instead. After about an hour of waiting, we asked them where our food was and the waitress said they were waiting to serve our pasta until we were done the "salad" even though there had been nothing but a small piece of arugula left on the plate for the last 20 min. While we continued to wait, the inside was noisy and hard to have a conversation. Every few minutes the background music was interrupted by ads for Albert Heijn (at the price of the food they can't just pay for Spotify premium?...) Once we got the food, it came out all at different times, with one of our guests getting his food 15 minutes later than everyone else. Plus, €25 for pasta that takes 1,5hrs is extortionate. Ultimately, maybe it would have tasted better if we didn't wait so long, but in the end it tasted rather unremarkable. On the upside, the wine was pretty decent, but we needed it. Will not be returning.

Delightful Italian restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam! The homemade pasta was exquisite, and the wood-fired pizza rivaled those in Italy. Cozy atmosphere with attentive service. I had the pleasure of dining at Risto Enoteca Pepenero last night, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary experience! The moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that set the tone for a fantastic evening. The food? Absolutely divine! I ordered the Spaghetti Al Parmigiano, and it was cooked to perfection - al dente, rich, and creamy. Each bite was a masterclass in flavor and texture. My companions raved about their dishes as well, but I couldn't help but sneak a taste (or two) of their meals. But the pièce de résistance was the Panna Cotta dessert. Creamy, smooth, and utterly indulgent, it melted in my mouth like a cloud. I've had Panna Cotta at many restaurants before, but this one was truly exceptional. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who knew their menu inside out. The wine list was impressive, with a great selection of Italian varietals to complement our meal. In short, Risto Enoteca Pepenero is a must-visit for any food lover. With its exceptional cuisine, cozy atmosphere, and outstanding service, it's a true gem in the culinary world. Had a great meal, started with a delicious limoncello cocktail. Followed by bruscetta and spaghetti prepared in flambéed parmesan cheese. Prepared at the table. And a delicious desert.

We had a very pleasant evening at Pepenero, the service was really good all the staff were excellent. The food was a wonderful experience. Thanks Marco for organising the special time and service for us.

Recommended by Italians who live in the area. Top atmosphere! Very friendly service, lobster and spaghetti to lick the plate but the octopus was an experience to remember, accompanied by a nice wine recommended by the house... all good compliments to the staff!

Restaurant is renovating !! We have spent 45 minutes driving here just to find a construction site - opening hours should be adjusted to „temporarily closed“. Really disappointing

This restaurant is highly recommended for delicious, authentic Italian food. Portions are generous and reasonably priced. The menu is extensive. The service is cordial and cheerful. We have eaten here four times since December and will definitely return when we are in Amsterdam again.

This is the real Italian kitchen/cuisine! Very tasteful and plentiful!

We zijn nog nooit zo gezellig afgezet. Heel aardige mensen en bediening maar echt vėél te duur. 4 gangen menu staat op de website voor 47.50. in het restaurant is het echter 62.50! Dat is absurd duur voor de kwaliteit. Eten krijgt een zes en een half van ons. De (prijs van de) wijnen waren in orde.

Een niet te missen Italiaans restaurant in Amsterdam. De kaart is heel gevarieerd met allemaal authentieke Italiaanse gerechten. Marco en zijn team zorgen voor een fantastische ervaring. Vergeet de deserts niet, scrolppino wordt vers aan de tafel gemaakt.

Onbegrijpelijk dat er zoveel positieve reacties zijn: de prijs kwaliteitsverhouding is totaal zoek. Redelijke antipasti, maar niks om over naar huis te schrijven, kleine porties en wel zeer aan de prijs. 36 euro voor een fles huiswijn is ook echt volledig buiten proportie. Absoluut niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Lovely (romantic) ambience with authentic Italian food. Appetisers like burrata and parmigiana were both delicious (served with complementary sourdough bread). Then we ordered the beef tenderloin, ravioli, and truffle pappardelle. We finished off with panna cotta (favourite dessert), cheesecake, and nougat ice cream. I loved every bit of it. The only "custom" thing I asked for was to get the cheesecake without caramel just to make it more subtle (and not too sweet). Complements to Marco and the attentive staff as well! Too bad I did not take pictures of everything but there are some good ones I managed to save. Would love to go back and try the cheese wheel pasta :)

Italie in Amsterdam. Top kwaliteit en super aardige bediening. Alleen een alcohol vrije prosecco op de kaart erbij zou leuk zijn. Alleen alcoholvrij bier beschikbaar.

Ik vond de pappardelle en de filetto met truffel heerlijk.

Vrij prijzige Italiaan. Dubbele antipasti (veel maar vlak qua smaak), een fijne ravioli en een tagliata di manzo (prima vlees dat dreef in de crema di balsamico) als hoofd, twee flessen goede wijn met een zeer koude semi-freddo (Torroncino) en een sgroppino maakte 85 euro pp. Bediening is voorbeeldig, nieuwe glazen bij zwaardere wijn, allemaal keurig. Door hoge prijs niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Heerlijk gegeten met mijn familie voor mijn verjaardag! Geweldige wijnen en heerlijke pasta. Vooral de antipasti gemixt is leuk om te delen. Echt een aanrader voor een speciale avond met goede en vriendelijke bediening!!!
