Crazy busy and it's a tight squeeze at this popular Chinese restaurant. The food was excellent and the prices reasonable, which must be why it's so popular!

Words fail to describe it. Go inside and experience it for yourself.

We were immediately offered an expensive dish, which we accepted after much deliberation. The young man in question left shortly afterward. When we pointed out it was far too much, another server suggested we could take it home. Then we saw half our meal end up on the floor because it was dumped into a container that only holds about a third. The bag broke immediately upon leaving. This was suitable for take-home dining. They clearly didn't want to consider us. Soups cost €25 each. When I pointed this out while paying, they laughed in our faces. Never again.

Beware! Seem to be a "friendly" owner, but they maybe do not know what a Peking duck really is. Instead of filets, or crunchy red skin, they served typical chinese low quality meat fragmants for ca. 30,- The rice is not included(!) with an extra cost of 4,50; a bottle of water 8,50 Euros. 3 tasteless mini spring-rolls maybe out of the fridge 10,50. It's a simple chinese place and low food at higher prices.

A downgrade for what used to be one of our favorite restos. Tiktok popularity has led to overcrowding, and younger less discerning clientele. The signature duck dish has seen a price surge from 55 eur to 99 eur, way above inflation. Other dishes generally mediocre and expensive. The resto has lost its original price quality status, and become another social media victim. Jammer.

The service here is truly fantastic. We ordered a variety of dishes to try everything. The Hong Kong beef was one of the tastiest, along with the duck in lemon sauce. We found the sweet and sour chicken a bit lacking compared to other restaurants. Definitely worth eating here, especially the beef and duck dishes!

By far the best Chinese in the city. It’s truly hard to find a place that hits this good in Amsterdam. Service is excellent, staff is friendly, ambiance is what you are looking for, and food is amazing.

Delicious. Classic, authentic dishes that are executed far better than you're used to. The duck is brilliant (beautifully creamy meat with crispy, wonderfully marinated skin), and the steak in black bean sauce is rich, deep, and served piping hot with crunchy vegetables. It all works perfectly. The owner is a wonderful guy. He's passionate about the product and his guests.

Food is quite good. Especially the typical Cantonese dishes. We had to wait for 20 minutes despite a reservation, so not sure if that's necessary. Staff was friendly and helped us quickly. Restaurant is very crowded and you can barely hear eachother talk.

Delicious food, great service, good advice, clean, and cozy at the large round table. Taste of Culture opens at 5:30 PM and is already quite full by 5:45 PM, but you can also come for the second round.

One of the best places in Amsterdam for delicious Chinese food. It's usually busy and noisy, but the Hong Kong beef, among other dishes, will keep you coming back!

The clay pot rice was delicious, but the service was slow. We ordered two clay pot rice dishes with a side of green vegetables. The owner was quite welcoming, but the service would have been better with an extra person. However, the value for money wasn't great. With a per-person price range of 3-40 euros, the dining environment and food weren't particularly outstanding, leaving a flaw.

The roasted duck is honestly impressive. Ordered roasted duck & crispy pork belly combo. As said, the duck is extraordinary. The seasoning is great, the skin remains crispy for a long time, the meat is juicy & absorbs the seasoning well. I was quite surprised at how good the duck was. The pork belly on the other hand could be a lot better. The meaty part was hard & tough. The skin crispiness was a bit lacking. To me, it looks like the pork belly came from an older batch. It’s very likely refried to make the skin crispy again, but this comes at the cost of the meat getting hard & tough. It was my first time there, but the duck surely makes me want to come again.

Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The menu is nice, with plenty of choice, but the dishes have become very expensive and the quality is very poor. The flavors are lacking, and unfortunately, they're bland and salty.

The Peking duck, sweet and sour pork, and spicy abalone are super delicious! The cured meat clay pot rice is also delicious and highly recommended! 😋😋

Probably only locals know that this place serves one of the best roast ducks in Amsterdam! especially the crispiness of the skin!! you will definitely come back for it

Good food but the noise level is a bit too high

A favorite for years and still a winner!! I still love the garlicky vegetables, the famous Peking duck with pancakes, and the chicken in Hong Kong sauce is amazing. Make sure to specify if you don't want it too spicy. Go early, as it gets incredibly busy and you'll have to wait. Reservations are a must.

The best authentic Chinese in Amsterdam

There were a lot of people, many locals also went there, a little disappointed because the high price seemed to be able to eat a better standard. The meat of the double combination tasted okay, the roast meat was very long and big, and it was easy to eat woody, the oil chicken was like braised meat steak, and the tofu of the eight-treasure stew was tofu puff... But the ingredients were quite enough, the clay pot rice was just mediocre, there was no rice crust at the bottom, it was more like a dip in the pot, haha, the service was not bad

The beef fried rice is really delicious, but the portion is crazy. (Two people can eat just the fried rice and be full) When I first ordered, I didn't know how much to order, so I tried to order some dumplings, but the staff kindly advised me to try them first to decide since the portions were large. And the chili oil is also really good👍

We had a great experience at this Chinese restaurant! The food was served very quickly and everything we ordered was delicious. The highlight for me was definitely the Hong Kong Chicken and the Pak Choi, absolutely amazing! I highly recommend making a reservation, as the place can get quite busy. Will definitely come back!

I’ve always had great and beautiful memories at this restaurant. After a night out in Amsterdam, it was one of the few places where you could still get a good meal late in the evening. I haven’t been there in a while, and it seems like not much has changed. The food is good and the staff is friendly.

We visited this restaurant earlier this week. While the food was generally good and several staff members were friendly and professional, our overall experience was affected by one disturbing incident. One of the servers (a round-faced Asian woman in her 30s or 40s) displayed noticeably rude behavior toward our table (we are Asian guests). Her tone was curt and dismissive throughout the service. What made it particularly confusing and upsetting was that the other servers were very kind and welcoming, and we noticed that this particular server treated non-Asian (especially white) guests with noticeably more respect and warmth. We sincerely hope this wasn’t a case of internalized bias or some form of discriminatory behavior. This review is not meant as a complaint for the sake of it, yet we hope the management takes this seriously. Behavior that appears to reflect bias, whether intentional or not, can have a lasting impact on customers’ experience.

Authentic Chinese food, but way too overpriced. Additionally, very poor customer service, lots of personnel talking, standing and walking around but non paying attention when you want to order. The atmosphere and acoustic inside are extremely bad, very noisy and lousy to the point you can barely hear yourself talk. Would not recommend unless you’re really hungry and looking for something to eat at midnight.

Friendly service, but not present. Big menu and the staff were very helpful to guide us through. Not much options for drinks, but it goes well with the food regardless your preference (beer there’s two options). Lack dessert options. Overall, we will be back! Love the opening time.

The most delicious Chinese restaurant in the world. At first, I got recommended by local Dutch and had a chance to visit it here without any particular expectation. When I first stepped into the place where lots of Dutch were indulging in the authentic chinese food and had a full spoon of egg fried rice, I had to admit the hard push to this by local Dutch. Highly recommend this restaurant to those who would like to experience real one from HK.

Service is great, but 100% avoid if you're vegetarian.

There is always a wait because of the good food. But food comes out fresh and made to order.

Rarely do you find a Chinese restaurant that hits this good. We ordered multiple dishes and each were fantastic. In fact, we went back a second night to order and try the dishes we saw being hustled to other tables in the restaurant. I highly recommend the Hong Kong Beef, the Singapore Noodles and the Hot and Sour soup. My only regret is not having another night to be able to go back. Will definitely visit Amsterdam again, just to eat here. 💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great restaurant and excellent service

It's like sitting in an authentic Chinese restaurant somewhere in Shanghai. You would easily walk past it, it doesn't look inviting from the outside but then....! At 18:00 it was already fairly full, for an hour it was packed. You sit close together and you have to rely mainly on the extensive choice of excellent Chinese dishes. We had a delicious meal. The service is smooth and friendly.

Food here is delicious and reasonably priced for Amsterdam city center. Can definitely recommend the kip cashew and Peking Duck. Service is also very quick and friendly! *make a reservation in advance there was a line outside and all tables were occupied

I recently visited this Chinese restaurant, and while the food was absolutely delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was a bit too chaotic for my taste. The place was packed, and the noise level was quite high, with people talking and laughing loudly, making it feel a bit overwhelming at times. If you’re looking for a lively spot with great food, this is definitely a good choice. However, if you’re planning a romantic dinner or a quiet evening with your partner, this might not be the best option.

I had an amazing experience at Taste of Culture! The claypot rice was flavorful and perfectly cooked, with a delightful mix of ingredients. The crispy bottom layer was a highlight! The staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic claypot rice!

Fantastic traditional dining and friendly atmosphere. Have enjoyed the selection here with small and large groups of 20ppl and it never disappoints.

Ordered starters. 2 times scallops. Took them over half an hour. Two tables after us got there full meals. Roasted duck, fried rice and two other side dishes. I think when I looked at a waitress she said it was coming. When it finally arrived nobody cared to asked us about our main courses. I had to go up to the counter and order. To expensive for this kinda service.

After an evening at Leidseplein and Holland Casino, we found the menu not sufficiently nourishing and especially the chip shop. I also had this restaurant on my list after an article I read. About how chefs from surrounding restaurants like to eat there because it is also open late. We had a delicious meal there, the Chinese brokkolie in garlic, the noodles with fried egg and the mixed meat platter were delicious. It was worth the wait, reservations were not possible and at half past ten we were waiting there for a maximum of 20 minutes, where already seated visitors left and were able to join the queue at once. Food arrived quickly and hot. We will definitely come there again.

Starving and iching to be full? Craving that savory umami? Can’t remember the last time you had good dim sum? Look no further. The prices may seem high but your going to be delivered an absolute feast. Duck is a must and I highly recommend the morning glory with garlic. Enjoy! And don’t forget to make a reservation (or come early!)

The big advantage of this place is the opening hours, but otherwise it was a bit disappointing. The service doesn't seem to have much interest in it, even by Amsterdam standards. We ordered half a duck - we got about a quarter of a duck, with the other quarter still having the skin but the meat gone underneath, perhaps for another dish. The Cantonese fried rice was also not prepared in an authentic way and was disappointing, according to my group who lived there for years. Even though it is all quite expensive. We were rushed when ordering, while fifteen minutes later they let in a drunken group of 20 people. I hope this place gets some more competition at late hours!

The duck dish has only skin. The service is very bad. The waitress is not polite at all. Noisy environment. The dish is expensive and tastes bad. The half duck ordered was almost all duck skin. The claypot rice is not authentic, the service attitude of the waiters is extremely bad, not polite at all, the environment is very noisy, and Chinese people need to be protected from lightning.

I have been eating Beijing duck since I was little, and I try to find the best worldwide. I just came back from a trip to Shanghai, where I ate their authentic duck at the Dadong IAMP Mall restaurant (1* Michelin). After my first visit to Taste of Culture, that trip seems a bit unnecessary 😉. A fantastic family restaurant with simply the best duck I have ever eaten. No pretentious atmosphere around the duck, or mandatory stir-fry dishes when ordering a duck - no, only the good stuff. The stuffed crab legs and the various dumplings are also fantastic, especially paired with some vinegar. I have already come back 4 times in 1 month. Hats off to this fantastic business and its employees.

A household name in Amsterdam when it comes to Chinese food. It is therefore no wonder that many chefs have this restaurant on their list. The Beijing duck and oysters in black bean sauce are highly recommended to start with! Other than that you can order whatever you want, because so far everything I've eaten there has been delicious. The service is very friendly and helpful, even when it's packed. In short, highly recommended!

Just went here again after 8 years. It's the same great food. Love the Peking duck, and the spicy soups. I'm only in Amsterdam once a month, but this is going to be a regular stop again.

The food here is exceptionally great! Original Chinese food and so much variety. There is no better Chinese restaurant than this place. Even when people are full, they take the leftovers home. The food here is that good! We come almost every week and never get tired of it.

Owner is top class and super friendly, food was filling and delicious. Place is bustling and has a very nice atmosphere. Would recommend eyes closed if you're a fan of Asian cuisine.

I met friends here in a Thursday night at 7 pm. It’s in the heart of the Leidseplein area, but is not a tourist trap. It’s a mix between authentic Chinese and Dutch Chinese food. Service is so friendly and authentic too. One of us dropped a chopstick on the floor and a waiter brought a new pair over before we asked. Amazing. Food was soooo tasty. Oh my. I highly recommend this place. The room is a big square with some nice art work. The tables are close and it’s loud, and not intimate. But I look forward to returning.

I am Asian myself but unfortunately their food quality has dropped drastically in past few years. For some dishes, they are bad quality frozen food. But still, u easily pay 50-60 euros per person. Always overcrowded with super loud people. Sad to see this happen
