A truly unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely amazing, but the real highlight was the exceptional hospitality and service. We arrived around 3:30pm and were initially told that service started at 4pm. As we stood there disappointed and discussing what to do, the owner, Mr Singh, came over and said something we will never forget: “We are open for YOU. We will prepare anything you need.” That one gesture meant so much to us. We were coming to the end of almost a month travelling through Italy, Paris and Amsterdam, and this incredible act of kindness was truly the cherry on top of our European adventure. Mr Singh made us feel less like customers and more like guests in his own home. The food was delicious, fresh and beautifully prepared, but it was his warmth, generosity and genuine hospitality that made this experience so special. Sometimes the best memories from travelling are not just the places you visit, but the wonderful people you meet along the way. Mr Singh gave us one of those memories. First day in Amsterdam for dinner we can’t find a place to take our dinner at 23.00 all restaurants refuse us..but only this restaurant didn’t refuse..they’re also closing but they’re serve un best food..very tasty ,service excellent..very kind people..highly recommended 👌

Unfortunately, disappointing. The butter chicken tasted mainly of tomato sauce. The "salad" was an outrage: a few meager lettuce leaves, cucumber and tomato slices. Definitely not worth the price. When we asked if there would be a salad plate for everyone, they said yes.

Really enjoyed our meal at Taj! We had the butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, garlic naan, and samosas, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Great food, friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

We recently visited Taj Indian Restaurant for the first time for a team dinner, and it was an absolute standout experience.From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and accommodating to our group. We ordered three to four different dishes, and every single one was excellent—perfectly spiced, authentic, and full of flavor. The pricing is also very reasonable, especially considering the fantastic quality and portion sizes.To top off a wonderful evening, they treated us to complimentary kheer. It was absolutely mouthwatering, creamy, and the perfect sweet finish.Highly recommended for team outings or anyone craving top-tier Indian food in Amsterdam. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful experience at this restaurant on Marie Heinekenplein. Every single dish was exquisite and full of flavor. We found the way the dishes were served in those stylish copper pans, with the tea lights underneath to keep everything nice and warm, particularly atmospheric. Everything was perfectly taken care of, and we truly enjoyed the evening. We will definitely be back here soon.

We were on our way to another resta And came upon the Taj. Honestly, their food was very good. We had prawn biryani, which was well flavoured and delicious; and the dhall makhani and paratha, my favourite, which was very good! They gave us complimentary papadams and chutneys, a large salad and some kheer to share for dessert. I do recommend them.

Amazing service and food, the lamb was so tender and the curry was full of flavor. Mango lassi actually tasted great and not just sugary water. The cheese garlic naan actually tasted like cheese and garlic. Just honest, humble food with bold flavor

A great restaurant with some nice vegan options! If you ask, they can also remove butter or etc., so that it becomes a vegan meal. The staff is really really nice and the atmosphere is wonderful, would definitely recommend to everyone!!!

I am a returning customer, Taj is always a valid option when in De Pijp. The food is prepared with skill and the staff is always kindly providing explanations regarding the ingredients and level of spiciness. Very solid alternatives on the menu if looking for something vegetarian.

I was blown away by the lamb saag--incredibly tender meat!--and the peshwari naan--the filling was so moist and abundant! Everything else we had was excellent, too--the onion bhaji (loose deep-fried onion bits, not balled together--more surface area for sauces!), the papadam (so crispy!), and the gulab jamun. I love Indian food and have sampled Indian restaurants in the UK and US, but this was my favorite by far.

Such good service here, very attentive. The food was so delicious, best Indian food I have had in Amsterdam. We had the biriani and chicken saag curry. The starters were also good and very nice naan breads. My friend had the spiciest lamb curry on the menu, be warned ... it was extremely spicy!!! And very very reasonably priced. Cant wait to go back!!

Last night, two of us had dinner at Taj. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and assisted very kindly. The food (chicken tikka masala, chicken Karahi, bhindi bhajie, butter naan) and the mango lassi were absolutely delicious and highly recommended. The service at Taj is of very high quality, and we will certainly be back.

An authentic experience in a somewhat old-fashioned design. We ordered a tasting course of both starters and main courses, which were delicious but we were a little disappointed to discover that it was actually the same dish - the same sauce, with a little more variety of meat, and we would have liked it if the waiter had pointed this out to us, especially given the fact that we were looking to taste a variety of dishes. We also ordered naan and cauliflower which were excellent. The food was delicious, the chicken was really soft and fell apart. The sauce was spicy!! The service was very pleasant, polite. A little formal. For dessert, we received, free of charge, excellent Indian ice cream, in flavors of coconut, cardamom and rose water. Really excellent.

Tourist trap pricing with small portions add up to very poor value for money. OK quality. Refuses to serve tap water.

Had an excellent dinner at Taj! We were warmly greeted by the friendly staff and comfortably seated in the cozy dining room. The food was delicious, very fresh, flavorful, generously portioned (we had plenty left for our lunch the following day), and fairly priced. Would love to go back for an other meal highly recommend!

Ordered as takeaway on uber eats at 18:00 with a promise to be delivered within 45 min. It’s now 20:11 and still no food. Called once at 19:00 with a promise to be delivered within 15-20min. Called a second time at 19:30 with a response that courier was on their way with 2 orders before us. More than 2h, still nothing and also, no call whatsoever. €50 spent for absolutely nothing but disappointment and no way to cancel the order. Please don’t overpromise when you clearly can’t deliver. Or at least keep your customers updated. But don’t just lie and think you’ll get away with it.

Ordered food 17:45, they said it will be delivered 18:40. ok can wait BUT it’s after 8pm and still no food. We called twice and it’s always 15’ away….aweful and not reliable service , if we knew we have to wait that long, we wouldn’t have ordered in a first place…now we are stuck at home on Friday night waiting for a delivery with no sign of ETA

Good Indian food and warm hospitality. We ordered garlic naan, raita, and paneer butter masala for two people, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The paneer butter masala was rich and well-balanced, naan was soft, and raita complemented the meal nicely. Total bill was around €30 for two, which is reasonable for Amsterdam. Friendly staff and a pleasant experience overall. Would definitely recommend to anyone craving authentic Indian food. 🇮🇳🍽️

My girlfriend and I had a great time at the Taj Indian Restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and both, food and service are excellent. This spot is INDIAN PERSON APPROVED. Dutch, British, Indian or anything in between as an Indian person I recommend and certify this restaurant for you. Great food, I’m a fan of the more flavourful curries so I went with chicken tikka and the butter paneer which was not spicy but was flavourful. If you find ketchup too spicy I’d stick with the butter chicken or shahi paneer

Lamb with lentils is served with yellow peas. Lamb korma is sweet. The lamb is cooked and then placed in a sauce. Biryani is rather unflavorful. Phulau rice is barely seasoned. Apparently a different chef than last year.

We really enjoy Indian restaurants and I always order a King Prawn Korma. The one at this restaurant is the best I've had. And the Peshwari Naan was crispy and filled with raisins and little pieces of lychee. So good. Fair price. Extremely friendly staff. Will be back and highly recommend!!!

What amazing food and service! It really is the best food we have had in sometime. We ordered two chicken dishes, a dal, and a naan. The portions are amazing. And if you do overeat here, I completely understand. It's hard not to so you're definitely not the only one :)

Don’t order here. Horrendous. They will tell you it takes 1 hour, but it takes over 2 hours. When you call them to ask when the food will be delivered, they will tell you “it’s coming in 15 minutes”. But it takes another hour. Save yourself the time and order somewhere else.

Besides the location and decent taste of food, I was heavily disheartened by seeing a fellow indian immigrant deny me a glass of tap water, which I believe is a basic human gesture. It wasn't like if didn't order a complete meal for two people. Not recommended. Providing us with a complementary dessert doesn't make it even for me.

Amazing hospitality and the taste was even better than what we get in India. We tried their bestseller - chicken tikka masala, dal fry and the kheer. All were such big potions. Probably the best Indian restaurant in all of Netherlands.
