Thais Restaurant Songhkla in Wijk 28 Centrum

Again the food and service here was amazing. I have ben multiple times here, some weeks ago with my parents and yesterday with my grandmother (all from south america with roots from India). And they loved the vegetarian food! So much choice, very spicy if you choose a spicy dish. Definitely recommend this restaurant. We will be coming back again!!

Really nice restaurant in the center of The Hague, you can have many choices for different Thai foods, prepared and served with care from the nice chefs and waiters working here. Recommended for all the possible situations (date, family, group of friends, company dinner…).

Majorly over-priced yet yummy food with some of the WORST service in Holland…and that is saying something. You have been warned!

On Saturday, September 6th, we dined at the Thai restaurant Songhkla. We celebrated our son's birthday there. We were treated like VIPs; nothing was too much trouble. The service was positive, good, and pleasant. Dutch, Thai, and English were all mixed together! But most importantly, the food was fantastic. Deliciously tender, Nua Toen, Salmon, and Massaman Curry. Really, look no further than SONGHKLA, the best and most delicious Thai restaurant in The Hague. Finally, the price is absolutely fantastic—not too expensive and therefore very affordable. Success guaranteed.

What a disappointment...the food. Fish cakes were overcooked. Both curries were bland and lacked the typical Thai ingredients. Chicken...stuffed with Dutch vegetables, some rock hard. Beef...see above. Also, neither curries were really hot. Sauces...disgusting. Rice; piping hot in a small container; impossible to handle and overcooked. Fried rice; no fried flavor to the rice, piping hot in a small container; impossible to handle and overcooked. Salad; tasteless, and luckily we were out of the wind, otherwise the 5 nuts and desert shrimp would have blown away. A bit of a shame for so many euros (€92 for 2 people).

Delicious food, friendly service. Unfortunately, no halal meat dishes and had to make do with fish dishes. Definitely worth repeating.

Always on time, friendly and you can recognize him immediately by his curls. He drives faster than I get hungry and brings the food hot. Shongkhla must be happy with such a person, truly a top delivery person and delicious food!

What an incredible disappointment. Had a vegetarian meal with 2 people and both starter and main course had the same cut vegetables. Soup was lukewarm instead of warm. Sateh literally had 2 pieces of tofu and the same vegetables in peanut sauce. The main courses were also announced as numbers 26 and 28, which says enough about how this is a seriously overpriced takeaway. During the hour we were there I saw the wrong dish being delivered to 2 tables and people were asking questions about it. I didn't see anyone take a dessert, no one stayed that long, the dishes had a different sauce but were otherwise the same. The ginger was old and tough. Dish was supposed to have tofu, again found 3 cubes, unbelievable. It really was just bad. Really disappointed, I don't understand the other reviews because that's why I went here. Definitely don't do this as a vegetarian!

Delicious Thai cuisine worth repeating. Also very pleasant service.

No matter where you're from, this place feels like home. The staff are so friendly, the ambiance is 10/10, and the food is so delicious with great portions. I can't complain about the price, either! If I had to nitpick, it was annoying that it took an hour for our food to arrive but this is a place that I don't mind relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere while waiting. I'll definitely be back!

After passing this restaurant so many times, we decided to give it a try. I ordered Pad Krapao and Pad Thai. To be fair, there was nothing wrong with the food only the flavor was a bit light in my opinion, as Thai food is really famous for its rich flavor. Also, the portion is quite small compared to its price. The place is small maybe only less than 10 tables, better to reserve it if you want to come here

Unfortunately, I saw a mouse walking through a box of cauliflower when I just walked by and took a look inside. I wanted to come and eat when they are open, but I won't do that anymore.

Very unfriendly and pushy staff, asked 3 times if we already knew while we had just been there for 5/10 minutes. Food was a lot salty, we had to add sugar to dishes to balance it out. At the end she asked do you want dessert to which we said no and then she immediately came with the bill. In other words, get out quickly. First and LAST time at Songkhla.

Kang Massaman: The food lacks the full, slightly sweet taste that you get in Thailand. Some more cashews would also help. The rice has been in the rice cooker on the keep warm setting for too long.

Service only understands you when you want to and is really unfriendly for Thais. I had duck that was as tough as rubber. However, I got a replacement for it. Asking for an invoice is difficult. At first it was said that it wasn't possible. After urging, the boss came and only then registered everything in the cash register and I received an invoice. I think it's a complete rip-off to show off poor to average Thai cuisine due to unprofessionalism at high prices...

Food delivery came in 45 minutes. Food was hot. The food was not tasty. Not normally a lot of garlic, cut large, processed in the food and not thoroughly fried. I'm used to a lot, but the garlic overdose has no taste in the food. Same also in the peanut sauce large pieces of garlic. And I don't really understand what was Thai about it. Very familiar with Thai cuisine but this completely misses the point. An expensive bad experience for me. Unfortunately.

Wow, I've been to many Thai restaurants, but this little Thai in the heart of The Hague is great. Delicious food with luckily lots of crunchy vegetables, red (!) rice and nice and spicy. We will definitely come back.

Returned here after a previous reasonable experience, but man, was it bad. There were four of us and we had to wait a really long time before anything came to the table after ordering. Then one of us got a dish where all the fish and seafood was left out. Well, it can happen. Returns with just a piece of quickly fried tilapia placed on top. Still without the squid, shrimp and other seafood. When asked, the boss then raises his voice and tells us that we are wrong, because the gentleman "did it himself." And angrily admonishes us to "You're just going to pay." While we didn't even start about that. The man turns around without waiting for an answer and quickly walks away. I understand that times are difficult in the catering industry, but if you can't handle 25 people spread over the evening in your restaurant with 2 people in the kitchen and then you also treat your customers this way out of stress, you are a mature entrepreneur. for a takeover. And I haven't even mentioned the raw green beans in my own dish. A truly bizarre experience.

Server was fine, the location is kind of cool upstairs, but the food was TERRIBLE. I had pad sie eew that literally had no flavor. The beef tasted like generic stew meat, half the noodles were undercooked rubber, the other half wasn't cooked at all. No spice, no sour lime flavor, no sweet, no salty, nothing. Also, my dish came with a bunch of extra random vegetables and mushrooms. The pad thai we ordered wansn't much better.

First time trying Thai food in a resturant so I was not sure what I am getting but food was really good and well presented and the service was really nice.

One of our favorite restaurants in the country, worth the one hour drive. Food is excellent and service is very friendly, albeit with some slight language barriers every now and then. Sad to hear the original owner has passed away a few months ago. The cooking however, remains excellent.

Been here a couple years ago and everything was great in my memory. Unfortunately it was a complete disaster tonight simply because of this poor papaya salad. The papaya tasted frozen and like potatoes. Any random salad from AH tastes better than this one. The rest of the dishes we ordered were also lower than our expectations. FYI, their price on the real menu is around 6 euro more expensive than the one that is presented at their door (window). We were too lazy to leave, and this turned out to be the wrongest decision we’ve made in a while.

I was there last Friday. The service is very good and rapid. The menu has too many options so the choose of the food is a bit difficult, especially if you don’t know the Thai cuisine. The food overall is very good.

Food is stunningly delicious! Best Thai restaurant in the Netherlands. A bit salty overall but nothing can’t be fixed with steamed rice. . We arrived at 3pm which definitely not a normal hour for either lunch or dinner. The restaurant is empty and the service was quick. I only wish if the waitress can slow down a bit since we’re not in a hurry - she didn’t need to run. . We had a Som Tam, 1 wok and 1 seafood dish. They were sooooo good, especially the sauce!!! We ordered an extra rice portion to finish the sauce. Same taste i had several year ago in Bangkok. . The price is indeed expensive. But in general, good experience.

Absolutely loved everything we ordered! Beat Pad Thai I've had in the Netherlands thus far! The Massaman curry was also great. Its a small place, but like us, people were coming and spending time here and enjoying themselves, not in a rush. The portions are huge. The only thing I didn't like was that they cleared away our food in such a rush without asking if we wanted to rest as take away as we had a lot of leftovers. And it was done in such a rush, that we also didn't get a chance to ask the rest to go. It was sad for me especially as I don't like in the Hague and kept on dreaming of the potential leftovers I could have had the next day.

Unfortunately this food was not good. Tasted somewhat like Thai food. But it was strange. Dish 1 was way too sweet. Dish 2, I think thawed from the freezer, hunks of meat with 70 percent blubber fat. Dish 2 was really inedible. And sorry, I had to throw that away too. The soup beforehand was reasonable, but far too sweet here. And way too big pieces of ginger or some other strange food. It just wasn't right. Total about 50 euros.

My food was almost an hour late and the quality is not good. The manager called me and all they can say was they are sorry. The owner is even so rude that challenged me to file a complaint against their company. She totally forgotten what hospitality is. I’ve never experienced this kind of treatment in Thailand. She’s so proud of her restaurant even when the food tastes so bad. It’s my first time to order here, but I can say street food in Thailand is way better than this. There are other good Thai restaurants in Den Haag, and I definitely don’t recommend this one. Their only advantage is their location, but the quality and service are definitely bad.

We were here due to the reviews. Well i don't know how, but those smell as bad as the food does. And tastes. I would say: an awfull experience. Don't know bad day of the chef, or chef gone. But staff did not know what they served as well. Weird. Saw two other tables who didn't finish their meals, so i think it was a shared experience. Does not matter, i do not recommend this. Definately not.

you have to walk upstairs to eat in, you don’t really get acknowledged when you walk in initially, food tastes well but very salty, the proportions r good but the amount of the protein elements in it is quite minimal, papaya salad is mid. You do get white rice with the regular mains. I do appreciate the amount of herbs they put in the fresh teas though. To be honest overpriced for what you get, menus are sticky, overall hygiene is acceptable, chair wobbly.

Bad bad bad!!!Ridiculous stupid bad place. Pad Thai was tasty, but not for €24. Doesn't contain gold or anything like that. Papaya salad was like not eating a potato. What's ridiculous is that if you order online or if you pick it up, the pad Thai is 10 euros cheaper. See the attachment for what I had to pay in the restaurant. And what else I had to pay when they delivered it. Add the drinks and it was a total of 18 euros. Close this place rip off!!!

The place is very small and uncomfortable. They are very understaffed. Food took very long and was not tasty. Waiters didn't communicate well what was in the dishes. Overall, a bad experience.

Terrible Restaurant with terrible policies and even worse the staff!! I don't like writing reviews but this restaurant is a real shame for Thai cuisine. Food is completely dry and fried to death, tasteless and if you order a dish with a sauce in it, you still get dried out food. We tried to solve it in a decent way, but the Dutch owner's answer was that the food should be like that, so we weren't allowed to complain. Quite a strange answer to give to someone who has been in the kitchen for 25 years. Really a big joke and they look like a bunch of hobbyists. Save your money folks and go somewhere else. €50 thrown straight into the trash!!

Although I've never been to Thailand, I imagine the way they cook here is original Thai cuisine. Super tasty and very quickly on the table with really friendly service. Recommended 👍🏼

The food was okay but not great. Our drinks were forgotten, which can happen. We wanted to order rice for our children, but the waiter Harbins advised against it because it was too spicy and persuaded us to order noodles with egg. In the end he wanted to pay €22.50. Usury and super unfair pricing policy!

Boring food, completely overpriced... for a simple Pad Thai you pay 25 EUR here, for comparison... in Thailand you pay 1.50 EUR, in Berlin 8 EUR. Ambience so-so, waiters seem listless. For two meals and a few drinks, 70 EUR is quickly gone... as a thank you, diarrhea the next day... continues!

I have had great meals at this restaurant, but I’ve had some pretty terrible ones, too. For example, today the server refused to give me a glass of water unless I pay for a bottled water (which I find extremely wasteful). My soup arrived with undercooked, still frozen shrimp. The plate at my table seat was dirty… I cannot recommend a place that is so inconsistent, even if it has some of the better Thai food in town.

Tiny place, but the food is perfect. Take any curry you like. The menu font could be a bit better because its hard to read with everything being the same font.

I didn't like how the waiters treated us. No good for a restaurant that needs to interact with human beings everyday. We had to wait like 1 hour to pay the bill and leave.... Probably, the restaurant needs more staff. No a place I would recommend or visit again. But the food is good

Had a delicious meal here tonight with two former colleagues. Colleague Ron has come here before and highly recommended this restaurant. And now I understand why. The restaurant is not large, but cozy and cozy. The food is excellent and the portions are fine. Highly recommended.

We didn't make a reservation, but if we didn't sit too long, we could still get a table for two. Delicious food and very friendly staff. It was just a bit chilly, but yes, I understand that with these energy prices. But if they charge every customer €2.50 for energy storage and keep it nice and warm, I think everyone would do that, at least we would. All in all, definitely recommended!

We actually walked past it, but decided to go inside. The kitchen is at the front door, then immediately up the stairs. It's not very big, but it does have something cozy about it. Looks accessible. Friendly staff, we were surprised about the starter and main course so we could eat without any expectations. This was an excellent choice, both the starter and the main course, meat dish and fish dish, were a pleasant table moment. It was so much that I couldn't have a desert. Definitely worth visiting this restaurant more often.

There’s Thai food, and then there’s Songkhla.

I have never eaten such a strange pad see eew. Tasted like nothing. Didn't come close to a pad see eew you would eat in Thailand.

For years, it has been head and shoulders the best Thai in The Hague with an excellent price/quality ratio.

How can you call this Thai food? The pad thai was not even made with the right noodles and had mushroom and broccoli in it… not to mention, costed more than €20…

Cute Thai in Chinatown The Hague. There are some seats above the kitchen. Friendly welcome and delicious food. I ordered the stew. Meat fell apart nicely. Tasty rice. Cute interior.

Very overpriced for the fact that the food doesn't taste good. I ordered papaya salad and already have a stomach ache because it wasn't mashed. Not authentic in taste at all. Pad Thai just tastes like fried noodles like in Chinese. Sorry Mai Aroi.

Last Sunday we went to this Thai restaurant. They open doors at 15.00. We waited patiently outside to find out that the chef did not show up!!! What a bummer!!
