A slice of cake and a chocolate brownie for over 9 euros, the quality was fine, nothing special. Too expensive for what you get; Fort Nine is at least as expensive, but at least you get your money's worth.

The pastries and sandwiches are delicious, but nine times out of ten, the crusts are burnt. They really need to figure out a solution for that, because it doesn't look appealing and it's unhealthy. Unfortunately, I can't upload a photo.

The bulle was really not good: very dry and lacking in flavor—not Nordic-style worthy, I was a bit disappointed… The coffee is fine :)

Selma's little Swedish bakery in Amsterdam has made up their mind on who’s right in the complex conflict in the Middle East and now has their staff parading around the shop with little Palestinian flags. Pity if you maybe don’t wanna pick a side or are affected by this conflict or have ties to the other side, you might feel a bit irritated or unwelcome here now. I live in the neighbourhood and this is the closest place to get coffee, but there are so many other good cafes in the area that I recommend checking out :)

Cute little place and very Dog-friendly. Great food, not too many choices, but good ones. Even though it's on a busy road, it's a great place to be.

I went there today because of the good reviews to try the cinnamon bun for breakfast. It was very disappointing because it was super dry and definitely not recommended. I'll go for the coffee because it was very good last time, but the food leaves a lot to be desired.

The best cinnamon and cardamom bulle!!! Even better when fresh out of the oven. The taste of the Stookers coffee beans is good, but quality depends on the barrista. Nice terrace to sit outside in West. In city centre only take away.

Nice little cafe, ☕️ good coffee that’s well made. Tried a vegan banana bread…. I know it’s vegan but it wasn’t good, it tasted of flower and raw oats and the consistency was very dry. Just letting you know! I’ll try the normal one next time 🙃

Selma’s has a great ambiance and amazing buns!! I highly recommend you try all the flavours - I miss the blueberry one though! And the staff is super sweet, the Danish girl always makes my day better.

Pretty nice bakery and breakfast place! It has Nordic specialties, as cardamom, pistacchio and cinnamon buns. I took the chocolate cake but I’ll also try the pistacchio buns. The place inside is pretty, staff is young and smiley! It’s a bit outside the center so I’d recommend trying this place if you live nearby or pass by this neighbourhood.

An absolute gem! I stayed near here during my work trip in amsterdam and ate breakfast here multiple times. All the grilled sandwiches were excellent (my husband and i worked our way through every single one and you can’t go wrong), the cakes / pastries were amazing and the coffee was australian standard (legit). But the best thing was the service - everyone was super kind and friendly and always made for such a lovely atmosphere in the morning. Immaculate cozy vibes.

The service of the blond lady with short hair (guessing it’s the owner) is extremely unfriendly. No thank you and no smile whatsoever, which made me feel very unwelcome here. It’s a shame, because the place looks cozy. Coffee was average.

We have ordered quiche, sandwich (just mit cheese) and croissant. They were all pretty delicious. The quality was also obvious. Service and staff were also pretty fine. Recommended.

I’ve been a regular guest for a long time because I live nearby. I went there at least 3 times a week. They have fantastic pistachio bun and tuna melt on the menu. But I won’t go there again because of some unfriendly employees. Even though I always try to be nice to the staff, I always leave a tip, but also I’d like to feel like I’m welcome there. The lady who served me had a hard time even saying hello to me, then she just threw my order on the table without taking the dirty plates from it, without saying enjoy your meal, without smiling once. She looked like she hated her job and people in general. In my experience there is only one barista who is always in a good mood and does her job professionally. A girl with curls but I’m not lucky enough to always being served by her. Personally for me the service is more important than food. There is plenty places nearby where I can have my coffee and feel welcome.

Super cozy place, they have very tasty pastries and the croissant with egg and avocado is really great. The staff is very sweet and the super sweet cat that walks around tops it off :) The coffee is also of good quality

You think: what a cute, hip, nice place that Amsterdam is so rich in, they probably have a nice breakfast, despite the usual absurd prices and small portions! WRONG! It's better to eat the sole of your own shoe than get a sandwich here. The rye bread was clearly from the last century and the croissant looked more like a cardboard box than bread. And then the chai latte. Or well… that's what it was supposed to represent. This creation would take a little longer, about 10 minutes. Then you quickly think, that must be a very good one. NOTHING could be further from the truth. I don't know what kind of hipster super sheep's milk was in it, but it was just a glass of watery "milk" with some cinnamon on top. Then you wonder what happened in those 10 minutes? Is the sheep/cow/soy plant still behind? This was truly the worst attempt at Chai Latte I have EVER had. But the waitress was cute, so see you next time

Average food and coffee and bad customer service. Sure, didn't appreciate how I got told that laptops were not allowed on Friday. Didn't appreciate how I have been told and hearing It After I ordered and After i spent 5 minutes setting up and started working. Also i Sat there cause someone else was there with the laptop open when i got in.

Stopped by the other day for coffee and a pastry. Lovely cozy cafe. Busy but a nice turnover as well and lovely people working there. The cinnamon twist was very well made, not too sweet as many others are. Coffee was okay. I prefer my cappuccino a little stronger, so I’ll ask for a double shot next time. Today, I picked up a TooGoodTooGo with 2 cardamom twists and 2 cinnamon twists. I ate ALL of them, one after the other 😂 What a steal! See you soon

Lovely atmosphere and there was an adorable cat to keep you company. They have blankets if you’re cold and I saw some people working. So might be a good remote working spot. I’m sure I’ll be corrected if not!

What an utterly charming gem of a shop! You know when you hear about a darling Dutch experience? Well Selmas 100% embodies that notion! Even standing outside, one can not only see the outstanding offerings but can actually feel the awesome vibes emanating from within. This place makes you smile and feel nice inside. The pastries are magnificent and that cardamom bun now lives rent-free in my head and heart 💜 The service is wonderful. Really good people work here- you can feel the heart and soul of the employees as regulars stop in and enjoy light banter. Just such a nice place to be! They had an interesting array of brewing items for sale and an intriguing looking oat-milk too also for sale. They also have an amazing looking vegan option too 🌱 If I were a local, I’d be a regular 💜 Selma uses a local Amsterdam-based coffee roaster called Stooker which they perfect on a gorgeous Lamarzocco ☕️ Overall, it doesn’t get more perfect than this 🥰

After moving here from Sweden, I had cravings for some simple “kanelbullar”, cinnamon buns. But…where to start? The cardamon buns at this cafe freaked me out by their pale color. With the thought of “no one could fail with "kladdkaka", I ordered the "kladdkaka" instead. well, it surprised me again with its wrong consistency, extremely sweet and faint chocolate flavor. For anyone who has been to any Scandinavian country you know what I'm talking about. Even any homemade cinnamon bun in Sweden would taste and look 100 times better than these. It's amazing that this cafe got through all these years with these products.

Het klopt wat Miljuschka zegt: de beste kanelbulle van Amsterdam. En de sandwiches zijn ook geweldig! En de koffie ook. En de medewerkers ook. En het interieur ook.

Selma's is a cozy Scandinavian spot in West. Authentic pastries, cheesy grilled cheeses, and good specialty coffee. Warm atmosphere, friendly staff. A must-visit, especially if your Danish girlfriend loves it!

September 2023 A good Scandinavian style bakery. They have other 'goodies' than the other Bakeries in town. Also a nice terrace when weather permits.

I’m from the states and I would fly back to Amsterdam just to get their almond croissant again. It was the best I’ve ever had, in my whole life.

The service here has really gone down hill The moment it gets a little packed (talking more than 5 people) the staff either forgets you exist, doesn't look at you or forgets your order. This is the fourth time I've walked out with half an order missing in 4 months I'm done giving these guys a chance

Bought a croissant for 2,50 Ridiculous price ofcourse, also because it's probably the same as the AH across the street. But hey when your hungry.. taste was like one from AH. Other sandwiches also have hipster prices, around 8 euros. Looked ok if it was for 4 euros. Also they don't want cash. Although it's legal tender. They did make an exception for me because I had it in the correct amount. Yeah yeah for safety bla bla. Better take your business across the street to the turkish bakkery left from used products.

Not rating for food. Just took an espresso, that wasn't on level. Too much water and not the right amount, not hot enough, too many bubbles as seen on the picture and the taste wasn't delicate.

Nice spot to get a vegan cinnamon roll, vegan banana bread, and vegan grilled veggie sandwich with levain, roasted courgette and red pepper, homemade pesto, vegan cheese option. Cute black cat named Leah is wandering around the cafe ❤️

Cute coffee place/bakery. They definitely go big on the Scandinavian sweets such as cardamom & cinnamon rolls. Service was a bit slow, and we had to go ask back for items we'd already ordered and paid for but unfortunately weren't delivered. Can happen, and there was no difficulty in us getting the missing items.

Food is undeniably good but service is the worst. We ordered 3 different simple dishes (cold sandwich, grilled sandwich and a soup) and they all arrived at different times, which is very annoying when you are in a group. Also waited more than 30 minutes to receive the soup of the day and didn’t receive a single “sorry for the delay”. On top of that the waitresses didn’t even know what were the ingredients of the home made bottled smoothie, didn’t smile once and were unbelievably slow as if not bothered whatsoever. Last but not least the coffee was burnt and the cappuccino was one of the worst I’ve ever ordered. Overhyped place, do not recommend.

Estuvimos en Selma's una hermosa mañana de domingo. Hemos pedido nuestra comida y 40 minutos después vino la camarera y dijo que habían perdido el papel con nuestros pedidos. Hemos pedido de nuevo y nos dijeron que estará listo en 10 minutos. Después de 20 minutos de pedir la segunda vez, todos los demás en el restaurante comieron y todavía estábamos esperando. Fuimos a la caja registradora y cancelamos nuestro pedido. Dijeron que recién empezaron a cocinarlo. También nos hicieron pagar los zumos de naranja. Nos hicieron esperar 1 hora sin ningún motivo y ni siquiera fue un día lleno de gente. El interior del restaurante estaba completamente vacío. Tuvimos que cruzar la calle y comprar comida preparada de AH ya que este lugar no sirve comida en absoluto. Qué frustración un domingo por la mañana.

Selma's es mi opción número uno para un café donde puedo comer comida casera, deliciosa y de calidad, sentirme como en casa en su ambiente acogedor, ser atendida con amabilidad y rapidez y siempre salir con una deliciosa pastelería para la mañana siguiente. Selma's es definitivamente mi opción número uno para cualquier reunión de almuerzo, pero también es genial trabajar en la computadora portátil (y todo lo que viene con ella: cafés interminables, tres pasteles, ¡observar a la gente y escuchar a escondidas!). Si no has estado, ¿qué estás esperando? !

Fui allí para apoyar un negocio nórdico, pero terminé escribiendo una mala crítica. Interior: feo y absolutamente aburrido en la terraza interior y exterior frente a una calle relativamente transitada. Hay una serie de lugares maravillosos en el barrio, pruébalos. Tal vez usted sea de Escandinavia y haya perdido su hogar: el personal no hablaba ningún idioma del norte, la decoración era inexistente, los bollos de canela tradicionales tenían un sabor viejo y parecían estar sentados en ellos x) Vamos, esta es una pasta muy fácil de hacer Y difícil de arruinar. Este no es el lugar en el que entra si es sueco / finlandés / noruego y dice ah, conozco todos estos pasteles / productos, me siento como en casa y, aparte de eso, ¿por qué visitar? Ruido: fui una mañana de fin de semana para reunirme con un amigo y echar un vistazo a una presentación en la que estábamos trabajando para una gran conferencia. Había tres chicas en el mostrador. Si bien no nos molestaron, sonaron un poco ruidosos y comentaron a los antiguos clientes principalmente su apariencia, etc. Durante todo el tiempo que estuvimos trabajando en silencio, fue un poco molesto y me convencieron de que no quería pasar otra mañana allí. .
