Found this place on Google after seeing some good reviews, but unfortunately, the food just wasn’t for us. The ramen was extremely salty and oily, and the flavors didn’t come together well. It seems to be more of a Chinese-style take on ramen, with lots of oil, salt, kimchi, and Chinese pork belly added. We ended up eating it only because we hadn’t had a meal all day after catching an early train to Amsterdam at 7 a.m. and not eating until 2 p.m. would not recommend

Finally I’ve got a chance to eat here. Before I arrived too early or it was closed. The service was superb, the staffs were so nice and fast service. The Ramen also really tasty, the broth was so thick. Also it’s a big meal, me & my husband left with happy tummy. We ordered Miso Ramen & TanTan Remen and Gyoza as side dish. All of them so delicious. We’re definitely gonna come again!

The vegetarian ramen are just okay. The soup is very tasty but the extras are just okay. They should add like some tofu or somewhere. Or at least some mushrooms.

Very disappointing. Miso ramen broth is thick using corn flour. The meat are more Chinese taste than Japanese.

I never write reviews, but today we were treated extremely unfriendly and unprofessionally. I arrived with two children and was apparently 15 minutes early. I was told in a particularly unfriendly way to go back downstairs with the stroller and two children and wait there. After 12 hours, I returned and explained that I understand how annoying it is when you're busy and customers arrive before opening time, but that this could be communicated more politely. The host disagreed, and instead of apologizing, she started arguing and quickly opened the doors. While we were the first upstairs, we (meaning me and two children aged 3 and 0) had to wait until everyone was seated, after which we could choose a table. Extremely childish and mean. The woman literally didn't say a word afterward, pacing around the entire room to collect table after table, except ours. She completely passed it by. When it came to paying, it was typed in, pointed at the ATM without a word. Then she walked away, and that was it. It's truly outrageous that you let yourself be known like that when you're confronted about something you disagree with, and treat paying customers like that. Extremely unfriendly and next-level unprofessional. I come here often, but this was the last time for us. This woman should be truly ashamed of herself!

Tour guide recommended place. Very local, nice atmosphere. Food was good, a little bit salty. (I still loved it)

Too salty ramen for me. I had a veggie ramen and a drink. Besides the drink I liked a glass of tap water and mentioned it was for taking medicine. They refused and told me I could buy spa blauw. Odd....if I only ordered tap water I could understand but I had a paid meal and an ice tea. You can show customer service by these little things. Not a place for me to go back to.

The veggie ramen is so flavourful and the staff is super friendly.

Ramen is very flavourful, and packed with blood pressure busting sodium. The chicken in the ramen is seasoned with a lot of salt as well, adding to the thirst inducing level of the meal. if they allow, ask for less salt. Bring a big water bottle.

Packed with essential minerals such as sodium. So much sodium. Better with half the amount of salt. I found the same problem in other parts of Europe like Spain so it might just be a local level of salt. Very generous amounts of chicken and pork, cooked well. The grocery store downstairs is expansive and we'll stocked.

I eat a lot of ramens and this one is my favorite, probably the best in my life, broth was very rich in taste, eggs and meat perfect, noodles very tasty, price is also very good. Staff are really nice and lovely.

Their Tan Tan men ramen 🍜 has a rich flavour as you would expect from a good place that takes care of their ingredients.

This must be the best ramen in Amsterdam. Not a lot of options for ramen but the one that I like is actually the best I had so far in Amsterdam! I really wish they are also open for dinner

Nice take on what the western people are used to concerning ramen, healthy gingery broth, wouldn't frequent it too often but it's a nice place to see another traditional twist on ramen. Last floor can hot and stifling under the sun.

Excellent Ramen, a very pleasant surprise, a bit hid away on the 4th floor above a Asian supermarket you will find Excellent Ramen, not 100% loyal to the Japanese one but comforting, tasty and reasonably priced.

Amazing food but the waiter is awful and rude. We left before even ordering and had a nice diner at Xian delicious food around te corner with good food and nice staff! Dun yong lost a big fan today!

The Ramen was alright compared to other ramen places I’ve tried. The overall dish I had felt like even if u had the correct spoonful of everything in the bowl the balance was off. It was a flavourful that sometimes felt overpowered by the slices of kimchi you added. This might of been an off day and I would like to go here and try the ramen again. The gyoza was decent and felt similar to other gyozas I’ve had before.

ramen for non-asians 😔 salty but somehow still flavourless broth, overcooked egg, and overpowering kimchi, which i don't think belongs in ramen at all. the noodles were good but overall this doesn't even taste like ramen.

The restaurant is tucked away at the top of the store, offering a stunning ambiance and a great view. I had one of the best ramen I’ve ever tasted! 🍜 We shared one dish between two, and it was more than enough. We were honestly disappointed to have found this place only at the end of our trip. The only downside is the opening hours, but despite that, I highly recommend this spot!🌷

You should arrive around 11.45 to ensure a seat. Their tantanmen is amazing. Super rich broth and the only actually spicy ramen in Amsterdam

The place is popular, and def expect to possibly wait for a table to become free. The ramen is good, and happy we tried it, but probably would opt for another restaurant next time if we're craving some ramen as we believe there are better options around. The gyoza as a side we could have missed, as it tasted a bit like mass-produced ones, like the ones they sell at Dun Yong downstairs. All in all fine to set the hunger, but unlikely to become a spot I'd go back to.

Service wasn’t the best as Taka is the only cook and there’s only 1 waitress serving/ catering to 20+ customers. The food was okay, however the soup base was very thick, thicker than gravy, it felt like eating potato starch soup. The ingredients were very flavorful tho and the ramen tasted authentic. Would perhaps return on less busy hours to give it another try.

I would say more like a ‘Chinese style ramen’ than Japanese but that could feel normal at the top of a 4floor Chinese store ;) Rich flavors of ShoyuRamen, kimchi, pickled ginger, egg, spring onions, meat in a very fatty fish-chiken-pork taste broth. It felt a bit too much for me in 1 bowl, I didn’t feel the balance that why the 4stars. The location is very authentic with a nice lookout on the top of the gingerbread houses.

Masterpiece, a feast for the mouth. Eat there, wait for the queue no matter what.

Ik zie dat de meningen wat verdeeld zijn. Moet zelf zeggen dat ik de ramen hier toch wel heel erg lekker vond. Ik ben gegaan voor de Tan Tan Men (Dan Dan noodles, spicy, sesame, chicken and pork based broth) Eten werd super snel geserveerd. De pittigheid was precies goed. Ik heb een smaakvolle lunch gehad.

I recently visited Taka Ramen, located on the top floor of a building with a shop on the main level. Accessing the restaurant is convenient, as you can take either the elevator or the stairs. Despite a queue upon arrival, it moved quickly, and we were soon seated. The menu offers a limited selection of ramen options, but we opted for the Tan Tan spicy ramen, which was nothing short of amazing. The broth was rich and perfectly spicy, complementing the noodles, which were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of bite. The addition of kimchi brought an extra layer of flavor that elevated the dish. While the restaurant is not particularly fancy, the focus here is on delivering delicious food. Overall, my experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and I look forward to returning for another bowl of their fantastic ramen.

Never had a ruder service before, asked for some water, the server dropped a bottled water on the table, that's it, no glasses or cups offered, just a plastic bottle. When I expressed surprise in the form of "that's it? No cups?", and she snapped at me: you can ask for it, but you can't complain. Excuse me? As if she was doing me a favor. The ramen itself is really nonremarkable to say the least. The broth is dense but lacks flavors. The noodles are not well cooked and the worst, they put kimchi on top of every bowl without asking, and I never had ramen in Japan that automatically comes with kimchi. Never. It seems like a trick but at least people need to consent to it because not everyone is so keen on fermented food, period. All I can say is: don't go for the hype, unless you are eager to be scolded by servers because you don't want to drink water from a plastic bottle in a sit-down restaurant.

I think it’s a cool ramen place, because of the location, if you seat by the window there is a nice view. I think the kimchi doesn’t connect with the ramen but the in overall it’s a nice ramen. Super fast service, kind service.

Soy ramen was way too salty, couldn't finish the broth. The pork topping tasted old and gave me indigestion.

Ramen is the whole point, and it is excellent. A well hidden restaurant, friendly personnel and a great price in the very center of Amsterdam.

From an Asian’s standpoint, this is a bit too much overrated. It is definitely not an authentic Japanese ramen store though the food quality is fine.

The ramen was amazing. Chewy noodles and tasty broth. The miso was a bit salty though. The staff was very friendly and the prices were fair.

We went here Friday after noon. It was busy. Only one lady working on the floor. She was very cool and handling everywhere( cleaning tables, welcoming customers, receiving payment, serving food etc etc) without being stressed. Respect for her. Maybe one more helper on the floor would be better. The menu is very simple and easy to choose. The food is ok. I would recommend and come again here when will be back in Amsterdam.

Small restaurant serving ramen and gyoza, informal setting, beautiful view of the canal. We tried the different types of ramen and also a portion of gyoza, all very good. Friendly staff, they were available to give us a car seat for the one year old girl who was with us.

The best ramen in town so far. Tan Tan men is just super yummy. The broth is thick but not heavy. No extra condiments needed. Delicious as it served. Their gyoza is irresistible. If you sit by the window, you will be spoiled by typical Amsterdam view. Always interesting. The meals are served very quickly. Be ready to wait in the queue. If you sit at the bar table, then you can chat with Taka who is very friendly.

the food is absolutely splendid. The broth of the tan tan men noodles is so rich, I 100% recommend trying it. I love that it’s located on the 4th floor of the supermarket (toko dun yong) making it easier to buy a mochi for dessert!

A few years ago we recognized this as a hidden treasure. It was messy but delicious. The cook cooked in the middle of the place and also served it. The sea food pancake was delicious. with tables here and there and people were seated at a large table. Delicious . Now everything is very neat in the business. But the ramen was no ramen for me and certainly the plain boiled egg that was in it was a disappointment. Fortunately, there are many other ramen places in Amsterdam where it is still very good. Shame about this place!!!

De ramen soep was vroeger heerlijk hier . Nu is daar niks meer van over .. zelfs het ei is een gewoon gekookt ei . Jammer van dit zaakje echt slecht geworden .

Food was OK but not the best ramen I had. Tan tan men had waaay too much oil added. The egg was overcooked. Service lady was very bossy. There were 2 empty seats at the bar but she said it would be too crowded and made us wait for a table. But then made the next couple who arrived after us sit at the bar anyways, while we were still waiting for a table.

1. The ramen broth was not seasoned well, lacked depth and probably time. It was also very greasy until the last bite due to the oil. 2. Because the broth was not well seasoned, the toppings such as Kimchi were much too strong, it also contained pickled ginger as a topping, which is far too intense in terms of taste and in my opinion does not fit in a good bowl of ramen. 3. The noodles hardly had any taste, in combination with a tasteless broth this didn't really help. 4. The egg and chashu were tasty. All in all, not worth repeating for us and therefore one to quickly forget, unfortunately, quite an expensive joke at almost €17 for a bowl.

I’ve had ramen here several times over the years. In the past I was a fan but the recipe seems to have changed. The new recipe is okay as a unique interpretation of ramen, but it is not really what I expect when I want a bowl of ramen - I personally prefer more subtle flavors. During my last 2 visits I found the broth to be heavy with lots of oil, very strongly flavored with lots of ginger and with a very thick consistency. Standard toppings include kimchi, which is also very strongly flavored with a lot of garlic. Overall nothing wrong with the dish per se, the portions are decent and the quality is good, but the flavors are just not my thing. I don’t suppose I will visit again even though I really love the location.

Wir waren zu zweit mit einem Kinderwagen für unseren kleinen Zwergspitz (Dieser ist komplett drumherum geschlossen). Wir wurden nach oben in das Restaurant geschickt um dann wieder rausgeschmissen zu werden. Danke für gar nichts!! Sehr unfreundliches Personal, nicht mal ein „sorry“ oder sonst was… Wir wurden rausgeführt, begleitend mit Personal, als wären wir Hochverbrecher. Keine Empfehlung meinerseits!

I came for lunch around 3pm on a Friday so there was no waiting. I asked for a recommendation and went for the spicy tan tan men which ended up being a great choice. A deep flavor with fresh ingredients and just spicy enough to make your mouth water. Will be coming back!

Definitely worth a visit. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of an Asian market where you can buy everything from fruit and vegetables to rice and chopsticks and furnishings. The restaurant has a small but very good menu. The service was super nice and quick. The view over Amsterdam while eating is also a positive surprise

A humble unpretentious eatery with good ramen that is hard to find these days. (Also literally hard to find because it is on the fourth floor of the Asian supermarket. I like my ramen and my broth thick so this is my place. The topping consists of kimchi, chasyu and a soft boiled eggs among others. Great taste and very chill atmosphere

I have been so unfathomably ill during the first week of school, and after suffering through another painful Dutch class I came here to eat. I was recommended this place by a staff member at my program - it did not disappoint. Trekking up four flights of an Asian department store was well worth it, the ramen was fantastic and the atmosphere spot on. Perhaps I am cured?

Hearsay isn't always what it's cracked up to be. After standing on the stairs for a while, we were assigned a table and again waited a long time as other tables ordered first. Ordered 3 different noodles, the flavors did not differ much. Ordered 1 portion of noodles without pork, which turned out to be vegetarian, as it contained no meat. Pity, and no communication about it either. I also ordered 1 portion of dim sum, which was forgotten and ended up being halfway through the noodle soup. Very unfortunate, but you can find a lot in the store, including: spices and kitchen accessories.
