The food is okay and the staff are very friendly. However, it’s not really designed for dining in, so takeaway is the better option. Avoid the chicken, as it’s sometimes not cooked properly and can feel undercooked. Portions are huge, which is perfect if you’re hungry.

Hello, I order often, and a total of three times they've forgotten my cutlery (fork). I often eat in the car, and it's difficult to eat without a fork. So, the fourth time I order, I add, "I want cutlery." Did you forget this the last time? I say this in a normal, soft voice so not every customer hears. This woman then says to me, "Check it immediately when you get your order." I didn't quite understand her with her broken Dutch and accent. I say, "What are you saying?" She mockingly says, "Check your cutlery when you get your food." I say, "I'll check it." Then she says something to her colleague in their native language, and they laugh at me. I was born here and used to visit them often. But this was the last time. They mockingly talk to a customer and belittle me, then tell my colleague this in their native language and laugh at me. I am not from yesterday, I always assume good things about people, but apparently you should not do that, especially not in Sranang

We were traveling from North America and came across this restaurant in Rotterdam when we caught a whiff of the most amazing aroma from the street. We decided to step in for takeout and we’re so glad we did! The owner was incredibly kind and patient, offering helpful recommendations even though we didn’t speak the language well. The food was absolutely delicious. This was our first time trying Surinamese cuisine and it reminded us of Cantonese cuisine in some ways but had its own richer, more savory depth of flavor. The mixed meat platter with fried rice was excellent: the chicken skin was perfectly crisp and not greasy, and the fried rice was fragrant with every grain separate. The portion was generous and very reasonably priced. We also tried the curry chicken bun. It was so soft, warm, and filled with beautifully seasoned chicken, it was so good we both exclaimed out loud! Even after bringing it back to our hotel, it tasted hearty and comforting. Thank you so much for the warm hospitality, we wish we could come back some time Soon!! I picked up a container of Nazi with satay on August 26th. When I got home, I started eating and found a very long hair in my Nazi. I immediately called and told them there was a hair in my Nazi and that I didn't live in Rotterdam. I spoke to someone, and they said, "That's a shame, but you can get a new container after three months." Today, October 4th, I went to pick up my Nazi with satay, and they told me they didn't know anything about it and couldn't help me. I found this completely unfriendly. I then said, "I'll post it on Google Reviews," and they said, "Yes, that's a must." I'll never go back to this place in Rotterdam.

Nieuwe Binnenweg in Rotterdam has become a new hotspot in recent years. After you've done your organic shopping, what could be more logical than treating yourself to a delicious lunch? "Gang in der Nähe" is Sranang, Surinamese festive food. The corn soup (plus a spicy sauce) with a pastry is my favorite. But the customers mainly come here for the "chicken curry sandwich," I hear from my seat at a round wooden table. "Man, I haven't had this as good as this on my travels." The customers are all shapes and sizes. Workers quickly double-park the van. Families with a baby in a stroller—the mother needs to eat well, right? This meal calls for a cup of coffee, and for that, you pop into La Zia Maria for a cup of Italian coffee.

I don't understand the good reviews about the food! The food is just awful! The satay sauce tastes like something from a Chinese chip shop! I don't understand why it's so busy there; aren't these people used to good food? I'm never going back!

The food was terrible! I have a Surinamese stepfather, and his mother cooked even better food than this on her deathbed! I don't understand how Surinamese people eat here! And I certainly don't understand how Surinamese people leave good reviews. Shame on you! Yuck, I feel sick too :( Awful aftertaste. Smoke it quickly.

I've been coming here for over 15 years, and I still believe they serve the best sandwiches! The chicken curry is my favorite, but the shrimp and tjap tjoy are also delicious and of good quality. The staff is fast and always polite and friendly. It's not a good location for driving, but that's true for the entire back road. Fortunately, there's plenty of parking around it, especially during the day.

What a fantastic place! Large portions and delicious flavors. I ate here in the winter, and I was already surprised at how fresh and flavorful the dishes were. The baka bana and nasi chicken satay are the best I've ever had. It's a shame it's an hour's drive for me, otherwise I'd be there three times a week. The food is served quickly.

Ordered for 35 euros, but there were no cutlery or napkins. Just because someone orders and picks up doesn't necessarily mean it's eaten at home. Again, a real shame. Looking at the sandwiches and baked bananas, you'd expect cutlery and napkins, wouldn't you?

Surinamese-Chinese food, you won't be thirsty after eating. Ask for the sauce on the side. The portions and the meat on it are very generous. Authentic flavor. Parking is limited, a short walk away. Paid parking is required. Friendly service.

Sranang is not like it used to be. Egg sandwich with "curry sauce" the authentic cooking style is no longer there with real herbs.

Paid in cash, but initially did not receive a receipt. I don't like that, everyone has to pay taxes in this country. I ate in the restaurant itself. On the receipt I also saw that a deposit was charged for my can of drink. But you won't get it back, when I asked, an employee said that I had to hand it in at Albert Heijn. Food wasn't too good either, better at King Foeng.

Yes man, Chinese-Surinamese food from Warung Srangang is really great! Especially that chicken curry roll—soft roll, well-seasoned chicken with that rich, creamy curry sauce and a bit of spice. That's just enjoyment. What is also really tasty at Srangang are their noodles and nasi with roasted chicken or moksi meti. Those flavors are always so well balanced, and the Surinamese twist makes it even better. Do you have any other favorites there?

Don't be discouraged when you arrive at the door. Just come in and order. I order a wantan soup and nasi Singapore. The lady asks: are you alone? Yes, I say. She answers: That's a lot for 1 person. I think: huh? Normally a starter and a main course? So I say: yes, go ahead. I should have done better not. A gigantic plate of fried rice, full of chicken and scampi. Half a liter of soup with 8 (!) large meat wantan balls. And tasty. I ate almost everything and am now writing this review in my hotel room with an overfull stomach. Next time in Rotterdam: same hotel, same restaurant

Tasty, fresh and not too expensive

Food is tasty, portions just smaller than average.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. There are a lot of interesting choices but I ended up going with the Moksie Metie Nasi Gerechten. This had fried rice as the base with meats of Cantonese Pork, Sweet Chinese Sausage, Fried Chicken and Fried Pork Belly. The Sausage had so much flavor, this is the one that surpised me the most. The Fried Pork Belly had really nice crispiness on the outside but soft on the inside, beautifully cooked and well done by Sranang. Overall one of the better Surinamese Chinese restaurants in Rotterdam.

We are going to enjoy the delicious food of Sranang on this Christmas day.

chicken curry chicken pieces are all rolled flat, clever of them so that it has more volume, baka banana were a lot but the inside was short, the top was good but as soon as you pierce through it all crust?! The worst part is the service, no one smiles, everyone is grumpy? and if you called half an hour in advance and you still have to wait another half hour for 1 chicken curry and 1 baka banana? always busy busy really don't know why people give 5 stars? isn't even worth 1 star?! my advice go to innnweg at tah wah... baka banana and, chicken curry much tastier.... Tah wah at delfshaven... #1 .. skip this bullshit place

It's always busy here, a good sign. Tip: order your food in advance so you don't have to stand in line. You can take away or eat in. I ate a shrimp sandwich with long beans, which was very tasty. I didn't like the bara with filling, tastes differ. I can't say anything about the rest yet.

Sranang has several branches in Rotterdam, I only knew the branch on the Kruiskade. Always good food, in terms of taste. Neat containers and well packed. A bit of shrinkage is noticeable because regular customers indicated that the content is less than before. Simply excellent food and a place to sit, it was very busy for takeaway for a Tuesday.

Unfortunately, they are not included here. If you have a disability and need an assistance dog, you are not welcome. Despite trying to explain, which eventually turned into a discussion, they did not understand that they are not allowed to refuse an assistance dog. We wanted to take their wishes into account and sit in a corner, but unfortunately they were not open to anything.

Lots of delicious food including little sandwiches. Each time there are lots of people collecting meals, possibility of eating on site (very small room). Parking space nearby (20 cents per 1/2 hour).

Ordered a chicken curry sandwich, a bacon sandwich and a nasi moksie metie for home. The chicken curry sandwich was absolutely not how it should be and the bacon was very dry. Once I got home I saw that they had given me a nasi chicken instead. A moksie metie, what a disappointment. I won't bother getting food there again.

Chicken curry tasty but Tai wah gets the job done better

Seems like a nice eatery, or perhaps a takeaway restaurant. We were in the mood for roti chicken. (we ordered chicken fillet). We ate in the diner. Management are very nice people. I guess they can cook well, considering the amount of people in line. But dear people, DO NOT buy or eat roti here if you are used to SURINAM cuisine. This roti did not taste like roti but like a piece of boiled chicken in a sweet, thickened sauce. The curry was neither garam massala, nor Hindustani curry nor masala, but it was whole, thick and yet watery in taste. The chicken fillet was not a chicken fillet but chopped and boiled chicken thigh and then briefly dipped in the Chinese sweet sauce. There was no structure. The chicken was unrecognizable. The pepper from Madam Sjanet was very tasty and the roti was filled with yellow peas and tasty, but I think I got it from the store and put it in the microwave.

I didn't like the roti chicken fillet. The chicken breast did not taste like chicken, and the sauce was a thick curry sauce that was nothing like what I am used to with roti. It was nice and busy, there is a toilet. The staff brought the food to the table.

If you eat Surinamese you have to eat with Javanese people. And not with the Chinese. Nasi is made from basmati rice. I think I still have some rice left so I can get some and eat it at work. But rice is so dry and tasteless the next day. I think it says enough. And you bring them money and pretend you're begging for their food. Never again.
