When in Haarlem - make sure to stop by Romeo’s for a sandwich. One of my favorite sandwiches in the Netherlands - make sure to try the Porchetta Speciale. Freshly baked focaccia, juicy pork perfectly paired with the pickled broccolini and sundried tomatoes.

The porchetta sandwich was probably the best I've ever had. Delicious fresh ciabatta. It's so delicious, even without anything on it. No sauce, of course, which is absolutely unnecessary. Don't come during lunchtime, because everyone in Haarlem will be there. The staff works incredibly hard, and orders are processed quickly. I would have preferred the porchetta to be a bit thicker. But that's just nitpicking. All in all, a delicious sandwich.

The sandwiches were INCREDIBLE! The place was packed and the staff members were super efficient. Lonely service and good vibes. Prices were also very reasonable. We took 3 sandwiches and a pizza, everything was absolutely delicious.

I come here often but always forget to write a review, probably because I'm still enjoying the best sandwich in Haarlem. It's a shame an influencer has been here, sometimes causing long lines, but I live nearby so I can manage it a bit. The service is great and always friendly. I couldn't manage it in such a crowded little place where there's little space behind the counter. The line is long, but the sandwich preparation is remarkably efficient. My favorite, the pork belly with arugula, is quickly made, packaged, and delivered with a friendly smile. Quickly get out of this madhouse and home to savor every bite. See you soon!

Romeo's Italian Sandwiches in Gierstraat - Haarlem 🍅🥖. Always lines, even before opening, honestly 😮! 😅 Out of curiosity, I went twice… 🤣. Yes, freshly baked rolls, large and full of flavor 🇮🇹. Truly Italian, price €8–12/sandwich. And well… Dutch people just love bread, so I understand the long lines 😉✨

Best sandwiches in the Netherlands

Easily the best focaccias I have eaten in the Netherlands! The Mortadella is amazing. It strikes a perfect balance between creaminess and meatiness. Also tried the Porchetta Speciale, which is also reallt good and fresh, but I prefer the Mortadella. Definitely a visit worthy if you are in Haarlem or in the neighborhood of Haarlem!😃

I got a sandwich from Romeo's on recommendation, and I really enjoyed it. I had the verdure sandwich. You can also ask for extra toppings if you like. The sandwich shop had a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, warm, and welcoming. Kudos to the lady who helped me; she sounded Italian when she pronounced the ingredients. She was really nice and was able to explain to me which combinations went well together. I left feeling happy. The sandwich itself is one of the tastiest I've ever had. It was generously filled, the ingredients were fresh, and the bread itself was truly delicious. Kudos, and I'll definitely be back!

Sandwiches are absolutely delicious!

The atmosphere is lively and friendly. Orders are taken amidst smiles and bread carts pass overhead. A young man slicing cured meats and porchetta nonstop, and a small assembly line is constantly bustling. Don't be put off by the line: you'll be served in less than ten minutes. A truly beautiful place.

What delicious sandwiches and tiramisu! The line moves quickly, and when your sandwiches are ready, your name is called. The sandwiches taste wonderful, just right, and the tiramisu was truly outstanding. Highly recommended!

Delicious mortadella sandwiches in Haarlem!

You will not be dissapointed. In my opinion, the best sandwhiches by far in Haarlem.

A small but very nice shop! All dishes are freshly prepared, and you can sample them beforehand. The taste is truly delicious, and all the sandwiches have their own unique touch.

Delicious sandwiches, but not as special as everyone says. In my opinion, definitely not worth the long wait (I waited 20-25 minutes). There are plenty of other good sandwich shops in Haarlem.

There's always such a long line here that I decided to give it a try. I picked up two takeaways. The line was long, but the wait wasn't. They work efficiently. Delicious sandwiches! We had the Coppa di Parma and the Bresaola. The sandwiches were super fresh (still a little warm) and the fillings were very flavorful.

Had a delicious "Cotto" sandwich at the Italian Romeo's in Haarlem: Cooked ham, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes and arugula.

Where are those six stars? This is a different level, a higher class: top-quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, combined in true Italian style (so no random, tasteless Dutch combinations like kapsalon or Nolita's pizzas). The service is also top-notch. Too bad it's always packed!

We had pizza, lasagna, and a focacia. Everything was delicious, highly recommended. We arrived just before closing time. Because the lady felt sorry for us because we couldn't get everything we wanted, she gave us a few pizzas for free. Super friendly and nice.

I love it when food conjures up a memory - this took me back to Florence. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. Their bread is outstanding (which you can buy on its own) and the ingredients are high quality. The ladies at the counter took their time to answer customer questions, and you can tell they are very proud of their product. Grazie, Romeo’s!

Great sandwiches! We had the Salame and the Mortadella Speciale. Delicious foccacias fresh authentic ingredients. The pictures on the wall and the flavors took us back to our time in Rome, and all other Italian vacations. Highly recommended!

When talking about sandwich shops in Haarlem, this place can't be forgotten. Delicious freshly baked bread and all meat is freshly cut. Also delicious vegetarian options. Incredibly tasty sandwiches for such a low price that even my colleague Dutch teacher could afford them. Tip: get them just before lunchtime, otherwise there will be a line.

Based on Google reviews and a desire for a nice sandwich, we stopped at Romeo's on a cycling tour. And we were not disappointed! Such strong flavours, great combinations and super lovely staff. Great for veggies.

We happened to be passing by and luckily stopped in. Homemade bread, homemade pesto, sandwiches filled with love, and very friendly ladies behind the counter, with 883 on the radio. We were even lucky enough to sit outside. To finish, we had two espressos and the homemade tiramisu 😍 Lo adoro! Highly recommended 👌🏼

Every time I pass this café, there is a hugeeee line, so obviously I had to know what the hype was about. I was afraid that the vegetarian sandwich would disappoint, but I actually loved it. The grilled courgette and straciatella paired perfectly on the freshly baked focaccia. The staff are also really friendly and passionate about their food.

Best sandwitches in Haarlem, hands down. I love Jamon Jamon, I really do...but I tend to cut the roof of my mouth with their bread. Romeos on the other hand... you could use this bread as the most magnificent pillow you've ever experienced. Its perfectly fluffy, soft on the inside, with a a very gentle crunch on the outside. I cannot believe I haven't left a review yet. I feel horrible. They are a staple of my life in the Netherlands and I am so grateful with wonderful family has blessed Haarlem with their amazing sandwitches. Pro tip: Try the Coppa de Parma with Prosciutto instead of the coppa de parma as the meat. It's hard to go back after trying that sandwitch. 😍 Oh also all of this, for such an incredible price. I'm shocked every time when I order 3 sandwitches and barely pay over 20 euros. I don't know how they do it but I cant recommend them enough. Oh, pro tip #2: The inside is usually quite crowded because they are always busy at lunch time, but you can always order to go and then walk somewhere sunny along the water to eat. That's my boyfriend and I's favorite thing to do on a Wednesday afternoon on a break from work.

Romeo's in Haarlem is super fun! It is a very cozy place where you can enjoy a delicious meal. The people who work there are very nice and make you happy. The food is also not expensive, so that's nice. It is located right in the center, so you can easily go there if you are shopping. Truly a place where you would like to come back! What a wonderful lunch spot. To me it really feels like a moment in Italy at its best, without having to take a plane. Even in Italy itself, I have not found many sandwiches like Romeo's!

Seeing Italian guys behind the counter is a guarantee, but in this case it deserves a 10 and praise. The environment is small but well looked after and above all clean. The sandwiches are excellent, quickly prepared on the spot with quality ingredients. As an Italian, I can only absolutely recommend it!

Not delicious, but DELICIOUS! The warm crispy rolls fresh from the oven, the meat is freshly cut for you, the staff is incredibly friendly and here and there some Italian is spoken in the shop. It is as if you imagine yourself in Italy for a moment. I can recommend Coppa di Parma, delicious with truffle, Parma ham and burrata. In addition, there are also delicious small pizzas and desserts.

My friend and I enjoyed our lunch at the cafe together and the staff were so friendly:) This is a very popular local bakery where you can enjoy the sandwiches here, including ham and cheese imported from Italy, and homemade bread! Prices start from €5, which is reasonable, and the portions are plentiful, so this is definitely a recommended restaurant if you're in Harlem. My recommendation is the prosciutto ham, mozzarella, and arugula sandwich! It's so crowded on Saturdays that you can line up, and it's closed on Sundays and Mondays, so it's best to check the business hours and go on weekdays!
