I always pop in here for a bite to eat. This time I sat inside in the small coffee area. The food wasn't good because the staff takes some of their food from the restaurant and some from the café, meaning customers were constantly sitting in a draft.

Everyone in Doetinchem knows it: if you don't know where to go, you go to Simons because it's so familiar and has a good location. But the people behind Simons apparently also know that people think this way, which is why I've noticed more and more in recent years that quality is being sacrificed for quantity. The staff is okay but not great, and the food isn't always great either; it sometimes feels a bit rushed. Still, 4 stars because it's always a pleasant atmosphere and I've been going there for years without any problems.

I love coming here, but I don't understand why the restrooms are always so dirty! Even at 11 a.m. They just haven't been cleaned. Yuck.

I sat there because it wasn't busy, now I know why. All the benches were shit on, and it just stays that way. Lukewarm Coke, no ice, but fruit pulp in the glass of the previous user, tasteless pulled pork sandwich. They must be day trippers who's there.

Haven't been here in a while. Prices have gone up considerably (understandable with recent inflation), but in my opinion, the quality has deteriorated. A shame.

The table was dirty and sticky and wasn't cleared. We then ordered fresh juice, but it wasn't fresh, as the staff claimed it had been since early morning (and it was a combination of fresh and canned). Half of our group received their food, and long after they'd finished it, the other half still hadn't received their order. The staff on the terrace were grumpy. In short, we won't be returning.

Wow, that was terrible. We ordered drinks without ice, and the ice came with fresh juice. It was probably partly fresh and partly cartoned, but I'm sure it wasn't fresh. Four people ordered food, two of whom had already finished it, and we finally asked for the other two. Two toasted sandwiches were fine, one waffle was slightly lukewarm, but it was okay when it was cold, so dry it was inedible, and one pancake was cold. A little later, we went to the restroom, which was absolutely awful and smelled yuck, yuck, and yuck. The tables outside weren't cleaned, and we had to ask for cutlery. We checked the neighbors', and it looked much better, so we'll sit there next time.

The sandwiches for lunch were surprisingly tasty and the portions were very generous.

We went spontaneous on a Friday evening. It was full but there are a lot of seats available. Service was friendly and fairly fast. The Burger served with fries tasted good even tho the bread was to soft for my taste. Schnitzel on the other hand was a bit though but tasty. They have chairs for children and even little cars where the kids can sit on. The table next to us still had straws and napkins on there from the guests that been there before us. It wasn't really dirty but these leftovers have not been cleaned up during the duration of our visit. We liked the location.

One of the busier restaurants in Doetinchem. Especially with the nice and warm weather, it is packed inside and certainly on the terrace. You may have to be patient before you get a spot... but just wait... The food is good... good portions and fair prices.... Are you shopping? Then stop for a moment and feed your inner self! Are you at home and hungry and don't feel like cooking? Jump in your car or on your bike and go visit them

Terrible staff. Bald anabolic doesn't look at anyone at the table when he explains everything. Then the lady who arrogantly and grumpily brings the drinks. Really terrible and never experienced it before. Food was also very disappointing and not worth repeating!

Toilets downstairs could look a bit cleaner and fresher/tidier. Not a calling card!

We had High Tea but that was a disgrace. Was very little and lettuce was wilted. No jam with the scones. Little choice in tea. And went home hungry

It is so busy here that the service cannot cope (long wait, tables not cleaned properly, forgotten to bring order, forgotten cutlery, but also just unfriendly). The terrace seems very chaotic, tables close together. Glasses not properly cleaned (served wet, with the pulp of the orange juice still on it: just not properly cleaned). In the summer a lot of wasps too, super annoying. Been a few times over the years, always disappointing.

I wanted to have a nice drink here tonight with a cake or ice cream, but unfortunately that was not possible. Of course it is not bad if the kitchen is closed but the way it was told I find downright absurd. It was a girl with dark hair, a hair clip and glasses. This girl came to ask us what we wanted to drink, I told her that I would like to order a smoothie to which I got a blunt no that is not possible. When I then wanted to ask if I could order a cake or ice cream I also got a curt answer that I could only order snacks, after which she immediately walked away and did not ask if we wanted to order something else instead of a cake. Of course it is not bad if something is not possible that is why it was a question, but the way it was told to us here I found really incredibly blunt.

Food is not good. The burger is overspiced especially for a kid to eat. Fries are below average.

Nice to have something to eat. Not too expensive/nicely priced. But this is an eatery: burgers, spare ribs, chicken satay, etc. just good, but don't expect the most culinary delights.

Super atmosphere! Small table, but the food was delicious. Due to the crowds, the drinks took a while. The food came earlier while ordered later. I thought the price was a bit on the high side. But all in all a sufficient score.

What really makes this place special are the cocktails. This is the first place in the Netherlands where I really liked them – perfectly mixed and full of flavour. In addition, the food was of excellent quality, freshly prepared and wonderfully presented. Whether you come for an extensive dinner or a drink, the quality remains consistent. Stadscafé Simons is a place where I will definitely return more often. The combination of good service, a cozy atmosphere and top quality food and drinks makes it a favorite.

Zaterdag eind van de middag op teras plaatsgenomen. Gezellig druk, vriendelijke bediening en spoedig geholpen. Ook toen we van tafel wisselde was datgeen probleem.. Vegetarische nacho's bij de borrel besteld. Die waren lekker, maar was wat fantasieloos naar mijn mening. Gesmolten kaas,gacumole,crème, en een pepertje. Ook hapje gegeten, dat was prima op smaak, en frietjes zijn bij te bestellen. Dessert kaart is heel veel keuze.. gekozen voor Dessert voor 2, dit was op verzoek voor 3 pers (was geen probleem goed op in gesprongen van personeel) Dessert was mooi verzorgd en lekker. Klein aandachtspunt. Als je zoveel verschillende desserts op kaart heb staan dan vind ik het Dessert om te delen wat simpel. Vanille-ijs, flensje en aarbeien. Kortom we hebben fijn gezeten en lekker gegeten. We komen zeker nog wel terug..

Went to dinner with some others yesterday. Service was not good, it all took a very long time. Friends of employees who kept walking in immediately had everyone's attention. People at the table had to wait a long time. We only got one dessert menu, which is difficult when there are five of you. Also eat moderately and especially little. I had the satay, two small skewers with barely 200 grams of dry meat. A little bit of sauce and a few chips. 22 euros. Bizarre. With five others we had one small bowl of salad and one small bowl of fries. We were able to order more, but by the time we finally had fries, the rest was already gone. We won't come here again.

At Stadscafé Simons the tables on the terrace are very close together. It is difficult to walk past the tables. After sitting for a while, we actually interact with the waiter. Only he doesn't come to us, but he helps all the people who speak to him first. Shame. The coke tastes great.

The management has a good eye on what is needed. They are friendly, adequate and smooth with everything. Good inquiry whether you would like to receive the next course immediately, ask in a timely manner whether it tastes good or whether additional supplements are needed. All 4 served at the same time and had a delicious meal. Not half a plate filled, enough of everything. Good price-quality ratio. Great place to go back to again. Parking within walking distance at the Pig Meadow for €4.- Cozy interior too, in short: very successful! Recommended!

I don't really like this place because of the slow service, but it is a very good bar. The bartender Alexandra served us quickly and made good cocktails, I give 1 point to the establishment and 4 points to Oleksandra

De pulled pork wrap is inderdaad belabberd. En is als omschreven door Edwin . Koud en grove stukken vlees , saus is er tussen gemikt .

Komen hier regelmatig, maar nu nooit meer. Super slechte ervaring bestellen wrap met pulled park. Krijgen deze koud geserveerd. Bij navraag is het antwoord van een beledigde bediende ja dat is de nieuwe kaart. Een wrap met pulled pork hoort warm geserveerd te worden. Het was trouwens ook geen pullen park maar klein gesneden shoarmavlees qua grootte.

When my partner and I arrived, we were allowed to choose our own seat. Most of the seats were not clean, so there wasn't much choice. We were helped immediately and had something to drink within 5 minutes. However, after waiting 35 minutes, beckoning someone several times and even waving at the waiter, we walked to the counter to pay instead of ordering a meal as we had planned. Very unfortunate.

High tea was zeer matig. Eerder daar high tea gehad. Toen oké. Nu weinig hapjes geen warme hapjes. droge scones. Grote ongezellige thermoskan op tafel.

Had a nice meal at Simons, the smoothies and waffles are also highly recommended. It was nice sitting outside, under the heater.

One part that is unfortunately missing from Google Review is 'plumbing'. As a customer, you should actually first look at the sanitary facilities and then decide whether or not to stay. Hopefully it is a snapshot, but on Wednesday evening 30.10 a visit to the men's toilet after a drink on the terrace turned out to be a rather shocking experience. A shame and hopefully an incident, but one to keep an eye on because clean sanitary facilities also say something about business operations!

Delicious food. We were a group of 29 and with a reservation this was no problem.

Lunch. Roast chicken. De kip had geen smaak. Het leek op tofu en smaakte daar ook naar. Gezegd dat het niet smaakte. Ze zei dat het voorgegaard wordt ingekocht en ter plekke gekruid. En liep weer weg. Bij het afrekenen, geen aanbod gekregen van de helft betalen of een tegoedbon o.i.d. Heel jammer.

We found hair in our food, which turned out to be from the chef. We didn't have to pay for the food but no apology was offered. Normally they received good help, but this was very disappointing.

We moesten anderhalf uur wachten om überhaupt de kans krijgen om iets te halen, we worden genegeerd door elke medewerker. Voelt als discriminatie. Ik eis gratis drankjes. Ook wil ik 12 bitterballen. Er wordt beloofd dat we konden bestellen na 5 min, maar uiteindelijk werd dit ter vergeefs vergeten/genegeerd. Trauma’s a Simons. Teleurstellend dit. Bij voorbaat dank. Mvg, ons.

Very good lunch with an extensive and diverse lunch menu (as is often the case) Great welcoming atmosphere inside. Everything was great up to and including departure. It's a bit of a shame that if you light a cigarette while walking at a distance of 50 cm between the street and the awning, you will have some arrogant guy standing in front of you to lecture you. Simons has quite a large, cozy terrace. The service is good. The staff are friendly and give you a lot of attention. We ordered Cornet, Bavaria 0.0 and bitterballen.

What was supposed to be a crispy schnitzel according to the menu, was in reality a soggy, greasy, tough piece of meat. The extra fries and salad ordered were forgotten by staff. Not recommended anymore.

Not what it used to be anymore. It has deteriorated very rapidly. You are crammed together on the terrace. It's too busy, which you notice from the hurried service. But you also notice it in the food. See the photo for reference. A few weeks ago I also received a meager sandwich; I thought it was a snapshot, but unfortunately not. We are looking for a new place to become a regular customer. I wouldn't be surprised if others follow suit if the quality continues to deteriorate so rapidly. Food is fine; tasty and affordable. However, the toilets should be cleaned more often; dirty mess… The washbasin in the men's toilet is really too small, causing the floor to become soaking wet. Furthermore, clean tables better; are often sticky and the menus are not always clean... So: great tent, but keep an eye on hygiene - it really can't be like that!!!!

Late lunch with a delicious cocktail and a meter of tasty treats, a compliment to the service who, despite the crowds on the terrace, had an excellent overview, was friendly, prompt and hospitable.

Wij hebben met Collega's een heerlijk High Tea bij Simons genoten. Geweldige hapjes (hartig en zoet) meer dan genoeg en veel variatie. Heel veel verse thee soorten. Geweldig geregeld. TOP !

We hebben heerlijk geborreld daar bij een meter borrelplank besteld was prima in orde Personeel zeer vriendelijk zien alles dat was uit de kunst Bij het toilet bezoek erg geschrokken zeer vies zo vies dat je niet eens kon gaan zitten de vloeren helemaal vol urine en bij 1 wc was de wc papier op en ook de handdoekjes dat was dus een erge tegenvaller juist omdat de rest zo goed was

Went to lunch with 5 people and 3 out of 5 became seriously ill. I'm not going to say that I'm 100% convinced that it was the lunch, but we still noticed it. So 3 of the 5 are sick. Vomiting, fever and diarrhea.

Drankje en 1/2 meter borrelplank besteld, dat klinkt simpel maar toch even een tour om de bediening naar je tafel te lokken. Maar was gelukt en de borrelhapjes waren lekker. Verder lekker terras vlakbij de kerk en vriendelijke bediening, die zich ook verontschuldigde voor het ontbreken van servetjes en prikkers. Al met al fijn terras, goed eten met een beetje aandacht van de bediening 4 sterren.

Fast service and atmosphere is good, sometimes you sit very close to each other on the terrace. Ordered a sausage platter with different types of sausage for €9.00, we received a tapas bowl full of the same cheap fuet balls... Our espresso martini was also served in a large wine glass, which of course should be in a martini glass...

Deteriorated a lot. Coffee on the terrace with an ice cream sandwich, it took a very long time for the coffee to arrive, the sandwich took even longer and the 2nd cup of coffee took forever, in addition to several people who complained about it. De high tea is lekker uitgebreid met zoet en hartige hapjes gemixed. Nu al 2x een high tea gehad hier en beide keren van hoge kwaliteit. Ook meermaals lekker gelunched. Prettige sfeer, bediening, mooi terras buiten. De bovenverdieping is wat krap met een grote groep, maar verder helemaal prima.

Very nice restaurant, atmosphere is actually perfect. Although the toilet is just filthy, there was a lot of water on the floor near the men and women, and the restaurant radiates that you pay for a better experience, which is correct in terms of price.

Had a delicious meal and drink today. There is a cozy atmosphere, friendly service and good portions of food for the price. There was still room available downstairs, and there was also room upstairs. In short, until next time!

Had a nice meal on a sunny Saturday. There are many friendly staff around. You will be served quickly. Music inside was very loud. Food was tasty!

Drinks tasted like alcohol, we did not order this. According to the waitress, this could be exchanged for something else at no cost. However, the owner decided that we had to pay for the other (unconsumed) drinks. Too bad there is no clear policy.
