Outstanding. Started with Guava Margarita and Paloma! Fresh, hand-crafted! Appetizers of Quesadillas, Pork belly, Empanadas. More drinks! Then the trout and chicken! Perfection! Ask for Gio as your sever; professional, helpful and takes the time to walk you through the comprehensive menu! Salud!

Unexpectedly cozy and especially very tasty!!!

The steaks came well done, the whole table ordered medium rare. This is ridiculous for a place known for their meats. Will never come again.

The food and drinks were good. We had a problem with the service..eventhough we had a booking but the outside area was a walk in. We were 3 and there was a free table for 4 but the guy there started negotiating with us that he can't seat us eventhough there was another table of 3 people sitting at a table of 4. And after we sat he warned us that he might move us in case he got a group 4, and after that another group of 3 people came and they used the table of 4 without any arguments or negotiations. That wasn't kind, to keep us waiting and to continue negotiating non sense, and to ask us where we were from before we are seated.

The food was good, but the service let the experience down, even by Amsterdam standards. It was hard to get a waiter’s attention, and the wait for drinks (even a beer) was far too long. That said, I can highly recommend the chocotorta.

Had dinner there, and everything was delicious. The starters on the menu are all delicious, and can be filling enough to have a full meal from just the starters. The service was very good, and the atmosphere in the inside area is great, with both the decorations and the music.

Great experience and lovely food. But I am quite sad that you use the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ as an indication for male and female urinals. It is disheartening to see human beings using very Holy objects as indication for urinals. Why does the owner not use his mother and father’s picture as an indication for the urinals? - You can’t because you respect them. It is a sheer lack of disrespect and you should be ashamed of yourselves. People have died in religious wars in the past and if you were in the era your heads would have been on a platter. Show some respect and take the portraits of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ off your toilets doors now.

I'd say it's the best meat we've ever eaten. The price is quite high, and nothing is served with the meat.

Best steak in the Netherlands, ours was fantastic. Almost all the service was good, except for a gentleman from Belarus who shouted and screamed so loudly that it ruined the experience. It felt like a market when he came to explain which wine we had chosen.

Great flavors! We tried the Classic Ceviche and the Nikkei Ceviche, and both were fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Excellent food and a wonderful dining experience!and the service is great!

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. This was not our first visit, but the service has been consistently poor. On our second visit, we were charged €6 for tap water, which we found unreasonable and not clearly communicated. On our third visit, we specifically ordered a particular mezcal, but we were served a different one . This is not acceptable, especially when ordering a specific drink in a mezcaleria. Also the waitresses spoke on top of me, and told me to order the signature mezcal because she seemed bothered putting in my specific order. Overall, the service was inattentive and disappointing, and these repeated issues made us feel that customers are not treated with care or transparency. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this restaurant .

Very observant waitresses, nothing on the tables was ever empty and they asked nicely if you wanted refills without hanging over you. The entrecôte was amazing, and the sides very good as well.

Delicious food which was clearly prepared with lots of care. Very friendly and accommodating staff who also provided a perfect wine to go with the various dishes we enjoyed. We'll be back for sure!

We visited Salmuera following a recommendation from some friends, and from the very first moment we understood we were in the right place. The atmosphere was amazing, warm and welcoming. All the staff members were friendly, helpful, kind, and very professional. We chose several meat dishes and every single one was excellent. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was also surprisingly fast. A special thanks to the staff for making the surprise birthday dessert for my girlfriend absolutely perfect! Thank you again for the wonderful experience — we will definitely come back!

The atmosphere was extremely authentic and beautiful, but I'm sorry, as someone who's eaten better meats, I couldn't understand why it was so highly praised. The meats were good, but it's not a place I'd say "it was amazing" and would definitely go back to.

Super chevere restaurant! I'm happy that as an Ecuadorian I found a spectacular Ecuadorian waiter! super friendly and acertivo! De food delicious, almost never eat meat only when it's something really special and for this I found the perfect place! then we had some winged cocktails at the bar and they divinely attended us. 100 per cent recommended!

Visited the place with friends and it was very nice experience. Amazing food, the starters that we chose were delicious and something that I never tried in Amsterdam! Really recommend Bife Lomo Tenderloin! the meat is melting in the mouth! Also cocktails are really nice and different, we all took different and liked everything. Server took a good care of us! Definitely will come back! 🙏🏼

The best steak I have had in Amsterdam. The meat was very well seasoned, tender and juicy. Quick service. Definitely worth visiting.

We visited Salmuera to celebrate my birthday with my wife, my son, and his girlfriend, and it turned out to be a wonderful evening from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table, where we started with drinks. My wife had a guava margarita, which was absolutely delicious, while my son and I enjoyed a great IPA— I was especially pleased to find a gluten-free option available. For the meal, I ordered the 300-gram prime rib with chimichurri, a salad, and smoked red peppers. My son and his girlfriend both had the 200-gram entrecôte with salad, and my wife chose the grilled chicken gallo negro. Everything we ordered was excellent—well-prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with care. To finish the evening, my son and I shared a Montelobos mezcal, which was a perfect way to round off the celebration. Overall, we had a fantastic experience with great food, good drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you, Salmuera, for making my birthday so enjoyable.

Cool vibes, great mezcal cocktail but service was not great for us at least. Took over an hour for an app and entree? No updates either. We had to ask. A group of 4 people who came after we did (were party of 2) got apps, drinks, and entrees all before we got our entree. Then has the audacity to ask for a tip. No apologies. Smh

Great food, but a lot of groups and VERY noicy. Acoustics are poor and the volume of the groups of (drunk) tourists is just of the charts. Great for bachelor parties but for me anymore.

Salmuera Amsterdam was absolutely fantastic from our appetizers to dessert. Fantastic Southern American food and don't hesitate having the corn-on-the-cob appetizer! Service was excellent as well for a solid five-star rating from us!

The food was good, but I had expected more. The octopus was gone, even though we arrived early. Compliments to the bartender. The cocktails were excellent.

I went with my 2.5-year-old son and my husband. We had a SPECTACULAR time! We ordered lomo saltado, ceviche, chicharron, a side of potatoes, and quesadillas. Everything was a hit. Julio served us, and his service definitely enhanced the experience. We live far away, but we would return to the city a thousand times just for Salmuera.

We were waiting for main course (steak) for 2h. Waiters don’t know the menu and what they bring to the table. Staff were not very positive.

We were waiting for 2 hours for our dishes. The service was really bad, they suggested the highest priced cocktail which was not good. Waiters have no idea what the menu is, several times people were bringing wrong food to our table. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place, unless you want to sit and wait for years

Only given 5 stars because it was recommended to us and steaks were delicious. Staff friendly. Had reservations, arrived early. Lovely old, Dutch charm decor, candles on table. Several open tables, we were seated back corner. Slow service. We waited a long time for everything (to be greeted by server, menus, beverage/cocktail order, food, offer for dessert, arrival of course, check.) A 3rd different server finally took our order. I have been to Europe several times before and I know meal times are more relaxed but we were at the restaurant for over 2 1/12 hours. It was very loud in the restaurant. Between the poor acoustics, loud Argentinian music, and guests voices, it was hard to have a conversation, or embrace the maybe relaxed atmosphere they were trying to achieve? We just felt ignored. Steaks were very delicious, cooked beautifully. Cocktail and Water never replenished or asked it another. We to ask ask for our check, we were given wrong one and had to wait again to check out. Maybe they cater more to locals. Overall, we've been to other restaurants in Europe and this one won't be memorable in a good way.

Solid Latin American restaurant in a great Jordaan location with real ambition behind it. The standout of the night was the pork belly — genuinely exceptional, the kind of dish that makes you wish you'd ordered two. The steak was good and well-executed. The octopus was a mild disappointment — a little tough, though not a dealbreaker. Where Salmuera truly shines is the mezcal and agave spirits program, which is supposedly the largest selection in Europe. If you're serious about agave, this is a destination in its own right — the list is extensive and clearly curated with real knowledge behind it. The cocktails lean into those same Latin American flavors and pair well with the food. The vibe is rustic and warm — dark wood, open kitchen, buzzy energy. Service was solid. Overall a worthwhile stop, especially if you come for the mezcal and let the pork belly be the reason you stayed.

While we were eating at the restaurant, someone started taking random pictures of us without asking. It made us uncomfortable, especially since we had no idea who he was. At some point, a man approached us claiming he worked there, but it wasn’t clear if that was actually true. Then the person taking photos demanded money way more than reasonable while we were just trying to enjoy our meal. Even though the food itself was okay, the whole situation felt unprofessional and intrusive. A restaurant shouldn’t allow something like this to happen to its customers. Edit: the server told us that nobody ever dislked being taken a photo of the photographer before after spending a premium to our food and service. It felt as if we were treated racist for being white and in suit. We’re not from amsterdam and usually not in suit and just by occasion and it felt very weird.

I had such a wonderful time at Salmuera. The food tasted fantastic, the quality of every dish was really to remember. We had: Chicharron, Lomo Saltado (WOW) and Tenderloin. Will for sure recommend it and go back during my next visit to Amsterdam. Shout out to Marta and Grace, we were served by both of them and the service was excellent!

It was our first time at Salmuera and we had a delicious meal. The service was superb, compliments to them, and our good friend Mozes gave us excellent recommendations on what was tasty. Furthermore, the atmosphere was TOP, nothing to complain about. We will be back soon.

Not as good as it used to be. When cocktails feature prominently on your menu and a guest asks to make a Salmuera classic that for years was possible to prepare, it is a bit rude to say: its not possible. You dont want to do it, thats not the same thing. Apart from this girl who has been there for more than 2 years, the other staff were wonderful, friendly and polite. Food was ok but a bit bland. Many tourists but the consistency of the quality is still important to locals.

The food was even nicer than the first time. I didn’t love the sides and salads as much but the meat was perfect. Staff was friendly and helpful!. Only the music volume was increased half way through the night which made hard to chat so got a little too loud but otherwiise it was a good evening altogether!

We haven't experienced such bad service in a long time. There were only six of us, and orders were constantly being forgotten (water, wine list, napkins, cutlery, side salad, 3 (!) main courses, and a starter (which turned out to be out of stock, but that wasn't communicated; it simply didn't arrive). We didn't hear an apology, only a "chicken is coming, but we want to make sure it's cooked properly" (they'd forgotten it). The staff also seemed quite stressed. It really made for a much less enjoyable evening. The food was fine, but overpriced for what you get (main courses are small portions, so you have to order side dishes). The fish seemed boneless, but there were still bones in it, which made it difficult to eat. Finally, I also found a hair in my food.

I would like to start by saying I think they had an off day. I rarely even consider writing a bad review. However, one specific moment made me write it. I don’t mind waiting if there is clear communication, but lying and acting clueless is what gets to me. I’m genuinely disappointed. I was recommended this spot and told to try their empanadas and rib-eye with some sides, so we ordered them all at 18:00. The empanadas came a little later, but they were very nice. After that, we were waiting for the main courses (and sides). Seeing other people who came in later getting their food before us did raise some questions. Our sides also had not arrived. One staff member went to check and said “4 minutes.” Fifteen minutes passed with no sign of our food. After some more time, we asked again, and the next staff member went to check and came back with, “Just 5 more minutes, guys.” Another 20 minutes passed, and still nothing, and we repeated this cycle. 1.5 hours passed… and that’s when our food showed up with only 2/3 sides. That missing side did not arrive, yet it was added to the bill. After paying and walking out, the staff member who kept adding minutes to the waiting time asked, “Was everything good, guys?” while smiling. He knew the answer to that question, yet chose to act clueless…

I went to this restaurant today and I was pretty disappointed. First of all we ordered empanadas and tempura cauliflower, it tasted really good but the time it took to come was on an other level. If I would guess I say about 25 mins, and it was only the starters. We then got beef as our main dish and it took sooo long to come (1 hour?), i was okay with the time but…. The beef was cold. I was really disappointed at this point. The only thing that saved a one star review was the staff, the staff here is soooo friendly. But overall a 2 star review. 😥

Amazing food. Very passionate wait staff (particularly Martin) who wanted to engage and show us nice wine pairings for our food. Would recommend this place every day of the week.

Unfortunately, my experience here was disappointing. The service was slow, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, which made the visit less enjoyable. The food didn’t meet expectations — several dishes lacked flavor and didn’t feel freshly prepared. I was also surprised that the chef didn’t seem attentive to detail that evening. The presentation was rushed, and the flavors didn’t feel balanced, as if the kitchen was having an off night. For the price, I expected a higher level of consistency and care. I hope the restaurant can improve, but based on this visit, I wouldn’t return.

I was excited to try this steakhouse, but the experience was disappointing. Our food took over an hour, and the steak arrived tough and under-seasoned. The waitress was kind and clearly felt bad about the kitchen’s mistakes, but no one else seemed willing to take responsibility. Don’t let some of the other reviews fool you — my visit didn’t match them at all. Como decimos, “no todo lo que brilla es oro.”

I definitely do not recommend it to anyone. The service is very slow. The waiters are very indifferent. They brought our order wrong twice. They are very inattentive. We have been waiting for our orders for 1 hour. The prices are much higher than average, yet the service is very poor.

This was a very disappointing experience. The meat had an extremely bad taste and was clearly undercooked, making it nearly impossible to enjoy. On top of that, the staff were very rude throughout our visit. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.

The worst dinner experience in my life. We waited 1.5 hours for our orders to come, orders arrived 2 times, and both times they were wrong orders. At the end of the 1.5 hours, not just main dishes but our side orders haven't arrived. Don't go to this place. A couple months ago I went with friends and waited 2 hours, gave a second chance then they ruined it again. Don't let restaurants with poor services treat you badly just because there are not many places in Amsterdam. I am not even mentioning dirt, bad approach etc.

a fantastic place with delicious food and drink - the mezcal collection is out of this world and the biggest in Europe. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive and the atmosphere is more than welcoming. Highly recommend if you are visiting or living in Amsterdam

Best food I had on my trip to Amsterdam. We had two empanadas, two tenderloin steaks, guacamole, chimichurri sauce, chimichurri bread, plus a bottle of still water, for €90 — It was all excellent ! Highly recommend.

While I was going to a cigarette with my friends, and we said to the waitress do not remove my plates because I was still eating , when I came back my plates was gone

Really nice Argentinian restaurant with great food, an interesting rotating cocktail menu and a solid wine list. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Only downside: if you’re seated upstairs, service can be a bit slow and you sometimes feel a bit forgotten. Still, definitely worth a visit, just be prepared to flag someone down if you’re on the upper floor.

Salmuera is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. I’ve been there several times, and it’s always an exceptional experience. The meat is absolutely amazing — perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, just what you’d expect from a proper Argentine asado. The sides are authentic and truly traditional, bringing the real taste of Argentina to the table. The staff is fantastic: friendly, welcoming, and always on point. The atmosphere is warm and lively, the kind of place where you instantly feel good. In short: go with your eyes closed, it’s a guaranteed great night out!

My waiter Moses was exceptional! I told him what cut of steak I like and he recommended a delicious steak with the right size and the perfect sides (potatoes and salad). He topped it off with recommending the perfect red wine to complement my meal. He was attentive and extremely helpful on what was actually my 53rd Birthday dinner in a new country! Meal and location were phenomenal!!

If you want to sit in a nice, full, good restaurant during the week, this is the place to go. I was there on a Monday evening, and it was absolutely packed. The food is really good and delicious, and the tournedos is a real standout. It's a large and busy restaurant, but it retains its cozy feel thanks to the beautiful interior and wonderful lighting. All in all, fantastic!!
