Yokomo in Amsterdam’s quiet Rivierenbuurt is an absolute treasure. Tucked away in a calm, cozy neighborhood, this restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience built around Nikkei cuisine—a beautiful fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors. Everything, from the atmosphere to the plating, is curated with care and attention to detail. The food was outstanding. Every dish felt vibrant, balanced, and full of character. Highlights included the miso aubergine tempura, perfectly crisp with deep umami notes, the tuna tostada with its fresh, bright flavors, the gamba ceviche and the guacamole with crunchy corn crackers, which was so simple yet incredibly addictive. Each plate not only tasted amazing but was presented with real artistry. The drinks were just as impressive, thoughtfully crafted and beautifully served, complementing the food perfectly. On top of that, the staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with exceptional food and a refined but relaxed vibe, Yokomo is a must-visit. A standout in Rivierenbuurt—and in all of Amsterdam.

A delightful family-run restaurant with a beautiful combination of Latin and Asian dishes.

We had a wonderful meal. Guacamole started, followed by a delicious tuna ceviche, then delicious shrimp sushi, and finally, a delicious steak skewer (sorry, I don't remember the name). It was very well prepared and wonderfully tender. The patatas braves were also delicious. Finally, a delicious dessert with tres leches and ice cream, melon, and even macaroni. All very tasty, and that for a €42 menu for six courses. A very nice sharing menu. The service was also very good; it wasn't very busy, so highly recommended! The Japanese and Peruvian influences are clearly noticeable. I will definitely be back!

The food was amazing, super delicious. We came 2 days in a row since it was so good. Also the cocktail. We ordered a few fish dishes, the crispy tuna roll, a great pekin duck. Yammmi. The waitresses were lovely. It is one of the best restaurants ever. The atmosphere is very nice, good music in a perfect volume. Nicely designed. I recommend.

Had an excellent meal in this best kept secret of Holland. Came upon this restaurant after a search for a fusion place on my trip to Holland. Excellent cuisine mixing the Spanish and Asian styles of cooking. Food presentation was amazing and the food tasted just as delicious as it was presented. Look forward to returning on my next trip. You won’t regret visiting Yokomo.

These aren't typical Peruvian dishes (it says Peruvian restaurant outside and Latin restaurant on the menu), but despite the modifications, the result is quite good. At least the sautéed beef bowl (their version of lomo saltado) with rice. The extras (corn, edamame, etc.) went very well. The chicken chicharrón was also delicious. The pisco sour was a bit light on the pisco. They didn't have a good, fresh spice. Just Tabasco.

This is truly one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. Friendly staff, amazing food. Great cocktails; I eat there regularly with my husband, children, and sisters. Lovely atmosphere and music. I think they deserve a bigger location and should expand throughout the Netherlands. Pricey, but definitely worth it!

The four of us had a great meal at Yokomo. I am vegan myself and am not allowed to have onion or garlic, which is often a bit of a hassle in many other restaurants. Here everything was freshly made and adapted to my intolerance. Super friendly and helpful waiter Marco and we laughed a lot. Next time I will definitely come back with my sisters and mother who have the same dietary requirements.

Excellent tapas. Their take on a Caesar salad is creative and perfect for sharing. Tuna tataki was very good. Would have been 5 stars, but when I order a beer and tap water, don't tell me "we don't have tap water." What a foolish way to start out your brief relationship with a customer. I'm paying for a beverage. Let me have Amsterdam's fine tap water as well.

What a secret gem! From the outside you can't tell that it LOOKS SO NICE on the inside! The service is really nice and cozy! Love it!!! We need more service like this. Maybe they should do a little more on the outside, because I've been living here for 9 years and I never noticed it. Otherwise I would have gone much sooner! See you soon Yokomo!

We took family visiting Amsterdam here because we recalled the food being so good. But felt so bad because every. Single. Thing. We ordered was terrible. Maybe the guac was acceptable but I mean it's just guac so... I don't know what happened to this restaurant. Did the chef change? The same dishes we offered the first time we visited tasted god awful the second time. We were still hungry when done but didn't bother to order anything else because it was no good.

I had a really good meal here! Every dish was so flavorful. Especially the birria taco. 3 dishes per person is fine. Staff were friendly. The music was very nice. Perfect volume. I don't understand how this restaurant isn't packed. I would recommend it to everyone!

Delicious food a great combination of japanese amd south american cusine. Especially the ceviche of seabass and tuna were perfect. I also loved pimentos de padron, freshly made guacamole and churros! Extremely nice service! Highly recommended!

All in all it was an okay experience. We ordered 5 dishes in total. It was tasty but not over the top. The service was mediocre. While we were still eating something, we were asked twice if they could take it with us. (That could also be the inexperience of the staff). In any case, they tried very hard. All in all… it's a great place to do shared dining for once.

A beautiful and cozy restaurant and that's it. Definitely some areas for improvement here and there. Had an all you can eat here on Tuesday evening without any expectations. First of all, everything is served very nicely and in small portions, but the taste is a bit difficult to describe and everything is not quite right. Everywhere we never make an issue of 1 dish that doesn't taste good and the rest is okay. But we definitely recommend everyone to eat all your dishes until the last bite, otherwise you will be charged €2. In general, we had eaten everything except for 3 dishes (final score €6 extra for the last remaining bites...) We understand the rule of food waste, but if you are charged for something that is literally 1 bite, we thought it was incredibly absurd! Even after this was pointed out, the response was not too understanding. We've never had this at any other all you can eat, even though we left some edamame beans or fries, never mind! If things are this strict here, we also expect better service and quality of the food! I'm willing to pay extra for that! After 2 rounds and a dessert we called it a day. Unfortunately not worth repeating for us.

The restaurant has a nice appearance and a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. We opted for the all-you-can-eat menu to try different dishes, but we found the quality of the food disappointing. For example, the sushi rice was cold, which didn't really make it tasty, and it seemed like it came straight from the refrigerator. Furthermore, the dishes were beautifully presented. The service was mediocre. At such a location you would expect a more professional service, but the staff did their best. What really bothered us was the strict enforcement of the 'no waste' policy. We had only eaten two rounds, but still had to pay for a quarter of a portion of skewers that we had not eaten. We understand the importance of reducing food waste, but it does not feel comfortable to be charged extra for such small quantities. This has never happened to us in an all you can eat restaurant and unfortunately it did not contribute to a positive experience.

Yokomo is a unique restaurant featuring tapas style meals with a Latin / Japanese fusion menu. The food was all excellent, beautifully prepared, and just delicious. The service was also great and the atmospherr was nice. Highly recommended.

It is a very nice, beautifully decorated cozy restaurant on a corner of a street where I wouldn't expect a restaurant other than Amsterdam. It is a shared dining restaurant, something I didn't really realize online. I found the choice a little bit limited. The portions are small but it is also shared dining. My table companion did not like the Sushi. Except for the topical...sushi that is. My scallops were tasty, the eggplant too. I just thought everything had too much oil. The sea bass was in some kind of oil and the smallest bass ever in my life. My cocktail fell over and I got a new one for free. Would I go back for dinner = no. For the atmosphere? = Yes. The combination Latin-Japanese Asian is a nice idea... but it didn't appeal to me.

Eating here on a Monday is nothing like Japanese (Latin) cuisine. Not worth it if you are used to good food. Me and my girlfriend left feeling nauseous after the first course. Just paid the full price even though we indicated that it was not what we expected.

Food was okay. We brought our own cake and had to pay separately to eat it.

We had a reservation and upon walking in, were not even greeted. It’s like the host was annoyed and just asked ‘do you have a reservation’?! We were seated and then ignored for about 10 mins when I had to ask for a menu. Another 10 mins passed and I had to ask for the drinks menu. Some friends of theirs came in and were served before us which was not only annoying but disrespectful. We finally ordered, our drinks took so long to come, our food arrived before the drinks. I found the staff incompetent with no acknowledgment or apology for the wait time as if it’s normal to receive food before your drinks. I don’t even remember the food to be honest; the service was just so off putting.

This place is actually not worthy of a star. Although the chicharron was ok. But we have basically been SCAMMED. We come especially on Mondays for the all you can eat. We are also asked at the table if it is our first time here and we agree. It is then explained that we could order 3 dishes per person per round. Do we get the voucher: not all you can eat!!!! We had to pay the full price. The manager indicates that we had to report it ourselves. Bizarre!

Food was terrible and the concept is non existent ... ceviche and tacos al pastor were unfortunately the worst I've ever had. If you want good food, look elsewhere. The concept also makes no sense - for example, why is there a mural of Anne Frank in the middle of this "Latin Japanese fushion" restaurant? 🤷‍♀️

Loved the cocktails presentation and food, try mai tai! for sure recommend there espresso martini and ceviche! P.S. not specifically together :)

I really don't understand why this place is not next to my house. I would eat there more often. This was one of my better restaurant experiences for this year. For Amsterdam standards they have okay prices and especially for the food that they serve. The combination of flavours herbs and spices on some of the dishes that we ordered was simply delicious and very creative. Plenty of vegetarian dishes and that makes the whole experience that much better.

The dishes are little works of art, both in terms of how they look and taste. We followed the staff's tips and we were pleasantly surprised! Very friendly service :)

Went to Yokomo after seeing it on the Fork. The service is good. They serve a lot of dishes that can be quite hard to find in Amsterdam, like chicharron. I really enjoyed the ceviche there, it is really good! Definitely give it a try if you like meats and fish with a latin taste.

I very rarely give a restaurant 5 stars. Yokomo deserves 10! The food was exceptional! We definitely ordered more than advised. The waitress told us 2-3 meals off the menu is enough for 1 person. But we wanted to try more. The cocktails, service and location were also great. I definitely recommend this place. And don’t walk but run!

Recently ate here. We really didn't like the food. Very flat, there was no salt on the rib-eye, the miso eggplant was hard, there was no flavor to the tempura shrimp and we also found the soft shell tacos disappointing. A real waste of money, because they are not cheap snacks either. Very surprised by the positive reviews below. The girl who helped us was very nice and the tent looked nice inside.

I celebrated my birthday here, and what a good experience it was. The food was super tasty and beautifully presented. You can clearly taste the influences of both Japan and Peru in all dishes, very unique! The waiter Marco in particular ensured that we had a very good evening!

Well priced small plates, we sat outside with stroller and the dog. Food is enjoyable and sufficient in terms of sizes.

The warm day turned into a cool evening. The place we chose to eat was Yokomo, an American Latin fusion restaurant. Nice to experience, but they served more Asian dishes and sometimes Latin. We mainly chose the sushi dishes, bao buns, chicken related dishes and of course the wines. Unfortunately, orders were occasionally incorrect and had to be returned. Overall a nice and clean place, space can be tight when the place is full, but it was still very manageable. At first we wanted to sit outside, but the wind made it no more pleasant. In addition, the furniture is no match for the crooked tiles at the front of the terrace, so it is advisable to sit inside.

The food was amazing. We recommend the crispy tuna, the aubergine miso and the delicious sea bass ceviche. The service was a bit slow and I think they were lacking people. So that can be improved. Overall great food and food place. Avoid the cocktails as they weren’t great but wine was pretty good.

This is very good peruvian and sushi restaurant. We really liked the Californian sushi rolls, chickens, ceviche. Portion sizes are small, you need to order multiple dishes and share. I really recommend the ceviche and Tres leches to try. Drinks were also good.

Experienced travelers from Peru and Asia. We really don't understand the 5/5 reviews. Sashimi should be perfect slices of tuna and/or salmon. They certainly weren't pretty slices that invited you to eat. Spots on the raw fish. Made up as if it came from a Sligro package. Kung pao chicken not crispy enough, but tasty. No clear menu (starter, main course, dessert) nor clear in concept and certainly no service that could explain it. For 50 bucks per person we expect a better experience! Or are we used to such poor quality or high prices in Amsterdam that we quickly give this a 5/5? As far as we are concerned, this restaurant does NOT live up to expectations! Disappointed as a birthday outing.

Even though we didn't understand a dish or made a mistake, the service has been excellent, they have adapted the menu to gluten-free options, I still think they should be more up to date with allergies and have an adapted menu. Excellent food, good value for money but we are talking about very good quality and an excellent product. Advisable.

After a day in Amsterdam and because of the positive stories about Yokomo, we settled here for an aperitif and a bite to eat. What a beautiful thing, colorful, acoustically excellent, warm and inviting. Extremely friendly staff and owner, tasty cocktail and excellent Sangria! Extensive menu with beautiful smaller dishes where you are presented with beautiful dishes while sharing and choosing, and attention has been paid to everything; taste, color, texture, layout and also method of serving. We had variants of sushi and various other dishes, the crunchy guacamole is also recommended. Enjoyed it, and enough choice to go back a few times and enjoy!

Nice modern restaurant with a few tables outside..the "Fusion" kitchen concept is interesting and inspired by 2 countries: Peru & Japan..what we ordered was surprising & also tasty!👌..our portions were a bit smaller, but after 3 courses were quite enough 😉.. the service was also attentive & friendly.. all in all, this small restaurant is highly recommended!

The food is delicious, the Margherita too. Still not five stars because it took a long time before we could order each time or receive the ordered drinks - the staff were very busy, did everything they could and were very friendly, but it was simply understaffed in terms of staffing.

We were with 3 people. Each one ordered a cocktail en we ordered 1 bottle of sparkling water. One person wanted still water but they couldn’t give tap water because “they were not allowed”. Its 2024, every restaurant should give tap water if you ask for it. Especially if you already order a €60 round of drink with 3 people. Food was alright. Croky bowl was great, sushi was too dry and soy sauce too salty. Service was terrible but I guess shortage of staff. For me never again.

Hidden gem in the city. This Japanese/Peruvian fusion shop is located in a side street of the Maasstraat. It's not very big. The service is very nice, fairly quick and also speaks Spanish. The menu is quite extensive, divided between meat, fish and vegetarian. The cocktails recommended by the waitress were delicious: not so piña & fruitos rojos sour and the passionfruit mojito!!!!The dishes are not massive and great for sharing. The BBQ chicharron was tasty, a bit on the thick side but well prepared. The rib eye churrasco was unfortunately baked too long, so the meat was completely cooked instead of medium (a shame about the piece of meat)..Tuna Tiradito: flavor explosion, so tasty!!!! Shrimp pops were a bit disappointing, the shrimps were covered in a crispy jacket but otherwise not flavored. The eggplant miso was not worth repeating for me because the eggplant was quite hard. Patatas bravas were tasty as were the padrones pimentos (roasted peppers). The dessert 3 leches was also delicious with popcorn, it was not extremely sweet which I expected, but that was fine. Because there are still so many dishes to try, I would like to come back again.

Nice little restaurant in the Rivierenbuurt. Entering is not easy because the front door is hidden in a very nice way in a telephone booth. Service was good, friendly and the food delicious. Great variety offered on the menu.
