Very tasty! Prices are a bit higher, but the portions are also much larger. I do believe that a chicken dish costing €30 should include rice... unfortunately, you have to order that separately for €4.50. The service was very friendly and attentive!

Unlike the small portions at typical roast meat restaurants, Pan's Kitchen offers a generous serving size. While the prices are a bit higher, the portions are incredibly generous. The owner and staff are very friendly and can speak Mandarin. My colleague often eats here and is always remembered, which shows how much he loves it. I've eaten here twice myself, and both experiences have been great; the flavors are very authentic. I highly recommend trying it. We even took some leftover platter back to the hotel to enjoy with drinks.

From the street, it looks like an ordinary Chinese restaurant. Located in a working-class neighborhood, once inside, you are welcomed personally and very warmly; you can specify your preferences, and you get the best beef stew you can get at a Chinese restaurant—truly bizarrely good. Tenderloin with a honey sauce, black beans, and pepper; do yourself a favor and go eat here, it is always packed, and they are really enjoying themselves! Chefs from other restaurants come here to eat after their shifts, even Michelin-starred chefs, and people who know about it come back here every time. With a special mention for the host; what positive energy this man has, super nice 👍

Extremely expensive! A plate of stir-fried beef noodles cost 26 euros, and half a Peking duck cost 37 euros. Just those two items plus a bottle of water totaled 72 euros! They even charged extra for takeout.

We were helped and served by very kind staff. The food was a large potion and they let us take some home. It was tasty, plenty of options.

Go, you won't regret it. This is a place where chefs of all the good Amsterdam places eat after their shifts. Dishes seem expensive but the main portions are so big, they can easily be shared by 2.

Amazing! We walked in at 11:00 PM, the whole place was packed. We were able to get a seat and wanted to order something, but the wait staff (I think the owner) advised us to order something else, and it was delicious. A birthday was being celebrated in a big way at another table. Truly a super atmosphere, super food, and genuine service. We will definitely be back.

I've been eating salt and pepper squid for over a decade, from overseas to Hong Kong and Guangdong (farmhouses, chain restaurants, private kitchens), and I've never had such soggy salt and pepper squid. Considering its mid-range price, we packed some to take home to avoid waste. The bitter melon was incredibly bitter, as if it hadn't been blanched in salt or water beforehand. The Peking duck, iced lemon tea, and milk tea were good; the three-piece combo was average.

At this point in my life, 80% of my dinners in Amsterdam was in Taste of Culture. With a vast menu you can come many many time, as I did, and always be surprised with the flavors and kindness of the people. I hope to come back more many many times, special cheers for being open late night.

Food was great. Each dish quantity enough for 2-3 pax. Service was quick efficient. I love that they have both Chinese n English/Dutch menus. Place is clean and tidy. Ah, also their homemade chilli oil; Power Siah!

I ate here years ago; recently it became all the rage as the place where Chinese chefs themselves come to eat. So, for me, it was time to give it another chance. It's nice that you can reserve online, and the service is fast and friendly. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The shrimp toast was soft, not crispy, and there wasn't a single shrimp to be seen. The Hakau didn't seem fresh or had been steamed for too long. And the roasted pork belly looked deep-fried. And all this for prices that surpass the best Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam. For me, it's not worth the hype.

Best meal in Amsterdam by far. Duck was amazingly juicy, chicken was great, pork delicious. The spicy soup and squid amazing. The shrimps buns soooooo good. Make a reservation if possible, if not work with the time they make for your party if possible. Soooo worth it.

Very very lucky and random gem at 11pm in central Amsterdam ! Super friendly staff, very good food (get the Hong Kong chicken), and huge portions. The staff was honest to tell us to order less. Go go go

We went on a Saturday night with beautiful weather and a full house. We were lucky they were able to seat us without a reservation, I would recommend making one if you plan on going during a busy time. The menu is massive and so are the portions sizes. Food was absolutely delicious, especially the dumplings. The staff were friendly and the service very quick despite having so many tables. If you are not super familiar with Chinese food be aware that the menu can seem confusing - some translations are the exact same for different dishes so if you don’t know the Chinese name it can be hard to tell what you’ll get. Overall, we had a great dinner and are happy to come back.

Flavours are stunnin. Ambiance on the terrace is warm and welcoming. The service… Michael, who we had the pleasure to be our waiter, provided more than an exceptional service. Kind, attentive and radiating very good vibes, not only to us but also for the table around us. Can only recommend! THE PLACE TO GO IN AMSTERDAM FOR AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD!!!!

Taste of Culture is the kind of restaurant where you walk in hungry and walk out with a new philosophy of life: namely, that real Chinese cuisine exists, and that it is located in Amsterdam. The menu reads like a love letter to taste. Authentic dishes that make choosing seriously difficult – and if you have to choose: go for the **Hong Kong Chicken** or the **Peking Duck**. The latter, by the way, is reason enough to officially postpone your diet until next month. The restaurant is actually always full, which, frankly, is the best review system in the world. The service is warm and attentive, but special honorable mention goes to the male host: this man has the energy of three espressos and the charm of a diplomat. He turns every guest into a regular, and every evening into a small event. And the best part? They are open late. So that hungry attack at 10:30 PM after a night out? Solved here, *with* Peking Duck. In short: come for the food, stay for the hospitality, go home with a belly full of happiness. 鸭鸭 forever.

Chefs (and yes, even Michelin chefs) eat here when they are off duty. That says enough, I think. One of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. The food is delicious and feels like a warm blanket. The service is truly fantastic. Everyone on the staff is super sociable and makes sure you feel welcome right away. It is lovely to just eat here in the evening, but the best experience remains when you’ve had a few drinks and come here around 11:00 PM for an extended dinner with friends. I have experienced some of the most beautiful moments of my life here. Because it is such a joy to share these delicious dishes with the people you love.

Excellent Chinese restaurant...the best in my opinion. Fantastic food quality. I recommend the oysters, the glazed duck, the spicy beef, and the flavorful rice. A special mention goes to Mrs. Linda...she's like a daughter to me.

One of THE go-to's of me and my friends. The food is great across the board and it is always a vibe, wether we are a small group or 10+ people!

Decent food, with mains that are large enough to share between two or three people. But they are pricey. Overall, good food. Unfortunately, it is the loudest place I’ve ever eaten in, and I’m from a big city. The kitchen is noisy. We could hear dishes clanging. There were also several large groups dining at the same time, and just as they left, another group of around 15 people arrived, for an office celebration. The most obnoxious diners, we've experienced - they made football hooligans seem quiet! They were so loud, other diners were visibly rolling their eyes. Thanks to them we cut our dinner short and left. If you have sensory sensitivities or struggle with loud environments, avoid this place.

Had a delicious meal at The Taste of Culture. The food was top-notch and the portions were large. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. It was busy and there was a noisy table, but the restaurant can't do much about that. Definitely recommended, I will be back!

Everyone hyped this place as “authentic Hong Kong food.” It’s not. #takeaway Eggplant and beef noodles were drowning in oil. Sweet and sour pork was overcooked and mushy. We ate it within 5 minutes, no excuse. Just greasy, poorly executed food. Spent 130 euros. Not coming back. What a shame.

The food is great, and the service is very quick and efficient. Dumplings, duck, chicken, shrimp—everything we tried at this restaurant was delicious. The restaurant is very tightly packed, and the tables are placed very close to each other, so it was a bit inconvenient to get in and out during both our visits. But the food is so good that everything else is secondary.

What a discovery! I ordered the flat noodles and they were some of the best I've ever tasted. The portions are very generous, perfect for a truly satisfying meal. The service was impeccable, with attentive and smiling waiters, and the restaurant has a really pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend this place if you love Chinese food!

It’s a lovely spot for Chinese cuisine, offering a great atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service. Importantly, it’s also kid-friendly — children enjoy it too (Chinese kip noodles, loempia’s/spring rolls and rice are their favourites)

Their food, especially the duck and salt and pepper chicken, is excellent! They work hard and are always friendly. It's just a shame that the noise is always so loud (especially on weekends) because of all the customers and the commotion. You can't just sit down and eat and chat, because here you have to shout at your tablemates so they can hear you. I don't know why it's so common in this restaurant. I haven't experienced this before in other restaurants.

Sure it’s cantonese cuisine but it’s BEYOND overpriced for the portions and quality they serve! Their dim sum is clearly from the freezer but they ask premium prices 😂 I do not recommend.

I hadn't eaten lunch and wanted a decent meal, but I got utterly disappointed. I ordered Chinese-style beef tenderloin, but what I received was a sweet and sour steak. I could actually eat steak, but the problem was that it was cut into pieces of vastly different sizes, and the beef was practically raw. After one piece, I couldn't take it anymore. When I called the waitress, a Chinese woman in her thirties deliberately avoided me, as if she knew something was wrong. She finally came over after I stood up. She kept explaining that this is how Chinese-style beef tenderloin is served in the Netherlands. This completely shattered my worldview; there was absolutely no respect. She explained that their method is to serve it in large chunks, and that I should have asked beforehand—this was utter nonsense. Two more women came later, one a manager and the other the owner? They gave me the same explanation. Finally, they offered to replace it with black pepper beef tenderloin. But clearly, they didn't know how to cook beef properly, because I again received raw beef. They could have at least asked me how well-done I wanted my beef. Although Amsterdam is more expensive, almost 40 euros for this kind of quality was an insult. This is my cultural experience :) Right now, I'm just praying my stomach doesn't give me any problems, otherwise I'll definitely resort to legal means.

Amazing!!! Just amazing! The best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever visited. Food, atmosphere, everything was just perfect. The restaurant was fully booked, so reserving a table beforehand is a must.

Might be one of the best places I’ve been in the Netherlands in my 5 years here. Really flavourful and authentic food. Also super attentive and sweet staff. The duck was incredibly crispy and spicy beef was delicious if you can handle the spice. It’s also truly spicy, no flavour toned down.

The dinner was phenomenal, as always. The setting has its own charm and is simply excellent. The staff works incredibly hard and efficiently to manage the apparent chaos, which miraculously succeeds. It's a shame that the clientele has changed in recent years, and we regularly had noisy groups in the restaurant, sometimes making it hard to hear or see. But we will definitely be back, and we hope for a quiet evening.

Crazy busy and it's a tight squeeze at this popular Chinese restaurant. The food was excellent and the prices reasonable, which must be why it's so popular!

We were immediately offered an expensive dish, which we accepted after much deliberation. The young man in question left shortly afterward. When we pointed out it was far too much, another server suggested we could take it home. Then we saw half our meal end up on the floor because it was dumped into a container that only holds about a third. The bag broke immediately upon leaving. This was suitable for take-home dining. They clearly didn't want to consider us. Soups cost €25 each. When I pointed this out while paying, they laughed in our faces. Never again.

Beware! Seem to be a "friendly" owner, but they maybe do not know what a Peking duck really is. Instead of filets, or crunchy red skin, they served typical chinese low quality meat fragmants for ca. 30,- The rice is not included(!) with an extra cost of 4,50; a bottle of water 8,50 Euros. 3 tasteless mini spring-rolls maybe out of the fridge 10,50. It's a simple chinese place and low food at higher prices.

A downgrade for what used to be one of our favorite restos. Tiktok popularity has led to overcrowding, and younger less discerning clientele. The signature duck dish has seen a price surge from 55 eur to 99 eur, way above inflation. Other dishes generally mediocre and expensive. The resto has lost its original price quality status, and become another social media victim. Jammer.

The service here is truly fantastic. We ordered a variety of dishes to try everything. The Hong Kong beef was one of the tastiest, along with the duck in lemon sauce. We found the sweet and sour chicken a bit lacking compared to other restaurants. Definitely worth eating here, especially the beef and duck dishes!

By far the best Chinese in the city. It’s truly hard to find a place that hits this good in Amsterdam. Service is excellent, staff is friendly, ambiance is what you are looking for, and food is amazing.

Delicious. Classic, authentic dishes that are executed far better than you're used to. The duck is brilliant (beautifully creamy meat with crispy, wonderfully marinated skin), and the steak in black bean sauce is rich, deep, and served piping hot with crunchy vegetables. It all works perfectly. The owner is a wonderful guy. He's passionate about the product and his guests.

Food is quite good. Especially the typical Cantonese dishes. We had to wait for 20 minutes despite a reservation, so not sure if that's necessary. Staff was friendly and helped us quickly. Restaurant is very crowded and you can barely hear eachother talk.

The clay pot rice was delicious, but the service was slow. We ordered two clay pot rice dishes with a side of green vegetables. The owner was quite welcoming, but the service would have been better with an extra person. However, the value for money wasn't great. With a per-person price range of 3-40 euros, the dining environment and food weren't particularly outstanding, leaving a flaw.

Really authentic canton dishes. Friendly service and great vibe. Specially the iced lemon tea was hit the spot. I would rate 10/10.

The roasted duck is honestly impressive. Ordered roasted duck & crispy pork belly combo. As said, the duck is extraordinary. The seasoning is great, the skin remains crispy for a long time, the meat is juicy & absorbs the seasoning well. I was quite surprised at how good the duck was. The pork belly on the other hand could be a lot better. The meaty part was hard & tough. The skin crispiness was a bit lacking. To me, it looks like the pork belly came from an older batch. It’s very likely refried to make the skin crispy again, but this comes at the cost of the meat getting hard & tough. It was my first time there, but the duck surely makes me want to come again.

Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The menu is nice, with plenty of choice, but the dishes have become very expensive and the quality is very poor. The flavors are lacking, and unfortunately, they're bland and salty.

The Peking duck, sweet and sour pork, and spicy abalone are super delicious! The cured meat clay pot rice is also delicious and highly recommended! 😋😋

Probably only locals know that this place serves one of the best roast ducks in Amsterdam! especially the crispiness of the skin!! you will definitely come back for it

Good food but the noise level is a bit too high

A favorite for years and still a winner!! I still love the garlicky vegetables, the famous Peking duck with pancakes, and the chicken in Hong Kong sauce is amazing. Make sure to specify if you don't want it too spicy. Go early, as it gets incredibly busy and you'll have to wait. Reservations are a must.

The best authentic Chinese in Amsterdam

There were a lot of people, many locals also went there, a little disappointed because the high price seemed to be able to eat a better standard. The meat of the double combination tasted okay, the roast meat was very long and big, and it was easy to eat woody, the oil chicken was like braised meat steak, and the tofu of the eight-treasure stew was tofu puff... But the ingredients were quite enough, the clay pot rice was just mediocre, there was no rice crust at the bottom, it was more like a dip in the pot, haha, the service was not bad

The beef fried rice is really delicious, but the portion is crazy. (Two people can eat just the fried rice and be full) When I first ordered, I didn't know how much to order, so I tried to order some dumplings, but the staff kindly advised me to try them first to decide since the portions were large. And the chili oil is also really good👍

We had a great experience at this Chinese restaurant! The food was served very quickly and everything we ordered was delicious. The highlight for me was definitely the Hong Kong Chicken and the Pak Choi, absolutely amazing! I highly recommend making a reservation, as the place can get quite busy. Will definitely come back!

I haven’t been there in a while, and it seems like not much has changed. The food is good and the staff is friendly.

We visited this restaurant earlier this week. While the food was generally good and several staff members were friendly and professional, our overall experience was affected by one disturbing incident. One of the servers (a round-faced Asian woman in her 30s or 40s) displayed noticeably rude behavior toward our table (we are Asian guests). Her tone was curt and dismissive throughout the service. What made it particularly confusing and upsetting was that the other servers were very kind and welcoming, and we noticed that this particular server treated non-Asian (especially white) guests with noticeably more respect and warmth. We sincerely hope this wasn’t a case of internalized bias or some form of discriminatory behavior. This review is not meant as a complaint for the sake of it, yet we hope the management takes this seriously. Behavior that appears to reflect bias, whether intentional or not, can have a lasting impact on customers’ experience.

Authentic Chinese food, but way too overpriced. Additionally, very poor customer service, lots of personnel talking, standing and walking around but non paying attention when you want to order. The atmosphere and acoustic inside are extremely bad, very noisy and lousy to the point you can barely hear yourself talk. Would not recommend unless you’re really hungry and looking for something to eat at midnight.
