In addition to those delicious wheat/rye breads, I would like to emphasize the extra quality of the baguettes at city bakery As. I have never encountered such a pleasantly crispy crust on sourdough baguette before. Deliciously crispy, even after one pop in the oven... class!

The definition of a 'cycling shop' for me. The tender, crispy bread is worth the extra miles! After buying many loaves of bread here, I asked the baker if I could come by with my class of 9-year-olds to experience how a traditional bakery works. Not only did the As team welcome us, the baker also explained what the craft entails, showed the sourdough and let the children knead the dough themselves. You can feel that people work here with heart and soul. The fact that the shape and texture of the loaves varies is due to the fact that they are handmade. A wonderful company.

I don't understand why this bakery has good reviews. Expensive breads of no special quality. And they don't have a machine to cut the bread. Friendly service.

Besides the bread being absolutely delicious, the prices are fair and most importantly - the service is amazing (in a country where the service often sucks considerably). This bakery is on my way to work so I stop regularly to grab something - many times I arrived 10-15 minutes before opening and although I am willing to wait, they never let me wait outside more than a minute. Not to mention all people serving there are kind, smile and let you take your time to choose. The bread is delicious and sometimes they have cookies/rolls/cakes - also delicious!

Lots of really tasty bread for a very good price. It's a bit hidden. So you really need to know. They also sell delicious mustard and other delicious products. Parking is difficult. So come on your bike.

1482, Calais, a storm had just passed and merchant ships carrying goods for trade were docking after a short but turbulent journey from Hull, England. The sailor were weary, but they knew not to eat just yet, for only 3 days further along the coast, was a rather quaint but out of place community of fellow denizens of the north east of England. They called themselves The Men of Arse. The Men of Arse had formed a small but tight knit community within the flourishing yet still rather humble at this point town of Amsterdam. They didn't have much, for the British were not famed for their extravagance, but what little they were known for was what they then knew as Sœsagrol, which today we now know as Sausage Rolls. Whilst this community has since emulsified into the local character, no longer distinct from the local Dutch as the unstoppable force of entropy dictates for us all, they have left one small indelible mark upon the now great city of Amsterdam. These can be found at the bakery which still bears their name, that of As. Legend has it, the sausage rolls are better than those in all of England, but dont take my word for it, try one for yourself. But be warned, they are rare and special. Bring back the sausage rolls so I can try one thanks.

Delicious bread that tastes just a little better than in the supermarket. My experience is that it stays fresh longer. Last time I had a loaf of bread that clearly had too much salt added to it. What I also think is a shame is that the bakery does not have a cutting machine and you always have to cut the loaves yourself at home.

By far the best bread in town! There are few things that can make me as happy as a delicious fresh loaf of ash, topped with fresh cheese from the market and a little butter. And everyone is very sweet and kind! Great place!

Conclusion: picturesque bakery with beautiful bread/dairy products, although on the pricey side, but then you get what you want. Worth a visit. Small shop, with a terrace outside if you happen to have the sun. Tried a sandwich this week, very tasty. You are 8 bucks lighter and payment had to be made via QR code, because it must remain an experience. The audience: a mix of the average, the Groene Amsterdammer season ticket holders and the hipster who gets excited about (sour)dough.

Decent options to get bread as well as other sweet and savory snacks. They serve okay coffee too, although pricey.

Such a gorgeous bakery with freshly baked breads and pastries at a great price. The staff are lovely and recommended various products for me to try. My personal favourite was the spelt loaf - what a delicious bread! The coffees here were also top tier. If I lived closer I’d come every day!

Very tasty bread, the cappuccino was unfortunately very disappointing (we left it out) Hopefully a bad day. Otherwise great place.

The baguette is in my top 10 tastiest baguettes ever. In addition, the coffee here is also highly recommended. It's a pity that they often cannot handle the crowds on weekends, meaning people have to wait in line for a long time. If you have the patience for that, do it!

The small Stadsbakkerij As is really very nice, it is small, but everything is freshly baked and freshly topped - they don't say small but nice for nothing 😍👏👏👏 you can also eat your baguette in the bakery there, you only have one Bench to sit on was also enough. You could also eat your food outside as it was too cold and there was snow!! We were inside 😁of course there is fresh bread, baguette filled bauette, etc. At lunchtime there was also pizza fresh from the oven. You could tell that they really love baking 👏👏👏

Bread looks so good but olive baguette is toooooo salty. So I had to pick out kalamata olives from the bread. You should check taste before sell it.

Cute little store front, with fantastic quality products. The olive baguette was a personal favorite. Only outdoor seating but still very cozy.

Consistently excellent sourdough breads and sweet and savoury bites with no concessions in the quality. Cordial, relaxed and thoughtful service. The batard and the olive bread are favourites, the house butter 5*, variety of ferments and jams. Very good bread flour. Go early on Saturday, they sell out ☺️

Ganz tolles kleines Café mit frischem Brot tollen süßen Köstlichkeiten.

Dikke aanrader. Op een dinsdagochtend hier heerlijk belegde broodjes gegeten met koffie en een taartje in de zon op de bankjes buiten. Ontspannen sfeer en medewerker. Er is een verbouwing gaande op het terrein hiernaast, voor mij niet storend maar als je stilte wilt zou t kunnen storen. Roomboter kersentaartje was ongelofelijk lekker, niet te zoet, kon niet beter. Alles vol van smaak, hier komen we zeker terug.

Het áller állerlekkerste desembrood! Heb je geen beleg voor nodig zo heerlijk! Minstens 1x per week jezelf verwennen😋

Delectable baguette, and olive bread. It does cost a bit more than what I'm used to, but it's definitely worth the price. Especially if they have the small cheese bites, those are an easy recommend!

Op fietsafstand van het centrum/Centraal station ligt enigszins verscholen de Stadsbakkerij As. Mooie desembroden, heerlijke zoetigheden en de mogelijkheid om deze daar op het terras te nuttigen i.c.m. een koffie/thee of frisje. First come, first serve. Op = op. Worth the detour.

Het tarwe-roggebrood is onovertroffen zo lekker. Personeel ook immer erg aardig.

Very good bread and almost culinary sandwiches. Not always the easiest or cheapest choice for a quick luch, but always original. There can be a wait for the food to be prepared.

We komen hier al een tijdje. Altijd heerlijk knapperig desem brood. Goeie koffie (dat je op het terras kan opdrinken) Lekkere belegde baguettes. Zoete baksels. En ook nog een bescheiden selectie bijzondere (streek)producten in de koeling.

Smaakvol brood, al schommelt de kwaliteit een beetje. Het eerste olijfbrood dat ik kocht was van een mooie afmeting en erg lekker. De tweede keer was het iets minder lekker, er zaten ook een paar olijven in van mindere kwaliteit. Het derde brood was lekker, maar ongeveer half zo groot als het eerste. Ik zou daar niet over klagen als de prijzen realistisch waren, maar 5,25 (anno 2022) voor deze wisselende kwaliteit vind ik niet fraai. En op maandag is er geen brood. Dat kan natuurlijk, maar noem jezelf dan geen bakker. Bakkers hebben mijn diepe respect, het is een eervol beroep. Mensen rekenen op de bakker, ook op maandag. Op mij komt dit meer over als een hobbyclub. Al met al een zesje, ondanks het lekkere brood.

Zo fijn dat zij naar Oost zijn verhuisd! Eindelijk s'ochtends een heerlijk nootige kop koffie en de fianciers met miso zijn mhhhhhhhhhhh.

Leuk om deze verborgen bakkerij in de Czaar Peterbuurt op te zoeken. Wat maken ze heerlijke producten. Zowel hartig als zoet, ik heb er echt van genoten!

Best sourdough bread in Amsterdam, to that add their new concept food store and soon to re-open restaurant. "As" is back in business and we are happy to have this great dining and bakery in the coolest neighbour Czaar ...

Bij toeval zijn we hier terecht gekomen, aangezien we in west wonen. Het brood is geweldig! Het brood dat we kochten kwam net uit de oven. Lekker warm, smaakvol, super krokant, goed gevuld met noten en rozijnen. Hier komen we zeker terug. Wel goed voor de portemonnee dat we ver weg wonen 😉
