Tapisco in Wijk 28 Centrum

We love good and inspiring food. For our visit to The Hague, we chose Tapisco based on its Michelin recommendation. Our impression was very mixed. We found the service to be very attentive and friendly, and the ambiance was lovely. We ordered the "Chef's Menu," which I expected to be something like the restaurant's "calling card." The selection of dishes was high-quality: oysters, salmon, octopus, prawns, and beef tartare. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was not. The beef had no flavor of its own, and the octopus was tough. The selection of dishes wasn't typical for tapas/petiscos, at least not for us. Overall, we were disappointed. We expected more from a restaurant with a Michelin recommendation.

A wonderful discovery for New Year's Eve! The calamari were delicious.

Unfortunately, the Michelin recommendation did not meet our expectations. The quality of the preparation and the ingredients fell significantly short of expectations in almost every course.

Been here for the 2nd time. Much better this time. Maybe it was because being way earlier, less crowded. We were two adults. Had a selection of starters, tapas and a desert. Everything was cooked perfectly. Service took care to serve our meals in an order they feel they match best with each other. Bravo! We ate a lot. For a tapas bar it’s on the pricier side but still okay-ish. My friend with Russian roots loved the Pavlova (and a German like me has to admit it looked great). Unfortunately no rosés available, but the white and red wine I had were excellent. Already checked my own dealers for availability. We booked through their system a dinner slot. After we already stayed longer than we had booked, service asked whether we were under pressure. Odd they don’t correlate their bookings to the tables. Yes we were under pressure and they helped us to meet our timeline. Nice we weren’t pushed as we still were waiting for the last course. Will absolutely go there again. If prices stay okay. (Management, take that seriously). It is within a few steps from my favorite hotels.

I celebrated my birthday here last year, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The service was fast, friendly, and very attentive, which made the celebration even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for a special occasion. I truly had a great time and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

Amazing food and interesting range of meals we had here. You can also watch the chefs at work. We ate the other meals before we could remember to take pictures. 😆 So sorry you only get pictures of desserts.

Slowest service I have ever encountered, we have been sitting there for half an hour very hungry until we got a tiny salad, the dishes weren't brought together they kept us waiting forever for food or service, the food is mediocre, small and overpriced I am so disappointed I'm literally writing this while still sitting at the restaurant

Dinner at Tapisco. Manchego, Iberico ham, croquetas, avocado stuffed with crab meat and calamari stuffed with chorizo. Great food, great service, great atmosphere - solid night out.

Beautiful surroundings. Friendly but slow and untrained service. The chef's table offers a beautiful view of the kitchen. The kitchen staff is very controlled and focused. The dishes are delicious. The flavors aren't all balanced. The pickle is too strong. The flavors are overused in various dishes. Lots of potential and definitely worth a second visit.

This should not be a Bib Gourmand by Michelin. Service is not on level, food is just so-so, mussels were even dangerously undercooked. Space is big, but not well heated, even cold with a breeze throughout. We had to wait 50min for our first appetizers… not coming back here, don’t recommend!

Yet another head-scratcher from the Michelin Guide in The Hague. How this place snagged a Bib Gourmand is beyond me. 🤔 The location itself is nice — right in front of the Kneuterdijk tram stop, across from the VOCO IHG hotel, and just a short stroll from our Hotel des Indes. So far, so good. My husband made a reservation for lunch, which turned out to be completely unnecessary — there were plenty of open tables. We sat down and ordered their “bread service,” which turned out to be… grocery store bread with a side of EVOO from Greece. Now, this is supposed to be a Spanish restaurant, so I’m not sure why we’re doing Greek olive oil here. Nothing against Greek oil (love it, actually), but it just didn’t make sense. The bread itself? Meh. And yes, you pay for it — which I know is pretty standard in the Netherlands, but still. For our meal, we just ordered a few appetizers since we weren’t that hungry and had another reservation later. We got the sardinas anchoadas — just three little slivers for 10 euros; shrimp croquetas that barely tasted like shrimp and were overcooked by about 30 seconds (the color gives it away and you bite into a over crispy bite that skins your whole roof of the mouth; and sobrasada, which was chorizo on brioche. Except the “brioche” was not fresh at all — it was basically sliced white bread cut into a circle and toasted. Come on, guys. We also ordered a board of jamón ibérico, which should’ve been glistening with that beautiful marbled fat, but it looked dry and lifeless. None of these dishes were standouts, and honestly, not one of them was worth writing home about. We had three glasses of wine with our food, followed by coffee, verbena tea, and crema catalana for dessert. Again — nothing bad, just nothing special. Everything felt… average. And for the prices they charge, that’s a no from me. The bill came to about USD 120.

Walked in and wanted a seat at the front outside which was ok However never got served and they were not busy, after 15 minutes I left and went around the corner for a drink instead

Nice restaurant, good service but food was not special

After a few good experiences, today was unfortunately a disappointment. After ordering and enjoying a snack, the main course was delayed. After a 45-minute wait, one staff member told us it would be right back, while another told us the order hadn't come through. Our patience was at an end, so we left. After waiting a while, the otherwise very friendly bartender was willing to give us the bill, explaining that the dishes we hadn't received had been removed from the bill. No apology, no gesture, nothing. The chef also completely distanced himself. It was a shame and disappointing.

The food was fantastic!! The service was very friendly and welcoming! We booked the chef's table and were able to see into the kitchen. It was great fun, although sitting on a stool or high bench for two hours isn't exactly comfortable, but it was undoubtedly for a better view of the kitchen. And the price was also very reasonable. Including a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, the three of us paid €135 and had more than enough food. 👌🏼

We had a chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was good and tasty, not overly special, but just enjoyable. The wines came in good glasses, too bad the staff couldn't really tell us anything about them. All in all, we had a lovely, long evening of dining.

This was a beautiful experience. We had the chefs table and the chefs menu. The dishes where just beautiful. Small elements that all came together in a bite. I see this chefs at the beginning of his great journey. Looking forward to taste his food again .

They took our reservation but when we got there, they told us the “Kitchen was closed because it was slow today.” No call, no text, no information at all. The excuse was “you have an international number.” This is what passes for a Michelin Star restaurant these days? Being disrespectful is never okay no matter how good you are.

We had a fantastic meal. We had the Chef's Menu with matching wines. Very enjoyable, and highly recommended.

Good Tapas, ok service, but not much atmosphere. It was quite costly for the food that we ordered, but I think most Tapas restaurants outside of Spain are much more expensive and usually too fussy and miss the mark.

The staff were warm and friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable but the food was less than we were expecting for a restaurant with a Gourmand Bib. Over the course of the evening we selected mostly seafood dishes but they were not very flavoursome or interesting. We would also argue that they were not particularly Spanish. They were very simple and lacked inventiveness or tradition. The former menu was more interesting and more value for money.

I have eaten at michillen restaurants before and this was every bit as good but very inexpensive for a 10 course meal. We ordered the chef choice. A lot of everything

A lovely, clean restaurant with an open kitchen. The service is friendly, attentive, and flexible. On Tuesday evenings, there's a pleasantly calm atmosphere, even in a busy restaurant, which also makes it attractive for business guests. I was very pleased with the menu design – it offers a choice between medium and large portions, allowing two people to enjoy a generous portion of the menu. Furthermore, the dishes are well-presented and flavorful, though they could sometimes use a bit more kick. The mussels, however, were truly excellent!

This tapas restaurant is located in the center of The Hague and has a nice look. There is a relaxed atmosphere. Not a fan of tapas, but still decided to eat here. The food was fine, with a few dishes that were really delicious. The Empanadas were a bit less tasty. Overall the food was good. The service could be a bit more proactive. The prices are on the high side.

Everything was very tasty, the portions are of course not that big as tapas are, but we were still full.

Great place for drinks and tapas

A blasphemy addressed to Spain This so-called Spanish restaurant is an insult to actual Spanish cuisine. We ordered marinated salmon and anshoa for appetizers — what we got were a few tiny slivers, barely enough to taste. For mains, we had two shrimp croquettes that didn’t even taste like shrimp, and some slices of jamón on a baguette passed off as tapas. That was it. We paid 61 euros and left genuinely hungry. If you’re looking for real tapas or anything remotely resembling Spanish hospitality or flavor, stay far away from this place. Moreover, they came to clean up the table while we were still chewing.

The combination of Spanish and Portuguese dishes to share was great! We opted for the chef's table where we saw everything being prepared. Delicious food and drinks. The restaurant is also stylishly decorated with a nod to Portuguese and Spanish interior design. An absolute must for us!

Small suggestion: the pan de cristal (delicious, my favorite) is not really easy to bite off, and the cutlery cannot get through. I seem to remember it used to be on toast, so it's possible. But someone who pays attention to that! Great everyone!

Ended up here via Michelin Guide and you actually expect what you have always come to expect from those types of restaurants. I think we had too high expectations based on the appearance of the website. The hot dishes were nothing special and you can't go wrong with cold dishes. It was also a shame that they didn't have sangria, which is exactly what you look forward to when you eat tapas. The service was okay, but somehow we didn't really feel like guests. We can't really put our finger on it, but it was a shame.

What a beautiful place and with such lovely people working there, we really enjoyed it! Dishes beautifully presented, exciting and sometimes a little less exciting, but very open to our findings. Mussels were very good with nice and tasty vegetables! We will definitely come again!

I had lunch here twice at short notice. It is a very tasty restaurant, also cozy and very reasonable in price for how tasty it is. My absolute favorite is the wind-dried tuna. I had never eaten it or seen it anywhere before, so tasty and unique! The staff is also very friendly and everything goes quite quickly, so you never feel like you're waiting too long. When the sun shines they have a very nice little terrace to sit on! I continue to recommend it and will definitely come back.

Groot restaurant in fraaie hoge ruimte op Haagse toplocatie. Sfeervol interieur met Portugese hints. De zaak zit helemaal vol. Wij kregen een hoge tafel bij de open keuken: leuke plek! De kaart bestaat uit allerlei Portugese/Spaanse gerechten die gedeeld kunnen worden. Voldoende keuze. Wij aten er heerlijk! Alles ook mooi gepresenteerd. Vriendelijke service. Prettig tempo. Bib gourmand zeer terecht. Prijs/kwaliteit in orde. Reserveren aanbevolen.

What a beautiful restaurant where a mix of modern, sleek lines are combined with traditional details. The host of our table was very observant and friendly. All dishes were beautifully prepared, good combinations of flavors and were delicious. For me personally it could have been a little saltier. Oh and don't forget to order a cocktail! 👌

Great atmosphere, bald man who welcomes you is nice and attentive. Two male waiters ( one was egyptian) are also sweet. On the other hand, the female waiters lacked professionality. Further, salmon tiradito was tasteless, the oysters were ok, the shrimp crocquet was nice. But the patatas bravas I ordered were not done and I decided not to eat them- i do not throw out food so i asked for a box w the intention to put them in an airfryer when I get home. When I asked for a box I was told that they dont give food in boxes to go but after insisting the waiter said ok. ?? Box cost 30 cents maybe? The padron peppers were oversalted for my personal taste but my friend enjoyed them. Cocktail was great and so was cava. Overall, food mid, drinks good, atmosphere good and the staff good ( mainly ). I would not call this place a restaurant tho. So for drinks and something to bite sure, come, but for anything ‘more serious’, I’d go to another place. My biggest confusion will be the fact that this place is on the michelin guide because the food is not worth it

Tuvimos un tiempo maravilloso en Tapisco, aunque ten en cuenta que este no es tu típico local de tapas estilo casero. Se ha elevado más al extremo de la buena comida. El personal es fantástico; muy amable y servicial. La carta de vinos está repleta de etiquetas españolas, como era de esperar. Fue una agradable sorpresa ver algunas opciones de jerez fino en el menú también. La comida es muy buena. Lo que más nos gustó fueron las anchoas, el manchego añejo, las costillas deshuesadas y, por supuesto, el jamón ibérico. Puedo ver cómo esto podría ser un gran lugar regular.

We had a wonderful time at Tapisco, though be advised this is not your typical home-style tapas joint. It has been elevated more to the fine dining end. The staff are terrific; very friendly and accommodating. The wine list is extensively packed with Spanish labels, as expected. It was a pleasant surprise to see some fine sherry options on the menu as well. The food is very good. The items we really enjoyed were the anchovies, aged manchego, boneless spareribs and of course, the Iberico ham. I can see how this could be a great regular haunt.

Nice place close to the heart of The Hague, the menu is wide enough to find something for everyone, when the weather improves it will be ideal outside and the atmosphere will be even better.

Food was good overall, tried the cod, the gambas salad, patatas bravas and crab soup. The dessert menu could have more choices.

Nice place, but it is disturbing that the staff does not speak Dutch (at least some of them) and keep coming by endlessly to ask if you want to order something. At least greeting in Dutch would be more pleasant.

Excellent restaurant in a beautiful setting, tapas are of high quality. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. 1 major negative is the following: We had a gift voucher for Euro 150.00 and the two of us ate for Euro 100.00, the remainder of the voucher could no longer be written out on a new voucher for next time, I had to just pick out a bottle of wine to take with you. Very weak and actually a bit sad.

However, more engagement from the serving staff would enhance the overall dining experience. Additionally, while the atmosphere is inviting, the seating could be more comfortable. Despite these minor details, it was an enjoyable and memorable evening for food enthusiasts. Tapisco delivers on its promise of quality and style, making it a dining destination worth revisiting.

Nice restaurant with tasty dishes! We had a great time during our visit to Tapisco. Ordered 2 dishes from each item on the menu and also a dessert with coffee. Bottle of wine and bottle of water. I thought €230 was a good price! Staff, most English speaking, were friendly and professional. One dish was very disappointing, while on the menu this dish seemed really great to me. Unfortunately, the performance was less tasty. I thought the atmosphere in the restaurant was sleek and somewhat businesslike. The heater could also have been turned on a bit, it was a bit chilly. Nevertheless, I absolutely recommend Tapisco to eat because of the tasty dishes and really nice wines!

Hospitality at Restaurant Tapisco: Not on the menu New Year's Eve December 31, 2024 On New Year's Eve, making a reservation for a drink in a restaurant/bar in The Hague is essential and you know that the closing time is 10:00 PM. I fully understand this arrangement and I made a reservation for a drink at the bar at Tapisco on December 28. I soon received confirmation by telephone and in writing, which was very nice. During the telephone conversation I indicated that we might arrive a little later due to Sjaak Bral's New Year's Eve conference in Theater Diligentia. The conference ran a little late and we arrived at 9:10 PM, just ten minutes after our stated time of 8:45-9:00 PM. However, upon entering we were immediately treated unfriendly by restaurant manager Shayan. He pointedly stated that we were too late and that there was no room left, while there were visibly several tables and also a seat at the bar available. My explanation about the delay and the reservation was bluntly cut short. Shayan said aggressively, “No, you have to leave because you are late.” When I later tried to start the conversation again, I was once again told in a fierce tone: “There's the door!” This unkind treatment was not the first negative experience with Shayan; an incident two years ago came to mind. It can happen once and the quality of the food made up for all the other times, but this evening unfortunately confirmed that hospitality at Tapisco is hard to find. Conclusion: Tapisco may profile itself as a hospitable restaurant, but that is completely negated by the attitude and tone of their manager. A big disappointment.

Op oudejaarsavond met een reservering , 10 minuten later dan gepland, het restaurant ingestapt ivm met het uitlopen van een voorstelling. Door Shayan, mede-eigenaar, allesbehalve vriendelijk ontvangen. Het woord onbeschoft durf ik wel in mijn mond te nemen in dit geval. Wij werden letterlijk naar de uitgang verwezen. Na deze ervaring is Tapisco een klant armer. Zo ga je niet met klanten om.

From the olives and almonds of the aperitif to the tapas and wines, everything is delicious. Attentive service.

Had a very good meal at Tapisco. At first glance we were a bit overwhelmed by the menu, because it is very extensive. The food comes relatively quickly and was really tasty. Portions are ok, not too big. It's not cheap, count on 100pp minimum if you don't do anything crazy. We highly recommended the boneless ribs. The only point for improvement/suggestion would be to offer more different white and red wine by the glass.
