The view is beautiful and the staff are friendly. However, the price is too high for the food you get.

We had soup and the beach snack for lunch. Tasty food, friendly service, and a good view. Dogs are allowed too.

Lovely beach pavilion on the beach on the outer dike, with a terrace and a direct view over the Wadden Sea, the boat to Vlieland, part of the harbor, and Harlingen in the distance. The atmosphere could hardly be better. The service is excellent, friendly, and helpful. The food is good, as it should be.

After calling a staff member, we were welcome to come and eat, despite the late hour. We were also politely informed about a birthday party, which meant we might have a less attractive spot to enjoy the sunset! Upon arrival, we were already received somewhat sadly, but there was plenty of room on the terrace. After we had ordered a drink and asked a friendly and helpful staff member for the menu, the hospitality changed. The nice staff member was sent away from our table by her manager. The manager told us with a steely face that, contrary to earlier assurances, we could ‘not’ stay for dinner after all. The fuses in the fuse box of the ‘kitchen area’ had all blown. We could, however, still order a selection of bar snacks... that is EXTRAORDINARY, because the kitchen did have power... We had little choice, so we left feeling hungry in search of a place where we would be welcome. We have never eaten anything so ‘salty’!

Lovely place to sit for a bit on the beach in Harlingen. The price-quality ratio is good. The food is usually delicious. Clean toilets.

We walked in and it was actually quite cozy. However, the person we spoke to did not speak Dutch and told us in English that we could take a seat somewhere. Once we picked out a table and waited for almost half an hour, no greeting, no hello, and completely ignored by the staff. Unfortunately, we left without a drink or a snack; I certainly won't be walking in here again next time.

We had a lovely lunch this afternoon after returning from Terschelling. It is located close to the harbor, so within a few minutes you can look back at the beach from the terrace or inside while getting off the boat and enjoying good food. Great value for money and friendly service.

Salmon disappointing on soggy stale bread. Tasteless. Plain croquettes with some mustard on stale, hard bread. Even without a tiny bit of lettuce. Very meager. Not recommended.

The beach bar truly impressed me. The location is simply unbeatable – right on the sea with a breathtaking view that I would gladly return to again. For that alone, it deserves a perfect 10/10. I ordered nachos, which were also tasty – a solid 8/10. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely delicious and perfect for a relaxing visit. What was especially lovely was being able to look directly out at the sea while eating and drinking. This atmosphere truly made the experience special.

We thought it was a really nice place! After walking the dog on the little beach, we went here for a drink and something to eat. The view was great and the service was very friendly! Definitely recommended.

Great location, delicious food and a beautiful view over part of Harlingen and the Wadden Sea.

I've been coming here for years, but there's been a change of staff now, and I have to reacquaint myself with the staff. The atmosphere feels a bit unfamiliar to me. I had a cappuccino with pumpkin spice syrup and fish and chips. I was charged €25.50 for it. The fish was a whole cod in batter. The meat was deliciously juicy, and the batter tasted faintly like oliebollen (Dutch doughnuts), which was a nice touch. The fries were too salty for me, so I only ate a few. The sauces (ravigot and mayo) were delicious, as was the salad with dressing. I brought the dog, and he got a small pot of water. The location is phenomenal; I'll definitely be back.

Nice cafe on top of the dike, in a beautiful spot on the Wadden Sea. Lovely view of the harbor and the incoming boats. Easily accessible for people with disabilities, but you do have to ignore a traffic sign.

Typical beach pavilion. We stopped by for coffee and cake, and the cake was really delicious, but really expensive! The beach was a stinking pile of mud from some kind of work, and therefore not a great view, but I guess it's different in high season.

Whenever we're back in our hometown of Harlingen, we always find ourselves at 't Zilt. We often enjoy a drink and the view, and the service is always friendly. The menu is a bit limited, and (too) often they can't provide something. What they do serve is good, though the portions are a bit small...but hey...in nice weather, sitting outside at this location is hard to beat...great.

It's lovely sitting there with a view of the sea. What's less pleasant is the English-only waitress.

Beautiful location! It's a shame that while we were seated, the staff were moving tables and chairs. It was uninviting and the kind of noise you'd rather avoid when enjoying a meal out. The food was decent. Not refined. The sauce was sloppy, which overpowered the starter. The salty salad with imitation crab is not recommended.

Just as my sister and I had ordered drinks, they had a glitch in the system, which meant the orders weren't going through. But in the end, we sat down and enjoyed a few beers.

Wonderfully located on the beach. The price is totally reasonable. I felt the service was a bit overwhelmed, as it took a bit longer.

We had a wonderful meal and sat on the terrace. Although the high chairs on the terrace aren't meant for long dinners, as they have a rim on overly large bottoms. The view was of the sea, and everything was delicious (for 4 people, 45 euros per person).

We had a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting with a stunning view of the Wadden Sea. The conservatory and terrace are lovely. We had a wide selection of dishes, including vegetarian options. Original and delicious salads. The service was prompt and attentive (the table was cleared twice, and an empty carafe of water was exchanged for a full one). Excellent value for money. Within walking distance of Harlingen (another great destination). We'll definitely be back!

This beach pavilion, 't Zilt, is beautifully situated, overlooking the Wadden Sea and close to Harlingen harbor. A view that many people found hard to resist, considering the crowds. The service is excellent, and we're soon enjoying coffee and pastries. It's excellent. In short, it's highly recommended, and we'll undoubtedly return for dinner, as the view looked fantastic. The Wadden Sea offers a pleasant spot to enjoy the wind, even if the temperature is a bit lower.

How can it suddenly be so bad? We've always had good experiences. New owner? We're going to give it another try; I can hardly believe it.

It's strange that you can't order ice cream at three o'clock on a beautiful summer day. Only during dinner. The restrooms could use some attention and hygiene. The smell is awful. It's a shame, a beautiful place, and I'm sure they could make a good living with a little more attention.

Nett gelegenes Lokal direkt am Strand von Harlingen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich😊. Aperol Spritz für 9,50€ - großes Glas, leider zu wenig Aperol, Prosecco schmeckte stark nach Holz - natürlich Geschmacksache :) außerdem gibt es kleine Snacks, Suppen und andere Gerichte.

Cozy and delicious food and drinks

For years, this has been our regular spot when we go for a weekend walk on the dike: drinks and/or lunch. Unfortunately, for the past few months, we've had the same experience as others here. It takes ages for someone to come and take an order. The staff seems to pretend they don't see you. Once your order (drinks) is taken and you ask for the menu, it also takes a long time to get it. And then you have to order lunch...? When people ask where their order is, it comes across as very clumsy when the staff tells them it's very busy (the terrace wasn't completely full, but a few tables in the new extension and inside the "old section" were occupied). What do you mean, busy? The real problem is: poor coordination, inexperienced staff, and above all, a shortage of staff. A solution could be QR codes on the tables.

The beach pavilion has been renovated and is now partially covered. It looks great.

After sitting for twenty minutes, we approached the waitress and asked if we would like to order drinks and food. The drinks arrived fifteen minutes later, and after an hour, still no food. We asked the waitress how long it would take. She knew what we had ordered, but the order hadn't been received by the kitchen.

Terrace packed and yet fast service as previously reported by others, nothing to complain about

We spontaneously stopped for lunch. Lovely, peaceful atmosphere. Simple menu, but excellent. The Tuna Melt sandwich was delicious. Beautiful unobstructed view of the mudflats, accompanied by the sounds of seagulls and other birds. Tip for the owner: invest in more parasols for shade on the terrace. Your guests were having a blast here this afternoon. I was lucky to have one of the few parasols above my table.

I was helped by a very nice young man. He immediately offered me a beer when I entered. Then this boy also came to sit with me to keep me company. It was a very pleasant experience. I will definitely come here more often.

As other reviews say: go here for the view. Not when you are hungry or thirsty. Took 45 min until we had a drink and another hour until the food was served. Food was also very poor and way too fatty. Nope, you won't see me here again.

Waited a long time before we could place our order while it was not busy. Then waited even longer but got nothing, the staff walks past you several times without looking up or around. We finally left again

Last Saturday I tried to have a drink here... After about 20 minutes I asked one of the staff members if we could order something. The people sitting at our table had arrived earlier and had not been able to place an order either. But anyway, I placed my order and 20 minutes later still nothing! When the couple next to us said that they had ordered 2 cokes more than 20 minutes ago, the waiter said that they had them specially made for them from the factory in America, so some patience was required. That was reason enough for me to leave. And then I read previous comments here and the service here has been terrible for a long time. Too bad, the location is beautiful and should definitely be worth a visit.

Really particularly bad food. Dry old bread as a breadboard with pesto, tapenade and mayonnaise as a dip?! Not to be messed with. 7.50 for three dr Oetker mini pizzas and black fried crispy chicken for the salad. Unbelievable. Service was very friendly but inexperienced. After almost leaving everything in complete (except for the mini pizzas) they didn't ask about the experience anymore.

We were here for lunch in the afternoon. They offered the lunch menu. We went to the new section, where you have a great view of the sea. The tables and benches are fine. And it was easy to get to the spot with two strollers. Unfortunately, everything was sandy. Sticky and dirty. The restrooms were too. Service took a while, even though there were plenty of waiters on site. Annoyed by all this, we ordered sandwiches and a children's portion of kibbeling. We were very surprised, because the food was delicious. We can't explain why the service was so slow. There are parking spaces behind the dike. Accessible only via stairs. From the town, you can also get there on a paved path at ground level.

Nice location, but you have to do a lot to order something to eat or drink and then a lot of patience. Bad communication, there is no logic or anything. And this while they were not full for a long time. For us no second time.

The place is lovely but you have to make a lot of effort to order and then also wait at least half an hour for the drinks. We looked up the menu online because we didn't get it after we asked for it. The service doesn't seem to see the seriousness of the many people waiting and walks around at their leisure. The food was otherwise fine!

Nevertheless, we decided to take a seat and ordered a drink. We also wanted to eat something, but it took a very long time before the waiter came to us. When we finally got a menu we still hadn't received our drink. The slow and disinterested service made us feel unwelcome. Finally we decided to leave.

Heerlijk gegeten op een prachtige plek aan het water! Ze hebben net een nieuw terras aangelegd. Personeel is vriendelijk en het eten de shortrib en de zalm waren super! Voor een strandtent gewoon een goed restaurant met lekker eten!!

Helaas teleurstellend bezoek. De locatie is fraai maar voor de rest moet je niet bij zilt zijn. De bediening is erg druk vooral met zichzelf. Ze staan kletsend aan de bar met rug naar gasten toe, nemen tijd om zelf te gaan eten op spitsuur en zitten uitgebreid aan stamtafel op een laptop terwijl gasten niet bediend worden. Duurt lang voordat je eindelijk de aandacht kunt krijgen. Vervolgens vraag je om menu kaart en die wordt niet gebracht. Weer wachten. Uiteindelijk besteld, thee, taartje en een soep. Nadat we al lang de de thee en mijn man zijn taart op hadden was mijn soep nog niet gekomen. We zijn toen maar opgestapt. Bij afrekenen stond natuurlijk de soep op de bon. We zeiden die is niet gekomen. Oh werd gezegd en zonder verdere excuses of wat dan ook werd de soep eraf getrokken en hebben we betaald. Wat een vreselijke onprofessionele gang van zaken. Als ze geld willen verdienen met deze tent zou ik eerst zorgen om de boel op orde te brengen en wat beter personeel op te leiden. Ons zien ze niet meer terug.

We like to come here from Amsterdam to enjoy the Wadden Sea, the sea, the view and the food. But today, on the terrace, someone was sitting at a table opposite us, watching television on his mobile. Without earphones. 1.5 hours of non-stop football. Of course we had just ordered. The staff was fine with it under the motto that this is everyone's own responsibility. Apparently it is not the staff's responsibility to protect other guests from such inconvenience. Shame.

Nice and cozy beach pavilion. The food was of very good quality. And also enough. Reservations are recommended on a sunny day. Otherwise there is a good chance that there will be no room.

I say no, service is sweet but messy. Waited an hour for fish and chips. And the fish was pretty tasteless. The dough had the taste of wet cardboard. The chips were great.

Nope. Not in good order. The order in which food is served is completely random, which means that people (including us) wait hours for food that is too simple. Wine after the meal. We suspect not fresh but frozen fish. Top fries. But that was it. Location provides the 2 stars. Although that is not the tent itself but the sea.
