Sumo isn't what it once was. The food is fine, but the atmosphere is gone.

Christmas diner, we placed reservations yet there was such a long line at the door, we had waited 45 minutes and just decided to sit down at an open table that was left untouched for half an hour. After forcefully seating ourselves, we used the tablet to place our orders, we only got 20% of the food we ordered each round and it took 10 minutes just to get 1 piece of our order. Upon notifying the waiters about our dissatisfaction, all we got back is that they are overloaded. We just left after round 3, we received little to no food and still paid the full price. I know it was a busy day, but if this is the first impression I get from Sumo, it will also be the last.

Hardly anyone spoke Dutch in this restaurant. Ordered dishes were just slammed down on the table, and when you asked what it was, well, I don't know. Absolutely no service or friendliness, and that for a hefty price. Never again.

The food is delicious, the service is excellent, though it can sometimes be a bit slow, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The decor is beautiful with the cherry blossoms, but you do have to deal with crowds, and there can be a lot of people chatting here.

Hadn't been here for a while, forgot how good the food was. Its served quickly and efficiently, tastes good and the staff is very friendly.

I had made a reservation and when we arrived, no one approached us. We stood there for a moment, but then we went to someone ourselves and were asked to find a seat. They then explained that we could each order five dishes per round. Then, we ordered three rounds, and half of each round didn't arrive. I mentioned it, and some things did arrive, but others still didn't, so we didn't get what we ordered. After that, I thought the least we could do was offer a small discount, but we still paid full price for three rounds, and we only received half of what we ordered.

Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. There was a lot of sauce (mayo, etc.) everywhere, and the sushi wasn't fresh. It's a shame, because I used to enjoy coming here.

Some maki rolls are 4 pieces, others are 2 pieces, even if it's vegetarian. Portion sizes are small. You can't order ice cream whenever you'd like via tablet. I was mid bite, but my plate was taken 40 mins from closing without discussion; it was my last round with 3 pieces left. Also, earlier in the session, my beer was quickly taken before I finished it. We had to request wasabi and ginger.

Very nice staff and a lovely atmosphere

The food was terrible. The shrimp sushi was ice cold and not freshly made. The chicken was very dry, and the quality was poor. We sent it back. Unfortunately, nothing was done about it, and no solution was offered. This was the last time I'll eat here.

I've never been there, always order from home. It's the only sushi in Arnhem that is actually good, and the prices are amazing.

I've been coming here for years, and for me, it remains the best sushi restaurant in Arnhem. The premium menu is highly recommended, and the staff is always friendly.

Sumo has been around for years, but this was the first time I'd eaten à la carte there. I didn't even know they offered it. We ordered a sushi menu, teriyaki chicken with fried noodles, and two drinks. For €35 for the two of us, we went home full and satisfied. It was a delicious meal.

The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and we received our food quickly. I was there on a Saturday when it was quite busy and everything went smoothly.

All you can eat—they're not even allowed to use that slogan! A maximum of 5 rounds, a maximum of 5 credits per person per round, and 1 dessert costs 5 credits (so 1 full round). First and last time.

The sushi was awful, not fresh, and the hot food: some had strange sauces and others were inedible. Some salads had unusually spicy sauces, absolutely disgusting. The rice was very mushy, absolutely not good. The worst part of the day: I got a stomachache and threw up. The food wasn't fresh at all, and I was very dissatisfied.

Very tasty and quick sushi. Ordering was easy via a tablet, and it arrived at the table in just under 10 minutes. Very tasty. I highly recommend it. Delivery to your home or vacation apartment was also quick and easy.

Beautiful interior with Japanese vibes — sakura blossom trees, warm Asian-style lamps, and a calm, welcoming ambiance. Great variety of vegetarian options (I had only veg) — fried rice, noodles, spring rolls, teriyaki mushrooms, poke bowl (holy tofu) — all tasted amazing and full of flavour. Service is fast (under 10 minutes!), staff are friendly and polite, and there’s also a nice outdoor seating area. Prices are reasonable — not cheap, not expensive, just right. Kid-friendly, but I wouldn’t recommend bringing children unless they’re well-behaved, as the atmosphere is quite serene. Would definitely return if I’m in the area!

Food super good, I write this because after 2 hours we could not order anything on the tablet. This is of course not correct because we had not yet reached the end time. Very strange we would like to see improvement in this, again food was good.

Disgrace. Booked for 2 people, had the unlimited premium all in at €113,- for 2. After 10 minutes we got our drink and right after that 1 piece of sushi (from the entire order). Then immediately ordered the 2nd round with new drinks. Nothing of it. After 25 minutes, 1 drink and 1 piece of sushi they asked if it had gone through, other tables around us all got food and drinks and had come in after us. Staff does not understand you, is difficult to understand themselves. We got the response that we could leave the drink... In other words, we could go. We had a delicious meal here before and enjoyed this deal. But now it was really not okay. People came to sit next to us with 2 large dogs, not assistance dogs, regular dogs, I am allergic. They were sitting so close that I was really bothered by it and did not feel comfortable with it. They did not listen to that either. So we decided to take our money and leave. Looking for another sushi place. Even though we had a nice meal here before, I don't know if we will come back. A real disgrace!

Today we made a reservation for 2. Upon arrival there was little space, which can happen on a busy day. But after 20 minutes and already able to order for the 3rd round. We only had 1 drink (we waited 10 minutes for the second) and both 1 piece of sushi. I understand that days like these are busier. But then don't let more people in. In addition, the people who came in after us were helped better and earlier. We had taken the unlimited food and drinks premium. Should have paid €113,-. But after half an hour and a complaint we left in consultation. Truly a disgrace

We arrived at closing time, but despite this, we were happy, they brought us sushi very quickly. The sushi was very tasty. I liked this place, the only thing missing in the ladies’ room was the coziness of the toilet room, as if it wasn’t from this restaurant but at the station. It lacks coziness, perhaps decor, a pleasant smell, but in the end you have bare tiled walls. But overall the food and atmosphere of the room was great.

In term of food, it is good, but not 42e worth. The rice in sushi is delicious and spot on, with a little sour taste to boost your hunger. However, they use the same rice to make fried rice and use too much oil, which make the rice end up absorbing all the oil. The food is much smaller than the picture. The service is 4/5, they will serve you what they have first, not what you order first and sometime they serve you the wrong thing. They are very polite and gental, tho. And one more thing about the food, only the salmon dishes are very fresh. The other fish dishes are not that fresh.

Had to wait almost 2 hours for sushi that was dried out and tasted far below expectations. Very dissatisfied. No more Sumo for us!

What a ballet tent. If you want to have the worst all you can eat experience you should go here. Received 10 snacks in 1.5 hours, then asked for a special arrangement with the price and still dared to ask for 70 euros, what a shame

We always enjoyed eating at Sumo. However, today we saw a mouse in the restaurant while we were eating🥲. We pointed this out to staff but nothing was done. I would never eat there again.

The food was great. That's about the only positive thing I can say about this place. The all you can eat is misleading. You only get 5 rounds of 5 items each. That statement does not live up to its name in this restaurant. The worst part is the waiting time. The restaurant is huge and during a rush hour full house you will be waiting for your food FOREVER. It took us about an hour and a half just to finish our second round. We maxed out our orders on the tablet and we're sitting there bored and hungry while they drip fed us food. Never coming back

The fact that you can only order a maximum of 5 rounds should really be mentioned in advance… I find it misleading and unfair. Sometimes you order a little less in one round, and apparently, that’s not allowed because then the iPad suddenly stops. I would prefer then to go somewhere else where they don’t have this…

You can order 5 dishes every 10 minutes per person on a handy iPad. However, you are misled with "unlimited" food, but that is not the case because you can only order 5 rounds. There are a number of surprising dishes such as the mozzarella maki and the Gyoza Okonomi that I definitely recommend. The restaurant is nicely decorated and staff is friendly. For many dishes you have to pay extra or order a "premium" package, which is a shame. And one point for improvement: don't serve garlic with everything. In my opinion, ketchup or mayonnaise should be served with potato dishes... as a final tip I would like to say that you should make use of the 5 rounds because after that your dinner (or lunch) is over. So don't order 1 dish per round because then you will go home hungry. I had a nice warm experience here and would definitely come back here as they have really done their best to put innovative sushi on the menu

Sumo is one of the four (if I'm not mistaken) all you can eat sushi restaurants in Arnhem. I hadn't written a review about Sumo yet, but I have been there before. The map and the entire interior have now changed. It looks cozy with all the blossoming trees. There is a wide choice of sushi and other dishes. I do think it is a shame that only part of the map has pictures. I find it easier to choose if I can see what exactly everything is. Fortunately, you could see all the pictures of the dishes on the tablet that we received, despite the large group of 4 people. The taste of the sushi and other dishes is excellent and comparable to other sushi restaurants. The service was extremely fast. Maybe because it was Monday and not that busy, but even then. I felt like we had ordered the food and the first part of the dishes arrived within a minute. Sometimes perhaps a little too quickly because sometimes we received dishes that we had not ordered and dishes that we had ordered did not arrive. The tables were also sometimes changed. Because it is all you can eat and we liked most of it, that was not a problem. Even though it is very chaotic with such a large group, the staff remained friendly and patient. As is often the case nowadays, some of the staff in the restaurant did not speak Dutch. When we wanted to order a dessert, it said that you could only order 1 per dinner session, but that we had already ordered 43. So that was a bit unclear. Luckily, I think a waitress heard this, because she came to us and explained that we could just order the desserts separately from her instead of with the tablet. Whether this was unlimited or not was unclear to me. In any case, I ordered 3 things and it was no problem. Legend: 1) Terrible! I don't recommend it, I will never come back! 2) Too bad, below my expectations, I won't come again. 3) Ok, nothing wrong with that, but nothing special, nice for once. 4) Fine, worth coming back. 5) Excellent! I recommend, I will definitely come back!

Beautiful interior. The food is tasty. Staff isn't bad either. You can order 5 rounds at a time. When it is busy it can sometimes go wrong that you don't get your food or you get the wrong food. The quality of the food itself is good. The sushi is excellent. Unfortunately, I think they have fewer options compared to other restaurants, especially in terms of meat dishes, but what they do have is tasty. You can order a maximum of 5 rounds and for me that is enough.

We always enjoyed going to sumo. However, the selection of dishes included in the price has become smaller and you now have to pay extra for many dishes that were previously included. Dessert is no longer included and for an additional €1 you only get 1 scoop of different types of ice cream or a small fruit salad - no more fried bananas! It's a shame that the offer has deteriorated so much. We also think that the basic price has increased from €25 to €30. For us it will no longer be worth going to Sumo in the future. Luckily, there are even more good sushi providers.

Unfortunately the food was not good. Lots of hot dishes, cold and chewy. Many things were swimming in grease. Never again for us!

The food was bad. Tough meat, sometimes cold, salmon was still swimming in fat, vegetables were bland and the sushi was not good either. The excuse was that the chef can only make very little fresh food because of the many different dishes. That's why they logically serve disgusting food. Then approach it differently or close your store, I would say.

Made a reservation in advance, had to wait for a table upon arrival. Once at the table after 1.5 hours I had only received 3 sushis of the two rounds ordered (ordered 5 sushis per round, so 3 dishes out of 10 means that after 1.5 hour, 7 dishes were still missing). Took ridiculously long. After reporting this twice, nothing was done about it. Indicate this again at the cash register at the end of the evening. Could get a drink off the price. The dishes were cold. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I'll never go back here.

Food was delicious, unfortunately I asked in advance if something could be done for dessert because it was my girlfriend's birthday. They have forgotten this. The service was super nice and did a good job. I thought the food was fine. Except for the myso soup and the veal in pepper sauce and the rose, I found something less.

Had a lovely dinner with friends last night. You can sit comfortably there, ordering by telephone works perfectly, food is delivered quickly, the choice of dishes is very wide, and everything we ate was delicious.

Sushi was not that tasty, it seemed like it had been there for a long time, a bit of dried out rice. All rounds were mixed up, salmon ordered in round 1 came after round 3... I didn't think it was worth the money it cost

The only thing I liked was the atmosphere. In all you can eat, the orders got wrong, I did not complain but didnt like the food as well. Also I don’t like the attitude of “I cannot give you a glass of tap water” basically, they want you to pay for everything, even the breath you take(!) Didn’t worth for money, never again.

Mijn 1ste keer, ging gelijk fout met bestellen. Per ronde (5 rondes) mogen 5 lekkernijen besteld worden. Ik bestelde 1 of 2. Aan het eind vroeg ik of het wel klopte wat ik deed, de serveerster zag de fout en gaf mij wat extra rondes. Het eten kwam snel, de smaak was heerlijk. Koude en warme gerechten. Gefrituurd, vers, gekookt. Lekker rustig kunnen eten. Mooie locatie, goed eten en vriendelijk personeel. Voor mij een aanrader om nog eens langs te gaan.

Vriendelijke medewerkers, maar de kwaliteit van het eten was echt slecht. De sushi was niet vers en leek wel een week oud. Ook weinig opties qua lunch. Jammer.

Lekker geluncht bij Sumo met een vriendinnetje. Smakelijke paling sushi en warme gerechtjes. De gerechtjes kwamen vlot en warm op tafel en de medewerker in de bediening was servicegericht. Prima. Enige minpuntjes waren dat de zalm en lamskoteletten een beetje aan de droge kant waren.

Went there for a quick bite and ended up with the buffet menu. All you can eat ordered via a tablet, but really nice presented food. I had the impression I was in a very fancy restaurat. Plus the guy at the entrance was really nice and got us a table even if the restaurant was fully booked. Update November 2023: the all you can eat buffet is 25.5 euros and you get a QR code which after scanning opens the menu for food and drinks. You have 2 hours to order. You get 5 pieces per order. Never made it to the 3rd order as you get a lot of food

Weer heerlijk gegeten! Ruime keuze in diverse sushi's, vlees, vis en groenten. Keurige bediening, we hadden een kind in ons gezelschap dat aan het begin ziek werd, niks gegeten, maar ook keurig van de rekening gehaald. Ook wel eens anders meegemaakt. Zaak heeft een prettige sfeer, we waren er op een zondagavond en het was niet mega druk. Alles smaakte prima!

Have been eating twice at Sumo and both times the Sushi was very good. We decided to order the all you can eat Menu (5 Courses) an both times didn´t even managed to reach the fifth Course. The service was fast and kind and the ambient of the restaurant was nice - as a customer you also have the opportunity to eat outside (dont know if its always possible or regarded to the weather conditions). All in all i can really recommend Sumo if you are in arnhem and want to eat Sushi.

Heel vriendelijk personeel, goede bediening. Het eten is opzich lekker, vind het alleen jammer dat ze over veel gerechten te veel saus doen. Heb het vermoeden dat de witte saus mayonaise of iets wat erop lijkt...niet lekker over sushi.

Het eten hier is prima maar van echte service kun je niet spreken. Alles is vrij onpersoonlijk omdat de gerechten zonder een woord te wissen op tafel worden gezet. Hierdoor is de sfeer ook wat kil vind ik. Verder "maar dat is voor de hele horeca" zijn de prijzen eigenlijk niet leuk meer..
