The tartare itself was well seasoned, but the portion was very small, served with only one thin piece of toast. For 16.50, a side of fries or some crispy fresh baguette would have been nice. Disappointing!!

Nice place, however, there was a problem with the lunch. I ordered a chicken thigh sandwich and it was very substandard. A sandwich costs about 15 euros and I got a small white bun with 5 small round slices of chicken, I think 50 grams of chicken. I eat lunch regularly and wherever I do, I eat a chicken sandwich. This was pricey and the most expensive of them all. I thought it tasted good, but you walk away still hungry. It was completely rubbish. I won't be coming back here and I advise everyone against it. There are many other much better places on that same street.

The name certainly doesn't do justice to this restaurant. Slow, seemingly uninterested service. A shame, once is enough.

We had a delicious meal with the six of us. The waiter was very enthusiastic, friendly, and full of jokes. He got a bowl of water for the dog. Definitely recommended for dining or drinking here.

I ordered a charcuterie board this afternoon and my husband and I found it to be quite small. I thought I'd take a look at your menu, and to my surprise, you forgot half of it: there was no Parma ham, no olives, no nuts, and no dry sausage. I find this downright scandalous; I still paid the full price. I hope you will do something about this; I am quite disappointed.

The menu is very limited and not always very good. That is a real shame for a location like this. Having a drink there is always very pleasant. But the awning, for example, is a picture of utter poverty. Every single piece has been torn loose from the others. And all the sofa cushions are so filthy they could make a new soup out of them. I will keep having my drinks there, and the occasional bite too, but I consider what I just mentioned to be a step backward.

We ordered drinks, and when they arrived, we wanted to order food. We were told the waiter would be here soon. We waited 30 minutes for the waiter, but he never arrived.

Nice spot by the water, had a delicious meal today, a tuna sandwich and, at my request, with toast. Generous portion and tasty coffee. I was also particularly happy with the new menu. I can't find my review from May; that was my first time here and it was less good because the menu was unclear and the staff didn't understand me. It's great to see that the menu has been adjusted accordingly! Very nice service today too! Great!

We visited here on a Tuesday afternoon hoping for a quiet moment to relax after some difficult news. We waited patiently for a riverside table to open up. As soon as it did, another customer rushed over and took it, even though we were clearly there first and we told them.that was initially offered to us. When we asked the staff for help, they completely dismissed our wait time and just told us to sit somewhere else, saying they "couldn't do anything." The lack of conflict resolution and fairness from the staff was deeply disappointing. Instead of relaxing, we left feeling incredibly stressed and unwelcome.

Very friendly service, but the menu is limited and the prices are high by German standards. However, the restaurant can hardly be blamed for that with 21% VAT.

The food was tasty and the place looked nice. The atmosphere could be a bit better, and my tip would be: where possible, discuss “difficult” customers and/or customer complaints inside behind the bar, rather than next to other customers. 😉

The food was fine, but unfortunately, there were a few downsides. First, everything moved very slowly; after the bread roll, it took fifteen minutes before we were even asked if we were “ready” for our ordered starters. About half an hour after the starter, we were asked if we were ready for the main course, which we eventually received an hour later; so we had to wait a very long time each time. Another downside is the restroom, which was very cramped. All in all, the food is fine, but the service is a bit lacking.

We dined with 6 people on Saturday the 25th. Unfortunately, it was not what we were used to from this restaurant. There was absolutely no attention paid to our table, despite repeatedly asking about our order. We sat down at 18:15, and after repeatedly asking for our bread beforehand and our food, we were finally served our lukewarm meal at 20:00. A big disappointment this time.

Formerly 5 stars, but not like it used to be. We had lunch today; we had 2 carpaccio sandwiches on 2 thin slices of bread. Previously, you got delicious rustic or sourdough bread. This was thin tiger bread, which didn't look fresh either. For the price charged, I really don't think this is acceptable. It used to be one of my favorite spots in Uithoorn. Unfortunately, the service isn't what it used to be either.

What a lovely place this is! I moved to Uithoorn a few months ago and this has really become my regular restaurant. A nice, relaxed atmosphere in a warm interior. The experienced staff is top-notch! These are professionals, but the youngsters doing it as a side job still have a bit to learn the ropes. The food is delicious, with great classics and surprising daily specials. Highly recommended!

The prices on the menu are not the prices that will appear on your receipt. There's a €0.80 difference per beer (menu: €6.20, receipt: €7.00). I inquired with the young man who was serving drinks and said he didn't know. Later that evening, the manager or owner came by to ask if I'd inquired about this and explained that the higher price was because hops are difficult to import from Ukraine, and that the brewer was therefore raising the prices significantly. Therefore, they can't maintain the prices on the menu. The next day, I looked up the suggested retail price for the beer in question, and it's around €2.75, not €7.00. All in all, it's fine to set your own prices, but make sure they match the previously stated prices and be honest about them. Charging a higher price later is misleading. I won't be coming here again.

Cozy Christmas brunch, nice location, beautiful, atmospheric decor. It's a shame the tiered cake came with both savory and sweet items, as it was certainly delicious!

We just ate here on Boxing Day. The starters and main courses were good, but there is room for improvement. One of us took a bottle of iced tea from a young boy who brought the drinks. Unfortunately, she hadn't noticed that she subsequently placed the bottle exactly in the middle of the tables facing each other, where the tables were uneven and had a runner over them. As a result, the bottle fell over and more than half of it spilled out before someone else picked it up and straightened it. The boy stood there but didn't ask if we wanted another bottle and didn't come back with a cloth either. We just covered the spot with napkins. When my husband ate the piece of hamburger that I couldn't finish myself, he discovered that mine had bacon on it. That wasn't on his hamburger, which he had already finished. The children's menu was incomplete. We pointed this out, but even in the second round, two items that were on the menu were still missing. By then, we were done asking again. We all found the dessert quite disappointing. The mini dollops of chocolate mousse were quite tasteless, the cheesecake fit on a knife tip, the gin tonic ice cream tasted chemical, and we found the hard, sickly sweet Christmas chocolates served with it to be a strange combination. The dessert as a whole felt haphazard and cheap. When we subsequently left after one of us had already paid for everything, a woman at the bar made a money gesture to a member of the staff and ‘whispered’ the question to him whether we had paid yet. That came across as quite unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. A shame. A good evening greeting did not follow either.

Wow, I don't think so! Door open, no one in sight, finally someone comes and angrily tells us they're not open yet. When we ask what time it is, the answer is: in 14 minutes... When we ask: can I use the restroom, the answer is... No! Fancy? NO!

Today for lunch, I had a Philly cheesesteak and fries. The food was very good. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The menu could perhaps be a bit more extensive, but I definitely recommend it!

We had a very tasty lunch and because ee had to wait for the kitchen to be open we also tried the apple pie and the carrot cake. Really nice!! Staff is super friendly and frequently checking everything was good. Lunch was ready really fast and food was to impress!! I want to come back soon!!

Informal, cozy, and friendly. Excellent food with generous portions. The restaurant terrace is excellent, but we weren't as impressed with the waterfront terrace because a large yacht blocked the view of the Amstel River.

Hoe is het toch mogelijk dat als je nagenoeg alles voor elkaar hebt, je patat serveert wat moddervet is en in een lullig klein mandje zit met allemaal kleine kruimels van oude patat wat al te lang in de pan heeft gezeten serveert. Patat kost nagenoeg niks. Zorg gewoon dat er genoeg is.

We went for a drink and a bite to eat. The menu is limited, both in terms of price and quality. It's a bit overpriced. The service is friendly. For drinks on the boulevard, it's fine. But for a truly elaborate meal, you'd be better off at another restaurant. Beware! You'll be sitting among people who smoke.

Today we were having drinks at sjiek aan de amstel. It's so lovely here... we love the waitress she has red hair and is called something like merlot. Her hair colour is the same as her name. She's a cutie. Furthermore the cocktails were really a big 10+. They were so good that we got a little drunk. Had a great time. We love everything here!! Greetings the drunk mothers<3

Very disappointing experience. We ordered a couple of beers at the table, but after 20 minutes, the waitress came back and said they never received our order. We then had to wait another 20 minutes because the restaurant was supposedly “busy”—even though most of the waitstaff were just standing around chatting with each other. Unfortunately, this felt like clear disorganization and poor service.

Been to Sjiek 3 times now and had a negative experience 3 times. The last time my girlfriend and I sat down at a table and were completely ignored. It wasn't busy so that wasn't the problem. The dirty things of the people in front of us were still there and were not cleaned up, while the empty tables around us were cleaned. We had been waiting for a long time and still no one came to ask what we wanted. At one point an acquaintance apparently came to sit down (judging by the exaggerated behavior of the staff), he was helped immediately and even got something to drink while we were not even allowed to order yet. Then we got up and sat down at Maak aan de Amstel where we could order within a minute and the service was great. So it can be done that way.

Food was ok but service was very slow. I asked menu several times and it took more than 15min to bring. Bringing food was also very slow.

My wife and I sat down on the sunny terrace at 11:50 today after a walk. We ordered 2 cappuccinos, a piece of apple pie and a toasted sandwich for my wife, she doesn't like sweets. The lady who served us firmly said that no sandwich could be ordered because lunch can only be ordered from 12:00. I was completely done with it right away. 10 minutes, really? At 11:55 the lunch order from the table next to us was taken. This was served at 12:05. At 12:15 the lady came back to our table to ask if we were still interested in a sandwich. Of course not, the cappuccino and apple pie were already gone. What incredible nonsense, this. We visit your terrace, we come to spend money with you, why this arrogant attitude and rules. Would it perhaps have been an idea to place the order for the sandwich at 11:50 and serve it at 12:00? We notice that after the Corona period, the catering industry in the Netherlands is doing much too well again. Money is being made like water again and we can be grateful that we are 'allowed' to use the terrace of Sjiek aan de Amstel and 'are allowed' to spend our money there. However, this was the last time. Next time we will visit a terrace where we will be welcomed with open arms and where we can simply order a sandwich at 11:50. Such a missed opportunity....

Mijn vrouw en ik gingen vandaag na een wandeling om 11:50 op het zonnige terras zitten. We bestelde 2 cappuccino een stukje appeltaart en een tosti voor mijn vrouw, zij houd niet zo van zoet. De dame die ons serveerde zei resoluut dat er geen tosti besteld kon worden omdat de lunch pas vanaf 12:00 besteld kan worden. Ik was er gelijk al helemaal klaar mee. 10 minuten, echt? Om 11:55 werd de lunchbestelling van de tafel naast ons opgenomen. Deze werd om 12:05 uitgeserveerd. Om 12:15 kwam de dame bij onze tafel terug om te vragen of we nog interesse hadden in een tosti. Uiteraard niet, de cappuccino en de appeltaart was immers al op. Wat een ongelofelijk geneuzel, dit. We bezoeken uw terras, we komen geld bij u uitgeven, waarom deze arrogante houding en regeltjes. Zou het wellicht een idee zijn geweest om de bestelling van de tosti wel te noteren om 11:50 en deze om 12:00 uit te serveren? We merken aan alles dat het na de Corona periode weer veel te goed gaat met de horeca in Nederland. Er wordt weer geld verdient als water en we mogen dankbaar zijn dat we van het terras van Sjiek aan de Amstel gebruik 'mogen' maken en daar ons geld 'mogen' uitgeven. Echter was dit de laatste keer. De volgende keer bezoeken we een terras waar we met open armen ontvangen worden, en waar we gewoon ook om 11:50 een tosti kunnen bestellen. Zo’n gemiste kans dit…..

Mijn schoonzus,die 83 jaar werd,had gereserveert voor een middagborrel voor 50 man,en zou blijven eten met haar familie van 20 personen.Alles besproken en in gevoerd op de I-pad.Op de datum van het feest wisten ze nergens van,de eerste gasten kregen te horen,hier is geen feest is,zal wel bij Geniet aan de Amstel zijn....paniek alom...zijn verhaal wezen halen bij de persoon die met ons het feest heeft besproken,die zei,ik weet nergens van,het zegt mijn niets...Gelukkig was er geen andere reservering voor deze dag,dus werd er snel een serveerster geregeld die de middag toch aangenaam maakte,en toch nog voor een bevredigend einde heeft gezorgd. Kijk,..iedereen maakt fouten,maar wat mijn het meeste stak is,dat je zou verwachten dat bij aankomst iedereen in de stress schiet,van hoe heeft dit kunnen gebeuren,en er meteen duizendmaal excuus word gemaakt voor deze fout...maar niets daar van...deden erg laconiek van "het zal wel"....wat denk je dat dat met een dame doet die 83 jaar word en er een leuke dag van wil maken. Na aanspreken van de eigenaresse,richting het einde van de middag,dat ze wel eens haar excuus mag maken aan mijn schoonzus heeft ze dat alsnog gedaan....maar het was wel een beetje mosterd na de maaltijd. Zelf hadden mijn vrouw en ik ook geen leuke ervaring bij deze zaak....gingen bespreken voor ons 50 jarig huwlijksfeest....serveerster zij dat de persoon die daar over ging niet aanwezig was ,maar dat hij contact met ons op zal nemen....moet nog bellen...feest maar ergens anders gevierd. Al met al zal de score voor deze zaak wat mijn betreft niet zo hoog uit vallen zoals jullie zullen begrijpen.

We had a Christmas brunch here. Everything was served on 1 platter, including dessert and Christmas wreaths. The food was really not tasty. The soup in tiny mini bowls of which not even half was filled, but worse still the soup was lukewarm. The puff pastry parcels were raw at the bottom and completely collapsed. Bread with a sweet cream, really not tasty. Salmon 1 tray for 5 people tasted as if it came from a can. I can't imagine that the chef tasted this. For the vegetarians there were a few pieces of undercooked pumpkin with the same orange sauce that was served with the duck. I'm not a dessert fan so I won't say anything about that. All in all, this one platter cost 212.50 euros. I'm totally fine with everything being more expensive at Christmas, but this is a real shame. We did not report it on the spot so as not to spoil our and your Christmas day.

We took part in the Pop Quiz with friends. It was a lot of fun but also quite difficult at times. Also ate here before the quiz. Steak and fries, very tasty. Good atmosphere. There were 27 teams that participated, so there was a lot of enthusiasm. We will participate again.
