Tatsu Haarlem 2 in Oude Stad

Last night, I had another lovely dinner out with my girlfriend at Tatsu 2 Haarlem. We arrived at 8:00 PM and stood by the entrance until someone came to us. A waitress squeezed through us and told us to proceed to the service counter to be served there. Once we arrived, without a reservation, we were able to simply take a seat on the ground floor instead of in the Dutroux basement, as we had been the last two times. We were politely asked if we were familiar with the concept, which we certainly are, and we chose the standard menu. The dishes arrived well, quickly, and tasted good; nothing wrong with them. One flamed sake nigiri arrived a bit late, but that can happen. However, a presumably new waitress with a ponytail and glasses slammed it down on the table very hard without saying "please" or looking at us; she tapped against our soy sauce container, causing it to almost fly. Ten minutes later, the same waitress brought us an incorrect order of four dishes that we had not ordered. This time, however, she did say "please," but without looking at us. We spoke to another employee and explained the situation, whereupon he politely took the food back. Once we got to the desserts, we ordered two custard buns. We are big fans of these at other restaurants and noticed that Tatsu had added them to the menu, but that will be the last time for us; someone in that kitchen can't temper them properly because it was filled with egg yolk and lumps of sugar... yuck. We finished with scoops of ice cream, and while we were doing that, a staff member wanted to relieve our table of the menu, soy sauce, and steamer basket containing the slaughtered custard buns we had torn open. A bit strange to do this during dinner time, but oh well, if that's the only thing, I suppose. But that wasn't the only thing, because gravity almost won when he tried to pick up the steamer basket. Fortunately, all three of us could laugh about it. Overall, I am not disappointed by Tatsu; on the contrary. The food was very tasty, the service was of slightly lower quality, but the staff was certainly not unfriendly. Until next time tatsu 🙏🏻.

Came here for a mama daughter date with another mama daughter and we enjoyed ourselves. All you can eat sushi and a family friendly atmosphere. It was a perfect lunch for a casual relaxed but yummy lunch

We came here for a family evening, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment right from the moment we entered. We were directed to a table that we were unable to move ourselves. When we asked a staff member for help, the response we received was that the table could be “simply” moved and that we should just do it ourselves, even though we had family members with us who had limited mobility. The most annoying part was that the staff member then walked away, exchanged glances with colleagues, and laughed while talking about our request. That felt very unprofessional and disrespectful. Unfortunately, the food was also disappointing. For us, this was a very disappointing experience. Due to the unfriendly attitude of the staff and the disappointing food, this was the first and last time at this location for me and my family.

2⭐️ We were really looking forward to eat here, but unfortunately we left before ordering because of how uncomfortable the experience was. We were a family of five, including two young children in strollers. The restaurant was completely empty, yet there seemed to be a lot of hesitation about seating us. When we were finally seated, we were placed in a dark corner far away from everything, which made us feel unwelcome. Our children needed to use the restroom first, but while part of our group was still away, we felt pressured to order. Throughout the interaction, neither the staff nor the owner made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was uncomfortable enough that we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. We can’t comment on the food, but first impressions and hospitality matter, and unfortunately this experience was disappointing.

Yesterday I went to eat at Tatsu, but my sister-in-law and I got food poisoning; it had to do with the fish in the sushi. I am still sick from it, and my sister-in-law has recovered a little more than I have!

At Tatsu 1, the dishes taste slightly different. The place is a bit smaller.

The sushi was absolutely delicious, and the food was served very quickly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also really nice, making it a comfortable and enjoyable place to dine. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely come back again.

The best all you can eat sushi I've tried in the Netherlands, the buns with custard were very popular, the temperature of the sushi rice was good, the sides like skewers, tataki etc were really delicious, usually in other restaurants they don't taste like anything and only serve to make up the number on the menu

We had a good meal, and fortunately the noise wasn't as loud as described in the reviews. The food was tasty, with the exception that a dish was occasionally forgotten. If the prices were to go down a bit, the restaurant would get 5 stars. (The round tables in the middle do have very little space.)

Due to the crowding at Tatsu 1 caused by a group of children that was bothering us, we were kindly directed here. We had a delicious lunch and the service was attentive and friendly. The price is also good value for what you get.

What a nice place this is. There isn't really anything special about the menu, just a standard sushi menu. Everyone here is busy with their own table, which I find very nice to see. It is on the noisy side, though, so having good conversations is difficult; fortunately, the idea at the all-you-can-eat is that you eat rather than talk.

We had a fantastic meal. Because we were a large group, we were seated downstairs, which meant the wait staff had to run very hard for us. I was shocked to hear that the owner doesn't give the tip to the staff, but pockets it himself. Bizarre! I would be ashamed..

We had an amazing experience at this Japanese restaurant. The fish was incredibly fresh, and every dish tasted beautifully balanced and refined. You can really feel the quality of the ingredients in every bite. It was one of those meals you genuinely enjoy from start to finish. Definitely a place worth coming back to. ❤️

Food was fresh. Fast service, nice waiters. Wasabi not that spicy. We paid €40 euros a person which is a little expensive for the experience we got. We had to pay for a drink to get tap water (i’ve never seen this before). The interior was nice but the music was not fitting at all. It was quite distracting actually because it was loud pop music. The sushi portions were small especially compared to the enormous mountain of edamame that seemed designed so you can’t eat it all and are forced to pay the leftover fine (€2). Would be go here again? No. Was it bad? Also no.

Just like at Tatsu Haarlem 1, we had another wonderful evening! The service was excellent; everything was served quickly, and the staff is always friendly. We always choose the deluxe menu. Our favorites are the topped salmon, kaitafi roll sushi, fiesta hamachi ponzu, and salmon ponzu. These are absolute must-try dishes! Even if you order the regular menu, you can order these for a small extra charge; they're definitely worth trying. The shrimp on the deluxe menu was a bit difficult to eat; the skin was hard to peel. Everything else was incredibly delicious.

One major drawback, in my opinion, is that the fresh food is brought on trays that already contain other people's dirty plates. I don't find it very hygienic. Your sushi is brought on a tray with someone else's gnawed rack of lamb on it. The large table downstairs is also uncomfortable. It's cold, like being in a cloakroom, and it smells like a toilet. It doesn't have the atmosphere of a real restaurant. You're tucked away in the back.

Super disappointing! Sloppily presented dishes, absolutely not a feast for the eyes! Small sushi, poorly rolled, beef rolls thinner than my little finger, and then large, dry chunks of beef. I came here to eat based on the reviews. Overhyped, 100%, I'll be back. 100%, no, it's a waste of money, and for these reasons I rarely eat out. If I go again, I'll experience exactly what I fear!

We had a reservation but were given a table near the restroom, which smelled strongly. The staff said we couldn't be moved, even though there seemed to be plenty of room. No apology was offered. Since we had come from far away, this was very disappointing, and we left. We will never come here again.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. A special mention goes to the waiters: they're super friendly, always smiling, and explain everything clearly. You can tell they're really trying. As far as I'm concerned, they definitely deserve a pat on the back!

We walked in and the atmosphere was immediately pleasant. We were shown to our table and then explained how to order. We loved everything we ordered. For dessert, I recommend the mochi. If you want to know what real Japanese food tastes like, this is the restaurant for you. I'll definitely be back!

We are regular customers of Tatsu, and I can confidently say that we always enjoy top-quality sushi. In every country or city we visit, we make a point of trying the local sushi, and none surpass the quality at Tatsu. The sushi is well prepared and fresh. They always present the dishes beautifully. The entire team is friendly, but I’d like to highlight the excellent service from Elisa, who is always so lovely. Tatsu is simply our favorite restaurant!

For €25 per person, you can enjoy a variety of delicious snacks for two hours. Drinks cost extra.

I won't take a seat downstairs next to the toilet; it's incredibly humid. It smelled musty and was incredibly warm. The staff wasn't very friendly, and the food isn't what I'm used to from Tatsu. Such a shame.

Delicious food. It's gotten quite expensive, but it's still a treat. Downside: the concept is a two-hour meal, but you're expected to order your last round after an hour and a half.

I ate here and ordered a few rounds. In the second round, we were missing two dishes, and in the fourth and fifth rounds, we were both missing one dish. This was a real shame. I mentioned it to a colleague, but they still didn't do anything about it. The food was fine.

The place offers a set-price all-you-can-eat concept where each person can order 4 different dishes per round. You can go through several rounds within a time limit. It’s a fun and varied way to try many dishes. As a vegeterian, I tried 6 or more from the menu and nearly all of them were above the expectations.

The sushi was delicious. Unfortunately, we were chased away for the second time by a staff member just before closing time. Today, 30 minutes before closing time, we were even told we could only order once more. Bizarre! Just before closing time, we were even asked if we'd enjoyed our meal and told they needed the table. It's a real shame to be treated this way, especially with a €290 bill. This is the second time this has happened. It's the last time for me; I won't be back.

The food is very good, you have 2 hours for it, it is scandalous that after an hour someone comes to your table to tell you that you have to order the last round because you almost have no time left, the first time I didn't say anything to her, 5 minutes later she comes back to tell us this again, then we said something about it, you order the deluxe menu with a bottle of wine and after an hour they already want you gone, I think it is absolutely scandalous, kind regards.

We have eaten a lot of sushi over the years, but Tatsu 2 is by far the best. The salmon just melted in your mouth.. delicious! Service was also fantastic.. we will definitely come back!

Tatsu Haarlem- good vibes, great sushi, even better service. The rolls are fresh, flavours punchy, and the staff actually look like they enjoy being there. Higher priced, not over hyped: just solid, reliable sushi that hits the spot every time. Personal fave: the spicy salmon. Extensive halal options. Go hungry. Leave happy.

If you like sushi, this is a very good address. We usually go for lunch. A little less choice but for us (a bit older) the menu offers much more than we can eat. Reservations are certainly not necessary for lunch. If the temperature is good, you can sit outside in the shade of the old Bavo. My wife is crazy about sushi and therefore about Tatsu and always leaves the building happy. (Cheese/steak rolls!)

The place is modern, cozy and stylish. We didn’t expect much from an all-you-can-eat buffet, but honestly, everything was really tasty! The quality of the food was much better than we expected and the portions were well-prepared and fresh. The price is very reasonable. Can’t wait to go back!

The atmosphere is pleasant, and sitting in a small alcove makes it cozy. However, the bottom of the stairs near the restroom isn't a pleasant spot. We'd love to come back.

The food is tasty, staff are friendly, sushi is delicious, drinks are great and environment is very cozy. It can be a bit noisy in the weekend or holidays. This can be a bit annoying at times. I have been to this place for the first time with a friend and the experience was good. It’s a 8 out of 10. Nothing wrong with this restaurant but I still prefer the Tatsu Haarlem 1.

You usually don't get the food you order! It's better to go somewhere else.

Reservation for 6:00-8:00 PM; ordered 10 minutes late. A drink that accidentally spilled due to our own fault was charged for after refilling. Half an hour before the end, the staff pressured us to finish, repeating annoyingly just before 8:00 PM, claiming there were people waiting. We left and paid by 8:10 PM. Upon checking in after exploring the city, our table was completely unoccupied, and neither were many others. We felt rushed well before and around 2:00 PM, citing a two-hour shift where they lied about waiting times. It came across as very inhospitable! Furthermore, we were there for our daughter's birthday. We had informed them beforehand, but nothing was done about it. A terrible experience for service and hospitality! Not good, Tatsu!

Don't eat here if you have a gluten intolerance. After contacting them twice beforehand, things went completely wrong on the spot. We received dishes with gluten, waited 25 minutes for dishes that were supposed to be gluten-free. We reported the problem, and then it was a complete mess. It's been two days of pain and suffering.

The worst maki we ever had! What we ordered and what we were served… we asked two waiters if the picture and what we had in our plate looked the same and they both said “Yes! They are exactly the same!”Seriously? No! neither look nor taste was the same and what the hell is that lettuce next to everything even dessert???

Yes, Tatsu. That certainly seems like a logical choice to me. As far as sushi (all you can eat) restaurants go, Tatsu is one of the most worthy options. Now, we're used to those in Leidschendam, but a different location for a change wouldn't be a bad thing. Well...not entirely. It's quite difficult to get to, parking is expensive, and walking there during this "hot season" isn't exactly pleasant either. Once inside, you'll recognize Tatsu's interior: the chairs, benches, mood lighting, and the staff's outfits. Here too, the staff is friendly and helpful. The concept—yes, we fall for it again and again. The only downside: the service took a bit longer than we're used to at Tatsu Leidschendam. Now, I don't want to say we're in a hurry, but we noticed the difference. All in all, there seems to be a lot of criticism, but that's mainly due to external factors. Visit Tatsu, and you'll throw all other sushi concepts in the trash. Let me give you a tip. You know how to tell Tatsu takes the crown? No one gets up at Tatsu; everyone stays seated, and everything is brought to you. There's also no dessert station where you can scoop cheap, unhygienic ice cream with cupcakes and donuts you don't like, but eat anyway because there's no other dessert and you paid for it. Tatsu gives you a choice of two desserts. My tip: choose the cheesecake and the mango ice cream. Tatsu Haarlem 2: definitely worth it!

The food was delicious, but there was a hair in it... And what terrible service! We were seated at two tables when one was enough, but when we asked if the second table could be moved away, the waiter told us "he couldn't do magic." This arrogant tone continued. Only one lady was friendly and wished us a good meal; for the rest, all the food was practically thrown on the table without a word. Even when we left the restaurant, the staff didn't say goodbye or anything. Very unfriendly.

Nice place to eat sushi. I was phoned to be told that a special price because of Valentine's day would be charged. Which turned out to be +50%. So, without even having a drink, I would pay for myself, my wife and daughter already over 100 euros! This is a rip off. Avoid during special holidays.

I've eaten here about four times now. The sushi is delicious, and the other dishes are also very good. Our favorite is the dragon roll from the deluxe menu. Note that this isn't part of the regular all-you-can-eat menu. Cocktails are pricey but very good and look beautiful. They're also real alcoholic cocktails, rather than the watered-down ones you sometimes get at other places. The service is okay, but it sometimes takes a while to get seated. I recommend making a reservation from Friday to Sunday, as it's almost always full.

I WAS a very loyal customer!! I came to tatsu2 at least once a month. But after today I will never go there again! We were given a spot literally by the kitchen. I indicated that I absolutely did not want to sit there because my eyes would get sore from all the smoke! Then we were assigned another spot next to the main entrance but literally behind other guests. Neither my husband nor I fit in there because it was so scratchy (there was a very large man who had pushed his chair all the way back). After discussing for 10 minutes we had to sit there because there was no other spot. We ate quickly and got up immediately. Had another great meal at Tatsu. Now at the smaller location. Food was good and familiar again. Round table was small for 4 people, but luckily the staff quickly collected the plates and bottles, which was fine. Little room for legs though. Christmas atmosphere was nice and service was good. Due to the smaller location it was nice to (easier) look into the kitchen...

Delicious, sometimes takes long to deliver the food

It's recommended to book or arrive early, or you'll easily find a table after 9 pm. Excellent buffet for €45 on weekends plus drinks. I loved everything; it's delicious, definitely my favorite Japanese restaurant. I'll be back.
