Sencha Lunchstore in Centrum

The service was super friendly, albeit a little confused. We had to wait over 30 minutes for coffee and cake, even though the café wasn't very busy. The gluten-free cake was inedible, as was the iced matcha, which tasted of seaweed and fish. The regular coffee was very weak. However, the lemonade was very tasty. The ambiance is a matter of taste. However, the café was too dirty for my taste (dead flies everywhere; the upholstery was covered in stains and crumbs), and it smelled strongly of perfume, which is somehow inappropriate for a café. We wouldn't recommend it if you want coffee and cake. We didn't eat any hot food there.

The place is messy, the staff pays no attention to customers, and has no eye for detail, such as clearing away full trays and ensuring our guests are served. They hide behind the busy schedule, but they themselves planned our high tea. The tea is messy and difficult to prepare, with few flavors, and only one flavor profile. The toilet is wet, dirty, and the trash can is overflowing. Never coming back.

The food was good, lots of vegetarian options. The coffee was also good. The table was a bit crooked, but they can forgive that. Much of the decor around the café was for sale. You could buy a picture frame, statue, etc. Nice addition.

What a lovely spot for lunch! I had lunch here with some friends. There was a nice cozy atmosphere and the food was very tasty. The prices were not too expensive and the staff was very friendly. I will definitely come back here, it was very nice. What a great tent!

We came across this cafe by chance and had breakfast here. Dogs are allowed, which is definitely a plus. The food tasted very good and came quite quickly, despite the café being full. The service was good. All in all, a good address for a relaxed café in Alkmaar.

What a discovery! We picked up delicious vegan cakes from Sencha, and they were really delicious. Everything was super fresh, beautifully presented and made with care. What made us extra happy: they have vegan whipped cream! That's a really big plus, because you don't come across that often! We would certainly like to come back again, and not just for the cakes. We are also very curious about what it is like to have lunch there on location. That's definitely on our list for next time! Happy with the amount of vegan options!

We really liked Sencha. It's in the city center of Alkmaar, so great to combine with some sightseeing or shopping. We had a specific brunch menu that they divided over three high tea trays according to dietary wishes - gluten-free, vegetarian and regular. From the savory sandwiches to the various sweets, everything was customized. And very tasty. Definitely recommended.

Nice coffee and delicious cakes

Nice place, both from the inside and outside. Nicely decorated, and a good atmosphere. Waiters were friendly, and the food and drinks came soon to the table. The fruit juice was really nice (containing lots of red fruits), but the pita vegan rendang was really weird and disappointing. Vegetables were oké, but the rendang was soggy and tasted weird. Couldn't taste the coconut, and the vegan rendang was really wet. Tasted like it wasn't freshly made (hopefully I don't get food poisoning). The bread was good. I've eaten dozens of rendang in my life (both vegan as with meat), and this was, unfortunately, the worst I've ever eaten. The sweets from the bakery looked really good, but I wasn't hungry anymore after this bas tasting food.

We received very friendly service. The coffee, cappuccino, and peanut brownie were all delicious. Overall, we enjoyed the food, but since we've eaten at vegan cafés like this many times before, this one wasn't particularly outstanding for us, hence only the 4 stars. Despite that, as a vegan, you can order a lot from the menu here, expect friendly service, and we would definitely recommend it as a vegan option in Alkmaar!

First helped by a friendly woman. Then we wanted to order something more from another colleague, but there was miscommunication, which meant we received the wrong thing. We indicated that we meant something different, and she threw the bowl down and was annoyed. From this moment on she takes money from the cash register and gives it to me without saying anything. We note that the order is still incorrect and that too much was taken. We mentioned this again and I think this was the final straw for her. Finally she takes the remaining money from the cash register and gives it, without any communication. Of course it was resolved in the end, but this could have been done without this attitude.

Lovely place if you want to sit and eat. Takes allergens into account very carefully.

all the waiters talking eachother behind the desk, we waiting almost 1 hr for our order to pick up: chicken brioge (I asked the red cabbage to be served a part, and it wasnt) and my girlfriend asked for a brie flatbread, she got a regular cheese flatbread. it took around 40min for our order to be served. about the place, I know its kind of "vintage / industrial" but it really needs a clean up! about the prices, its way to high comparing to the quality and service

Cozy coffee place with both indoor and outdoor seating area. There is a big collection of cake with vegan and gluten free options. The white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was super tasty. The Coffee was solid, but unfortunately the service took very long although the place did not seem to be busy at the time.

Delicious high tea with very fine tea blends

On a Saturday afternoon we had a coffee here with something tasty. Quality of the coffee and pastries was good. It was very busy and therefore it took a very long time before we could order. After ordering, we had to wait more than half an hour for the coffee to be delivered. Conclusion: nice place but not recommended when it is busy.

Might want to check on your waitress yesterday at noon. Seriously?????!

The Turkish Vegan Pizza was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. I highly recommend trying it. The food in general was fresh & nicely prepared. I also loved the ambience of the place.

Went there two times and both were great. My friend is veggie and amazing options for her (the vegan feta is amazing). We had the high tea once and it was really worth it. Almost all items were perfect. Cute atmosphere too. Really recommend this place!

I leaned on the table and then all the drinks on the table fell over. A cocoa and a tea, we are very sorry again. The staff helped us straight away and was very friendly. They even brought us new tea and cocoa, even though it was my fault. Very tasty food and super nice staff. Thank you

Absolutely wonderful café decorated with great attention to detail! There are nice sayings and other things to discover in every corner. There is a large selection of cakes and homemade quality. The cheesecakes were my favorite! The map is only in Dutch, additional English might be helpful. Definitely a place where you can make yourself comfortable for a little longer.

Uitgenodigd en het zag er leuk uit, bediening was niet verkeerd en hartelijk. De "koffie" van Giraffe mag geen koffie heten... slappe bak. Een puntje appelgebak met slagroom blijkt slechts een half puntje te zijn met vegan slagroom... mag je respecteren doch echte slagroom is een stuk smakelijker. De cinnamonrol met vanilleroom was echter lekker. Ook de gemberthee met honing was lekker.

What a nice experience, delicious food and great coffee (giraffe 😍😍😍) Wide choice of vegan and gluten-free options! Delicious pastries and "healthy" snacks, tasty sandwiches and all this in a nice casual environment.

The vegan kebab, the white chocolate cheesecake and the salted caramel latte are amazing!

The interior ist really nice. Food is at least not bad but the service is so outrageous slow that you won't believe it.

The main things I remember were how slow the service was and the amazingly wide selection of cakes.

It looks very nice and cozy and the pastries we saw were also great. We went there on recommendation because our son can only eat gluten and lactose-free. When we entered we chose a spot, then we had to wait quite a while and the people who came in after us were already helped. Then we thought we would take a pastry home with us, but we were not helped at the checkout either. So we left with 3 disappointed children, especially the eldest, who is only allowed gluten and lactose-free, was really looking forward to it. No more second time for us.

Had a delicious lunch at Sencha today. Good coffee, delicious carpaccio sandwich (on tasty gluten-free buns).. We had the soup of the day, also super tasty. And the poffertjes for our daughter. We actually came for cakes, but we took them home! Highly recommended!

It is a really nice place with very nice and welcoming staff. It is very close to the centre, making it a great spot. We ordered vegetarian dishes and they were delicious, we were very happy with the food and drinks. I would recommend it and would also like to visit it again.

Central location and cozy furnishings. If you park in the Singelgarage, it is only a short walk. The food is delicious! High tea is definitely recommended, you really get a lot! Friendly staff, great prices. Personally, I would only replace the salad with high tea, but otherwise really fantastic!

The cozy place in the center of Alkmaar which offers pleasant and attentive service. The coffee and smoothies are tasty, and there is a good selection of light snacks like sandwiches and salads. It's a decent spot to relax and have a bite to eat.

Nice lunch tent next to the Grote Kerk in Alkmaar. The menu is fantastic, there is so much choice! The Minced Sencha sandwich is highly recommended. And don't forget to check out the pastries inside :)

The food here is very good and the atmosphere pleasant. I have eaten lunch here several times but at breakfast a forty minute wait to get served and get food might suggest they are perhaps a little too laid back

Excellent lunch store. Price/quality is reasonable. This is not due to the quality of the coffee and food, but due to the high prices. Latte Macchiato is expensive at €4.25 but very tasty.

Had a lovely lunch here with gluten free options. Unfortunately had to wait more than 30 minutes for our food. When food was served it was very tasty and delicious! The windows definitely need to be open when they can as there was a really bad smell. As well as period blood on the toilet.

The buns were dry and tasteless. Also for the cake, dry and not fresh. Also really pricey.

Vroeger was je nog wel eens welkom voor slechts een snelle kop koffie maar nu wordt je letterlijk weggekeken. Super commercieel geworden, jammer want in de corona periode heb ik deze zaak zo hard gesteund. Tafeltje welke gereserveerd was voor 16.00 uur. Om 15.40 een kop koffie besteld en kort na bediening of ik, overigens zeer slechte cappuccino, veels te heet met ingezakte schuim, wilde gaan (15.50) want de gasten waren er. Onvriendelijk en niet serieus. Geen excuus en gewoon 4,40,- afrekenen. Nee, deze zaak is niet meer wat het geweest is. Onvriendelijk, fabriekswerk en kwalitatief minder dan voorheen…

It is a very cute place with very nice food, right across the large Laurens church. I like to go here for lunch, or for coffee. They offer very nice atypical cakes, also for takeout. It is always very busy and crowded in the narrow cafe, so service at your table might be slow. I always prefer to find a place to sit, and then order at the bar. I recommend the spicy cacao chai latte and the sencha meatloaf sandwich. Note that they also sell coffee beans, cards, cakes and even pieces of the furnishings!

Very cute, cozy café with an incredible selection of various (vegan) cakes, tarts… The cheesecake was one of the best I've ever had :) The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately there was no English/German menu.

Delicious coffee in a cozy place. Particularly suitable for smaller children, there are toys available. Tip, if you want to have lunch, a reservation is necessary. The coffee is from Giraffe, one of the better coffee roasters.

Met gezelschap op afgesproken tijd gearriveerd. Verbazingwekkend moest de high tea nog volledig bereid worden. Na 60 minuten kregen we een soepje. Voor die tijd enkel thee gedronken. Na 5 kwartier kwam eindelijk de etagères met alle hapjes. Ze lieten ons aardig aan ons lot over. Eten scoort een voldoende.Bediening scoort slecht. Geen enkele toelichting en uitleg over de hightea hapjes. Geen excuses over de trage bediening. Misschien hebben ze last van tekort personeel. Ik weet het niet. Omgeving en interieur erg leuk en sfeervol.

Sencha cake has been a household name in Alkmaar for a number of years. If you are looking for the most delicious cakes, I recommend you go to Sencha! The variety is endless and there is also a lot of choice for vegans. We ended up at Sencha last weekend for a baby shower. The high tea was really amazing. We enjoyed it immensely. The refilling of the tea was not kept up to date due to the lunch crowd, which meant that some of us were still thirsty afterwards, but it certainly did not detract from our experience, they were super friendly and were able to take into account all dietary requirements and allergies. the group.
