San Diego Restaurant in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

The waiters were not interested at all, we asked repeatedly, but they didn't even clear our empty plates. We gad to take our own plates from the kitchen. They brought garlic bread to the table, which we didn't order, and although we accepted it, there was no garlic in the bread. Other dishes were moderate, there are far more better places. No need to waste your money. REPLY TO RESTAURANT: I don't have the receipt cause we paid in cash but we definitely visited your restaurant, we paid exactly 57Euros, for a carpaccio, garlic bread(that we did not order), pizza with shrimp and wine. You had 2 waiters, one tall, one not. The door was not shut , if the person who comes in shuts it properly, so we had to close the door every time a person comes in, because the weather was too cold. We came on 27th of December, the tall waiter had cigarette outside while we waited for service. It's impossible that I made all this up. Hope I could convince you. Instead of asking for proof, you could have simply said "sorry."

Really, guys are making good pizza. If ur in Damsquare or near by must visit the place.

Terrible experience. The food was awful: the lettuce was clearly rotten, the spaghetti was dry and tasteless, and to top it all off, the Coca-Cola was cheap, low-quality water. When we complained about the spoiled lettuce, the owner became arrogant and rude instead of apologizing. The service was appalling, the attitude arrogant, and the lack of manners. Everything was a disappointment: the food, the drinks, and the customer service. I absolutely do not recommend it.

Today wasn't my plan to have dinner at this pizzeria, but I saw a couple eating there through the window, and while I was reading the menu outside, they recommended I go in because it looked so good. I took their advice and went in to try the food. As soon as I walked in, Peter served me. He was a very calm, polite, and friendly person, and it's a pleasure to be served the way he was. As for the pizza, it was honestly one of the best I've had in a long time. I forgot to take a picture, but I'll do it next time because I'm sure I'll be back!

We stopped by completely by chance and definitely did not regret it. The service was fast and polite, and the food was delicious. The portions were large considering the prices.

If you are italian and you want to get pissed off, come here. The worst italian restaurant we've been in Amsterdam. Overpriced and everything frozen, even the carpaccio! Will not come back.

Total disappointment. Nothing is homemade. The pizza is very thin and has no flavor, even though it’s supposed to be a four-cheese pizza. The pasta was drowned in sauce and really sickening; my friend didn’t eat it. At checkout, there was no commercial gesture at all — the cashier even took the €20 bill because we were missing 70 cents in cash, something I’ve never seen before. I do not recommend this place: expensive and very mediocre.

We spontaneously went into the restaurant for a meal. The welcome was very friendly and the service was excellent. We'll definitely eat at Mom's again.

We had dinner here while in Amsterdam, walking through the old town. The food was excellent! My steak was perfectly cooked and tender, the fries were great and the salad well seasoned and fresh. The owner served us as it was a slow December weekday and his service was attentive and yhoughful. I would highly recommend this place!

It was really very good. The pizzas are generous, the lasagna was excellent, as were the pasta dishes. Go there if you're hungry.

We choose this because the reviews were good and they had gluten free food. It is in a touristic area, I think you should read the reviews in that context. The restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday evening. We were not very satisfied about the quality of the pizza. You can have better somewhere else. They have glutenfree options, which was nice. But I can make better gluten free pizza myself. Service was ok; they were friendly but smoking in the door opening when receiving guests is not something you want to see in at a restaurant. It was a disappointment overall. We regret not have chosen another place.

Very good pizzas and a quiet location. Perhaps it could use more space between customers and a more modern atmosphere. But the food is good.

Came here to try the Gluten free pizza, they do gf pasta and gf beer too. One of the best pizzas I've had was delicious. The gentleman who served us was helpful and friendly. Got seated straight away, not a long wait for food or drinks. Would definitely come back again.

🍕🔥 One of the best pizzas we’ve had in Amsterdam it was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. We came around 8pm before our boat ride and ordered two pizzas, the quattro formaggi and a gluten free pollo pizza made dairy free (no cheese), along with calamari. The staff were really kind. Our waiter Ammar and chef Kamal let us enjoy the appetizers first, then reheated our pizzas when we came back after the ride around 9:30pm. Kamal explained in a very nice way that he didn’t want the pizza sitting cold, but he still took care of it for us respectfully. Honestly, even reheated, the pizza was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The calamari was also delicious and the only downside was that I wanted more. My wife really enjoyed her gluten free dairy free pizza as well. The menu has a lot of options, including gluten free, and the service was excellent. Definitely a must visit pizza spot in Amsterdam. I've been craving pizza for YEARS but I haven't been able to eat it since I had to follow a gluten-free diet. They have yummy gluten-free pizza and they accommodated all our special requests! Ammar, our waiter, was very friendly and accommodating. Kamal, the chef, well, he makes gluten free pizza that tastes just like a delicious traditional pizza! 🍕

We were walking by and stopped in later in the evening. Great service, food was excellent.(Canneloni and Lasagna). The prices are very reasonable. We would definitely go again and recommend to others.

A cozy Italian restaurant with an extensive gluten-free menu (pasta, pizzas). They're very clear about cross-contamination, serious, and professional. The lasagna (a gluten-containing dish, as they warn you about) was very good. The gluten-free Bolognese was hearty and flavorful. The ribs were very juicy. Recommended whether you're celiac or not.

The restaurant is delicious, and what brought me back to it again is their lasagna, garlic bread, and pepperoni pizza. Their lasagna must be famous worldwide. I give them a million out of ten for their service, reception, and smiles.

I can't recommend it. We waited 30 minutes even though we were the only ones there. The pizza was okay, but the steak was rubbery. Medium is well done here, but when I asked for his attention, he repeatedly said it was medium. Never again.

Estábamos esperando poco menos de una hora antes de que uno de los empleados nos dijo que serían otros 10 minutos. Cuando la comida finalmente llegó era promedio en el mejor de los casos. En general solo se sintió discriminado y fue decepcionado por la comida.

We had lunch here and were very satisfied with the 400g rump steak and the noodles. The service was very nice. All in all, we can recommend it.

As they say in the previous comments, if you order gluten-free they will never tell you that they charge you three euros more. The frozen dough pizza and no flavor in either the ham or the tomato. Like the pasta carbonara made of cream and bacon and of course three avecrem pastilles. Overall, the pre-cooked Mercadona sauce is surely better. I don't recommend going. On top of that, Julio Iglesias keeps playing the same three songs. Horrible and if they sit you next to the door that is always left open you will die of cold!

A small restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere, the service is very fast, and the food is EXCELLENT!!!! What's more, perfect! Soft, warm, fresh dishes... Upon asking the waiter to close the door because it was cold, he immediately agreed and turned on the heating. Congratulations!

First restaurant I've been to and I'm left hungry! My boyfriend ordered a calzone that was overall good in size, I ordered some cannelloni, they were literally 2 small ones, all the rest was sauce, I had never eaten such a small dish and the value was not for that! 18 euros to have to go eat something extra somewhere else seems crazy to me! The taste was good, the size bothers me.

I was just here today 20.feb.2025 for the second time this week. I recomend the Garlicbread with cheese overbacked absolutely delicious and so is the mixed salad. Very Friendly and pretty Staff.

I found this beautiful place in the summer 2022. It is a really rare place with such a warm service, vibes and tasty food. Love the owner. Love the team. Love the location in the city old center. It is nice for the family and friends. I was here many times and will come back for sure. And off course, i would highly recommend San Diego to all the Amsterdam guests. This is such a place where i love to leave my money with great pleasure. Wishing San Diego prosperity and grateful visitors.

I don't know where the good reviews come from. The food just tasted bland. And the service was anything but friendly and competent. You get a friendly welcome and that’s it. Can't recommend the store at all.

The service wasn't good at all, the good man forgot our order even though the shop was empty. The ambience was terrible, especially when the Titanic song was playing while we were eating. The food wasn't particularly tasty, it tasted like a frozen pizza. The shop wasn't clean, but I was very happy that the chewing gum stuck to the table and not to the chair. So I can't imagine that other customers wrote these star reviews

The pizza was tasty, but there were fruit flies in the olive oil bottle on the table, and in my wine. In addition, the atmosphere was not very great and the service was short. It also took a long time to get our food.

'Not really an Italian restaurant, the minestrone soup tasted like canned chicken soup with some broccoli and cauliflower. Home and the pasta was fine. Beyond that, nothing special.
