Sazanka at the Okura is a celebration of care and craftsmanship. We sat at the teppan table with our daughter, and from the first moment it felt like an evening to remember. Our chef, a woman, entertained us with clear and detailed explanations. She was calm and precise. She did not just cook beautifully; she also walked us through her choices and her story. The pace was pleasant, the courses followed one another logically, and there was enough time to taste without it ever dragging. The ingredients stood out. Fish was super fresh, vegetables had real bite, meat was cooked to perfection. Sauces were tailored and never overpowering. Our daughter was so impressed, received all the attention, and could not stop talking about the fantastic evening. The service was sharp and friendly and anticipated our needs. The wines recommended by the sommelier matched the menu beautifully. Final verdict. A brilliant evening. Sazanka is exactly what you hope for from top class teppan. Outstanding, warm, precise, personal. We will be back.

(book in advance, don’t wear shorts) Took my girlfriend here for her birthday, our baby was being rather fussy so I had to take him for a few laps to calm him down throughout the meal, but the staff were so accommodating of our needs and the chef purposefully slowed down to make sure we had the best experience possible while we tended to the newborn. Cannot recommend this place enough. A little bit outside my usual budget, without a doubt, but worth every cent. The sake sommelier was excellent, management made sure our baby wasn’t in a busy area which resulted in us essentially having a private chef, and the waiter was attentive and exceedingly polite throughout. And if all of the above wasn’t enough, the food was unbelievable. We had one classic and one seasonal menu: the seasonal menu was no reflection of its slightly lower price than the classic menu: almost every single dish in the seasonal menu was both mine and my girlfriend’s favourite (except for the wagyu beef on the classic menu, of course). If you’re looking for a really good experience, delicious food, or just want to shell out a little bit of money on being treated like royalty for a couple of hours, go to Sazanka :)

Sazanka is beautifully situated in the chic Okura Hotel and exudes luxury from the moment you step inside. It's a bit pricey, but you get a complete experience in return. The food was exquisite. Everything was prepared with care and attention to detail. The service was truly top-notch. From the moment we arrived to our departure, we received hospitable and professional service, exactly as you would expect from a restaurant in this price range.

How pampered we were for our 5th wedding anniversary. Food is fantastically fresh and pure in taste. The service is truly very helpful and friendly. The sommelier extremely accurate in the wines and sake with the dishes. Thanks everyone from Sazanka! See you soon

We had dinner at sazanka , my wife and I were celebrating our mariage. The food was excellent, as was the service. Top quality ingredients like lobster, wagyu and bluefin tuna. The food was prepared in an excellent and professional way. The service was also impecable, as we are used to after visiting Japan multiple times. A special mention to the sommelier, she was truly remarkable and knowledgable, enthousiastically telling all the ins and outs regarding the excellent wines and sake. What we really did not like was the fact that you have to share the table with complete strangers! You are seated very close to eachother and you have zero privacy during dinner. When I made the reservation I had specifically requested some privacy due to the special nature of our visit , but upon arrival we were told that it would be a shared table. We have visited tapanyaki restaurants in Tokyo, and over there every table had its own tepanyaki heating plate. The chefs walked from table to table to prepare the food and when they were finished with your table they went over to other tables to prepare the food of the other customers. Privacy means EVERYTHING to the Japanese and it is one of the many reasons why we love Japan so much. I dont mind paying 600 euro for a meal, but I really expect privacy in return. One of the persons sitting within 80 centimeters of us was visibly ill and coughing constantly. His wife was feeling his forehead to check for fever. Since I specifically requested privacy when I made the reservation I expected the restaurant would adhere to my request or inform me of the forced shared seating. Had I known this would be the case I would have opted for another restaurant in Okura.

オークラアムステルダムに3泊して山里、シェルブールと来て最後の夜に鉄板焼さざんかを選びました。東京の同名店を存じているのでどう違うのかオランダでの鉄板焼はどうか興味津々で伺いました。担当は樋口大地シェフ。 結果は大変感激するものでした。日本人の鉄板焼の好みと海外の方の好みが違うことを良く承知の上で細かくニーズを聞いて下さる配慮に感服しました。東京との違いはサラダがないこと眺めが違うこと。東京はタワーの最上階。こちらは一階。これは仕方ありません笑。 また魚貝系の焼きはアムステルダムが優っていると感じました。特に味付けが。 最後は我儘を言いガーリックライスにして頂きました。 アムステルダムの最後の夜を満足させていただき感謝です。

For the money there might be a better option in Amsterdam

This one Michelin star restaurant deserves a 5* from me. Service is without doubt top-notch both being Michelin and a Japanese restaurant known for their service. Food was flavourful and retained their original flavours. They allowed us to swap some dishes around instead of following the whole recommended course. Would recommend for special occasion since price is of course on the high side.

What a memorable experience. We celebrated our 10-year anniversary in Sazanka and loved it. The food prepared by Daichi-san was sublime, and the wine and sake pairing put together by Sergio, the restaurant sommelier, was incredible. Heerlijk gegeten, echt geweldige kwaliteit, verfijning en smaakbeleving. Maar wat het extra speciaal maakt is de mensen rond en achter de tafel. Met speciale dank aan Kaori, die in al onze wensen voorzag, en bijzonder vriendelijk, alert en goedgehumeurd ons deskundig bediende. De chef Tama was zeer kundig en een lust voor het oog om naar haar kookkunsten te kijken. Haar uitleg van de gerechten was interessant en van meerwaarde. Ook de ober die ons adviseerde met de wijn was zeer deskundig en wist onze gebrekkige kennis goed te duiden en heerlijke wijnen te serveren. Aan onze tafel zaten verschillende personeelsleden, die op rustige avonden worden uitgenodigd door hun werkgever om ook te genieten van het menu. Dat was een zeer leuke ervaring en wij waarderen het restaurant hier des te meer om. Kortom een aanrader voor iedereen die een speciale ervaring zoekt.

Had dinner at Saxanka again tonight. Of course it was excellent and friendly service. Yet the prices are no longer in proportion to the quality. Compared to a few years ago, this has more than doubled. Paying €2,900 for six people is quite steep.

Everything was amazing! Our teppanyaki chef was very friendly, and he was very meticulous while preparing our food. Especially the lobster with yuzu sauce was very tasty. The wagyu perfectly melts in your mouth. The servers were also friendly and attentive. It’s pricy, but well worth the price. We will definitely come back.

It was difficult to get a drink. I ordered gluten-free. They asked me what I could eat. They had no idea. Next days I was sick. Probably the teppanyaki plate was not clean enough. Very special for a restaurant like this.

We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The service was excellent from start to finish. There were 8 people around the plate and one chef serving us. We took the Classic menu, which was a wonderful combination of flavors including e.g. fish, lobster and Waquy beef. Some time passed between dishes, which the chef apologized for, but it didn't bother me at all because it was wonderful to watch the master chef working on the plate. All in all a great experience and we will definitely be back if we ever come back to Amsterdam.

We had a great experience at Sazanka. The Service is excellent, starting from a nice welcome by the waiter from the reception. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. The waiter first confirmed our reservation and congrats to us. During the diner, the staff are friendly, checking with us is everything okay, how is the serving speed, would we like to have a chill break before having the dessert etc. Right before we left, the staff congrats us again, really sweet. Our chief is great, she is kind, keep smiling while I cannot imagine how heavy the work she is doing, constantly cooking for us for 3 hours almost. The Atmosphere is really great too. It has soft lighting, decorated with traditional Japanese style. Now come to the most important part for me. The FOOD, it is amazing. We chose the Classic menu. * Started with Tuna tataki (I am too focus on the food and forgot to take picture for it). It has beautifully caramelized crust but super tender inside. * Then come with Seasalt crusted sea bass. The crust looks interesting too, it looks like puffed pancake, asked the chief, it is 90% salf and 10% whisked egg. The fish filet stays juicy with the Seasalt crust on top. The chief bake the fish skin separately, make it super crispy (I love chips, also fish chips) * The 3rd course is Canadian lobster with Yuzu garlic butter. Beside those 3 words: lobster + garlic + butter, what do we need to say more. (Spoil alert: it come with the fire show) * Wagyu steak is definitely the high light of the course. It come with 3 "sauce", himalayan salt, Japanese wasabi and one more (I forgot the name, but that's my favorite match with the Wagyu among all 3) Its provide a bit freshness to compensate well with the grease of Waygu. Btw it come with grilled zucchini and paprika too (I love grilled vegetables!!!!) It also come with some baked Wagyu fat part too. I expect it would be crispy, but the bigger pieces is not crispy enough though (small details) * The Chicken fried rice served together with the Wagyu. Do not get my wrong, it is tasty too, but having it together with Wagyu, I could not finish it eventually. Personally I am not a fan of having rice together with steam * The desert: Sazanka pancake (Dorayaki, one my favorite sweets, I love red bean paste ) the Japanese ice cream served with it is Matcha icecream. Personally, I do not like dessert to be too sweet, so leave the syrup aside. The Dorayaki is perfect with Matcha together * Extra: we also got an extra dessert on the house for the Congratulation

I had a great time here. The food is delicious and it's so fun seeing it cooked in front of you. It's very pricey but if you can afford it, it's definitely worth it.

We were present on Saturday, October 21, 2023 to celebrate a 25-year anniversary. We had some wonderful moments and were able to capture wonderful memories. Nice meal Top service at a high level 👌🏽 Sazanka team thank you again🙏🏽

Best Teppanyaki we found so far in Europe, food is excellent and the staff are extremely welcoming. Good job Cody and Kaori. So bad that the restaurant wont open on wednesday and we are not able to revisit before we left Amsterdam!

The service is top-notch like all the Hotel Okura restaurants. It is a bit slow if you are a fast-eater. We spent about 2.5 hours for the entire night. The chef was great, but did not have the usual flair and shows like in other Teppanyaki places.

I was on vacation and went to your restaurant and got super sick afterwards. My vacation was over then . I wanted to talk to someone to address the issues without doing a poor review because . It maybe was a bad day for me and also I saw someone else having food act reaction in front of us while having a dinner . We actually have it recorded ! Now I'm really upset because I took my time to even call when I was still in Amsterdam left all my info nobody cared to email or call me to follow up. Lovely teppanyaki.. A place to go...

Unique ! We went there as a family with our grown children and everyone was dazzled. Yes it’s expensive and we don’t do this every day but the service, the unique dishes, the quality of the ingredients and the culinary show make it really worth it. What a meal! We will remember it for a long time. We took the classic menu which allows you to taste the restaurant's specialties. A piece of advice should be given at the start of the service. Tables for 8 people. There were 4 of us and it wasn't a problem.

Top quality food and service. The decor and atmosphere are relaxing and fun. One of us had the classic menu and the other had the seasonal and both were excellent. The staff were so friendly and efficient too. We had a fantastic time here and will be back to try some of the other restaurants here.

Best Japanese in Amsterdam if you ask me. They bake the food in front of you, and the Sake pairing is absolutely amazing.

Perfect Service, high Quality of food, one of the best Restaurants in town

If you like Teppanyaki, this is a great choice. Doubly so, as there aren't that many of them to be found in Europe. The chef cooks everything in front of you which precision and skill. The experience feels quite Japan-like, with both the chef and the waitress assigned to your table making sure everything is fine. The menu is long and consistently good, but the star of the show is the Wagyu beef, which is amazing. Price wise it's at Michelin-star level. Not unexpected, but that's something to keep in mind.

Amazing food, we ordered a la carte bc the tasting menu seemed to be too much food for us. We ordered the lobster as an appetizer, then waygu sirloin as a main course with mushrooms and broccoli and veggie fried rice. Highly recommend it. Our chef Rito was amazing and so meticulous! We really enjoyed watching his focus while cooking. Truly an artist. Love this place and will definitely come back.

This was one of the most memorable dinners we’ve ever had. Every aspect of the evening was perfect. First, we were welcomed warmly, and then left in the very capable hands of Sakie, who was attentive and charming. We decided to go for the classic menu, and were very glad we did. Our chef was Rina, and she was fantastic; the food was spectacularly good and beautifully cooked. In addition to being very tasty, this is food as theatre too, and we were thoroughly entertained. Yes, it was expensive, but the quality of the ingredients and the service we received made it worthwhile. Many thanks to all the staff, but especially to Sakie and Rina, for a wonderful evening.

Wir haben das Omaka genommen und es war ein sehr leckeres Menü! Tolle Show auch vor dem Koch zu sitzen und bei der Zubereitung zuzugucken. Einzigartig in Europa! Dazu sehr herzlicher japanischer Service und eine authentische japanische Atmosphäre. Ein perfekter Abend!

As a first time guest of this fine-dining experience i can tell it was quite a positive experience. We were a small group of 4, and took the seasonal with Wagyu upgrade and the wine tasting. The sommelier explained the wine experiences and what all the taste notes were and did a fantastic job. You could tell she was very experienced. The staff is very calm and do anything for your experience at sazanka. Ofcourse it's not the cheapest dinner but it is the only Michelin star teppanyaki restaurant in Europa so it makes sense. This is not like any other teppanyaki where the quality is low and the show is big. This is very good quality with a very mellow environment. Calm and collective. Our Chef Riku was very good in what he did and had this very calm atmosphere around him. Would recommend 5/5.

It’s the best tapanyaki service I’ve ever experienced. And I do have tried a lot before. They do deserve the Michael star. Do recommend it even for Japanese cuisine lovers. One more issue. If you a big company of 10. Do ask the chef Yuska to cook. She is amazing!

Wow einfach ein tolles Erlebnis Auch wenn der Preis relativ hoch ist lohnt sich jeder Cent Waren 3 mal in Amsterdam und waren 3 mal in dem Restaurant. Das Essen das Ambiente ist echt super und es lohnt sich ein Besuch dort Auch wenn man zu viel getrunken hat kann auch gleich im Hotel schlafen

Dinner night with work colleagues, what an experience, of course the Japanese etiquette and friendliness to the top, very helpful and focused but relaxed staff, Nice space, great atmosphere, easy to get there, Thursday evening was a bit empty when we arrived but after a few minutes it got really busy, I mean we were alone in the beginning the six of us and later this poor guy was cooking simultaneously for three more couples... and still next level attention to the smallest details of food presentation for all dishes being prepare AND explained on front of you... If you are in town, for an especial occasion and looking for a real cooking experience... this is it. Thank you guys, I wish I remember the name of our chef, very nice guy.
