A few weeks ago, on a summery Sunday afternoon, I sat comfortably in a corner of the terrace. I enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere, my company, and the view of the river. The service was excellent. I had a wonderful afternoon here.

The food was delicious, but what really stood out to us was the friendly service. All the staff exude a calmness that is very pleasant. Having a drink outside on the terrace first was great. With shared dining, they ask if you want all the dishes at once or one after the other. This way, the meal proceeds at a really nice pace that you can decide yourself—very relaxed! We will definitely be back.

We ate here last Wednesday and it was good. Fast service and tasty and original dishes.

The staff is quite young and naturally they are all lovely, but there is one in particular that my father (82) and I are fond of, and that is Daan. He has a pleasant flair, is a host through and through, and he has an eye for detail: at other places things never go right when I order my coffee or cappuccino with two sweeteners, but here at Rivero it worked out and Daan understood it like no other and also ordered my 2nd cup of coffee with two sweeteners. So Daan, well done! :) We would love to come back, warm regards also from my father, see you soon!

I had booked a table for lunch with my mother for her ninetieth birthday. As a nice gesture, the restaurant had a birthday card waiting for her. The terrace was quite busy on a warm day. As a result, the kitchen was under pressure, according to our waitress. I get that. But we had to wait well over seventy minutes for our food: a smoked salmon sandwich and the Rivero version of a club sandwich. That is indeed very long, but Rivero has, without a doubt, the best view while you wait: the ferry and gigantic ships on the Lek. The food itself was quite tasty, but we skipped dessert so as not to have to wait another hour. Rivero has a beautiful location, but honestly: life’s too short. Especially when you’re already ninety.

Top location, close to the Schoo Haven ferry. Lovely view of the Lek. Great seating, both in the shade and sun. Good menu. Excellent value for money. And above all, cheerful and friendly service.

It's a beautiful place, located on the banks of the Rhine River in the fantastic town of Schoonhoven. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are elegantly decorated, the staff are very attentive and friendly, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. You can sit and chat in the evening while watching the sunset and experience very romantic moments.

Great location. Good atmosphere. Good service, especially our head waitress. Even someone in service who still had a bit to learn / had less experience did her very best. The food was tasty; we all chose the lunch special. It was certainly enough for us.

Very pleasant atmosphere. The service is very friendly; it seems like nothing is too much trouble. In sunny weather, they asked if we wanted sunscreen, which was very thoughtful. Great value for money. Very clean. We will definitely come back.

There is nothing wrong with the place or the service in itself; it is fine for taking a break for coffee, hot chocolate, and cake during a sporty bike ride. But then you order the “very blue berry blondie” and you get a tiny slice of cake! Even at home, I wouldn't dare serve such a small piece… and then to charge 4.75 for it? Okay, it tasted fine. But so does the carrot cake, and that was a decent slice. So, a larger baking pan please, and make a bit more cake. We will come back to see the difference.

Restaurant Rivero is located right by the ferry from Schoonhoven to Gelkenes. Formerly Lekzicht. The restaurant looks okay, though not particularly special in terms of decor. The staff is friendly and attentive and makes you feel welcome. The menu is extensive, and you can choose from various options, including both “classics” and a wide selection of dishes to share. The starter, Cebo Iberico, is not cheap, but it is really delicious. Furthermore, we chose two dishes to share: Hybrid and Loaded nachos. Hybrid (veal cheek) is a small but very tasty dish. The bowl of nachos and spicy minced meat is large and very filling. We had no room left for dessert. All in all, we had a pleasant evening!

Great food. Ordered various appetizers. It would have been even better if the appetizers had been accompanied by some vegetables and potatoes (considering the price-quality ratio).

The restaurant was only partially full. Yet, we were seated at a small round table. We ordered several sharing menus (of excellent quality). When we asked if these could be served gradually, we were told they would be brought out as soon as they were ready...all at once. Two plates of food to eat and four dishes to accompany it...the feeling of "it's not busy, but we also want you to leave quickly" was very present. It took away the feeling of having a lovely evening out. Very unfortunate. The food is excellent.

We'd made a reservation well in advance, but upon arrival, there was no table available for us. We were offered a family table that hadn't been cleared yet, which was later cleared but not wiped down. We had to wait a long time for drinks (having to ask for the menu four times) and an hour and 20 minutes for our food. The food we wanted to order was already gone... a real shame, as we had high expectations for this restaurant. It was also very cold inside. It wasn't the Valentine's Day evening we had in mind...

Last Saturday, January 31st, we dined here with a party of 12 people. The main reason for choosing this restaurant was the diverse menus for vegetarians, and they were very satisfied with the quality of those menus. In short, highly recommended for vegetarians! The atmosphere in this restaurant was very good, and despite the busyness, service was excellent and on time by a team of young, enthusiastic, and skilled waitresses. Definitely deserves a compliment! In short, Rivero is highly recommended for body and mind!

The restaurant's menu is excellent, but they could still use some improvement. A nice response with the invitation to give more feedback...however, after two months, I don't remember exactly what we ate...so my tip for now is to respond more quickly. But we will definitely be back.

We ate here yesterday with friends and stayed a while longer, as it was DJ night on Friday! Friendly service and delicious food. We had a surprise menu with various small dishes. Everything was delicious, and it was fun to try and share all the dishes. It's also a little different, definitely not clichéd, with diverse flavors from different cuisines! A truly successful evening! We remarked to each other on the combination of good food and the feeling of a night out.

Restaurant Rivero is beautifully situated on the water, right by the ferry, where you can watch the boats sail by while dining—a truly atmospheric setting. We enjoyed a limited edition dish with tender venison, perfectly prepared and full of flavor. A true culinary surprise! The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. The only point for improvement were the fries—they unfortunately resembled leftovers. Perhaps a little training with Bram Ladage at the Foodhal Rotterdam would do wonders 😉. Other than that, nothing but praise: the location, the food, and the atmosphere make Rivero a very successful culinary experience, and we would definitely love to return!

The restaurant has a good atmosphere. It's nicely decorated and has a lovely waterfront setting. The food was good. Good portions (shared dining), but the service was very slow, and we had to ask for drinks ourselves. A real shame. Irish coffee and Spanish coffee come with sweetened whipped cream. It's also a shame for the price.

What a wonderful place! And the service was fantastic and attentive. The young lady who helped us today (and the chefs in the kitchen as well) was (were) very helpful in accommodating my allergies. Even though all the cushions had been brought inside due to a few showers, they spontaneously brought us some when we wanted to sit outside. In short, a lovely restaurant! (One suggestion: the small amount of orange juice in the large wine glass was really small for €4.50🌻)
