The place is popular, and def expect to possibly wait for a table to become free. The ramen is good, and happy we tried it, but probably would opt for another restaurant next time if we're craving some ramen as we believe there are better options around. The gyoza as a side we could have missed, as it tasted a bit like mass-produced ones, like the ones they sell at Dun Yong downstairs. All in all fine to set the hunger, but unlikely to become a spot I'd go back to.

Service wasn’t the best as Taka is the only cook and there’s only 1 waitress serving/ catering to 20+ customers. The food was okay, however the soup base was very thick, thicker than gravy, it felt like eating potato starch soup. The ingredients were very flavorful tho and the ramen tasted authentic. Would perhaps return on less busy hours to give it another try.

I would say more like a ‘Chinese style ramen’ than Japanese but that could feel normal at the top of a 4floor Chinese store ;) Rich flavors of ShoyuRamen, kimchi, pickled ginger, egg, spring onions, meat in a very fatty fish-chiken-pork taste broth. It felt a bit too much for me in 1 bowl, I didn’t feel the balance that why the 4stars. The location is very authentic with a nice lookout on the top of the gingerbread houses.

Masterpiece, a feast for the mouth. Eat there, wait for the queue no matter what.

Ik zie dat de meningen wat verdeeld zijn. Moet zelf zeggen dat ik de ramen hier toch wel heel erg lekker vond. Ik ben gegaan voor de Tan Tan Men (Dan Dan noodles, spicy, sesame, chicken and pork based broth) Eten werd super snel geserveerd. De pittigheid was precies goed. Ik heb een smaakvolle lunch gehad.

I recently visited Taka Ramen, located on the top floor of a building with a shop on the main level. Accessing the restaurant is convenient, as you can take either the elevator or the stairs. Despite a queue upon arrival, it moved quickly, and we were soon seated. The menu offers a limited selection of ramen options, but we opted for the Tan Tan spicy ramen, which was nothing short of amazing. The broth was rich and perfectly spicy, complementing the noodles, which were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of bite. The addition of kimchi brought an extra layer of flavor that elevated the dish. While the restaurant is not particularly fancy, the focus here is on delivering delicious food. Overall, my experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and I look forward to returning for another bowl of their fantastic ramen.

I think it’s a cool ramen place, because of the location, if you seat by the window there is a nice view. I think the kimchi doesn’t connect with the ramen but the in overall it’s a nice ramen. Super fast service, kind service.

Never had a ruder service before, asked for some water, the server dropped a bottled water on the table, that's it, no glasses or cups offered, just a plastic bottle. When I expressed surprise in the form of "that's it? No cups?", and she snapped at me: you can ask for it, but you can't complain. Excuse me? As if she was doing me a favor. The ramen itself is really nonremarkable to say the least. The broth is dense but lacks flavors. The noodles are not well cooked and the worst, they put kimchi on top of every bowl without asking, and I never had ramen in Japan that automatically comes with kimchi. Never. It seems like a trick but at least people need to consent to it because not everyone is so keen on fermented food, period. All I can say is: don't go for the hype, unless you are eager to be scolded by servers because you don't want to drink water from a plastic bottle in a sit-down restaurant.

Soy ramen was way too salty, couldn't finish the broth. The pork topping tasted old and gave me indigestion.

Ramen is the whole point, and it is excellent. A well hidden restaurant, friendly personnel and a great price in the very center of Amsterdam.

The ramen was amazing. Chewy noodles and tasty broth. The miso was a bit salty though. The staff was very friendly and the prices were fair.

From an Asian’s standpoint, this is a bit too much overrated. It is definitely not an authentic Japanese ramen store though the food quality is fine.

We went here Friday after noon. It was busy. Only one lady working on the floor. She was very cool and handling everywhere( cleaning tables, welcoming customers, receiving payment, serving food etc etc) without being stressed. Respect for her. Maybe one more helper on the floor would be better. The menu is very simple and easy to choose. The food is ok. I would recommend and come again here when will be back in Amsterdam.

Small restaurant serving ramen and gyoza, informal setting, beautiful view of the canal. We tried the different types of ramen and also a portion of gyoza, all very good. Friendly staff, they were available to give us a car seat for the one year old girl who was with us.

The miso and soy ramen were very good and the size was quite large.

Good place, somewhat difficult to find and quite poorly signposted. You have to take the elevator to the fourth floor to reach the restaurant. Good ramen.

The best ramen in town so far. Tan Tan men is just super yummy. The broth is thick but not heavy. No extra condiments needed. Delicious as it served. Their gyoza is irresistible. If you sit by the window, you will be spoiled by typical Amsterdam view. Always interesting. The meals are served very quickly. Be ready to wait in the queue. If you sit at the bar table, then you can chat with Taka who is very friendly.

the food is absolutely splendid. The broth of the tan tan men noodles is so rich, I 100% recommend trying it. I love that it’s located on the 4th floor of the supermarket (toko dun yong) making it easier to buy a mochi for dessert!

I've been here multiple times, and the chef still amazes me. The food is delicious, and there is great service, that's fast too.

A few years ago we recognized this as a hidden treasure. It was messy but delicious. The cook cooked in the middle of the place and also served it. The sea food pancake was delicious. with tables here and there and people were seated at a large table. Delicious . Now everything is very neat in the business. But the ramen was no ramen for me and certainly the plain boiled egg that was in it was a disappointment. Fortunately, there are many other ramen places in Amsterdam where it is still very good. Shame about this place!!!

De ramen soep was vroeger heerlijk hier . Nu is daar niks meer van over .. zelfs het ei is een gewoon gekookt ei . Jammer van dit zaakje echt slecht geworden .

we were 3 people, the waitress welcomed us directly upon arriving on the stairs and served us about 5-10 minutes after we were seated at the table. excellent and hot ramen. I highly recommend

Food was OK but not the best ramen I had. Tan tan men had waaay too much oil added. The egg was overcooked. Service lady was very bossy. There were 2 empty seats at the bar but she said it would be too crowded and made us wait for a table. But then made the next couple who arrived after us sit at the bar anyways, while we were still waiting for a table.

recommend! There are only three types of ramen on the menu, soy sauce, miso and vegetarian, as well as the spicy Japanese Sichuan Dandan noodles. delicious. The location of the restaurant is hard to find. Go first to the Chinese Super League and then to the fourth floor.

The service is quick and everything is very clean. However the food is bland especially for the limited menu options. Also at their price point you can get a lot better.

1. The ramen broth was not seasoned well, lacked depth and probably time. It was also very greasy until the last bite due to the oil. 2. Because the broth was not well seasoned, the toppings such as Kimchi were much too strong, it also contained pickled ginger as a topping, which is far too intense in terms of taste and in my opinion does not fit in a good bowl of ramen. 3. The noodles hardly had any taste, in combination with a tasteless broth this didn't really help. 4. The egg and chashu were tasty. All in all, not worth repeating for us and therefore one to quickly forget, unfortunately, quite an expensive joke at almost €17 for a bowl.

I’ve had ramen here several times over the years. In the past I was a fan but the recipe seems to have changed. The new recipe is okay as a unique interpretation of ramen, but it is not really what I expect when I want a bowl of ramen - I personally prefer more subtle flavors. During my last 2 visits I found the broth to be heavy with lots of oil, very strongly flavored with lots of ginger and with a very thick consistency. Standard toppings include kimchi, which is also very strongly flavored with a lot of garlic. Overall nothing wrong with the dish per se, the portions are decent and the quality is good, but the flavors are just not my thing. I don’t suppose I will visit again even though I really love the location.

Wir waren zu zweit mit einem Kinderwagen für unseren kleinen Zwergspitz (Dieser ist komplett drumherum geschlossen). Wir wurden nach oben in das Restaurant geschickt um dann wieder rausgeschmissen zu werden. Danke für gar nichts!! Sehr unfreundliches Personal, nicht mal ein „sorry“ oder sonst was… Wir wurden rausgeführt, begleitend mit Personal, als wären wir Hochverbrecher. Keine Empfehlung meinerseits!

I came for lunch around 3pm on a Friday so there was no waiting. I asked for a recommendation and went for the spicy tan tan men which ended up being a great choice. A deep flavor with fresh ingredients and just spicy enough to make your mouth water. Will be coming back!

Definitely worth a visit. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of an Asian market where you can buy everything from fruit and vegetables to rice and chopsticks and furnishings. The restaurant has a small but very good menu. The service was super nice and quick. The view over Amsterdam while eating is also a positive surprise

A humble unpretentious eatery with good ramen that is hard to find these days. (Also literally hard to find because it is on the fourth floor of the Asian supermarket. I like my ramen and my broth thick so this is my place. The topping consists of kimchi, chasyu and a soft boiled eggs among others. Great taste and very chill atmosphere

I have been so unfathomably ill during the first week of school, and after suffering through another painful Dutch class I came here to eat. I was recommended this place by a staff member at my program - it did not disappoint. Trekking up four flights of an Asian department store was well worth it, the ramen was fantastic and the atmosphere spot on. Perhaps I am cured?

This is the absolute best ramen I've ever eaten and I've tried many in different countries. Wish I was still in Amsterdam just to go again

Hearsay isn't always what it's cracked up to be. After standing on the stairs for a while, we were assigned a table and again waited a long time as other tables ordered first. Ordered 3 different noodles, the flavors did not differ much. Ordered 1 portion of noodles without pork, which turned out to be vegetarian, as it contained no meat. Pity, and no communication about it either. I also ordered 1 portion of dim sum, which was forgotten and ended up being halfway through the noodle soup. Very unfortunate, but you can find a lot in the store, including: spices and kitchen accessories.

Vanwege de review hier gegeten maar erg zout en bij varken allergie krijgt u gewoon een vegetarische soep... de 3 smaken op het menu verschillen niet veel van elkaar. Lang op de trap gewacht, en vervolgens was er bij het bestellen ook geen goede volgorde waardoor we weer erg lang gewacht hebben.

For me this is a hidden gem. Very small and easy menu - three ramen soups (one vegetarian option) some different starters. Loved the miso ramen (rather thick broth). It is on the top floor of a big Asian shop, this makes this place and the experience authentic. Restaurant is small so be prepared for half an hour queue around lunch time.

Ramen was OK but not really warm and also had a very bitter taste. No extras, no toppings available.

Kimchi here seems to have lost it way and ended up in the ramen. On the contrary, succulent slices of chashu are nowhere to be found.

i was really excited to try this place because of the positive reviews. it took a while to finally make time for this, because it never fitted my schedule to visit during the afternoon. basically they sort of have the same kind of soup with the toppings but every bowl is tweaked a little differently. i ordered the miso ramen, as you can see in the picture it was well plated, but when i tried the soup it was really thick and not really liquid, as if there had been added quite some -starch. that kind of affected the taste and experience for me. personally, the ginger in the ramen was not really my thing either and overall, it was okay for me. but sadly not to be repeated!

This is more like homemade food than restaurant food! And I mean that as a compliment! The broth of the ramen is very umami, the noodles very chewy. Yeah this is really as good as it gets. Prepare to stand in line though.

Probably the best ramen I’ve tried so far in Amsterdam! Tan Tan Men was incredible, ramen egg was perfectly done, flavor was on point and they add kimchi inside which is a really nice touch! It’s fairly spicy so if you can’t handle spice I’d suggest choosing one of the other options on the menu. Menu is small but executed perfectly which I appreciate about places like this one. They are open only for lunch so plan accordingly, mind that it’s usually packed so if you’re in a group you might have to wait a few minutes. I would definitely put it on your list if you enjoy exploring Asian cuisine. I’ll be going back for sure!

Advice from the locals. Omg tasty Ramen 🍜 for 16,5€. The portion is huge (couldn’t finish) No reservation and just a few tables . Payment just with cards .

Amazing ramen the one you can find in this small restaurant which is kind of hidden. Worth it to wait the queue in case you go during the weekend. The service was really kind and the food came quite quickly. 100% recommendable!

Ik heb hier vanmiddag gegeten het was super lekker en de ramen was goed en snel bereid en de dumplins waren zeer sappig. De service was snel en aardig en de sfeer was heel gezellig. Vandaar de 5 sterren.

Interieur is ongelooflijk lelijk, en er is totaal geen sfeer. Maar Taka maakt echt heerlijke ramen, nog nooit een ramen met kimchi gehad maar een heerlijke toevoeging. Normaal bij ramen charsiu pork maar hij doet het met een soort stoof vlees wat ook top was. Ik heb de ei liever een beetje vloeibaar van binnen deze was doorgekookt. Heerlijk gegeten. 2 personen 2 ramen was 33,90 euro. Side dishes zal ik niet adviseren die komen allemaal van dun yong toko en is niet huisgemaakt.

Ik heb onlangs een bezoek gebracht aan een Aziatisch restaurant in Amsterdam en was aangenaam verrast door de unieke locatie. Je betreedt het restaurant via een supermarkt, neemt de lift naar de vierde verdieping en daar ontvouwt zich de eetgelegenheid. Het restaurant zelf is klein en heeft een beetje een ingetogen sfeer, wat op zijn eigen manier ook wel charme heeft. Het beperkte aantal gerechten op het menu zorgt ervoor dat je niet te lang hoeft na te denken over je keuze. Het personeel was over het algemeen vriendelijk, hoewel het leek alsof ze vooral bezig waren met het efficiënt afhandelen van bestellingen. Maar het hoogtepunt was absoluut het eten. De ramen die ik bestelde was ongelooflijk lekker. Ik kan me niet herinneren ooit eerder zulke smakelijke ramen te hebben geproefd. Kortom, ondanks enkele kanttekeningen was het een heerlijke eetervaring die me zeker bij zal blijven.

Tasty and large portion! Pls expect queues during peak hours

Prima Ramen, beetje gekke locatie en even wachten op de trap voor je aan de beurt bent. Met name de bouillon is heel goed. Ik kom er wel nog eens terug. Neem de lift of trap helemaal naar boven in de winkel om er te komen. Ik moest zelf even zoeken.

Kleine Ramenküche versteckt im 4. Stock über einem Asia-Laden. Und wow, richtig gute Ramen. Brühe sehr gehaltvoll, muss man so mögen. Kimchi weltklasse, dieses wird auch in die Ramen eingelegt. Hervorragend. Wartezeit schon eher lang, wenn nichts frei ist heißt es anstehen. Klimaanlage war recht kühl eingestellt, aber kein Problem, wir hatten Pullis dabei. Gesamtambiente okay aber nichts besonderes. Was zählt ist das Essen - dies ist ohne Abstriche zu empfehlen

Onze dochter van 12 zag Dun Young Kitchen voorbij komen op TikTok en was enthousiast! Als groot noodles fan zijn wij speciaal naar Amsterdam gegaan om hier te eten! En wat was dat lekker! Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar! Super aardig personeel! Op de terug weg vier verdiepingen via de trap naar beneden alles even rustig bekenen in de Toko winkel die de eerste drie verdiepingen in beslag neemt! Tot snel!

De miso ramen was extreem vet. De noedels net niet gaat. Prachtig opgemaakt, dat wel, maar ik liep naar buiten met een accute aanval van maagzuur. Overpriced voor de service en food. Ik hoef niet meer terug te komen.

The noodles did not wash away the bad taste in our mouth from the disgusting customer service we got here. We were waiting at the bar when table seats cleared up in the restaurant, and the waitress refused to offer us (2 people) a table because she wanted to reserve the available tables for a group of 4. When other couples (2 people) came in after us and she started offering other table seats to them, we asked again to be seated at a table instead of the bar seats. This is when the waitress started shouting at us that we were not allowed to pick our own seats and that once we pick a (bar) seat, we had to stay in it. Afterwards she pointed us at the original (4 people) table to sit down and did not say 1 nice word to us throughout the whole visit. What an awful experience

It was amazing! Very authentic Japanese ramen place. We took miso ramen and tan tan men. It has very thick broth and delicious ingredient in it. I personally prefer tan tan men. Would love to visit again!

I thought about it twice before posting this review because it's a hidden gem that is gaining more and more popularity. I return here every two weeks. The Tan Tan ramen dan dan noodles style is my favorite (spicy option). The service is informal and friendly. Make sure you arrive way earlier than the closing time or they might run out of portions. Worth the wait when full. Patience is a virtue 😉

Seriously the best ramen and gyoza I've had. I got the miso ramen and everything about it was perfect. The broth was my favorite part, it was just so rich in flavor. It I every make it back to Amsterdam, I'll definitely be back!
