I had a fantastic time celebrating my 50th birthday here. Everything was taken care of and the BBQ food was delicious. The location and staff are fantastic.

The miracle of Soest! Making a reservation is even harder than at De Librije. This is because the couple is closed one month and open again the next. "I've previously shared photos of this place that many visitors have seen — so I'm adding a current photo so others can get a good idea." True Soest locals and regulars know exactly when. It's always busy; this restaurant isn't good, it's excellent! The best meat, the best fish, everything homemade – even all the sauces. And all that in a tiny kitchen with only four burners. BEWARE! This is a night out, so don't expect a quick bite and then off you go. You'll be warned about this at the start; it's clearly stated on the first page of the menu. All the 1-star reviews about long wait times are completely missing the point. We had to wait a long time too, but it was more than worth it. If you're preparing for a night out, three hours of dining is actually quite enjoyable. The dishes arrived at exactly the right time. The host (also the owner) has truly invented hospitality: he has an eye for detail, pours absurdly large glasses of wine, and always gives you something extra. He's a chatty person and maintains a perfect overview. A true hospitality professional. On Mondays and Tuesdays, he and his wife buy their own ingredients. So he knows exactly what he's talking about when it comes to quality. He chooses only the very best; an extensive menu with a changing, extensive off-the-menu menu. Everything we ate—and I mean absolutely everything—was absolutely delicious. From the meat, the tuna, the fish trio, the fries, the salad, the mayonnaise: everything was top-notch! This restaurant is now in my personal top 3 of best restaurants in the Netherlands. Large portions, very refined, all the flavors perfectly balanced. There's really nothing that could be better (perhaps slightly smaller portions – we had no room for dessert). Recommended: carpaccio, fish trio, tuna, Argentinian steak. We've already made another reservation for a few months from now. This restaurant has been around for 32 years, but it's a gem that hasn't been discovered by everyone yet. Do you want to experience truly unique flavors and the best quality meat, fish, and vegetables? Then this restaurant is for you! I rarely spend the entire evening raving about how good the food is – and people who read my reviews know I'm not easily impressed. If you come across a 1-star review, it's almost certainly from people who had to wait a long time. But everything is fresh and prepared on the spot, and you can taste it. If you read a review from someone who didn't like the food, I can confidently say: that person doesn't understand quality. I recently ate there for the second time with friends, and everything was excellent again! Unfortunately, the tuna was sold out, but the chef truly knows how to transform simple dishes into something special. The Argentinian steak strips are highly recommended as a starter; they were very tender. The Iberico steak is also excellent in terms of flavor. A very large portion. Even the apple pie with ice cream was exceptionally delicious in terms of flavor and presentation—top notch again! We'll be eating there again soon, because I want everyone to have a truly special and enjoyable meal. Had sandwiches earlier, absolutely excellent. The last time... Not. There was 1 sandwich in the display case and asked if it was possible to have a sandwich made. After the employee inside had to ask the employee outside, it turned out not to be possible (probably because the person who makes the sandwiches wanted to smoke her cigarette first). Worthless
