Dinner for three. Quick and friendly service and the food portions were generous! We had mains and please we had not hard starters!

The food was good. 👍 But its not quite clean inside. On the hanging lamps it was a thick layer of dust - everywhere. This is for me a stop to go there next time.

(3) Had lunch here twice in a short time. The first time it was good. Had a Unagi set and some additional sushi and that Oolong tea. I don't drink the Oolong tea anymore, I didn't find it that tasty myself. The sushi was okay. Little garnish and a large ball of rice. Friendly young lady who helped expertly. The second time I had the Unagi set with additional sushi again. This time large balls of rice with a lot of garnish. Didn't fit in my mouth that's how big it was. They didn't have many of the drinks. That's why I had to (unfortunately) have a soft drink. 2 hours after eating the sushi I had diarrhea. That continued for the rest of the evening and I didn't eat my dinner for that day. I also had problems this morning. What I also noticed was that some of the sushi pieces from the Unagi set had fish eggs. That wasn't the case the first time. I don't want to eat fish eggs because I don't like them. This visit was a disappointment. There was also a somewhat older lady who, together with the young lady, did most of the work and very well (taking orders, being punctual towards customers, putting orders on the table). There was also a woman there with a somewhat round face who was playing with her phone while I was standing in front of her to reserve a table. And this woman was walking past customers and calling all the time. Kudos to the other ladies but not to this woman. That is why we decided to reduce the number of stars by 1. ========================================= (2) Have eaten here a few times. The second time as a team. Ordered delicious sushi. The size of the sushi varied: sometimes small with lots of garnish, sometimes large with lots of garnish. A good sushi is always a small ball of rice with lots of garnish. We also had fries here, which was a decent size dish. To top it all off, the team had said it was my birthday and I got an ice cream with candles and the staff sang. Of course I also got a birthday discount. ====================== (1) After a long time I ate here again. The sushi still comes with a large and small ball of rice instead of just a small ball of rice. The garnish is sufficient. I ordered a sushi flambéed tuna but it was not served and fortunately I did not see it on the bill. Otherwise I would have to say something about it. Homemade drinks were tasty: not too sweet and not too bland. Service was acceptable in terms of speed and friendliness. Pay attention to how much you eat here because the amount of rice they put out will fill you up quickly.

I visited at lunchtime. The rice was very filling and I was full. It had been a while since I had Japanese food and it was delicious!

Special ramen from lunch menu is flavorless with flavorless noodles, came with completely disintegrated piece of seaweed which looked like an oil leak in the soup. Wafu steak was OK for what it’s worth, but bit to chewy

At a place like this, the Gelderlandplein in Amsterdam, I would have expected a bit more quality. Dragon roll sushi, it barely had any taste. It's about the eel. I didn't taste any eel. Upon closer inspection, there was a wafer-thin layer of eel skin on the Dragon roll. Homemade iced tea was very sweet. Miso soup was okay. I found the quality/price ratio disappointing.

The hot dishes and fried food is amazing! There is a great variety of options.

Tanuki Gelderlandplein received a new look in March 2025, refreshed and efficiently organized. Food is still delicious. At least once a month in our social calendar for lunch with family and friends. Donburi Unagi = one of our favorites.

Ordered Gyudon, which actually a white rice topped with marinated beef in sweet soya sauce in a bowl served with Japanese miso soup (soya paste based). Simple yet tasty. Recommended to give it a try!

If you want to eat real sushi with flavor you should do it here! And not in an All you can eat. Delicious flavors! And freshly made.

Delicious food, quality as always very good. Service also nice. But it was very quiet on Sunday evening with 2 occupied tables and the lighting was too bright. This made it look more like a Japanese snack bar. Too bad, hopefully something will change about this.

Quality of the food and freshness of the ingredients used were far below par. Tuna brown and indefinable, chicken stale and tasteless, as well as the Tonkatsu, which was a real killer. Very bad food

I made a reservation, and received a flurry of automated confirmation emails, including one from a "do not respond" address two minutes after I arrived on time, asking "Did you forget about your reservation?!" which was pretty frustrating, because THEY seemed to have forgot about it, and didn't have any tables available. The bathroom looked like they'd just hosted a frat party, and their on-site menu doesn't match the one online.

Went to Tanuki again. It was probably not very busy due to the cold. But very tasty. Again highly recommended!

One of our family's favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. Very tasty sushi and sashimi. Decent beer, sake and wine available. Pleasant service, waiters and kitchen work quickly. The price is average. Around 40 euros per person with beer.

Very simple and food is not special, but if you want to eat something quickly and keep it simple, that is possible.

Food is well prepared and delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is not inviting. Don't take your date here on your first night. The visit: before or around 4:00 PM. 2 people, nice appetite for shopping. Staff, one texting at the counter, the other happily smoking next to the front (sliding) door. The rest wait apathetically. I actually had to wait more than fifteen minutes before any interest was shown and an order was taken. It is now 4:10 PM, so the lunch menu is closed. I ask about the option and point out to the server that although it is after 4:00 PM, we would like to order another lunch dish. The good man had no idea of ​​the time but was apparently woken up. Went to consult his manager: it was no longer possible. Bland and rigid if you think about the time we were waiting without attention, but it will work and I had promised my eldest to eat here and so we ordered dishes from the dinner menu. It is not the quality of the food. The inflexibility and lethargy of the staff means that I am avoiding this case for the time being.

I ordered fried tofu and it was very delicious! ! I felt like I was back in Japan. There were many menu items and it was fun to choose. The store staff is kind and gentle, and I highly recommend this store.

Good restaurant offering a wide selection of Japanese dishes, including sushi. The service is friendly and the facilities are tidy. All in all, it is a good option for lunch or dinner, alone or with the family or friends. Lunch offers the menu option at an attractive price.

The spout of the teapot was badly chipped, and when we asked for replacement, we were told the teapot was Okay. It was not replaced. I imagine because they are all like this? Will give them some time for refreshing the tableware before coming again.

The location is great in a nice mall and service was good but the food was not very fresh and incredibly salty (even without adding any soy sauce at the table). I kept waking through the night thirsty after eating the salty food.

The food is decent! Miso soup tasted great. The Japanese curry is good too. Sushi is okay, but fresh. Recommendations: - The miso soup is tremendous❤ - The mixed sashimi dishes are decent and sliced quite thick

We came here for dinner randomly as we were waiting for the rain to stop. I ordered the eel and miso soup with a salmon avocado sushi roll. The eel and rice came in less than 5 minutes and they smelled weird and not tasty. The miso soup was too salty. The sushi roll had avocado that was not ripe i.e. too hard to eat. My partner ordered some tofu dish and grilled veggies that had no sauce whatsoever and tofu was not fresh with a side of rice that is overcooked and obviously had been sitting there for a long while. We also had the soup in a plastic bowl. One of the worst dinning experiences we’ve had in Amsterdam.

I have been coming there for years and with love. I always take my friends and family there and they always want to come back there too. The most important thing is the quality of the food, it is fresh and delicious. Moreover, the service is good, they are always friendly and helpful. great atmosphere! And well located with (partly) free parking.

We ordered different lunches. Miso soup is very salty. The rolls are made carelessly, the salmon is not fresh. There is not enough rice in sushi. They asked not to put ice in the tea, and in the end all three teas were iced. Very bad.

Come here rather often because of it’s location. The food is quite average, sushi is quite ok, but found all their noodles are way too salty. Not really friendly staffs, but not much of a service anyway.

I have already tried to email you twice about a complaint from a few weeks ago about my order. However, your email address is inaccessible, after a few days the email keeps expiring... very annoying. Several times my pokébowl has barely been filled with ingredients, but mainly with rice. I took pictures of this last time. I would like to be compensated for this.

50% of the 2x ebi fried maki rolls came without shrimp inside of the tempura - photos included. sake avocado maki roll was ok. sesame bawl was ok too.

Special menu A and B My mum visited this restaurant about a year ago and really enjoyed it. With her recommendation in mind, I had high expectations when we decided to dine there for dinner and try the special menu. The special menu started with miso soup, which I found to be okay and quite flavourful. However, the octopus and duck breast slices were mediocre, and I didn’t care for the taste of the radish underneath. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired, as we had to wait 15 minutes for each dish to arrive. While the salmon and tuna sashimi were decent, the shrimp was not fresh and lacked flavour. I also noticed an abundance of fried items on the menu, which may have been overlooked because we didn’t thoroughly review the menu. The tsukune, or chicken meatball skewers, were also disappointing, with a plastic-like taste. Based on the quality of the food, I genuinely believe that this place is overpriced. In conclusion, I was greatly disappointed, as the food did not meet my expectations of what Japanese cuisine should taste like. Avg. spending ~ €45-50 (p.p.)

I am a huge Japanese foodie. So, you bet I know how and what should taste like. When I read the negatives reviews, I was sceptical. But they were correct…. Squid in takoyaki was raw, it was non chewable, like a plastic. The rice with gyudon (ribeye in a bowl) tasted like butter. My sister ordered udon with eel, the taste of fish was not fresh, like from aquarium The worst experience ever. I am not sure if I can look at squids sometime soon.

Horrible food that made my stomach upset… the rice bowl with eel - the fish tasted like it was brought from an aquarium that wasn’t cleaned for ages… the rice was mushy like a porridge 🤢 we ordered one more rice bowl with beef and the rice was not only mushy but also tasted like an old butter… so we returned back both bowls after having few pieces to try. The stuff asked several times what was the reason of the return. The verdict is: horrible taste that made me wanna throw up… the takoyaki is another story… the squid inside was raw and not possible to chew at all. Returned back to the kitchen as well. Overall we only had the half of miso soup and our lunch was over… but we payed 40+ euros for having only the miso soup. So disappointed. Instead of fancying the interior, focus on the meal taste. As Asian I can definitely say if the rice is well prepared and if the fish is fresh. All was awful. I wouldn’t give away this food even for free, it’s against humanity to feed people with such nonsense.

Ramen one egg, noodles, two pieces of seaweed and two pieces of meat. And thats it , broth was bland the servant kept coming by to clear the table. i shall not return to this restaurant .

Staff was friendly, the food was very disappointing.. it did not look like the photos of their menu, for example the fried oyster. Grilled vegetables was a mountain of cabbage and not grilled. The chicken, on the other hand, was tasty and so was the sushi, but not as expected.

Great restaurant with great food. They have so many different dishes, it is hard to choose. You will find nice dishes even if you are not into fish dishes.

Just came back from a 9-day roundtrip through Japan. Want to pass some of the experience to my wife and children. Service was good, food was fine. The big problem was the electric sliding frontdoor that was opened frequently and then remained open for a few seconds but long enough to blow a very cold wind into the restaurant. Very annoying if it happens every five minutes and a real bummer to the experience. Don't think the restaurant or food is special enough to come back for it but I am not much into Japanese food anyway.

家族でお寿司（海鮮丼etc）を食べました。 海のない国で普段生活していて、新鮮な海産物をなかなか口に出来ないので、ネタは感動するくらい美味しかったです。 オランダの他のスシを食べていないので比べられないのですが、西側で20ユーロしないでネタがたっぷり乗った海鮮丼が食べられるのはお得なのではと思います。 ただ、星５にしなかったのは、ご飯があまりに固くてパサパサだったからです。でも美味しかったです。気持ちは、星4.4です。 場所は市街から外れていますが、駐車場が無料でした。路上もゲート内も無料でした。特に駐車券をお店で処理する必要も無かったです。 欧米人は唐揚げランチ（12.5ユーロ!）などのランチメニューを食べていましたがボリュームがあって安いし、そちらも美味しそうでした。

Leuk concept en vriendelijke bediening. Het eten zelf was lekker, maar niet mind blowing. Daarnaast was het niet goed op temperatuur, dus vandaar een ster minder.

Mijn persoonlijke favoriet: sushi met mango. Verder goed te bereiken met de auto en makkelijk parkeren.

Unagi is really tasty, sashimi really fresh and i also recommend kushiyaki with cold nama sake ginjou . ❤️❤️❤️❤️

My partner and I went to Tanuki for lunch and it was amazing. We notified the staff in advance that we were going to bring our newborn with us and they took amazing care of us. The amount of space that was made available to us was really amazing and gave us the opportunity to fully enjoy our meal. Aside from this amazing service, the restaurant offers great food and has a nice vibe and feel to it. We would definitely recommend anyone to stop by at Tanuki for a great meal!!

La comida esta buena. La salsa del atun estaba muy rica. Pongo un cuatro por la carne, no se podía comer, los trozos eran gordos, estaba llena de nervios, y era el plato mas caro. Una pena.

Everytime we go here it's disappointing. The food is alright, but what bothers us the most is the service. Though some servers were nice, theres this one girl who just never smiles and is rude. When we went, it was so busy, it took an hour before the food got here, bc of the take aways. Never again. 5/10 DON'T recommend.

Except for the prices for Japanese food, there some good options to take, the food seems to be made fresh, you can basically see the people working and they seemed so welcoming, which is very important

Vergeleken met andere paar keer erg achteruit gegaan. Eten was niet lekker. Smakeloos en "rommelig". Kregen alles tegelijk en zijn waarschijnlijk met de gefrituurde oesters de mist in gegaan......hele nacht ziek geweest.🤢🤮 Laatste keer!!! Jammer, was meestal best lekker, maar nu volledig teleurgesteld en zonde van het geld.
