We had a wonderful time sitting outside with delicious pear wine and of course the sushi dishes, not to be forgotten

I've always been here, but I won't be back because of a very disappointing experience. The staff comes every minute to take the plates. A friend of ours had just started a lamb chop, and the sauce was already being removed. The first time we laughed it off, but it happened four or five times. The reservation started at 8:00 PM for two hours, and at 9:30 PM the staff came to announce the last round. At 9:35 PM, you're already being forced to leave. The staff took the menu and soy sauce from the table and kept asking if they could take the plates away. A terrible experience.

Had a delicious meal, had taken all you can eat, but we didn't know that we had to pay extra for sashimi and dessert. The waiter had to clearly explain to us that some dishes had to be paid extra. We thought yes all you can eat, but not really, so that's a shame.

On Saturday, November 8th, at 4:00 PM, I ate at Tatsu 1 in Haarlem. I unfortunately have to write a bad review. The first round of ordering went wrong, as dishes didn't arrive after a 20-minute wait. The next round, even in that round, things went wrong, and some dishes didn't arrive. This continued throughout the entire dinner. I also ordered drinks, which also didn't arrive! However, the receipt was brought with an incorrect bill because it included drinks that never arrived. Very poor, for the price they charge, they need to provide better service! I won't be back. P.S. Perhaps hire more staff if the pressure is too much!

I made a reservation here yesterday, but unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to postpone it. Without consulting us, they gave us a table outside, even though it was 8°C and the patio heaters left much to be desired. The only option the restaurant offered us was to wait over an hour for a table to become available, while the overpriced parking meter in Haarlem kept running. It wasn't possible to start outside and go in later because "the system wouldn't allow it." As if your system were my problem! Tatsu didn't even offer an apology or a small compensation. That could have made up for a lot, but according to them, it was just the system, and they assumed we had made our reservation outside. For context: we only received confirmation that we would be seated outside when we were already on our way—without our coats—because we were supposed to park around the corner and walk straight in. Although the food was excellent, the service was very disappointing. I therefore expect this review to be taken seriously, otherwise I will choose a different restaurant next time, and I advise you, the reader of this review, to do the same.

The Food was amazing and came really quickly every round. The Service was great as well. All in all it was a very nice experience and I would highly recommend it.

Great place for all in sushi. Drinks are not inclusive so keep in mind that you pay for every drink. Toilets are on the first floor so this tatsu is not a right fit for people with bad legs or other disabilities. Better then to got tatsu 2.

My favorite sushi restaurant. I can't even count on two hands how many times I've been here. It feels like a busy Saturday night every night, because there are always people there to enjoy their delicious sushi. Besides a wide variety of sushi dishes, they also have grilled dishes that even the littlest ones can enjoy. When I have friends visiting from far away, I love taking them to Tatsu to sample the most delicious sushi!

The best all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant I've been to, fresh and delicious fish. The fish and meat nigiri was excellent, salmon and tuna sashimi were very good. The rolls were less good for our taste. Good price per person 48 euros for the whole menu and the waitress was sweet Recommend😊

Maybe we were just unlucky today; that can happen, of course. Unfortunately, the sushi itself was truly disappointing. If you enjoy traditional Japanese dishes, even when preparing them, this doesn't make sense. As mentioned, it could be a coincidence, as I'm seeing a lot of positive reviews. Let's hope so.

While the selection is sufficient, I've seen more variety at other sushi restaurants – even at lunchtime. The sushi and fried dishes I tried were very tasty. However, edamame and most desserts require an extra charge, which I find a bit disappointing. The male servers were very friendly. Unfortunately, the young lady serving seemed very disinterested and listless – especially when she was busy on her phone while working. Even when I said goodbye after paying, there was no response. Overall, a mixed impression: good food, but service could be improved.

Still a great place. I ate here a while ago and again recently. No difference in quality. Sometimes a dish wasn't prepared perfectly, but that happens. But overall, it's still one of the better sushi restaurants.

My partner and I had a wonderful meal. It's a shame that non-alcoholic drinks are included in the price, otherwise it would have been great! They could, however, offer a wider selection of sushi in the non-deluxe option. The service and atmosphere were excellent and fast.

Had an unexpected dinner here. We were able to make a reservation at the last minute. The food was delicious, everything was fresh, the service was excellent, and the staff was friendly. The only point I'd like to make is that they should have a "first come, first served" policy. I understand they don't want to disappoint, but it would enhance the atmosphere even more. We had a truly delicious meal and were very satisfied.

We were here with a large group. Then they completely lost track and a lot of things went wrong with orders. The food was good, but very salty. That's why you end up buying drinks.

We had a lovely afternoon with the ladies on the terrace. The atmosphere was great, and we were able to enjoy the delicious food within a short time. It's a shame you have to pay extra for soybeans now.

I'd never had such disgusting sushi as this one. The nori was incredibly tough and poorly prepared. We were served appetizers we hadn't ordered. The last round arrived, but we were allowed to stay, as there was still an hour until closing time. Then, after fifteen minutes, the lights were turned off and the canopy was being tampered with, giving us the impression they wanted to get rid of all the customers on the terrace. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Truly awful.

We always came here when we were in Haarlem. Something to look forward to for lunch. This time it was so disappointing that we won't be doing it again. + The welcome was super friendly, the girl who showed us to the table was very nice! + The food came quickly. + Open from 12:00. - The food was really bad! The sushi with fried shrimp was very bad. (Always my favorite.) The shrimp was terribly hard (especially the breadcrumbs) and just cold. I think it was from yesterday. I tried it twice, and both times the shrimp was very hard and cold. - The squid was so incredibly tough it was impossible to chew! I had to spit it out after trying for a while. - You have to pay extra for dessert. Only a steamed sweet bun was included. I spit that out too. Bone dry. - Besides the fried shrimp, they didn't have any shrimp dishes. (I don't eat meat myself, so that's a shame.) - The sushi pieces are very small and fall apart quickly. What was tasty was the sushi with shrimp eggs, seaweed, and spinach salad. I ordered that several times. (But hey, I come for the sushi.) My boyfriend is a very large man who can eat a lot, but even he quickly said, "Shall we go? It's a waste of calories I'll be consuming." A real shame. This wasn't something I'd repeat.

The table we were given wasn't clean; everything was crooked. I don't like the atmosphere. The food seemed good at first, but as the dinner went on, the dishes became increasingly tasteless and pointless. The service was terrible; we waited a long time for 1 Pepsi and 1 Sissi, then the waitress came to take away our glasses; these are supposed to be taken away only at the end of the service. Furthermore, at the end of the dinner, we ordered another Pepsi and it never arrived; we asked to cancel it. We hadn't even finished eating when the waiter came to remove the sauces from our table without asking, then went to the next table and asked if he could pick them up. This clearly seemed like a way to kick us out half an hour before closing time. I'm giving it a 0 because I would never go back, and I would never recommend it. €102 wasted. The specials were disgusting and pointless. There were two of us, and honestly, we weren't satisfied with the dinner. We also had to ask several waiters for wasabi. We're not there yet. I'm happy to pay 100 for a dinner, but only if the place is worth it. It's not even worth 20. Plus, 8 euros for a bottle of water is way too much. Plus, the table was tiny; 2 or 3 small plates were cramped.

It's as tasty as in Tatsu 2 (one menu) but I like 2 more because it's smaller and more cozy but that's just my opinion and there are no questions about the service and quality of the food here, everything is at the highest level ❤️😍

Enjoyed a delicious two-hour lunch for €28.50 excluding drinks. Sushi and teppanyaki. It's a shame you have to pay extra for the mochi.

Great food as always so we returned but during this visit with a group of friends, we felt like some of the staff were unwelcoming and very unfriendly. We felt more like an inconvenience and a burden. Pretty embarrassing on my end when I talked the restaurant up so much.

We ate at Tatsu on the outdoor terrace. The location is nice and atmospheric, with tables quite close together. Fortunately, this doesn't bother us much while eating – it remains pleasant. The sushi is tasty, although the pieces are a bit smaller than at other all-you-can-eat restaurants. Not necessarily a drawback, but it is noticeable. There's plenty of choice on the menu, so you can easily try different things. The service is fast and efficient, which is nice if you're ordering multiple rounds. All in all, a good experience, without any real standouts. Good for a casual sushi night.

The food was delicious. However, a small dish was taken from the table three times while I was still eating it (the sauce I used for dipping spring rolls or shrimp).

The service in this place absolutely sucks. Sucks so bad. If you want to have your good energy and mood demolished, then go to Tatsu. They'll do a great job for ya!

Customer for the last 5 years . Watching the portions getting smaller and smaller every year. I understand the market is difficult but increasing the price to 40euros per persons and decreasing gradually the portions to this (photos below) is not a nice experience any more. I hope it gets better.

Very delicious food. The wait between rounds was 6 minutes, and then you have to wait longer for food. We arrived at 3:30 p.m. and slipped into the dinner buffet even though we actually wanted the lunch menu. Our dessert was forgotten, and we had to wait 30 minutes for our ice cream.

Probably Tatsu is becoming emblematic for the Japanese cuisine in Holland. The food has lost its quintessential Japanese appeal. Just like the typically Dutch style Chinese/Indonesian restaurants once did. Still, more has gone wrong since this place opened under the name Sumo and later became Tatsu. Sumo was a nice and uncomplicated place to have a varied low cost Japanese lunch while shopping. Not top class Japanese food but good enough and in a pleasant atmosphere. I understand the need to economise service and production with this Tatsu low cost deal. But after yesterday the slow decline in quality has crossed a border with us. It already started wrong, the plates on the table weren't properly cleaned. I will not comment on the service because let's be fair; What personal honour is there to be had from executing computer generated orders? The sushi type dishes were , let's say, acceptable. The wasabi was just green and had no taste or punch. In general the fried dishes were greasy and overcooked with the distinct flavour of old overheated oil. After lunch I went upstairs to the restrooms, as I grabbed the hand railing, it felt really sticky. Also the floors were not cleaned. The restaurant isn't maintained any longer, it has lost its pride. For us the experience yesterday meant it was our final visit. We hope that authentic Japanese restaurants will follow authentic Chinese restaurants and join their club of Fine Eastern Restaurants. Japanese cuisine is so much more than sushi and so far, far away from the Tatsu menu.

The food was good and there’s a nice variety to choose from on the All You Can Eat menu, but the place feels a bit tight and rushed. There’s no background music, for example, so it’s not the most cozy or relaxed restaurant to have dinner at. On the other hand, for AYCE experience, quite good.

I was excited to try Tatsu because the menu was varied and had different dishes than you would normally expect for an AYCE restaurant. The price is a bit on the high side for an AYCE but I hoped that the quality would be worth the price. Unfortunately the raw fish nigiri all tasted the same/bland and the sushi rolls just had a lot of sauce to make up for the low quality ingredients. The warm dishes were also nothing special and of low quality. The whole experience was below average. Would definitely not recommend.

Food is actually always great. Not too much rice with the sushi so enough taste. Can sometimes take a bit longer when it's busy but during the day it's fine and fast service. Atmosphere is great, it depends most on who you are with. Tip: the dinner menu is also available during lunch where you have more choice.

Tatsu 1 is not suitable for a group of 21 people, so there are a number of people sitting separately, I was not pointed out to them during the reservation. Drinks are also served late, in total we spent +-€1300 for the entire group.

My daughter had a birthday and turned 9 and wanted to eat at Tatsu. Shortly after the first round was served, my son (5 years old) suddenly had to throw up. We had only ordered fries for him and he had not eaten any of them. The staff at the table was very helpful and came to look with extra napkins and a glass of water. Of course we went home. Taking our food with us was not really the intention and with some effort we got a plastic container. However, we still had to pay more than €140. I understand that they cannot do anything about my son getting sick, but a little service would have been appropriate by giving a reduced amount or a voucher with a symbolic amount. Any other restaurant would have done something like that, but then you notice that this is just a "company" where it is only about money.

Often the food was cold. They said it was because it was so busy. Last time it was the same at this Tatsu. I'll go to other places from now on.

Delicious dishes and almost all of them. It's a shame that you have to wait a long time for the order that you can only place once every 3 minutes and you have 2 hours in total! I understand that this is the concept, but we found it unpleasant, because we had to focus on the next order every time! It's also a shame that the orders were not delivered complete almost every time. Apparently they have less staff and it was very busy at that time. We did have to pay full price! You have to pay for the drinks separately, for information. In short, you are more busy with the concept than chatting with your boyfriend/girlfriend! We didn't even receive some of the dishes in the end, but oh well.. The atmosphere is certainly good, cozy. The sanitary facilities could be a bit cleaner.

As a regular customer, I am extra sorry to report that my wife became very ill after dinner yesterday due to food poisoning! This should not happen anymore... I cannot inform you directly but I cannot leave it unmentioned. FYI, reservation 8:00 am table 26. Too bad!

Tried Tatsu today with a friend of mine. We could choose between a normal AYCE and a Deluxe AYCE which is 48.50 pp. We went for the deluxe, which was quite pricey, but the quality of the products really made it worth it. I would recommend the Salmon Ponzu Truffle sashimi and the Salmon Nigiris (yes, I am a sucker for salmon). All in all the quality of the fish was to speak of, really fresh and you can taste it in the salmon and hamachi sashimi they sell✌️ Also make a reservation, it can get crowded quickly!

Definitely not recommended. We made reservations well in advance based on the reviews. This is not at all what we expected. Staff is not talkative at all, very slow and lax. Bring orders that have not been ordered. Expecting you to clear the table yourself. The food is simply plain cold! Sushi is all rice. Really very very insufficient!!

We had a nice meal at Tatsu Haarlem 1, with a number of clear pluses and minuses. There is enough variety on the menu, so something for everyone. The flambéed salmon sushi was absolutely delicious – perfectly prepared and full of flavour. The chicken satay was also surprisingly tasty and well marinated. The sushi in general was of good quality. What was disappointing was the kimchi, which was bland and not very spicy, and especially the fried rice and the stir-fried vegetables: both were tasteless and without salt - and these are precisely dishes that should be well seasoned as standard. Too bad, because that does diminish the experience somewhat. The service was fine: friendly and fast. The parking options are also more than sufficient. Another negative is the lighting inside, which is very dark and does not improve the atmosphere. All in all, mixed feelings – there are some real strengths, but there is also room for improvement.

It is always nice to eat at Tatsu Haarlem, but it is important to make a reservation at least a week in advance, because it is often busy. The deluxe menu option is a good choice, especially if you like topped sushi. It also offers a bit more variety, which is nice if you want to try different flavors.

Nice place upon entering, dark though (in the afternoon) Staff could be a bit more enthusiastic but we found the food terrible, especially the sushi. We have been to many sushi places but this was rubbish. Wasabi tastes and smells like earth and is not spicy at all, I could just take a bite. Soy sauce is in a kikoman bottle but is clearly not kikoman soy sauce. Most of the warm dishes were ok.

Perhaps we chose a bad day, but we cannot agree with the good reviews at all. Cold food, main course not tasty and the service removes your plate before you have finished eating. Brown avocados, nothing is fresh and it seems like some dishes were prepared a few days ago. Tough meat and sometimes the meat smelled like wet dog. In addition, the drink prices are not correct on the tablet. In my opinion, way overrated and too expensive for what you get.

We had dinner here two weeks ago when we visited Haarlem. Reserve in advance, which is also necessary on a Saturday. The decor is dark but stylish. Some tables are sometimes a bit close together, so one star less for atmosphere. The service is smooth and helpful. We mainly ordered sushi, and it was excellent. You can choose between a standard and a luxury menu, we chose the luxury. There are also some things that were delicious. Ordering is done via a tablet. Ours suddenly stopped working. A new one was arranged within a minute. There are two Tatsu restaurants. Take a good look at where you made your reservation and walk into the right one. If you are wrong, the other restaurant is around the corner.

Be prepared to order at least one drink per person per round if you want a tiny jug of tap water. Otherwise every person has to buy a bottle of water. Absolutely ridiculous. At €44/pp they can give you tap water included. But they won’t.

Everything was great! Great value/quality for money. Is it a ‘Japan quality’ sushi? Of course not and anyone expecting that is simply unreasonable, but for this type of restaurant it’s really good! Out of all the regular sushi places (not fancy ones) in Amsterdam I tried for take out, this one is miles better! I’ll definitely come back! Service is quick and pleasant as well! Only one tiny piece of advice, add more ginger to that ginger plate, I know I can ask for more, but it’s just too little to start with 🤣

I normally go to Tastu 2. It's a bit smaller. I thought this Tatsu was too busy and too massive. The experience was therefore a lot less. Furthermore, the food was fine.

Always good, slightly more expensive than other all you can eat but definitely tasty food!

Reserved at 7:00 PM, present at 6:55 PM. We then waited 20 minutes in a crowded entrance before there was finally a spot. We were placed at a table next to people who smelled of perfume and were also quite antisocial. Unfortunately, Tatsu attracts a certain type of audience that does not improve the atmosphere. Finally eating, but it took half an hour before the table was cleared, so we couldn't even put our drinks down properly. Part of the order was also regularly forgotten. The restaurant is laid out in such a way that there are as many tables as possible per square meter - mass is cash register, at the expense of the atmosphere. However, the food is excellent, especially the desserts.

I had dinner with my partner last Saturday , we booked table at 16.00 a clock to avoid busy time. Food was generally good , all warm dishes very nice only sushi wasn’t tasty. I don’t know if stay over after lunch time or wasn’t fresh . We was waiting so long for first round at restaurant wasn’t full. That was strange but more strange was waiting for One cocktail more as 20 minutes …… Together with first round of food I order pornstar martini as they recommended and bottle of water . Water came after a few minutes but for cocktail I wait 20 min . I almost finished drinking my drink and then we started getting our food so I order another cocktail and then I was waiting 24 minutes ….. Really disappointed but I have to said cocktail was made 10/10 😉

Good Japanese restaurant! The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is very tasty. The interior is nicely decorated and also cozy. It’s a little bit noisy, but not too much. The price is €39,50 per person for 2 hours, all you can eat. A table reservation is required.
