Our experience exceeded our expectations. Chef Jacky was in close contact with us from the beginning (reservation) to the end, ensuring an unforgettable experience. He explained all the dishes with fun facts and jokes. One of the best dinners ever. We had two Edo menus and one Akasaka menu. My favorite dish was the scallops. They were absolutely delicious 😋. The icing on the cake was that my guests were given a birthday surprise with a gift and sweets. Thank you, Chef Jacky! We will definitely be back to try the other menus 😃

Delicious food, friendly service, good service

We have payed a verry big amount and the quality was not even coming close to what we were experiencing 3 years ago. For 1000+ euros this is nog good. There are nowadays better options in Amsterdam.

It's run by Chinese people, but the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable.

Culinary food, products of very high quality

Last night, a large group of us enjoyed all the teppanyaki dishes. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommended!

Terrible restaurant. Tiny portions for an absurdly high bill (€230), and I left hungry. The service was sloppy, the owner soiled my clothes, and the chef didn't interact with his guests. Unfriendly establishment, terrible service, never again.

Expect to spend a lot of money but it will be well worth it. Everything is very fresh and delicious. They are also very kind. Ideal if you have a special occasion or something to celebrate🥳

Sapporo is a great teppanyaki restaurant. The seafood is super fresh, and everything is cooked right in front of you with impressive skill. The chef was funny and really engaging, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Delicious food, lively atmosphere, and a fun dining experience overall. Definitely worth a visit. Delicious sushi, but service could be better We really enjoyed the food – really top quality. The flavours were refined, everything super fresh and beautifully presented. Definitely worth five stars in that respect. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also pleasant: relaxing and stylish, although it did feel a bit distant. Unfortunately, the chef did not seem very involved or enthusiastic, which made the experience a bit less personal. That is a shame if you are sitting at the bar and hoping for some interaction or passion for the profession. What was really a negative point: we asked for a glass of water with a bill of 300 euros, but they did not want to give it. That felt unnecessarily strict – especially at such a price level you expect some hospitality. In short: fantastic food, nice atmosphere, but the service could be even better. We would love to come back, hopefully with just a bit more warmth from the staff.

Been to Sapporo Teppanyaki & Sushi and what a great experience! The chefs prepare the food with so much passion and spectacle, it really is a show in itself. The teppanyaki dishes were wonderfully fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the sushi was of top quality. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and the service is super friendly and attentive. Definitely recommended if you like Japanese food and want a fun night out! I'll definitely be back!

Eating at the teppanyaki is always a party. Especially at Sapporo. Wonderful, intimate and cozy.

The quality of the food was good, but you had 0 interaction with the chef and even though it was a birthday, we didn't even make it to dessert. We were kindly asked to leave because another group was arriving.

A totally new dining experience for me! The food is prepared live by a chef, is of great quality and tastes fantastic! The service always keeps an eye on full glasses and leaves nothing to be desired. The price isn't exactly cheap, but it's worth it for the experience! I'm looking forward to the next visit :-)

We ate at Sapporo again last weekend. It was beyond amazing. Tenderloin, but REAL tenderloin from a cow that has not run a marathon all its life. Jackie, his wife and son, the chef at the plate, Loon and everyone I have forgotten make you feel like you are the king in your own palace. The food is so ridiculously delicious, very high standard, everything that is made in front of you is so ridiculously fresh and delicious that you wonder where they do the shopping, my steak or chicken does not or never come close to this taste sensation. It is nice and cozy and always full. There are (very important) very good people, including many regular customers, where you (even if you don't know anyone) always have nice conversations at the table. A living room atmosphere at the highest level. You can taste the love in the food and you can feel the love in the service. I've been coming here for years and every time I thought 'I still have to write a review', but after a great evening I forgot about that the next day. Finally, for anyone who has never been here, go enjoy and become a regular customer like me and many others. Here you don't go 'to the FEBO' after dinner 🤪😂❤️ Greetings to Jackie

Very pricey for 8 sushis, especially compared to other sushi places. Furthermore, Sapparo to go has different prices than Sapporo Teppanyaki, even if you want to pick up Teppantaki at Sapporo, you pay more than Sapparo to go.

How expensive are they? At Sapporo Amstelveen they charge different prices than Amsterdam. I think 22 euros for 8 pieces of sushi is very expensive. In Amstelveen you pay 15.5 euros. I don't understand it.

Came here for the team building. Super lekker, all the staff are caring and welcoming. Highly recommend if you want to try some Teppanyaki in Amsterdam.

We had the Wagyu Menu, it was amazing, the starter the lobsters were incredible and then the Wagyu... It is fascinating to watch the chef at work as he prepares every dish with practiced movements using only this metal plate.

Air conditioning had been broken for a while and then in a small space at the plate.. 600 euros for 4 people expected a little more

Since I first came into contact with Sapporo last year, I have been sold by the nice atmosphere within the restaurant, the good food and the good service. We have been coming back monthly since then.

It's always a pleasure to eat here. The best Japanese with a plate, and luckily without those tokkie jokes with eggs and such. The menus are always delicious. This time also with lobster. That was really an experience. They also make it extra easy for you to 'dissect'. The ribeye rolls are divine.

Had a very nice evening, food tasted good, service was very good. If your glass was almost empty they would come and ask... What the chef prepared tasted delicious, I have only been to other teppanyaki tables and there was more explanation and love spoken about the food and the preparation, which I missed here. But of course that is also personal and different for everyone. All in all, it is recommended to eat here and even for the price, the Sapporo dessert is recommended 👌

We have to be clear: it’s excellent 😋. On the other hand, it is not for all budgets. Arriving here by chance, with no exterior menu displayed, we were amazed once seated when, for example, we discovered that the children's menu was offered at €45 (the exterior style did not suggest such prices). Knowing that all prices followed the movement. I think that to please yourself and eat your fill, you need to count on around €100 per person => it's not a simple restaurant to go to after leaving your convention at the RAI. We should have looked at prices online.

Food is incredible although the price is a bit too high. Recommend if you want to experience teppanyaki in Amsterdam.

Authentic teppanyaki and they have A5 Wagyu!!! If you are lucky you get master chef Jacky at your table.

The food was fine, but very little for 80 euros pp. Please check your receipt carefully at checkout. I drank 2 Ginger Ale but paid for 5. You also have to take into account that you have to get up at least 3 times because someone has to pass by and it is difficult to understand each other. We also regularly sat in the smoke from the grill.

Had dinner here last night upon invitation in honor of my birthday. What a gift that was! Eight of us at the plate. Chef/owner Jacky pampered us from start to finish. We had the Sapporo menu and everything was prepared with love and passion. The cheerful staff was friendly and fast. We arrived at a quarter past eight and rolled out of the shop around half past twelve. One was even tastier than the other. The restaurant is a beautiful pearl in the city!

2024: birthday celebrated, was again out of the art! 2019: The finest teppanyaki tent in the northern hemisphere. Kids welcome 👍

overpriced and rude service pushing you to consume without care for customer

A bit overpriced and I got a stomach ache during the night

We had 3 different kinds of menu. The receipt is in the last part of the photos if you wanna check it out. Food was okay, it was a bit too salty for my taste. They are flexible with what you prefer. Although, they do rude remarks like when we wanted our wagyu “well done” someone said “it is a waste”. Part of our companions, their culture doesn’t include eating raw meat. - they did a couple of mistakes in our order, but it was nothing that bad, like putting the dish of someone in someone else’s plate. Service: was low bec of 2 reasons - if you are looking for a place where the chef talk about about the food they serve this is not the place for it. - we were in the table where they pass all the dirty dishes and raw meats/seafood. The entire time our chairs was getting pushed back or there was a dish on top of our heads. I was on the look out the entire time. This was a really bad experience for me the whole night. I wish they can improve on this. If you have seafood allergies: - they cook meat & seafood together if you order both, so need to be aware of this

The food is delicious, and they are super friendly, they had a very nice detail with my daughter. Although we didn't speak English well, they did their best to understand us. Very friendly and with excellent food, what more could you ask for?

Best Teppanyaki in Amsterdam by far

Typical Teppanyaki Restaurant. Didn't really know what to expect. Food was really good. The menu choices were also really good and included wagyu beef as an extra option. It was really a good experience. Service was very discreet but very attentive. Ambiente could be nicer. But otherwise unrestricted recommendation.

Echt fantastisch gegeten, bediening is ook echt goed. Ze zitten vaak compleet volgeboekt. Het Sapporo menu is aan te raden. Er wordt duidelijk gecommuniceerd tot hoe laat jouw shift duurt. Wat wel jammer was dat er daarom geen tijd meer was voor een dessert en dat we die buiten op het terras konden eten omdat de volgende groep er al stond dus hebben we het bij koffie gehouden maar die moet je dus ook snel achterover slaan.

Zeer lekker eten en de bediening is ook top en de koks zijn ook super lief Ook long is heel aardig en Jack de eigenaar natuurlijk ook. Al met al één van de beste Japans restaurants

I highly recommend this spot. The meats are of the highest quality. The owner is very involved in every aspect of the restaurant and he has an approachable personality. The attitude trickles down to the rest of his staff. The staff manages to make you feel that you are their singular focus even in a busy restaurant. My wine glass never stayed empty for long. The atmosphere is cozy. Sitting shoulder to shoulder and enjoying high-quality food brings out smiles and laughter all around. You will not regret this meal. Do yourself a favor and go.

This is probably the best teppanyaki I've been to, and I've been to many all over the world. I first went here with my wife and friends in 2019 and it was amazing, from the food, to the service and atmosphere. From then It became the standard that we compared all teppanyaki restaurants to and none have lived up to here. I've found myself in Amsterdam on business twice in the last 6 weeks and both times I've made reservations here. The food and service are still the same high quality level even though the staff has completely changed since 2019. The atmosphere is really about luck as it's highly dependent on who your fellow diners are. If you book a whole table for a party then you'll be fine. But if you book as a couple, the atmosphere is only as good as the other dinners on the table. This is all part of the teppanyaki experience and it's the same rule of thumb wherever you go. We've been lucky most of the time to have fun and friendly fellow diners. It's a fun experience which is very social and be ready to be entertained by your chef and make new friends with your fellow diners l

The place is nice and the employees are really friendly. The food is amazing, I enjoyed the teppanyaki. Overall, it was a great place, I recommend it. It's a bit expensive but it's worth it. I will come back again.

I got the vegan option of teppanyaki around 64.00 euros + 1 lychee juice. You can request them not to use butter for the frying. The meal started with a salad (delicious). The second dish was a veggie mix of mushroom, asparagus, broccoli, zucchini ;they also serve 3 veggie dumplings as a side. The third dish was the veggie fried rice with a side of fried tofu ( a bit of sweetness coming thru the sauce) and some lettuce wraps with fried onion and garlic. I felt that the food was a bit on the salty side.
