we visited as a large group after receiving glowing recommendations for the food, service and atmosphere and we were NOT disappointed!! a gorgeous menu in an intimate setting - food cooked to perfection with a variety of unique dishes. every single guest in our group said their food was delicious!! cocktail menu is equally as impressive and extensive. our sever Ricci was the highlight of our visit - an extremely knowledgeable and friendly woman. funny, smiling and so attentive - a real gem a server and true credit to this restaurant. thank you!!! 🙏

Salmuera is not a fancy restaurant—and that’s exactly the point. From the moment you enter, you immediately feel the vibe. Great atmosphere, great steaks, and a place full of energy. The ceviches are a must—try all of them! If you’re a mezcal person, you definitely need to try at least two. And if cocktails are your thing, you’ll love this place. The only downside is the excessive noise. But strangely enough, the noise also feels like part of the experience! I’m not even sure Salmuera would feel the same if it were quiet… maybe just one click lower would make it perfect. Great food, great drinks, great vibe. Definitely a place I would come back to.

An absolutely stunning place and a truly unforgettable culinary experience. The quality of the meat was exceptional — every bite was simply perfect. Everything was beautifully executed, from the food to the atmosphere and the service. The cocktail selection was incredibly sophisticated, with a fantastic choice of Mezcal as well. And the chocolate dessert, beautifully finished with a delicate touch of gold leaf, was the perfect ending to an extraordinary meal. Everything was simply perfect. A wonderful experience that I highly recommend!

A nice restaurant, but a bit too noisy. Just the voices would have been enough. Music unnecessary.

This was our 5th visit. The food and drinks were good, especially the prime-cuts in particular was excellent. The food definitely met our expectations. Unfortunately, the service during this visit was very disappointing and left a bad impression. After we finished our dessert and our plates were collected, we received the bill almost immediately (It's not a busy evening). The staff member didn’t ask how we found the food or drinks, nor did they ask if we would like anything else, such as another drink? What made it even more disappointing was that we noticed the same thing happening at other tables as well (same service guy). It seemed like the staff were simply trying to finish the service rather than making sure guests had a pleasant dining experience. It’s a shame because we really enjoyed the food on our previous visits. Unfortunately, because of the service we experienced this time, we were very disappointed, and this will most likely be our last visit.

I understand that it’s Amsterdam and Jordaan location but I found it quite overpriced for what you get, portions were small. 56€ for 400gr of Entrecôte were 50gr +/- are fat, 11€ for 6 asparagus, 8,50€ for a bread portion where it’s just 4 slices of bread with “chimichurri butter” Noisy and small/middle tables, maybe less decoration or smaller wood trays ? Just suggest. Service perfect nothing to say regarding to the employees, they were nice

The side dishes arrived first, but the main dishes only came after a long wait and several requests. Also, there was unfortunately way too little leche de tigre in the ceviche. The price-performance ratio wasn't very good.

One of my favorite places in AMS by far 😍 Not only are the food and drinks fantastic but the staff is on another level. They are warm, friendly and great story tellers on what you will be experiencing. A big shout out to Cohen. Im Mexican myself and must say that I’ve never met someone so passionate and knowledgeable about the Mezcal world. He is fantastic and we got to taste amazing Mezcal and learned so much about what makes them unique and the process as a whole. Cant wait to be back 😍

nice cocktails, steaks and sides were very good. ceviche was lacking flavor (missing the leche di tigre somehow). service was mediocre - they didn't check on us, we asked for something additional which never came and we had to ask again. a bit loud and warm inside. overall nice but could be improved.

Italian Waitress was amazing, and very attentive to my Italian partner’s parents. Food was ok, the plátanos plate was nice, but the tacos were extremely small, and the bread was low quality like from the supermarket.

Hosts were very attentive, and super kind. Offered me great recommendations. The cocktails were 10/10. And the highlight of the evening was indeed the food. Every piece of meat was heavenly. I tried the sweet peppers and was in awe of how good they were. Honestly, I had heard great things about Salmuera, but I had my doubts. They are now gone and I will be coming back soon to try everything I missed!

The best meat empanadas I've had in Amsterdam! I went with friends and we sat on the terrace—everything was beautiful! The staff was super friendly!

So I searched for a place like this in Amsterdam with the help of chatgpt and he offered me this one and it was exactly what I was searching for. I love the vibe of gastrobars: just a few dishes on the menu but high quality. Not too much, just enough. And I wanted to surprise my husband with a good steak. Mission completed! The atmosphere is environmental, you can sit outside in a courtyard with great „city vibes“ and also inside a lot of nice space. And what I like is, when I ask the service „what could you recommend“ and they answer immediately, just like they think. I trusted the kind guy and he recommended me a cocktail, that was exactly what I needed, even if I even didn’t knew what I want. The service was great, not too much attention, but on point. I guess that’s all what this restaurant and bar is about. When you are searching for a random cocktail and a random dish, go anywhere else. Here you get the best steak and best mezcal. It‘s about taste and enjoying. 10/10.

I want to start by saying that the food and the atmosphere at this place are great. My low rating is specifically for a given situation. When making a reservation for 5 people, I was required to pay a 15 euro deposit per person, so 75 euros in total, which would be deducted from the final bill. All good - this is normal practice in a lot of popular restaurants in Amsterdam, especially on busy days such as Fridays. When the bill came, however, the amount of 75 EUR was not deducted from it, and I only realized this on Saturday. I called them, they apologized for the mistake, said they were busy at the time, and gave me an email address where I should send all the details. I did so right away. There was still no answer by Monday evening, so I went directly to the restaurant to speak with the manager. He apologized once again, wrote down my details, including my bank account, and said I should have the refund by the next day (Tuesday). On Wednesday, I had to call them again since nothing had arrived on Tuesday. They apologized and said I would have it back by Friday at the latest. Nothing happened on Friday either, so I had to send another email before the money was finally returned to my bank account on Monday (10 days later after the visit). It felt very draining to have to chase them - calling, emailing, and even visiting the restaurant in person to speak with the manager - just to get things sorted out. Mistakes like this simply shouldn't happen, and if this had been handled more professionally, I would not have left this review. I hope this review will also warn others to keep an eye on their bill and always check whether the deposit has been deducted.

We visited from Hamburg, and all of us were absolutely delighted. The food was exceptional, the service was lovely, and the outdoor seating was very comfortable. I ordered the ribeye, which was cooked to perfection, and my Piña Piña Daiquiri was absolutely divine. The only downside was that we ordered a side of potatoes just as our meals were being served, but after waiting over half an hour they still hadn’t arrived, so I eventually had to cancel the order. Apart from that, everything was excellent, and we’d happily return.

My partner and I stayed in Amsterdam and, on the recommendation of a friend, we decided to dine at Salmuera. A romantic restaurant, with attention to every detail: the flowers on the table, the lit candle, and an elegant atmosphere that goes far beyond the simple service. It's precisely these attentions that make the difference. We were welcomed by Simone and Benedetta, who immediately made us feel at home. They pampered us throughout the evening, explaining with great professionalism and helpfulness every dish suitable for my partner's gluten allergy, allowing us to enjoy the dinner with complete peace of mind. Everything was perfect: from the excellent wine selection to the cuts of meat, among the best I've ever eaten, even compared to many restaurants in Italy. The meat was extraordinary, so tender it literally melted in your mouth. We will definitely return to this beautiful restaurant, not only for the excellence of the food, but above all for the hospitality and humanity we encountered. It's true that you should never judge a book by its cover, but when the cover is this beautiful and thoughtful, and the content even surpasses it, then you've found a place truly worth remembering... and returning to. Food is great, as is the service. Just be aware: if you come during the weekend, you won’t be able to have a conversation in there due to the level of noise. Also, they very recently changed the menu, so a lot of items that we loved had been removed completely, and we miss the old menu. The selection isn’t what it used to be.

Very disappointing, all four steaks at our table were overcooked and the octopus was old and very fishy. Had much higher expectations but definitely not worth the money. The cocktails were nice and the manager attempted to fix things by bringing a couple desserts to the table.

What a wonderful evening we had here on the Rozengracht. Everything was perfect down to the last detail. The flavors were fantastic, and I found the presentation of the food on the wooden boards very atmospheric. The grilled meat with the fresh chimichurri, in particular, was a real highlight of the meal. The cocktails, served with a fresh slice of grapefruit, were also perfectly balanced. We had a lovely time here and will definitely be back soon.

The food was outstanding. If you are in a rush don't eat here as Chrysler take time to prepare the food.

During my stroll through the city, I can say I had some spectacular empanadas—you could eat them with your legs wide open! Then I ordered a steak with potatoes, and it was also exquisite; totally worth it. The drinks are excellent too. As an Argentinian, I have to say it's a highly recommended stop if it's within your budget.

I used to eat Salmuera every Sunday at the bar but will never return. Last week, I ordered the octopus among other things and almost every dish was decently good. The octopus came out 45 minutes later than everything else and was stuck to the plate and overcooked to an absurd degree. Then it had a strong fishy odor and smelled like ammonia and I literally couldn’t finish a single bite. When I informed the server she took it back to the chef who apparently tasted it and said it was normal and nothing was wrong with it the texture or taste. They ultimately took 10EUR from the bill even though the dish was 30EUR. The response was super condescending as if I hadn’t tasted seafood before. I’ve been to Salmuera over 20 times and I eat seafood enough to know when it’s not fresh and on the verge of being spoiled. Didn’t want to argue and still tipped the server but I think it’s better to acknowledge when you make a mistake as a restaurant. If they would’ve just taken the dish off, it would be 5 stars but the response was super off-putting

***TOURIST TRAP*** Starter - Fried Corn - arrived in about 30 seconds. Clearly not cooked fresh Steak - Ribeye - over salted and a poor cut. This is not dry aged, its supermarket grade meat. disappointing Wine - very small glasses. Buy a bottle or just get water or beer. Again, very disappointing. My suggestion: Look at the photos others have posted, the pics a representative of what you will get - below average tourist trap - find somewhere else even if it will cost you slightly more money.

Proper Argentinian steak, not the overpriced rubbish you normally get in Amsterdam

Outstanding. Started with Guava Margarita and Paloma! Fresh, hand-crafted! Appetizers of Quesadillas, Pork belly, Empanadas. More drinks! Then the trout and chicken! Perfection! Ask for Gio as your sever; professional, helpful and takes the time to walk you through the comprehensive menu! Salud!

The steaks came well done, the whole table ordered medium rare. This is ridiculous for a place known for their meats. Will never come again.

The food and drinks were good. We had a problem with the service..eventhough we had a booking but the outside area was a walk in. We were 3 and there was a free table for 4 but the guy there started negotiating with us that he can't seat us eventhough there was another table of 3 people sitting at a table of 4. And after we sat he warned us that he might move us in case he got a group 4, and after that another group of 3 people came and they used the table of 4 without any arguments or negotiations. That wasn't kind, to keep us waiting and to continue negotiating non sense, and to ask us where we were from before we are seated.

The food was good, but the service let the experience down, even by Amsterdam standards. It was hard to get a waiter’s attention, and the wait for drinks (even a beer) was far too long. That said, I can highly recommend the chocotorta.

Had dinner there, and everything was delicious. The starters on the menu are all delicious, and can be filling enough to have a full meal from just the starters. The service was very good, and the atmosphere in the inside area is great, with both the decorations and the music.

Great experience and lovely food. But I am quite sad that you use the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ as an indication for male and female urinals. It is disheartening to see human beings using very Holy objects as indication for urinals. Why does the owner not use his mother and father’s picture as an indication for the urinals? - You can’t because you respect them. It is a sheer lack of disrespect and you should be ashamed of yourselves. People have died in religious wars in the past and if you were in the era your heads would have been on a platter. Show some respect and take the portraits of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ off your toilets doors now.

Best steak in the Netherlands, ours was fantastic. Almost all the service was good, except for a gentleman from Belarus who shouted and screamed so loudly that it ruined the experience. It felt like a market when he came to explain which wine we had chosen.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. This was not our first visit, but the service has been consistently poor. On our second visit, we were charged €6 for tap water, which we found unreasonable and not clearly communicated. On our third visit, we specifically ordered a particular mezcal, but we were served a different one . This is not acceptable, especially when ordering a specific drink in a mezcaleria. Also the waitresses spoke on top of me, and told me to order the signature mezcal because she seemed bothered putting in my specific order. Overall, the service was inattentive and disappointing, and these repeated issues made us feel that customers are not treated with care or transparency. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this restaurant .

Very observant waitresses, nothing on the tables was ever empty and they asked nicely if you wanted refills without hanging over you. The entrecôte was amazing, and the sides very good as well.

Delicious food which was clearly prepared with lots of care. Very friendly and accommodating staff who also provided a perfect wine to go with the various dishes we enjoyed. We'll be back for sure!

The atmosphere was extremely authentic and beautiful, but I'm sorry, as someone who's eaten better meats, I couldn't understand why it was so highly praised. The meats were good, but it's not a place I'd say "it was amazing" and would definitely go back to.

We visited Salmuera following a recommendation from some friends, and from the very first moment we understood we were in the right place. The atmosphere was amazing, warm and welcoming. All the staff members were friendly, helpful, kind, and very professional. We chose several meat dishes and every single one was excellent. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was also surprisingly fast. A special thanks to the staff for making the surprise birthday dessert for my girlfriend absolutely perfect! Thank you again for the wonderful experience — we will definitely come back!

De food delicious, almost never eat meat only when it's something really special and for this I found the perfect place! then we had some winged cocktails at the bar and they divinely attended us. 100 per cent recommended!

Visited the place with friends and it was very nice experience. Amazing food, the starters that we chose were delicious and something that I never tried in Amsterdam! Really recommend Bife Lomo Tenderloin! the meat is melting in the mouth! Also cocktails are really nice and different, we all took different and liked everything. Server took a good care of us! We visited Salmuera to celebrate my birthday with my wife, my son, and his girlfriend, and it turned out to be a wonderful evening from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table, where we started with drinks. My wife had a guava margarita, which was absolutely delicious, while my son and I enjoyed a great IPA— I was especially pleased to find a gluten-free option available. For the meal, I ordered the 300-gram prime rib with chimichurri, a salad, and smoked red peppers. My son and his girlfriend both had the 200-gram entrecôte with salad, and my wife chose the grilled chicken gallo negro. Everything we ordered was excellent—well-prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with care. To finish the evening, my son and I shared a Montelobos mezcal, which was a perfect way to round off the celebration. Overall, we had a fantastic experience with great food, good drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you, Salmuera, for making my birthday so enjoyable.

Cool vibes, great mezcal cocktail but service was not great for us at least. Took over an hour for an app and entree? No updates either. We had to ask. A group of 4 people who came after we did (were party of 2) got apps, drinks, and entrees all before we got our entree. Then has the audacity to ask for a tip. No apologies. Smh

Great food, but a lot of groups and VERY noicy. Acoustics are poor and the volume of the groups of (drunk) tourists is just of the charts. Great for bachelor parties but for me anymore.

Salmuera Amsterdam was absolutely fantastic from our appetizers to dessert. Fantastic Southern American food and don't hesitate having the corn-on-the-cob appetizer! Service was excellent as well for a solid five-star rating from us!

I went with my 2.5-year-old son and my husband. We had a SPECTACULAR time! We ordered lomo saltado, ceviche, chicharron, a side of potatoes, and quesadillas. Everything was a hit. Julio served us, and his service definitely enhanced the experience. We live far away, but we would return to the city a thousand times just for Salmuera.

We were waiting for main course (steak) for 2h. Waiters don’t know the menu and what they bring to the table. Staff were not very positive.

We were waiting for 2 hours for our dishes. The service was really bad, they suggested the highest priced cocktail which was not good. Waiters have no idea what the menu is, several times people were bringing wrong food to our table. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place, unless you want to sit and wait for years

Only given 5 stars because it was recommended to us and steaks were delicious. Staff friendly. Had reservations, arrived early. Lovely old, Dutch charm decor, candles on table. Several open tables, we were seated back corner. Slow service. We waited a long time for everything (to be greeted by server, menus, beverage/cocktail order, food, offer for dessert, arrival of course, check.) A 3rd different server finally took our order. I have been to Europe several times before and I know meal times are more relaxed but we were at the restaurant for over 2 1/12 hours. It was very loud in the restaurant. Between the poor acoustics, loud Argentinian music, and guests voices, it was hard to have a conversation, or embrace the maybe relaxed atmosphere they were trying to achieve? We just felt ignored. Steaks were very delicious, cooked beautifully. Cocktail and Water never replenished or asked it another. We to ask ask for our check, we were given wrong one and had to wait again to check out. Maybe they cater more to locals. Overall, we've been to other restaurants in Europe and this one won't be memorable in a good way.

Solid Latin American restaurant in a great Jordaan location with real ambition behind it. The standout of the night was the pork belly — genuinely exceptional, the kind of dish that makes you wish you'd ordered two. The steak was good and well-executed. The octopus was a mild disappointment — a little tough, though not a dealbreaker. Where Salmuera truly shines is the mezcal and agave spirits program, which is supposedly the largest selection in Europe. If you're serious about agave, this is a destination in its own right — the list is extensive and clearly curated with real knowledge behind it. The cocktails lean into those same Latin American flavors and pair well with the food. The vibe is rustic and warm — dark wood, open kitchen, buzzy energy. Service was solid. Overall a worthwhile stop, especially if you come for the mezcal and let the pork belly be the reason you stayed.

I had such a wonderful time at Salmuera. The food tasted fantastic, the quality of every dish was really to remember. We had: Chicharron, Lomo Saltado (WOW) and Tenderloin. While we were eating at the restaurant, someone started taking random pictures of us without asking. It made us uncomfortable, especially since we had no idea who he was. At some point, a man approached us claiming he worked there, but it wasn’t clear if that was actually true. Then the person taking photos demanded money way more than reasonable while we were just trying to enjoy our meal. Even though the food itself was okay, the whole situation felt unprofessional and intrusive. A restaurant shouldn’t allow something like this to happen to its customers. Edit: the server told us that nobody ever dislked being taken a photo of the photographer before after spending a premium to our food and service. It felt as if we were treated racist for being white and in suit. We’re not from amsterdam and usually not in suit and just by occasion and it felt very weird.

It was our first time at Salmuera and we had a delicious meal. The service was superb, compliments to them, and our good friend Mozes gave us excellent recommendations on what was tasty. Furthermore, the atmosphere was TOP, nothing to complain about. We will be back soon.

Not as good as it used to be. When cocktails feature prominently on your menu and a guest asks to make a Salmuera classic that for years was possible to prepare, it is a bit rude to say: its not possible. You dont want to do it, thats not the same thing. Apart from this girl who has been there for more than 2 years, the other staff were wonderful, friendly and polite. Food was ok but a bit bland. Many tourists but the consistency of the quality is still important to locals.
