Small-scale, very friendly, and fantastic food and wines. Very knowledgeable and truly delicious Italian.

I ordered the Calabrese pizza and unfortunately, it was disappointing. Positive: • Delivery arrived exactly on time. • The burratini was fresh and neatly packaged individually. • The 'nduja was deliciously spicy, just as it should be. • The friarielli was well-seasoned (though quite greasy). Negative: • This was honestly the greasiest pizza I've ever received. The bottom of the box was completely soaked with grease and even left stains on the table. • Due to the amount of grease, the pizza itself was extremely soft, soggy, and barely edible. • The photo (see reference) clearly shows how the oil seeps from the bottom and soaks the entire box. That really shouldn't happen with a Calabrese. It's a shame, because the flavors themselves were good, but due to the quality of the crust, I can only give it 2/5 stars.

Wandering through Schagen, we stumbled upon Chiara's. It was actually fully booked, but because we arrived early and had said we'd stay for a bite, a table was made available. Next time, we'll definitely make a reservation because it was fantastic! The food was delicious, not overly large portions, but very tasty and definitely more than enough. The staff were incredibly friendly and the atmosphere beautiful. Well worth a visit. We'll definitely be back.

Made a reservation on Monday through their website for this coming Saturday. Haven't heard anything all week. So it must be fine. On Saturday afternoon at 2:15 PM, I received a message saying it was full. We were supposed to eat there at 7:00 PM. It's just not right to let someone go like that, just let them know it's cancelled. I called them to ask why. They didn't get much of a response. They still had a small table by the door. Did we want that? I said I'd get back to them. Not even half an hour later, they called back and said I'd already made up my mind. Sorry, but that's no way to treat your customers. I'll never go back there again.

If the kitchen isn't up to par, the over-the-top wine service, for example, is inappropriate. We waited over 45 minutes for the main courses, and after asking three times, one of the three desserts was served 20 minutes late. The price-quality ratio isn't quite right. The appetizer platter for over 25 euros is not good. No second try.

The service and atmosphere today, in particular, were not up to par for what you'd expect given the price and (attempted) quality. The restaurant wants to present itself in a certain way... but that doesn't seem to apply to every guest or table. Today, there was apparently a VIP table that was getting all the attention, resulting in a lack of attention for others. Several tables for two were placed too close together. The waitstaff forgot to bring drinks or prioritized the VIP table... unfortunately, the restaurant didn't give us the evening we expected.

We enjoyed the chef's delicious dishes, accompanied by delicious wines.

On August 30, 2025, we celebrated our wedding at Chiara's, and what an amazing experience it was! Everything exceeded our expectations: the delicious food, the wonderful service, and especially the creative ideas of Angelo, the owner, to make our day even more special. We are incredibly grateful that he was able to make time for us, as Chiara is booked almost every day. Thanks to him and his team, we had an unforgettable day. It was truly fantastic! 💍🥂

In June, we went away for a weekend for our wedding anniversary and made a reservation at this restaurant. What a great choice! The service was fantastic, and the food was delicious. The lady who helped us said, "Maybe see you soon..." We already mentioned we're not from the area. But we were back in the area and had another delicious meal yesterday, and the service was perfect as well. Highly recommended!

The best Italian restaurant in a long time. We were in Schagen for four days and discovered this restaurant by chance. Even though it was full on a Saturday night, we still got a seat at the counter. The food was perfect, everything was freshly prepared, and I even got a peek into the kitchen. The owners and staff are all so friendly and attentive; you can tell they put their heart and soul into their work. Thank you so much 🤗

We were guests at the Italian restaurant Chiara. We got a seat without a reservation and quickly realized we were in a more upscale restaurant. The food was delicious, the portions were small, and the starter, "bread," suggested by the waiter, cost a good €17. (However, it included mortadella, olives, and two pestos.) Pizzas are only available twice a week (although they were picking up pizzas that day 🤷).

We stumbled upon this place by chance, and it turned out wonderfully. We received a very warm welcome. We quickly received a delicious glass of wine and a platter of treats. For a moment, we thought we'd stumbled upon a Michelin-starred restaurant. We ordered the three-course menu twice, which was served with care; we had a wonderful meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed, with pleasant Italian music playing in the background. Everything is reasonably priced. (The wines were a bit pricey, but they were truly delicious). A refined Italian restaurant where you'll find quality and flavor. We had three first courses, all excellent, the white soup made with seasonal vegetables was delicious, and the bruschetta. The staff was kind and welcoming. The prices are moderately high but in line with the quality of the dishes.

We wanted to make a reservation on an evening when there was an event. Due to a cancellation, we were still able to eat with the four of us. What an enormous taste experience this was. We haven't eaten out this well in a long time. We immediately made a reservation for our last evening of our holiday. You couldn't wish for anything better!!!

A small, charming restaurant where service comes first. Wonderfully surprised by the chef with 4 courses where each course was a surprise in itself. Excellent service and an owner who talks passionately about the dishes and wines. Highly recommended for everyone! A big plus is that they cook a lot of organic food and also from their own garden. Delicious food, me and my partner have eaten here twice now, it is truly an Italian experience, not just any Italian. I recommend the ravioli with truffle sauce to everyone, it is fantastic! staff is always friendly and helpful! In short, highly recommended.

Just ordered a pasta ravioli. Delicious pasta, only disappointed about the portion. The container was not even half full and that for €19.75.. very unfortunate.

Tonight we went for dinner with 4 people. And later the chef surprised us with 4 courses. And I can simply say that the food was delicious, and a good balance in taste between the dishes, which are well presented with the presentation of knowledge of the preparation and origin of the dishes and drinks. Definitely come back sometime.

A truly fantastic place for an evening full of delicious Italian food. The dishes are clearly prepared with care and contain fresh, tasty ingredients that really stand out. My friend enjoyed a fantastic tomahawk steak. What makes the experience extra special is the owner, who is incredibly hospitable and pleasant. He makes you feel welcome immediately and really takes the time to have a chat. Together with the warm atmosphere and friendly staff, this makes Chiara an absolute must for anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine. We will definitely come back!

An excellent Italian restaurant, the service was perfect. Starter platter and pumpkin soup very good. I would like to highlight an “inexpensive” and seemingly simple dish, Pasta Calabrese, it was simply incredibly good and I often eat Italian food, 6 out of 5 stars for this. This restaurant is permanently marked for return.

What a top restaurant, Italian cuisine, what an Italian experience should be like, no standard pizza but quality Italian food and Italian wines with service that makes the evening an experience, a real night out.

Beautiful small-scale restaurant with delicious dishes and fantastic wines. Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere. For even more Italian atmosphere, the background music (now just Top 40 music) could be Italian, but that's a small matter. We will definitely come back!

The restaurant is a bit further from the church square in Schagen! And it really is a beautiful place with delicious food! The service is great! People know what kind of food is served, fresh dishes every day and the food is divine! If you have a stomach reduction, don't worry! We didn't finish our food either (that was our fault! The food was really delicious!!) but we can take it home! The hostess is perfectly super nice and friendly and very skilled in her profession. Eating here is like stepping into an Italian home atmosphere! Food is delicious as is the wine! Come by and try it because you won't regret it! Thank you for the delicious food and hospitality, we enjoyed it immensely. We had a delicious bread board, delicious tomato soup from San Marisano tomato, the Tomahawk and then a scroppino and tiramisu! And absolutely everything was delicious!

Often asked if “we had finished yet”, while we were still expecting the starter. The seating was cramped, so we often had to make room for a cart on which meat was cut. The wine very expensive. Meat was burnt and full of sinews and fat. Furthermore, there is a good factor that makes me dare to try it again in a while.

The pizza dough was gone. The burrata was gone; That was only told later when serving. Both starter and main course. The main course was served without any comment about the lack of burrata. When asked, mozerella was given loose. Quality was below my expectations. Ribeye; Ordered 3 times. One was very good ; other two much less. The Parmesan cheese not fresh. I thought the breadboard was a mockery. Stale bread ; pieces of black, old crackers and breadsticks in a bag. Wine was good. The boss's wife is very friendly and made up for what her younger male colleague lacked. I thought prices were on the high side considering what was missing.

The host of our B&B referred us to Ristorante Chiara. What a wonderful experience that turned out to be. We had a rare delicious meal, a real, pure taste sensation!! In an attractive restaurant, with the enthusiastic passion of Angelo, Massimo and the others in the small, cozy and customer-friendly team, this is an absolute must. A quick trip to Italy; That is possible in Schagen 😍

Very tasty food, but pricey. We were surprised with the wine. And that made the bill a bit high in the end. The "most expensive" wines were pulled from the cupboard. Definitely tasty, but communicating in advance about the price is useful in this case. With four people, the bill for the wine (4xproceco, bottle of white and 3xred) was higher than the 3-course dinner. But so to speak, tasty food and a nice glass of wine. Price a bit high.

Food was fine in taste. However, there were many bones in the fish (+8 pieces). The explanation given for this was special. It was indicated that the fish is normally filleted by themselves, but that they have recently started purchasing the fish filleted. For “dessert” the bill was €100 too much. The reaction to it was also special. Family and friends have experienced this before at this restaurant. Our tip: check your bill carefully before paying.

Fortunately, not an average Italian restaurant, with only pizza or pasta. Beautifully balanced dishes with an extremely wide choice outside the menu as well as very good wine advice. Great atmosphere and the intimate setting gives a kind of living room feeling. The chef's 4-course menu is truly fantastic and every course promises a delicious surprise. Very attentive and nice service.

We waren eindelijk weer eens blij verrast. Gastvrije ontvangst. Eten uitmuntend van smaak en mooi geserveerd. De ravioli met eekhoorntjesbrood en truffel was echt heerlijk. Evenals de rest.

Er is eigenlijk ruimte voor twee persoonstafels. keuze is dan bij de deur ( op een terrasstoel), aan de bar of krap tussen de overige tafels. In combinatie met té harde muziek en luidrustige medebezoekers is dit niet echt prettig tafelen. We zagen dat twee andere mensen klaagden en aan een andere tafel werden gezet. Ik heb de volgende dag gemaild en mijn teleurstelling geuit en gevraagd waarom ze bij de reservering niet hadden gemeld dat ze eigenlijk vol zaten en ons op een houten stoel bij de ingang gingen plaatsen. De reactie was dat het druk was ( er waren uiteindelijk twee tafels voor 6 personen nog vrij. ze hebben helaas weinig op met hun gasten en hoewel het eten best wel goed was, is het voor ons een reden om hier nooit meer te eten

Tonight I had dinner with my (demented) wife on the advice of Ilse, who is playing petangue with me at this incredibly hospitable Italian. The food is packed with flavors that only enhance each other Given my situation, the kitchen responded very nicely by delivering the three-course menu faster than usual. This restaurant certainly invites you if you want to eat out in an attractive and tasty way.

What a beautiful culinary journey we have made here! We chose a 3-course surprise menu and it was great! We started with a beautiful plank of delicious ant-pasti, followed by grilled ribeye on a bed of arugula, accompanied by the tastiest rosemary potatoes ever😋 Finally, a traditionally made pear pie. Recommended!

Had a wonderful experience at Chiara restaurant. Everything is correct. Upon arrival we received a very hospitable welcome and were taken into the world of Italian cuisine during the evening. Truly enjoyed every bite! Very hospitable service where the passion for the food and the experience is clearly evident. Tip: be surprised by the chef's choices. Everything fits together very well. Oh yes, and very tasty wines! We will definitely come back.

Gekozen voor een 4 gangenmenu van de chef dus het was een verrassing wat je kreeg: je kon wel een voorkeur doorgeven nl.: vlees of vis. Alles was vers gemaakt en smaakte super, de bediening was prima en je kreeg bij iedere gang een duidelijke uitleg van wat je te eten kreeg. Mijn complimenten aan de chefkok Angelino Romano. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

We came from Enschede for a weekend trip to Schagen and asked where you could eat delicious Italian food. Then this restaurant was recommended to us. We were really lucky at 8 p.m. there was a spot available for 2 people. Well I can tell you, I have never eaten such delicious Italian food. Really amazing. Small but super cozy. Everything fresh. Nice service, very gallant. Everything as it should be. Esther and Saskia will definitely come here more often

We celebrated our anniversary here. The food is delicious, and we were pampered by the charming and hospitable service. The cook was regularly at the table for explanations and a nice chat. Now for the second time, what a taste experience! Everything super fresh, the cooking here is at a high level! Great night out with people who understand the hospitality industry.

We opted for the chef's three-course menu. Having indicated in advance that one of us is vegetarian, the starter comes with half a plate of meat. We reported this to the waiter, to which his response was, but half of them are vegetarian anyway. The melon was far from ripe. The main course was fish with half a plate full of olives. The Homemade cake was really tasty. There are still many areas for improvement, starting with the operation.

Had a fantastic evening out. As soon as you step inside, you immediately feel welcome and in one evening you are magically taken to Italy by the delicious new flavors of the dish, the atmosphere and friendliness. I found it particularly beautiful to see how the entire team acts directly from the heart with passion, quality and respect for food, but also with the aim of making others happy. Not exaggerated but "real"! Thank you.

We had dinner at this restaurant at Christmas. A 7 course dinner for 100 euros per person. High expectations, unfortunately big disappointment. Upon arrival, a glass of cava was offered which we thought was included in the price. So we took for granted that there was only one sip in the glass. Later it turned out that we had to pay 6.50 per glass. Then dinner, we started with a carpaccio that we had to scrape off the plate, so cold! Then a simple pumpkin soup, then an eggplant lasagna, which was cold and undercooked. Then a slice of white bread with eggplant again. The bun was soggy and the plates were dirty. I couldn't get it away anymore. Called the owner and spoke to him about it and mentioned things, but unfortunately the answer was, tastes differ! And he laughed too. We were not taken seriously and it was therefore not resolved. We were basically ignored after the discussion. The food didn't get any better, just worse, but I'll spare you that. Remember when you order wine, they recommend the most beautiful and tastiest from Italy and these are so special that they only go by the bottle. Ask for the price!! Otherwise an unpleasant surprise. We had to pay 260 euros. It wasn't worth half of it...again, big disappointment.

Met smaak en vreugde gegeten, met 16 personen. Unaniem vol lof. Goede gastgevers en een gezellige en ontspannen sfeer. Voor herhaling vatbaar.

We werden met enthousiasme ontvangen, en hebben lekker gegeten. Ook lekkere drankjes. De aankleding/ambiance is top. De porties groot. Wat beter had gekund, was dat ik bij mijn reservering een allergie van 1 persoon had doorgegeven, met de vraag om een 4 gangen menu, rekening houdend met de allergie. Bij aankomst bleek dit niet opgepakt te zijn, en ook niet mogelijk. Ik ben gewend dat het bij een allergie voor de chef prettig is als je een verrassingsmenu kiest, omdat de chef dan alle creatieve vrijheid heeft om iets te serveren binnen de mogelijkheden. Hier bleek dat niet zo te werken, en vond de chef dat te ingewikkeld. Degene moest zelf maar iets van de kaart kiezen, wat wel kon. Het aanpassen van een gerecht (bijv. weglaten van tomaatjes) was zelfs niet mogelijk. Voor de rest van de tafel was het ook niet meer mogelijk een chef's menu te nemen, want dat kon alleen per tafel. Op deze punten had ik echt meer verwacht, en dat drukte wel op de ervaring. Desondanks was het een geslaagde avond, en sluit ik niet uit dat ik er nog eens ga eten. Het brood/olijven plankje vooraf was echt heerlijk.

Zeer gezellige avond gehad. Het eten was heerlijk, de medewerkers erg vriendelijk en er hing een leuke sfeer. Absoluut een aanrader dit restaurant.
