Delicious coffee and good pastries!

No laptop policy about which I wasn’t warned in advance.

The place is cute, but crowed. It seems that they have great quality coffee but I can't say the same about the matcha. I was very frustrated with the poor quality of the matcha. It seemed to me that they used a ready-made matcha mix. I wasn't expecting a ceremonial matcha but his one had a strange color, was too sweet and didn't convey the complexity of a true matcha. The hot matcha latte is served in a glass without handles, which makes it challenging to drink without burning yourself on the temperature of the liquid.

't Koffieboontje is an oasis of calm on the bustling Oudegracht canal. Here, you instantly forget the hustle and bustle of the city. I sat here for thirty minutes, and it felt like a real break. The cappuccino is high-quality and carefully prepared. The staff is friendly and creates a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking for good coffee in a homey setting.

Delicious specialty coffee! A cozy little place to sit. Also great for a coffee to go. Tip: if you want to sit there, come during the week because it gets crowded.

My girlfriend was shouted at and harassed, while speaking with me on the phone, by another customer and the waitress/owner. The coffee shop was super busy and loud. They started to shout at her while I was on the call. Expect to have me in in, in the near future. Appending response: Hello again, First, both the customer and waitress shouted at my girlfriend in clear English, so please reply to me in English as well. I don't speak Dutch, and responding in a language I don't understand is itself disrespectful. Second, update your contact information or actually answer your published phone number. I called three times between 9:30 AM and 1 PM specifically to avoid a public dispute and resolve this matter privately in a civilized manner. I only mentioned coming in person because you failed to answer your business line during operating hours. It's unprofessional to publish contact details and then ignore calls. Simply answer your phone. Third, if you interpret my message as threatening, that confirms to me that you acted in bad faith when you publicly harassed Kateryna while she was on a call with me from thousands of kilometers away. Your reaction to this review demonstrates malicious behavior. I need to know which authority in the Netherlands has jurisdiction over customer service standards and harassment complaints. Your response here serves as evidence of your conduct. If you're willing to do the right thing, cooperate with this report. Failure to cooperate will confirm this is a more serious matter than poor customer service.

Always delicious coffee at 't Koffieboontje and super friendly staff! And it's also great that they have a "no laptop" policy, so you can actually talk to each other and not be bothered by other people on (video) calls.

Best coffee in Utrecht in my opinion! Always busy so not ideal if you want to chill, but understandable since it's located in the centre and the coffee is very very good 😊

Nice coffee shop, but extremely crowded and loud. It's difficult to sit comfortably together. Unfortunately, my coffee was only lukewarm, almost cold. My companion's was fine, though. The cakes were okay.

A lovely spot for a cup of coffee right in the city center. It's especially quiet in the mornings on weekends. It does get busier around 11:00. Service is fast, and the staff is very friendly. It's also great that if you want something like oat milk in your cappuccino, it doesn't cost extra. The apple pie is also highly recommended!

They used to be my favorite café in Utrecht Centrum. But as I came back, ordered two lattes and two extremely small (literally 5 x 5 cm) side-coffie sweets, I was overcharged with €20.40 to pay. After requesting the receipt, I saw that I got charged €4.95 per mini-sweet, and I wasn't even told about such a price nor I saw anything being displayed near them. It's quite sad to see them transforming into a a tourist trap. I will surely not be back there for quite some time.

I like coming here, but I have to say the quality is declining. The staff is a bit unfriendly and looks like you're interrupting them. It's like all the budget is going towards new furniture. Such a shame.

Good ice latte. They have raw cakes, from which I tried the salted caramel, very tasty.

They used to have the most velvety chai latte, sadly not the case anymore. I’m also not a fan of the new interior design, it’s so dark and full of plastic. It used to be so much brighter, happier and cuter. I also miss the cinnamon sugar. I don’t know what happened that triggered these changes, but I don’t think it’s one of my favorite cafes anymore.

Cozy, cozy coffee spot. Delicious coffee and a good atmosphere. Ideal to escape the busy city during the day and recharge. The coffee was so good that I only took a picture afterwards with an empty glass/cup. Definitely a place to visit more often.

Unfortunately not a pleasant experience. Service comes across as "pretentious" friendly. You get your coffee in a to-go cup even if you take a seat in the shop itself (this was temporary I believe) and don't sit there if you want to work on your laptop, because that is not appreciated. Unwelcoming experience unfortunately!

Unfortunately, only to go is possible fifteen minutes before closing. This was quickly informed to me, 20 cents extra for your paper cup. I only ordered a lungo, unfortunately it was brewed so hot that the coffee was almost bitter. Good thing it's to go, because I can only take the first sip after almost 10 minutes.

Came for a coffee with old friends, to show them the world of specialty coffee. I asked the blond lady what filter coffee they had, and despite it was not busy at all, she refused to do another batch of filter coffee because it was "busy".. But she was just talking with the other colleague. When I was going to pay, she literally screamed at me while I was going to pay for no reason. My gf was surprised of how rude she was. I asked her name to post it here, but she refused. Terribl experience. Won't come back

Expensive lukewarm cappuccino and expensive carrot cake and cinnamon bun for only €15 ???? Carrot cake cut as small as possible!!! Both were very dry. The first time and also the last time in this tent.

Basically has good coffee, but when the barrista saw I had a tablet she told me 'no laptops'. Was strange, abrupt and unfriendly - the tablet was just being used as a smart phone, which lots of people there have to hand. Perhaps just a bad day, has been fine in the past, but does not make you feel welcome.

Nice coffee place, just very tiny, cramped and therefore, also very noisy. Staff was very confused lots of times about which table ordered what and you got the feeling they did not had overview on the place. The queues for ordering wasnt clear and everyone was just waiting in random order. Getting your order also took a loooong time. So, if you want to have a more relaxed coffee break, find another place :)

The coffee shop made a dirty impression; tables were full of crumbs from our predecessors. Don't you just wipe that off with a hot clean cloth with cleaning agent?! Not so. There was only one person behind the counter so the service was minimal. You have to go to the cash register yourself to order. Then this: a coffee bar without iced coffee. That is not possible in my opinion. The worst thing for me was the dirty dishes in which my coffee was served and the even dirtier toilet! What a dirty tent! Once but never again!

Small but nice coffee spot, with a nice hanging chair to read in! It is often busy and therefore a bit noisy, but since laptops are not allowed, the atmosphere is also made for a nice chat. The coffee is always good, and the pastries always look delicious. Let's try it next time 😌

Utrecht offers many coffee places but this place is by far the cosiest we have ever been. Coffee is tasty, we also tried chocolate coconut cake which was creamy and delicious (served as a birthday treat for my boyfriend). When we arrived it was packed, so I believe locals are frequent visitors. Toilet was clean and well maintained also. I would come again!

Had coffee there this morning. You have to order at the bar, no problem. I order a regular cappuccino. Still nothing special, but the question is asked whether I want a small or a large cappuccino. I say I'm going for the big one. I pay for the large size at the bar. I am served the small size when I notice without raising my voice that I don't think that is correct. I get an extremely rude and insolent answer, nothing, no excuses or anything. Admittedly: It was 80% full and that girl was on her own so that can happen. But it was far from pleasant. Coffee and cake are of good quality

Excellent place to enjoy your coffee!! I spent two weeks in Utrecht and that was my main coffee place to enjoy my cappuccino!! The cream on the cappuccino is awesome and also you can enjoy some soft brunch in the morning!! I highly recommend the place!! Pricing policy is also very good!!

Don't know if they have different types of beans, but the espresso macchiato I ordered is too acidic. Could barely taste any flavor other than the sourness.

The matcha is good tho not the best I’ve had. But I definitely enjoy it. The flavor is very strong and quite bitter. The matcha powder is definitely not ceremonial grade, possibly culinary based on the dull green-gray color it has. The place looks lovely tho and staff is very friendly

The coffee was good, but I was served in a reusable cup instead of a cup (even though I was having lunch there), which is rather strange and not very ecological… On the other hand, the croissant for €3 is inedible , I don't recommend it at all.

A good relaxed place for a very nice coffee.

Came here to get a latte and carrot cake to go and found this cafe to have a better quality coffee than most I have tried in The Netherlands. Being used to the quality of coffee from Australia this coffee was of decent quality, the technique was there but the latte art was not, yet a good attempt. The carrot cake was of good quality. The flavour was nice and light, the crust was crispy and the amount of icing on top was perfect. Overall a cafe with better quality coffee, good pastries and kind service.

Hi, fellow traveler! I've visited this place to chat with a close friend. All in all, I liked it. Here're the pros and cons. Pros; - Interior design is sweet and cozy. (Especially windowside places are nice in rainy days. You will have a nice view.) - Their coffee and desserts are not perfect, but good enough. - Staff is very friendly. - It's very close to the center of Utrecht. (You can just continue your trip without walking too much.) - Prices are affordable. Cons; - Mostly, it's a little bit crowded. - Sometimes, it's noisy and hard to have a quiet conversation.

Such a typical and cute coffee shop. 't Koffieboontje does not make any new inventions, but has a perfect execution based on the existing recipe! On top of that, it is very affordable for a coffee shop. Food gets 5 stars because the coffee was really hot.

Nice, cozy coffee ☕️ 👌 They have vegan milk alternative oat milk. My coffee was well done and tasty. Also, they have several vegan pastries. I was positive, surprised that my cake was a raw cake, yummy 😋 🎂 Laptops are not allowed inside, what I linked. So it feels more chill inside.

You see someone at their laptop before entering (probably someone of the staff-not sure). You enter, you order & pay your coffee, you sit down & open your laptop, they bring you the coffee & rudely, almost aggressively they say: “it’s absolutely not allowed to use your laptop, there is a sign at the door” … well … not the customer approach you expect… I’m respecting your policy but the way the staff made me aware of this was so unfriendly and not professional. It’s about the way they made me feel (like I committed a crime) and not about the policy.
