The Blacksmith in Wijk 21 Oude Haven

This is a little bar just outside the main drinking eating area. They have a fantastic selection of beers and spirits and the prices are much better than in the main square. Very atmospheric and it's a little gem. Well recommended.

Cozy brown pub in old Amsterdam style just outside the busy flat catering square in Zaandam. Nice and very knowledgeable staff who can tell you everything about your special beer. You don't come here for loud music but for a good conversation and a quality beer, nice whisky or a tasty rum. No food is served here but you can often eat something small that you have brought yourself.

It's a typical Dutch brown café. The atmosphere is pleasant and the clientele is good. They have great draft and bottled beer options. The staff is extremely friendly. It's worth checking out and visiting.

Nice local pub with a wide range of special and exceptional beers, the wine and whiskey are also excellent. Quite a number of foreign tourists who come to taste good beer, but of course also the necessary Zaankanters. Music is on at a pleasant level; So it's perfectly possible to have a nice chat. The owner, Justin, has a lot of knowledge about the products he serves and regularly updates the range. Ambassador of the wonderful Paix Dieu.

Got pizza at pazzo, you can eat it here, delicious combo. Great atmosphere, staff and guests. After visiting the Zaantheater we returned for a nightcap. You don't want to miss it!

Thanks to others leaving their reviews for the Blacksmith, I had four lovely evenings here whist in Holland for the GP. Wish I could bring this Pub & host (Justin) home with us. We will return and in the meantime if you fancy a good beer, no banging music, local company, then head to this gem of a boozer👌🏻

Quite frankly I simply got deceived by the high rating and the word "bar" in the name into thinking I can enjoy a good bottle of wine here... But I really can't think of a worse place to drink wine. They offered a "choice" of two reds and I got charged €25 for a really poor €3 bottle 😕😕😕

Beautiful cafe. It was 20 years ago and it still is today. Host surprised us with two delicious beers. Open atmosphere, informal and friendly host. Highly recommended to enjoy one of the many specialty beers in the bottle or on tap.

Best place in Zaandam! more than 40 different types of beer that the owner can always tell something nice about. ambassador of Paix Dieu, a devilishly delicious tripel. And a wonderful attraction: the stairs to the toilets!

Cozy, but I was there on a Saturday evening and of course it was busy then. Toilet is upstairs, steep stairs so that could be a problem.

Recommended, Nice beer/tasting locally with a large beer range. The owner is well informed and knows something about all the beers. The decoration of the pub is simply great. The Back Smith is a top pub. Justin (the bartender) can tell you everything about every beer he sells (and there are many). Every time I come here I have a great evening. It's nice and cozy and always super fun!
