THE Bookstor Cafe in Wijk 28 Centrum

Leider war der Besuch sehr enttäuschend. Wir wurden an der Kasse unbeachtet gelassen und andere Kunden wurden vorgezogen. Zudem habe ich nach der Getränkeauswahl gefragt, da sie keinen Chai Latte hatten. Daraufhin sagte die Kassiererin nur: „Kaffee, Tee, Heiße Schokolade“. Eigentlich wollte ich wissen, welche speziellen Kaffees sie dort hatten, aber leider hat sich die Kassiererin eher über mich lustig gemacht. Sehr schade. Der Latte Machhiato war auch nur lauwarm. Das Bananenbrot hingegen empfehlenswert.

Wat een slechte service! En die blonde griet heeft nog een grote mond ook tegen de klanten. De koffie was lauw, vragen andere en kregen weer lauwe koffie! Ik zei dat ze een ander systeem nodig hadden omdat ze duidelijk aan het stuntelen waren en de ene fout na de andere maakten!! Zegt ze op een arrogante toon, kom jij hier staan! Als ik zo personeel zou hebben, die vliegt per direct buiten! Is niet gemaakt voor deze job!

An extremely beautiful place, it was love at first sight!! They offer various books, most of them in English. The coffee is amazing, as well as the cookies and bananabread. Highly recommend going in the morning, it tend to get more busy in the afternoon.

Maybe I shouldn't have come on a Saturday. It was WAY TOO CROWDED. I will go again on another day if I'm near. Besides that. The garden and inside are beautiful! The staff is really nice. And they have a big collection of different kinds of books.

I think this place is worth a visit just for its atmosphere. The cafe/bookstore vibe is great, and there is a very cute garden at the back for the sunny days. However the prices are a bit crazy in my opinion and the choice of books is not so great; also it’s always very busy because I think people go here to study/work so tables and chairs are always taken for a long time. A cute place to see nonetheless!

This is my favourite place to study ever <3 The atmosphere is extremely cozy and familial, and while its usually very busy you always find a place to sit eventually ;) The coffee is not fantastic and neither are the cakes I would say, but at least for the coffee they have definitely improved over the last few months that I have been coming. Studying apart, the reading nights are just wonderful. You're offered (delicious) chocolate and a beverage for a fee, and you're forced to read for multiple hours since you're not allowed to have your computer in the store during those times (which I love). It's a really unique event and I hope it keeps going! As for other things about this place, I love how the store has been selling art and postcard from local artists (especially lately with the stamp + envelopes, and the big prints). Thats it, thank u for existing bookstor!! <3

This is my favorite cafe in the whole world, and I don't say this lightly! I make at least one pilgrimage here every time I visit the Netherlands. Sit and enjoy a coffee and sweet treat (pear cake is v good) and people-watch over the pages of your book ❤️ Never change!

this is a special place, like a home away from home. it feels so cozy, so relaxed, you almost feel like you put on a pair of fluffy slippers on your way to the warm fireplace inside a cabin in the middle of a snowstorm - one that's covered with books from wall to wall. the service is great and welcoming, the fresh mint tea is excellent, and the atmosphere is the best. couldn't recommend it more.

It became our favorite coffee during our trip to The Hague. Very pleasant, both inside and on the terrace. The lemonades were very delicious and everything we tried was spectacular. Also good price

Such a great and romantic place to enjoy a cup of coffee between books. However, keep in mind that it is a very busy cafe as it is a good place to work on your laptop. Many places are therefore rather occupied. The cappucino tasted super creamy and the banana cake was juicy. The date cake was a bit too hearty.

Love this bookshop x cafe.The garden is beautiful, the interior design is something out of a movie. I even show this place to every friend who visits The Hague as a tourist. I also love its cozy vibe and friendliness for laptops. I come here to work remotely with my laptop for a couple of hours in the afternoon. It may be not so easy to find a convenient place to sit. The place has WiFi. The coffee is fine, cakes are ok. There is no table service but they also have a terrace on the street.

I have been here quite some times and the experience is always good. Great coffee, great pastries and friendly staff. Try peeking in the backyard is really nice. Amazing place to read a book, have a chat with a friend or just take a break from the day ✨

A wonderful local idea, poorly used in one of the most beautiful streets to visit in The Hague. The place is small and was packed, among other things because the tables and chairs they have, both inside and outside the place, are very close together. As a bookstore it is small, with few titles to choose from, and arranged on unattractive shelves. The rest of the place is beautiful, decorated with great care and with unique details. The cafeteria part is good, the coffee is good and there are some things to eat that look good. Everything is ordered inside and brought to the table, the day we went at least there was no table service. We went almost expressly to see this bookstore and it was a bit disappointing to be honest, but if you pass by there I recommend visiting it and seeing it.

A cozy place, convenient for work and conversation. Friendly atmosphere, many different places inside and in the garden with different arrangement possibilities. There is a chess set in the gazebo in the garden. Great coffee. Also very tasty cakes and croissants 🥐

Price of a latte is now 4.60 euro and they are served now in small cups. Before the it was served in large cups. Ridiculous and theft of their own customer. Toilets always extremely dirty.

Nice ambience and nice concept. However, the service and cleanliness was extremely poor - Overpriced coffee (there is no price list anywhere) - extremely dirty tables that are not wiped down - all the food return tubs were completely overflowing - Broken folding chairs It gives the impression that personnel are being saved. I wouldn't go there again. No recommendation.

Cozy and quiet, a great spot for introverts and book lovers.

2 stars just for the setting and the atmosphere which are magnificent. Also being able to read a book peacefully in a public place is very nice. However, no drinks menu or prices displayed on pastries. The worst coffees I have tasted in 1 month in the Netherlands... Moreover, the waitress and the barista are absolutely not friendly and do not help the customer. So very nice setting but the drinks and the deplorable service spoil the experience...

We discovered The Bookstore Cafe during last years vacation. We really liked it so we came back today. Good coffee, nice cakes and a very cozy atmosphere. Note to the other guests: please put away your used plates that everyone has a nice table.

The mint tea and coffee are tasty, but I didn't eat anything else. This is a nice place with interesting books, but there is only one toilet, which means you can quickly get into a long queue.

We have rented our bikes there - the bikes were not that good, but the place is very cute.

Nice shop but there was no menu that you could look at. The pastries were laid out at the front but you didn't know what drinks they were offering. The knock on the toilet was a horror and there were still empty dishes lying around on a lot of empty tables that no one picked up

Chill place to read and enjoy coffee

Wanted to try this place out as I saw some really great reviews. The place is cozy and the coffee’s okay, but I will never set foot here again. The staff is rude!!! When she called out my order, I didn’t hear it the first time as I was looking at the books. Then she called again and I went to pick it up, when I told her my order, she said “well then take it”, without even looking at me and with the most sour expression on her face. It was such an unpleasant experience, I wanted to buy books and cakes but decided not to, would not want to give more money to a place that doesn’t respect their customers.

Such a picturesque and atmospheric bookstore! The selection of books is truly very interesting, and the noise level is perfect to study or read. There is wifi if you ask for the password too! The only thing I’m confused about is why there’s no menu? I couldn’t find one and I was too scared to ask (my fault) so I just randomly asked for a coffee- which is tasty. If someone could let me know if I missed something, please do!

Negative feedback. Good reviews about this cafe were written a year ago. Things are not good now. There are dirty dishes and cake crumbs on the tables, they are not cleaned up. We were given cappuccino in dirty cups. The cups were left unwashed from previous clients. We made a remark about this to the seller in the cafe. We received an answer that they cannot cope with the work because there are too many people. But this is not an argument to do a bad job!

My first visit here was during a solo-backpacking trip in 2017. This coffeeshop is spectacular. So much so, I recommend it as a must-visit to any family/friend who visit the city. The coffee is second to none. Did I mention how pretty the interior is? Seriously, you'll think you've walked onto a film set.

This was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was great and the books were very pretty. The coffee was the best coffee i’ve ever had. I’d recommend this cafe to anyone. They had great carrot cake and the service was impeccable.

Cute and cosy atmosphere inside but somewhat... sterile. If you just want to chill with tea or coffee while working you'll find it pleasant. Coffee is decent and pastries and homemade sandwiches are just fine. It is quite annoying that you can't smoke on the street or in the back garden tho:/.

This place was my absolute favorite when I moved to the Hague in 2021. It had a very unique charm and it was the perfect environment to chill, read a book or get some work done. I would go out of my way to have a coffee there even for just an hour. Nowadays, that charming vibe seems to be fading. It became a more popular tourist attraction than before, with huge groups of people walking in at all times from 9 AM onwards to tour the place. Tables are cramped, majority of the second hand books collection has been placed elsewhere. It looks like they prioritized serving more customers over protecting the charm of the place. Just to add to it, the owner is unfortunately an anti-vaxx and a bit of a blunt guy in general, who once left his dog outside for an hour because he was “too loud.” Still giving 4 stars for all the great memories I’ve had here, as well as their hot chocolate, boterkoek and cookies. But if you want a calm cafe environment, there are better options in the Hague.

Nice, small bookstore with an integrated café. Pastries and snacks are also offered here in addition to various coffee specialties. Mainly young audience. Totally nice atmosphere with outdoor seating in the backyard garden behind.

Awesome place. Good cappuccino even if there is little or nothing to eat gluten-free. But I don't come here to eat. I like to sip coffee and read a good book, or work on the PC. The garden with tables is a plus that should not be underestimated, even if the weather does not always allow you to take advantage of the situation. However, coming here is a very pleasant experience.

Very cute little bookstore and café combination. The staff were very nice (explaining the vegan/dairy free options) and the presentation of the food was stunning. I'm afraid I didn't catch the name.of the woman who assisted me, but she was very friendly! The price was slightly steep, but this is common throughout the Netherlands and isn't a negative of this particular café! Right outside the Palace and has a lovely little garden in the back where you can enjoy a coffee on a sunny morning.

A beautiful chill store with the perfect vibes for every book lover out there. The garden is very idyllic and there are plenty of places to rest and enjoy your favorite book. The cafe part however is a bit lacking, especially with the diversity of snack to chose from. If you want an impression of the best book cafe, check out the Kaufmannsladen in Königswinter. One thing i'd like to note though is the enormous amount of laptop users that block almost all the indoor spots at times. This should really change.

I was very happy to read about this bookstore in the Travelogue of Mustansar Hussain Tarar, a famous writer of Pakistan.

A great little bookstore where you can have a coffee or lemonade and have a snack like a piece of cake or a sandwich. The atmosphere is unbelievably great. You can sit between the books in the store and enjoy your coffee or outside in a cozy garden. The shop is a little gem.

I love this cafe very much! It is located just a few minutes' walk from the Royal Palace, on a quiet street. You can sit very nicely in front of the café or in the backyard. The cake and cappuccino I had was delicious! The service is also very friendly! I'd love to come back!

Lovely place! But I hope they open a new place or extend the capacity of this restaurant. Because when I enter the cafe, I feel that the cafe could use some space to place more chairs and tables. I think you are no using the capacity efficiently.

The place itself is nice, but the staff is a bit rude and the food and the coffee are not great. The mozzarella sandwich was really oily and the staff wouldn’t provide napkins, even when I asked. The carrot cake was too sweet and the coffee mediocre.

Lovely, wonderfully out-of-time fusion of a bookstore and café! I've been there to work on my laptop, chat with a few friends and browse/read. It doesn't really make a difference whether you sit outside the shop when the weather is nice, in the green courtyard or in the shop full of chattering students when it's raining - because it's always a pleasure to order an espresso with banana bread or carrot cake there. Charming & cozy in an old-fashioned way! 🫖🍪

The place is always packed, so there have been times we had to leave because there was simply no space. I've only had drinks here, but they were good. Nice vibe, historical place. Friendly staff.
