San Giorgio has been around for a long time. We started eating there when we moved to Amersfoort sixteen years ago. And it never disappoints. Authentic Italian food without the fuss, that's what you get. The competition in Amersfoort is fierce. But San Giorgio is more than worth it.

Long ago, this was the first restaurant I dined at in Amersfoort, and it hasn't lost any of its glory. Host Luciano is the inspiring heart of the (open) kitchen, and the atmospheric interior of this Italian inn makes you feel like you're on a pilgrimage in your own city. The menu is refined, unique, and all dishes (including the pasta) are freshly prepared. A place where you feel at home and a beloved guest at the same time.

I went in November 2024 and everything was perfect. The atmosphere was cozy, the service was good, and the food was delicious. I went again in April and it was very disappointing. The service was poor, the food wasn't what I ordered, and the atmosphere wasn't great either. Even after this experience, I gave San Giorgio another chance and went back recently. Everything was great again. I had a different server, so my order was correct this time. The food was delicious, exactly as I remember from 2024. The atmosphere was also fantastic. I'll be back soon; I'm already looking forward to it! Highly recommended!

What a fantastic place!!! The food was so delicious. The owner was incredibly friendly. He suggested a starter with a bit of everything. Fantastic! For the main course, we had filetto with green pepper sauce. So tender!!! Truly fantastic. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended! Excellent wines too! (Not on the menu)

We had the fish menu. Surprisingly delicious. An enthusiastic chef who clearly enjoyed his work. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am shocked with the negative reviews about San Giorgio. My family and I (2 grown-ups and 2 children) have been there yesterday and we didn’t regret a thing. We went in about 14:30 and were the only costumers. The owner and the chef were very friendly with us and with my children. They were always coming to us for a chat and trying to tell something about the restaurant, their food and origin. Sometimes between cooking they would come to us and proudly show the fresh meat they were using. Even with our language barrier, we felt welcoming and they were lovely with my two picky eaters. Price is sure not the cheapest but we were very pleased to eat there. Dessert was huge and gelato was delicious!

Lovely attentive, polite staff. Pizza arrived quickly, fresh ingredients and my aubergine was melt in the mouth.

The caprese was mediocre and poorly presented, with three bite-sized chunks of mozzarella and tomato served without any frills. The other dishes were of reasonable quality, but the price was out of line and overpriced. Not recommended.

Quite possibly the worst italians I’ve ever had, shame as it’s a nice location and the staff seem ok, albeit a bit slow with service, an hour to get out main!

S. Giorgio is always an experience to recommend. The venue is beautifully nestled in the historic city center and was originally an ancient cloister. The menu is extraordinary: Italian cuisine with exclusively Italian - always rigorously fresh! - ingredients. A delight for the palate. And if you need something truly special, talk to Luciano and ask what's available NOT being on the menu. As an Italian, I've sometimes eaten better here than in restaurants in Italy. Luciano and his staff are kind, helpful and friendly. I have no hesitation — with full respect for the other restaurants — in calling San Giorgio the best Italian restaurant not only in the city of Amersfoort, but in the entire Utrecht region.

Last night, my wife and I had pizza at this Italian restaurant in Amersfoort. I've had a lot of pizza, but this one was really good and had a perfect base. My compliments.

Authentic Italian restaurant, very well-made spaghetti, and you get a lot. The pizzas were also delicious, as was the lasagna.

We were skeptical about this restaurant given its rate. However, the food was really good and my favorite was the Swordfish. Though one might say the portions are small, but it’s worth every penny.

Loved the Carbonara and grilled Sword fish. And the Tiramisu is so yummy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Cozy backyard and vibe.

Had a wonderful meal yesterday evening. What hospitality and a great atmosphere. We ate with 4 women and asked if they could make us something tasty. Really delicious antipasti as a starter. We wanted fish as a main course. Delicious sole with small shrimps and beautiful Italian vegetables, simply amazing, I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Of course, a delicious homemade tiramisu with a scoop of pistachio ice cream for dessert. Thank you for the unforgettable evening.

Had a nice pasta. We were lucky and sat on the terrace. Nice view of the water. And a super friendly waiter from Salerno (so I could practice my Italian a bit. Very good house wine by the way (from Sardinia)

De medewerkers zijn, en sfeer is, authentiek Italiaans! Open keuken waar de tafels omheen zijn gezet. Dit vind ik altijd fantastisch. Iedereen kan met de kok meekijken. Eten viel wel tegen. Er zat weinig smaak aan de gerechten. Carpaccio was net niet bevroren, te koud. Lasagne zat weinig smaak aan. Pasta met worst en kaas was lekker, maar niet bijzonder.

Prima pizza gegeten van uitstekende kwaliteit. Goede wijn. Vlotte bediening. Goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Gezellige inrichting. Vriendelijke bediening, komt autentiek Italiaans over. Genoeg keuze op de kaart. Goede koffie, sterk. Alleen jammer dat er geen koffiemelk of koekje (of zoiets) bij werd gegeven. Mis die finishing touh...

Real authentic Italian, not the place you come for a portion of fries with your pizza, but real food! Good wine and good host!

An Italian as an Italian is meant to be. Authentic good food served with Italian flair. Many classic dishes made in the original and pure way. Portions are large, so unfortunately no room for a primi and secundi, unless you do a very hip SamSam. Not my thing, I prefer my own plate of food. The aperol also s spritz is molto bene. I don't think they make a better one anywhere in Amersfoort and the surrounding area. In short, don't walk past this as we did for years, but enter an authentic Italian experience!

One prick of an owner, very unfriendly and racist

Gewoonweg slecht, smakeloze lauwe troep, de lasagne had geen smaak, de pasta was te weinig gekookt en de snippers asperges was nauwelijks te zien. Zeer slechte ervaring!

Excellent experience at Ristorante San Giorgio! As a team of 15 electricians, we recently enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Ristorante San Giorgio. After a long day at work this was exactly what we needed: delicious food, excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere. The Italian dishes were authentic and prepared with care, and our wishes as a large group were taken into account. The service was professional and attentive, despite there being so many people. The drinks were also perfectly arranged. We do not understand the negative reviews we saw earlier at all. Our experience was great and definitely worth repeating. Congratulations to the San Giorgio team! As electricians we know how important quality and service are, and San Giorgio has it all right. Until next time!

On Saturday it was the 3rd restaurant we entered, the others had no room. We came spontaneously and without reservations, looking for pizza, not very hungry after high tea. It was nice that there was room, it was made! Pizza was just tasty, good price, not too much crust, which I like. It's always fun to see them being prepared! Nice help, pizza that came in the wrong way was quickly replaced. No problem. 1 but.... the orange juice for my daughter and me was €7.50 per, somewhat high, narrow glass with ice in it. Tasty but just bizarre. You also have 2 ice teas for €3.75 per bottle (normal price anyway).

Carpaccio vooraf viel erg teef . Veel te dik gesneden en nog net niet bevroren dus veel te koud! Hoofdgerecht was niet warm en de 4 soorten pasta echt niet lekker van smaak. Te dikke pasta of de inhoud was droog en smaakloos. Alleen de wijn en de kruidenboter was heerlijk. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar dus!

Delicious Italian food from real Italians. I don't understand why there are a number of bad reviews and why the stars are so low because I haven't had such delicious Italian food in a long time! It started with the delicious pizza bread with herb butter as a starter. As a main course, my father had a pizza and after tasting a piece, I can say that it has an extremely tasty base and the tomato sauce shows the quality of the products, truly Italian! My own tortellini with truffle was also so incredibly delicious, I had no words for it. The truffle flavor was just the right amount: not too overpowering but still present. My mother and I were so impressed that we secretly licked the sauce off the plate with our fingers. The staff was also super sweet and helpful and the food and drinks came very quickly. We had a wonderful evening and would come back to Amersfoort especially to eat here!

Era una cena de cumpleaños a principios de septiembre. El restaurante estaba vacío porque todo el servicio se trasladó a su terraza exterior. Allí estaba muy ocupado hasta alrededor de las 9 de la noche. Nuestra camarera parecía tener problemas con los holandeses e ingleses, pero nos costó mucho. El menú es amplio y cubre entrantes fríos y calientes, pasta, pizza y platos de carne y pescado. La comida estaba deliciosa y bien presentada. Definitivamente volvería a ir, a pesar de que están en el lado de precios.

Vinimos tarde para llevar y no podrían haber sido más serviciales. Añadimos artículos a los espaguetis ya que mi hija quería un pollo parm. Cortar la pizza para nosotros mientras llevábamos la comida de vuelta al hotel. Embalado espaguetis en dos cajas para que no se derramara. El personal es increíble y la comida era excelente.

Vol verwachting op een mooie avond op het terras. Helaas werd de verwachting niet waargemaakt. Veel te lang gewacht op het voorgerecht, waarbij de vissalade heel matig was. Hoofdgerecht pasta met truffelssaus, waar de truffels volgens ons vergeten waren. De Engels sprekende dame in de bediening zou het doorgeven, maar kwam er bij ons niet op terug. Gemiste kans. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding ver te zoeken. Was voor ons de laatste keer.

The service and chef were friendly, food was ok but the restaurant is really dated and gloomy, not what it used to be.

Simply BAD: the cheapest pizza from Aldi or Lidl tastes even better; was just a tasteless piece of sparsely covered cardboard. Also way too expensive. Since people in Italy are proud of their culture and food, I understand why this restaurant is abroad: just a joke;

This review is personal because I have been coming there for 15 years, I know the owner well and I really like "typical Italian" without pizza (of course that is also possible). The food is super fresh and prepared according to your wishes. For me it is always pleasant to eat/drink there.. In my opinion a recommendation.

Prima eten hoor maar als je dan kraanwater bestelt en de bediende zegt dat dat niet mag van de eigenaar zak je op de ladder. Ik heb eerder in een beoordeling dit gemeld. Helaas geen verbetering. Tja, en dan kom je met een groep van 8 mensen, genoeg verteerd dacht ik zo. Ik zal hier zeker niet meer op eigen initiatief heen gaan.

What a mistake that we went here. Price quality is hard to find, everything is really overpriced and absolutely not justified. Tasteless pizza, worthless/unfriendly service who also do not speak Dutch but poor English. And it all takes too long.

It took 3.5 hours to purchase a full menu. People came later and left before us. Waitresses are rarely visible and avoid eye contact! And waitresses who cannot speak Dutch, so a lady had to be brought in every time. Owner was walking around chatting instead of helping with the crowds.

If you are an Italy connoisseur and quite familiar with Italian cuisine, you will immediately notice that San Giorgio is far removed from this. The cuisine is not refined, tasteless and many ingredients come from a can. Price-quality is by no means in proportion. Not recommended!!!

The owner of the restaurant is a passionate Sicilian about food. With a group of 7 people, the owner offered to make 1 large plate of pasta for all of us. After indicating allergies, a sauce was made with veal medallion. The owner even wanted me to take a look in the kitchen because he realized that I am a fan of Italian food. Of course we ordered the tiramisu. Everything was well organized and a very friendly, passionate owner. In my opinion, the reviews about this man being unkind are due to a cultural difference.

Ate delicious lasagna and tiramisu and enjoyed the open kitchen with the Italian chefs. Friendly atmosphere.

Portion way too little and way too expensive. 10.50 euros for a very small piece of cake. The only thing that was big was the plate where the small piece was placed.

Hele vriendelijke bediening. Ik vermelde dat ik de combinatie kaas-tomaat niet verdroeg, en de schotel werd voor mij opnieuw gemaakt. Echt top !!!

Luciano is een fijne gastheer. Goede bediening en een leuke warme sfeer binnen. Buiten kun je mooi langs het water eten. Het restaurant heeft een rijke geschiedenis, ooit was het een klooster. Het is eten is heerlijk en velen zeggen duur maar dat valt reuze mee in vergelijking met andere restaurants.

Op advies van vrienden uit Amersfoort hier gegeten. En inderdaad, een zeer goed restaurant. We kozen voor het deelgerecht, Hierdoor kregen we 4 verschillende kleine gerechten. Allemaal erg lekker. Hier gaan we zeker terug komen, als we weer in Amersfoort zijn!

Goed maar duur Italiaans restaurant in het centrum van Amersfoort. Leuke Italiaanse sfeer. Ik bestelde een drankje vooraf. Een campari-jus…. In een klein glas geserveerd met 2 blokken ijs die weinig plek overlieten voor de verse sinaasappelsap en de scheut Campari. De kosten: 15 euro! Ook een glas huiswijn kostte 5,57 euro! Niet leuk meer er iets te gaan eten als je zo wordt afgezet met de drank Het dessert de tiramisu was lekker maar de dure drank gaf een nare nasmaak…

Een duurdere kaart maar super lekker zoals een Italiaan/se wilt eten

Great kitchen, all fresh and beautiful ingredients. We had dinner with the five of us and really enjoyed the italian atmosphere and food.

Te duur, te weinig voor 3 gangen verrassingsmenu. Mijn jongens zijn na het restaurantbezoek doorgegaan naar de Mac. Zijn normale eters. Zij hadden nog honger. Vis als voorgerecht, vis als hoofdgerecht ( 3 aardappelwedges en een stronkje groente erbij)en stukje Tira Misu na. Het was wel goed op smaak. En toen was het koffie apparaat ook nog stuk....Engelssprekende bediening, was niet hun moedertaal, geen probleem maar het is wel fijn als ze dan weten waar ze het over hebben. Nee, San Giorgio hoeft niet meer voor ons.

Excellent Sardinian restaurant. The chef is very nice and friendly and understanding, as is the owner. A little mastery of the Italian language will help you along the way and like all Italian chefs, his face clears up when you ask him to prepare specific Italian dishes. The carpaccio is incredibly good and fresh, the wines are of good quality and if you're nice to the chef and he has time, he will personally deliver your food and wait for your approval. Most Italian dishes can be ordered, even when they're not on the menu. Try to original spaghetti carbonara, for example. Definitely a place to visit if you're in Amersfoort and feel like Italian dining. If you have troubling clearing your order with the waiting staff, talk to the owner or the chef directly.

Goede sfeer, vooral buiten zitten is heerlijk. Wel prijzig voor wat je krijgt. Het hoofdgerecht wat ik had gekozen van de kaart kon niet besteld worden omdat het 'te veel moeite' was om te maken. Toen maar voor een lasagne gegaan, viel tegen helaas.

Goed eten, leuke sfeer. Bedoening wat rommelig.

Para ser justa me gustó bastante la comida y el restaurante es muy bonito y el dueño estuvo amable. Podría haber sido fantastico si no fuera por la poca educación de la camarera que estropeaba el ambiente y daba vergüenza, hablando a gritos con su jefe, como "godverdomme", "vaiffanculo" y otras barbaridades como decir delante de clientes holandeses, que ella odia Holanda y todo esto en presencia de su jefe que lo permite. Por último, pedí un tiramisú para llevar y me parece que 12 euros es un poco demasiado.

Een paar mooie traditionele gerechten op de kaart. De zeebaars had ik vanavond. En dan met eenvoudige pasta alioli erbij. En een glas fijne rosé. Gesmuld! En hoewel al een rond buikje kon ik de tiramisu niet weerstaan. Niks delen :) gewoon zelf helemaal opgegeten.
