A lovely Turkish restaurant in Amsterdam. Update: We came back after 3 years, and once again enjoyed a pleasant meal and received friendly service.

Good food and a nice sitting area. Overall, we enjoyed the food. However, I feel the ordering process could be improved. We were asked to place our order right at the door before we had a chance to sit down or even look at the menu. Being asked to decide what to order at the entrance can feel a little rushed, especially when visiting for the first time. I would suggest that the restaurant allow customers to sit down first, review the menu, and then place their order comfortably. I hope the owner will consider changing this policy, as it would make the dining experience much more welcoming and enjoyable.

The Adana kebab was delicious, freshly prepared and very well grilled. The portion was generous and filling, and everything tasted great. Service was quick and efficient, although a friendly smile would have made the experience even better. Overall, a very good halal Turkish meal in Amsterdam, and I would happily return.

Very delicious soup indeed for enrty. Then, mixed grill is awesome as well as Baklava. Do not forget to ask Turkish tea after your meal... The owner is very kind person as well. Ask him Niğde Gazozu and push him to bring :)

The place seems nice and the big doner on the grill looks impressive, but the food really isn't. I ordered a sis kebap wrap for 15€ and left hungry. The portion was small and in my opinion greatly overpriced for what is was. The meat is not made fresh either, it's just heated up from a big pile of meat that is who knows how old.

Amazing place to eat, great service! The wraps are delicious, as well as the baklava dessert.

Where do these good reviews come from? You go for a kebab and instead of lamb, you get fried luncheon meat. It's been ages since someone fooled me like that. It's a disaster.

Excellent experience at Sefa Restaurant! I received a very warm welcome upon arrival. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely take the time to chat with customers, which is much appreciated. The service was also quick, and the dish was beautifully presented with a generous portion. The quality was excellent, and the prices are quite reasonable for Amsterdam. Amsterdam is a stroke of luck. While it's very difficult to find halal, filling, and delicious food around here, this establishment we stumbled upon was a lifesaver. We came back two days in a row. The people are also very hospitable... We highly recommend it.

To much salad and badly sauce in the falafel

Very good meat and sauces to choose from. At the tables, you can pour as much sauce as you like. I recommend the kebab in a bun; the bun is delicious.

You get more salad than doner kebab in your sandwich. Go eat somewhere else.

If you like tomatoes, salad, and onions, this is the place to go! But I'm still looking for the meat! In short, a tourist trap.

I sampled the lamb shawarma, and it was exceptionally delicious, accompanied by fries and a beverage. AYHAN graciously provided complimentary Turkish tea.

I can't say the food was very delicious. The salad was stale and soggy. The portions were large. We would have preferred to at least be able to have tea and receive a warmer welcome in a Turkish restaurant.

We went there because the reviews said the staff were friendly and the food was delicious, but I didn't see a single smile on my face, neither upon arrival nor departure. The meatballs were undercooked and we asked them to cook them again. The chicken doner kebab was cold and tasteless, probably pre-cut and prepared. Despite all this, the prices were expensive.

Very nice owner, the doner meat and the other dishes are highly recommended. You can eat there without hesitation. The best doner sauce, just like it used to be.

Yesterday, we walked into this Turkish restaurant with a group of friends. From the very beginning, the service was dramatically bad. We had to wait for more than 20 minutes without anyone approaching us. There were two employees inside who completely ignored us and were totally uninterested. No one came to take our orders. Two of us needed to use the restroom and were told that non-customers have to pay €2 per toilet visit. At that point, we had had enough and decided to leave and go to another restaurant. Only when we were actually walking away did the owner come running after us for that €2. He started shouting and threatening us. Truly pathetic and unprofessional. Due to his own poor service, he missed out on at least €150 in revenue from our group that evening. This is not hospitality; this is pure rip-off with a bad attitude on top of it. Stay far away from this restaurant. There are plenty of better places where you *are* treated normally.

The best swarma I've ever eaten. And I always order it when I travel because it's one of my favorite dishes. The one at Sefa in Amsterdam is exceptional. Tender, juicy lamb with a fantastic original seasoning. Simply the best!

We, four friends, were utterly disappointed at this restaurant, which we specifically chose because it's a Turkish restaurant. After our meal, they offered us tea, and we said we could have three. When we paid the bill, they charged us 9 euros for three teas. Of course, it's understandable that they shouldn't be free, but charging 9 euros for three teas was completely unethical. Considering that coffee costs 4 euros in cafes, 3 euros for a single tea is pure robbery. Furthermore, the restaurant had an extremely strong toilet smell.

They are being rude to customers, and despite us being Turkish and expecting a more friendly atmosphere, they are scolding us as if we haven't paid for the service. I will report this to all relevant authorities and share this with everyone.

The food was delicious, and there was a good selection of sauces available at the table. The restaurant is solidly furnished – the only drawback was the toilet, which was unfortunately completely wet.

I arrived here on Monday for a 3-day Amsterdam adventure, and this is the only restaurant I went to for food. It's a great place with the best Turkish food, both in terms of taste and price, and excellent service. Recep abi was very helpful in every way; we thank him very much :)

The Turkish tea that was served was priceless.

Everything was wonderful. We visited every day during our three-day holiday from Turkey. The soups were legendary; we satisfied our hunger in the best way possible there. I think anyone coming from Turkey who doesn't visit misses out on a lot. We thank Recep abi for his extra attention and care; everything was perfect. It's definitely recommended; you absolutely must go, and since it's one of the rare places where you can also find tea, you might not want to leave :)

We came to get döner kebab and wanted to use the restroom beforehand. Even though the waiter was Turkish, he made it a problem for us to use the restroom. He said we had to buy two döner kebabs so two people could use the restroom. We bought them since we were there for döner, but that attitude was terrible. I won't even go near that place again. A person shouldn't treat anyone like that, not even their own citizen.

A horrid reflection of Turkish hospitality, and bad representation of our great cuisine. The chicken döner was extremely dry and that accompanied with unfriendly service… wouldn’t recommend.

I came from Izmir for work and sat down to eat döner (Turkish kebab). The waiter came to my table and said he wanted to pay in advance. I've traveled all over Europe and Asia, and apart from self-service establishments, I've never encountered a business that would ask for payment first. I paid the fee, but the chicken was definitely not chicken döner; the sin is on their own heads. This is the first time I've ever encountered something like this, and I'm very upset. Why do Turkish businesses treat Turks so badly? Why don't they adopt the food culture of the country they're assimilating into?

Not a good place and not good customer service. Mold in the broodje kip, I speak fluent Dutch, and told the manager and his colleague calmly that there Turkish bread had several green spots, and the managers both started screaming at us. The fact that you treat a diabetic mother and younger child like this is insane. Especially on Eid claiming to be Muslim. Avoid at all costs. En voor de groter team: doe normaal met jouw klantservice. Slecht kwaliteit is niet mijn probleem.

If you’re Malaysian and hunting for good halal food in Amsterdam, you should totally check out Sefa Restaurant 👀🇳🇱✨ I ordered the chicken döner with rice, lamb sandwich, and chicken sandwich — and honestly, everything was really sedap. The portions were HUGE too. One meal can easily fill up one person, so the prices actually feel pretty worth it for Amsterdam standards. Big plus point: the restaurant is HALAL ✅ which made finding food so much easier during the trip. The staff were super friendly too, and they told us they’re from Istanbul, which made the whole place feel even more authentic. Their sauces seriously deserve a shoutout because they were SO good: * Red Hot Samurai sauce 🌶️ * Spicy Hot Algerienne sauce 🔥 * Spicy Andalouse sauce 😮‍💨 All three made the food even more flavourful. The restaurant is clean, air-conditioned, and has 3 floors, so there’s plenty of seating. Even the toilets were clean and had bidets (Malaysians know why this is important HAHAHA). Toilets are only for paying customers though. Another nice thing is the location — it’s super near the Anne Frank Museum, so it’s a really convenient stop after sightseeing. Overall: good food, halal, big portions, friendly staff, and definitely Malaysian-approved 👍 Would totally come back again!

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We repeated our order three times to make sure everything was clear, yet it still arrived wrong—and on top of that, items were missing. To make things worse, the food was served in a broken dish, which is completely unacceptable. The staff were also rude which made the whole experience even more frustrating. Overall, this was a very poor experience. Between the incorrect order, missing items, broken dishware, and unprofessional staff, I definitely would not recommend this place.

It's a matter of taste... Doner kebab, lamb chop, burger, and lentil soup... The lentil soup was the best; I'd eat that again. Nothing else. We went because of the reviews, but to be honest, we were disappointed.
