The food was tasty. To my taste, everything could have been cooked a little longer. Nice restaurant, friendly staff.

The chateaubriand was truly fantastic with real peppercorn sauce. The dessert was also delicious. However, the vegetables (green beans) were mediocre and looked like canned vegetables. That could really be improved. Drinks are also quite pricey.

For the second time in a row I come to this place to have dinner around 8 pm and each time I hear: “The kitchen is closed, we are no longer serving (although the restaurant is officially open until 9:30 pm). So, I cannot judge either the food either the service. The question to the owners running the business is, Why then indicate a closing date that does not correspond to reality? Moreover, in "normal" restaurants food is served until the very closing of the catering establishment, even if it is 10 or 11 pm. Very disappointed of this place and cannot recommend it…

It has been the second time that I came here to eat and they told me they were closed. The first time, I arrived 30 minutes before the closing time and I was informed that they don’t take orders anymore. The second time, I arrived 1 hour and 10 minutes before closing, and the response was exactly the same. Overall, the food is good, but the person serving was a bit unfriendly. I would recommend the owner to just keep the place closed if they advertise opening from 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM but stop taking orders who knows how long before closing. There is no point in saying you’re open if customers can’t actually order food. It’s misleading and a complete waste of people’s time.

What a terrible restaurant. It started with the cocktails that ‘couldn’t be made due to being busy’ (there were 4 tables at the time), and later we saw that other guests were getting cocktails. The starter was good, then we were asked if we were ready for the main course. We indicated that we wanted to wait for that, and 5 minutes later we were asked again, to which we indicated once more that we wanted to wait. Nevertheless, the main course arrived, despite us indicating that we wanted to wait. My tenderloin was supposed to come with white bread and gravy, but that wasn't included, and my steak looked overcooked. For these reasons, I sent it back and it was made again. When I got it back, it was almost raw, and my peppercorn sauce (which I had had initially) was gone. The gravy wasn't gravy; it was the burnt fat in which the meat had been fried. The owner thought we were just complaining and that it wasn't his fault at all. He even shifted the blame onto his own employees, which is very unprofessional. It was impossible to have a normal conversation with him. We will not be returning here, and I advise new guests not to go here either. Meat in the City is a much better restaurant!

You would expect them to know how to prepare meat. But when you get cold meat that is then briefly warmed up in the microwave, followed by the manager making an inappropriate joke about it, I am certain I will never come back here. Especially since this was far from the only thing that went wrong.

€35 for grey, lukewarm beef tenderloin, with a few pathetic, cold, limp cooked green beans and asparagus. The bread basket beforehand had clearly been sliced ​​hours earlier; it was dried-out stale baguette. The menu only arrived after all the bread was gone and we had to ask for it ourselves. A complaint from our neighbors behind us about a misogynistic joke in the toilet was brushed off by the manager, after which he also made a dirty joke at our table about warming up cold meat by ‘sitting on it for fifteen minutes so it would be warm again’. He couldn't even manage an apology. The ladies on the terrace tried their very best and were very friendly, but unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the evening. I have done this work for years and know how tough it can be, but this was truly substandard. The menu was also full of spelling errors; that seems like an easy fix to me. This makes it look very unprofessional, which is a shame.

We thought we were going to have a nice meal after celebrating the 50th birthday of one of our friends, but almost everything went poorly 🥲 It started with a glass for cola that literally had a gigantic crack in it and a piece missing. Next, the wine bottle was opened with difficulty, and the waitress, who was really trying her very best, let a substantial piece of lead stick out of the rim (good wine, by the way) over which the wine was subsequently poured. A bit of a waste of your 32 euro bottle. Next, they forgot to give us the menu, and we had to ask for it ourselves. When the meat arrived, the bavette was cold on the outside and inside. No, not lukewarm, cold. Additionally, it wasn't rare but bleu, just like a friend's T-bone. The medium rare steak could barely be called medium either, unless you squinted your eyes considerably. Meat sent back (and literally for the first time in my life that I'm sending something back in a restaurant; normally I eat things with a smile on my face if they aren't good, but this was the umpteenth mistake, a line, AND REALLY COLD). The steak came back nice and warm, but suddenly on a scorching hot plate. It looked suspiciously like microwave cooking. A little later, the owner—who had just reacted very unprofessionally to a complaint from someone at the table next to us about the incredibly sexist and misogynistic toilet signage (bla for the men's toilet and blah blah blah la for the women's toilet)—came over to ask us if everything was to our liking. To my assurance that the meat was now nice and warm came the terribly misplaced "yeah, I sat on it for fifteen minutes and then it was warm again" joke. What a bad manager. I understand that his staff, despite visibly working incredibly hard, provide poor service. Too bad. We normally leave a generous tip. This was also one of the very few times there was no tip.

We had a lovely time at this place. Special mention to the waitress who did her best to ensure we could understand each other and who had a smile on her face throughout the evening. However, we were less than pleased to be served three beers from bottles that had expired more than three months prior… no gesture of goodwill was offered in return, only vague apologies from the waiter who seemed annoyed… The food, however, was very good and very well presented.

We had a delicious meal, with a wide selection on the menu. The service here is excellent. Unfortunately, we live far away and are only here for the weekend. Otherwise, we would be here regularly.

A super cozy restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal for two (or more, of course). The prices are good, and the quality is good. Unfortunately had a very disappointing experience tonight. I’ve always seen Steak at the Lake as a premium steak restaurant where I know it’s going to be a bit expensive but really good meat, however left feeling let down and a bit robbed at the high prices with low quality meat.. I took my children there as treat for the last days of the holiday, we ordered 4 ribeye steaks as ribeye is usually one of the best quality meats, that is suppose to be dry aged as well, however each steak had different levels of doneness, and noticeably difference in sizes.. The steaks were also fairly tough to cut and chew on, very little marbling in the meat suggesting low quality in meat being used. They now serve all dishes standard with fries and no options to choose from (I prefer the sweet potato fries) The meat was also not seasoned correctly, but this can be added on afterwards. I would not recommend going here anymore unfortunately 😢 This was my previous review: The housesteak was also a really great steak thats soft and tender however the flavour of the ribeye left my mouth watering for more. Unfortunately one star was lost because they removed the beacon from the potato salad in the recipe however did not change the menu accordingly..

What a fantastic experience! We ate here for Christmas and everything was just perfect. The food was truly delicious, clearly prepared with care and love. But the cocktails… wow 🤍 The Pornstar Martini was so fresh and perfectly balanced: wonderfully smooth, creamy, with a delicate vanilla flavor, truly next level. And then the white chocolate Pornstar Martini with strawberry… that was absolutely delicious. Seriously one of the best cocktails I've ever had. You can taste that everything is homemade, with fresh ingredients and attention to detail. That really makes the difference. In short: top food, top cocktails, top atmosphere. Absolutely recommended!

We often dine out with the family; it's truly our time together. We usually end up at Cannibale Royale, so we're quite picky. But Stake @ the Lake really surprised us in a positive way today. Everything was perfect. The food was fantastic: perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and clearly fresh. Even the side dishes, which are often an afterthought, were truly good and carefully crafted. The cocktails were delicious, original, and perfectly balanced. The service was friendly, relaxed, and professional. Yes, the wait was a bit longer, but we happily accept that when you know everything is fresh and homemade. And you can taste it. We genuinely enjoyed ourselves. This is the kind of place where you walk out with a big smile and think: we'll definitely be back. Compliments to the entire team! 👏🍸🥩

I have to say, it was more than quiet on a Saturday at 6:30 PM. That didn't bode well, but it's not good here. Other restaurants in the harbor basin are clearly busier. But then six of us sit down and eat a stake or the pork tenderloin satay. And those are actually quite good. The meal comes with nothing more than fries, but that's okay. The main course selection is sufficient; desserts could use a sorbet to broaden the selection a bit. The decor is nice, but the atmosphere, well, it's a bit too quiet for that. I hope they pull it off, but I don't think you can eat bread here.

Good restaurant where the customer comes first.

We come here regularly, and the food is consistently excellent. The meat is wonderfully tender and is clearly described on the menu. There's no children's menu, but you can request one. The daily fresh fish and special meat offers are also reiterated upon arrival. I had the bavette for the second time, and it was a real hit.

So you're going out to dinner with your birthday friend. A gin and tonic spills from the tray all over my birthday friend, and there was no compensation. It's really bad, because you don't want to be splashed with tonic during dinner, and it's not your fault. I've worked in hospitality for years and have never experienced this before. In every restaurant I've worked at, we would immediately offer a free drink or even a discount on the bill. Here, you could go home soaking wet. Bummer... once, never again.

Leuke locatie. Is echt in de haven. Veels te weinig personeel. Hadden broodje aioli besteld maar Helaas waren ze het voorgerecht vergeten. Want Hoofgerecht kwam er aan dus lieten we voorgerecht maar zitten. Ik had ossenhaas medium rare maar was echt veels te lang doorgebakken en super taai en droog zag er bijna wit grijs uit .vandaar dat dit moest het terug sturen. Anderen maar gaan eten anders word het koud. Meer dan 30 min later kwam mijn gerecht. En nu weer medium gebakken. Vond het vrij droog vlees. Voor een steak restaurant vind ik dit echt slecht. En daar betaal je dan €33 voor. Vandaaar de slechte review. Wij gaan hier niet meer eten

Steaks overcooked Spareribs dry Mussels gritty and crunchy, not rinsed properly

I love the Ribeye at Steak & the Lake. The waitress was very gentle and very nice view for relaxing but the owner didn't treat me well. He was rude. And I left the place with that inconvenience. Food is splendid! The Chef is very good!

After multiple times being here I came to a conclusion, the food is great, very nice. Except if you want something to change that is a no. However the service is very bad. The older man gave me the feeling that I should not be here. He was very rude.

Fantastic food and the dessert (waffle) was really a 10! And a fantastic pornstar martini.

De bediening, het eten, alles was gewoon TOP. Een grote aanrader als je een heerlijk stuk vlees op je bord wilt hebben. Ook het Glutenvrije eten daar is rekening mee gehouden. Wij gaan daar zeker naar terug.

Had a great evening and a delicious meal. Quality is paramount and that is very clear. Staff is friendly and customer-oriented. As a starter the gambas and beef tataki and together the Chateaubriand with pepper sauce all recommended carefully and lovingly prepared taste was excellent and meat was butter soft. Surroundings and view of the harbour added a lot to the total picture.

If you like tasty meat with a nice view of the harbor of Almere, then definitely go to Steak @ the Lake! Service was good and of course the meat (which is fresh from the butcher) was super tasty! The Liège waffle for dessert is also highly recommended!

We had dinner at Steak at the Lake for the first time tonight, and we will definitely do it again! The carpaccio is by far the tastiest I have eaten in Almere, my husband also had the beef tataki which was very tasty. Our main courses (tenderloin and a doubter with 3 types of steak) were also well prepared! There was a children's menu for our daughter and she immediately received colors and a coloring book, even though we had already brought everything with us. The service was also very spontaneous and super friendly! In short, great! We will definitely come back!

Voor de 1e keer hier gegeten. Na lang wachten kreeg ik de door mij bestelde spareribs. Wat een teleurstelling! Ik had gekozen voor een steakhouse omdat ik ervan uit ging dat men hier weet hoe spareribs bereid moeten worden: heerlijk gemarineerd en dat het vlees van het botje valt. Deze spareribs waren smakeloos en taai. Toen de serveerster vroeg of het gesmaakt had heb ik haar mijn mening eerlijk verteld. Ze reageerde dat ze het zou doorgeven aan de keuken. Verder geen reactie meer gekregen. Jammer maar dit steakhouse ga ik niet meer heen.

Nice girl who helped us, starter was fine, main course was less so, I had mussels but more than half of the mussels were closed. I reported this neatly, but there was no compensation or a nice cup of coffee. However, I had to pay for the entire dish even though more than half of the mussels had been sent back! It's a shame I won't be going here anymore

Our server was a bit strange. The waitress was really sweet to our daughter and the food was very tasty. The question of whether onions could be added to the schnitzel was answered in a really strange way by saying that there were no onions... Que? And there were other dishes that had onions in them, so that was a bit strange. But still highly recommended in a nice location.

Go for dinner on a Monday evening, other places are usually closed on Mondays. Fairly busy, but still able to find a nice spot, nice weather on the terrace. Had dinner there with four of us last night. Have eaten there many times. Good food and drinks. But what makes me so happy...the service! Last night I was served by a nice, friendly and pleasant young lady. And thought….thank goodness they still exist! 👍

Prijs kwaliteit is hier totaal zoek. Borden worden te snel weggehaald en drinkglas ook soms zit er nog gewoon wijn in je glas. Vlees was smaakloos. Ik denk als deze zaak zo doorgaat het binnenkort niet meer bestaat. Als in deze tijd zoveel lege plekken nog in je zaak hebt zegt dat genoeg denk ik. Ons zien ze hier niet meer.

Don't order the spareribs, they really weren't tasty. There's no taste to that. I also indicated this to the waiter, but there was no other option than sending it back to the kitchen. Others at the table had the house steak and bavette, which were tasty. The starters and desserts were also tasty. We spent 70 euros per person for 3 courses + several drinks.

Tenderloin is fine and you get a nice gravy with it. The garlic gravy is highly recommended. I think you just got fries with it, I don't know if we paid for that separately. We received 3 containers for the table. The ribeye was much appreciated, as were the spareribs. The chicken satay was good. 2 large skewers. Nice people, service sometimes a bit clumsy but probably not in service for very long. Overall very good food, but an associated quite expensive price.

Fijne 82e verjaardag / Happy 82nd birthday Om de verjaardag van mijn moeder te vieren hebben wij "Steak at the Lake" gekozen vanwege de reviews. Daar hebben wij spijt van als haren op ons hoofd! Bediening De bediening was onbeschoft. Op de vraag van mijn moeder waar de knoflook saus was die ze bij haar steak had besteld was het antwoord van de serveerster op een toon waar de honden geen brood van lusten: "Ik heb maar twee handjes, mevrouw!" in plaats van een "Die komt er nog aan mevrouw." Deze ervaring heeft de sfeer aan onze kant van de tafel flink verpest. De kleinkinderen hebben daar gelukkig niet veel van meegekregen. Deze ervaring heeft vervolgens weer consequenties gehad later bij het afruimen toen mijn moeder een serveerster verwarde met haar onbeschofte collega; de ervaring zat haar nog steeds dwars. Toen de serveerster vroeg of mijn moeder haar het bord kon aanreiken was haar repliek "Je had toch twee handen?!" Vervolgens was daar de reactie weer op "Mevrouw, ik ben zes maanden zwanger!" Eten Van de 10 personen uit ons gezelschap waren de steaks bij 8 personen voortreffelijk; vooral de ossenhaas. Bij twee, die de Rib-eye hadden besteld, mijn moeder en ik, een totale teleurstelling. Het vlees was lauw, het kwam uit een pan in plaats van van de grill, nogal miezerige stukjes vlees die nergens naar smaakten. Ik heb betere steak gehad in fabriekscafetaria's. De ervaring met de bediening was reden om ons zo snel mogelijk uit de voeten te maken. Dus nee, geen toetje, of koffie. Fijne 82e verjaardag ... Service The service was rude. When my mother asked where the garlic sauce she ordered with her steak was, the waitress replied in quite a snooty tone "I only have two hands, ma'am!" instead of a "It'll be here shortly, ma'am." This experience seriously ruined the atmosphere on our side of the table. This experience though had repercussions later during the clearing of the dishes, when my mother mistook a waitress for her rude colleague; the experience still bothered her deeply. When the waitress asked if my mother could hand her the plate, she fired back with "You had two hands, didn't you?!" The response to that again was "Ma'am, I'm six months pregnant!" Food Of the 10 people in our party, eight had good steaks; especially the tenderloin was deemed quite excellent. At two, who had ordered the Rib-eye, my mother and I, a total disappointment. The meat was lukewarm, it came from a pan instead of the grill, rather measly pieces of meat that tasted the way they looked. I've had better steak in factory-cafeterias in the Netherlands. Lekker eten, vriendelijk personeel, een garantie voor een fijne avond

Na deze recensie verwijderd te hebben plaats ik hem vandaag weer terug. Slecht vlees steak van €80 euro bij de bediening aangegeven. Maar werden niet serieus genomen. Erg jammer van zo een mooie zaak die ze producten zo serveert. Slecht hard droog en door bakken. Alles behalve medium Na aanleiding van deze recensie kreeg ik al snel een bericht van Max Palmer. Zei dat hij de eigenaar was en dit niet zo hoorde. Hij bood ons aan om gratis een nieuw stuk vlees te komen eten en de drankjes van hun. Maar dan moest ik wel de recensie verwijderen. Zo gezegd zo gedaan. 2 weken laten opnieuw gereserveerd en Max was erg vriendelijk. En bood ons wederom een mooi stukje vlees aan. Ik vertelde hem wel dat ik de recensie zou terug plaatsen als het weer tegen viel toen sloeg het gesprek om. En annuleerde hij de reserving.

Heerlijk gegeten, heel vriendelijk personeel. Vanavond mijn verjaardag hier gevierd en de bediening had dit onthouden. Bij het desert kwam een leuke fakkel en een liedje. Echt een aanrader.

Prima restaurant met goed eten. MInpunt is dat de prijzen op de menukaart en wat je afrekend niet matchen. Hier kwamen we pas thuis achter. Kipsaté op de kaart voor 22,-, afrekenen 19,95. Bavette op de kaart voor 28,-, afrekenen 31,-. 1,- verschil en niet erg, maar wel bijzonder..

Top het personeel heel vriendelijk

Tijdens havenfestival iets gedronken en gegeten. Na 20 min wachten konden wij de bestelling opnemen , toen weer 20 min gewacht terwijl er mensen later waren en eerder eten kregen. Broodje kroket brood oud en taai , kroket koud en sla niet vers. Gemeld bij bediening en als reactie oooo ok/ dat was het! wij slaan deze volgende keer even over.

Echt mega, mega lekker gegeten, mooi menu, super vlees en de bediening was ook vriendelijk

Heerlijk gegeten, prima service en leuke locatie. Wel wat prijziger.

Vanavond super lekker en gezellig gegeten bij Steak @ The Lake in de havenkom in Almere Haven. een mooie ambiance, sfeervol en met name de professionele en gastvriendelijke bediening verdienen een dikke 10. Onze Rib-eye en de Chateaubriand waren van grote klasse!! Dat de zaak helemaal vol zat had je bij de snelheid en bediening totaal geen last van. De keukenbrigade leverde prima werk en snelheid. Dank je wel Ad en je voortreffelijke team!
