The Geffense Plas in Buitengebied-Zuid

I rarely review anything, but Strandtien deserves one. I've had several delicious meals in a lovely, beautiful location, and the price is excellent for the quality you get. Fantastic!

Went for dinner with family. The food was delicious. The staff is very friendly and happy to help. The restaurant is very cozy and has a nice atmosphere. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely go back!

The food was good. It's a shame there wasn't much attention to drink requirements. A maximum of three rounds were requested for drinks.

The entrance is poorly signposted, and there's no trash can or bucket outside. The waterfront restaurant looks quite pleasant, though.

Nice place with a view of the Geffense Plas lake, BUT the portions are very small: the price is very high for what you get. The quality of the food is also not what it should be (certainly not for the price): fish soup is insufficient for 9.50 (3 mussels, 1 scampi, no fish, fennel is hard to find with a magnifying glass) and kibbelings for 11.50: 3 pieces, overcooked, thickly coated in flour and greasy, and 1.5 handfuls of fries. A disappointment.

We made a reservation for lunch for two three days in advance. Upon arrival, all the tables by the window were occupied. We were greeted and asked if we had a reservation. Just a moment, the waitress returned and pointed to two tables for two in the third row from the window, with a room divider with plants overlooking the lake. We were given a choice and probably didn't look happy because another line followed: it's very busy due to the holiday season, and if you make a reservation next time, you should make your preferences known. The table for two: one person could sit on a chair, the other had to sit on a sofa that was completely uncomfortable. Our experience at beach 10, overlooking the Geffense Plas, was more like having lunch in a company canteen. No more reservations for us!

This was the Jurassic Park expo on the Strand Tien grounds, but you can't compare the two. The entrance fee was expensive, and the drinks were unaffordable...

The price/quality ratio isn't right. A farm chicken sandwich (hope the name is correct) with two rolls of joma and two slices of chicken you normally put on a sandwich. Nicely presented, though. That €14 is too expensive for me.

Lunch was delicious. The location is absolutely fantastic, too. It felt like a holiday.

NB: I sent the email to your address on June 20th. I just sent it again. I participated in a social deal. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. Both the starter and the main course were bland, uninspired, and fried. We didn't even eat them. The waitress was nice and also said she didn't understand why the kitchen had made that choice. All in all, we still spent around €50 per person and just didn't enjoy the food. I think that's a shame, especially for such a beautiful place. I emailed them before posting a review because I wanted them to know about it and I felt they should. I've always been taught that every complaint is an opportunity. Unfortunately, I didn't receive a single response to my email. It's a real shame, and it's not customer-focused.

Beautiful location on the beach, it's a shame the children can't play in the playground when you're sitting on the terrace; the adjacent playground has a different entrance.

Delicious food! We've been here a few times now and always leave feeling full. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere by the water.

Missed opportunity: very friendly waitress says that it is no problem to get some salad instead of 2x fries with dishes of € 27.00 per dish. However, after 5 minutes she comes back that this is not allowed. The fries stay away, but for the little salad we can just pay the card price!

Weird work of waiter, super unprofessional, slow and not polite. For question in English, answer was still in Dutch. How that can be possible? We left place after answer “we don’t know, how fast kitchen can be, we are busy”, but place was almost empty. Please, take improvements. View and interior were very nice, but it is nothing, when service works like this.

Enjoy a delicious lunch in a beautiful, green environment This atmospheric restaurant with a view of its own beach and water is located in a beautiful wooded area. The restaurant is neat and clean, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We had lunch here on a weekday Wednesday and were glad we had made a reservation – it was surprisingly busy, and the best tables were already occupied before noon. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service was quick. We chose the salad with crispy chicken and the toast with salmon – both dishes were generously filled and tasted excellent. Our dietary requirements, which we had communicated in advance, were also carefully taken into account. An additional plus is the view of the private beach, which looked clean and well-kept. For those who want to stay longer: you can relax there for €4,- entrance fee. In short: a must for those who love good food in a quiet, natural environment.

Fantastic place to eat out. But also to take a walk around the Geffense Plas and then have a drink. Restaurant is beautiful new and atmospherically decorated.

Super tasty and beautiful on a large pond!

The location and food is excellent. We ordered a variety of things, both for adults and kids, and all agreed that the quality of food was great. The service was friendly but slow. This may have just been the busiest time, but we had hungry 5 year olds and a 30+ minute wait after ordering was a bit too much. The other minus point was the beach and recreation access; this is not connected to the restaurant and you have to go out and around to go in. It also closes up at 1800 most days. So good for early visits, but around dinner time it gets harder, especially for younger children. All in all, I would recommend this place for adults, parents with older kids (8+), and people with patience. The food is well worth the wait, and in any other situation would probably not be an issue. The service was friendly and available. Just don't expect a terass with easy access to the beach or playground.

Been to the beach, had some music on and an employee comes to ask if I want to turn my music off. So glad I didn't sign up to work here...

Restaurant next to the lake market on Khafin Road

We have already heard many good reactions and have now experienced it ourselves. A beautiful metamorphosis to the current Strand Tien with a beautiful view over the Geffense Plas and the forest. The interior is cozy. Very friendly employees with excellent service. We had a delicious meal there in the evening. On to the summer to first walk there and then enjoy the terrace!

The food is good if you have a gastric reduction. Otherwise it is very little and far too little choice in soup. The tomato soup burns your throat and you can't eat it.

Dear Strand Tien Team, I’d like to share our recent experience, which left us quite disappointed and feeling unwelcome during our visit most especially because our parents are regulars who come in every week and sometimes several times. My wife and I with our parents arrived and asked for a table outside. A staff member looked at us briefly from a distance but then walked past us to take another guest’s order without a word, leaving us waiting awkwardly. Eventually, she returned to attend to us. We were given a table near the beach, which had a “reserved” sign on it, but we were told we could sit there. We appreciated this, especially as we mentioned we’d only be staying for about an hour. However, as the sun became too hot, we asked another waiter if we could move to a shaded spot. That waitress kindly helped us relocate, and we moved our elderly father in law who has difficulty walking to the new table. Shortly after settling in, the same waitress who welcomed us returned and told us we couldn’t sit there because it was reserved for other guests arriving “now.” We were asked to move again, with no attempt to offer a solution or compromise not even a suggestion of where to sit like figure it out yourself. We ended up sitting inside, and to our surprise, the table we were told was reserved remained unoccupied for the rest of our stay. When it came time to pay, we shared our disappointment with the waitress, highlighting how the situation could’ve been handled with more care. Her only response was that it was busy and the tables were reserved. But from the beginning, we had already been seated at a “reserved” table, and we had been clear we were not staying long. No acknowledgement of the poor hospitality , no apology nothing. Throughout the experience, we felt there was a lack of basic hospitality, flexibility, or any real effort to make us feel welcome. We hope this feedback is taken seriously, as it’s the service that ultimately shapes the guest experience, not just the view or the location.

You can turn something simple into something very tasty. Whether it's lunch or dinner, definitely recommended. The atmosphere has one star less for me because the appearance has a modern look that is not my taste. Unfortunately the food is not cheap, but go eat somewhere else. Price difference is small, taste makes a big difference.

Price quality of the Easter breakfast. 31.50. Very expensive for what was on the table. The tomato soup was too spicy for a child. I imagined a bit more of it. Too scanty.....

Something for everyone, sandy terrain, small wheels for good movement, enormous size, you need a lot of time to experience everything, it was 3 euros per person, wow, how busy, fun

Very nice tent. Sit by the lake and eat a good meal or work on the laptop. I really liked the burger! That's what I'll come back for. Apple pie less to my taste, but tasty in its kind :)

We used a social deal because we were curious about this new place. And we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, the 4-course surprise dinner was particularly tasty and the staff (even though some were still a bit inexperienced) were very friendly. In short, definitely visit it once.

Lovely terrace in the sun on the water + good food

Didn't feel welcome. Took a break here during work to walk. Then sat down for coffee. No lactose-free alternatives. Then no Wi-Fi to continue working. They are clearly not interested in guests who work or study remotely or just have a drink. I was constantly looked away (with my tea) as if something strange was going on. After I indicated that I did not want to order lunch, I got up. Too bad about this beautiful place. One of the few options to walk around Oss and then establish a business that is outdated and also very expensive (while you are not in a well-known region or city).

Well, I couldn't order anything. The weather had never been nice and it was busy. The waitress often passed us by and I walked to the front. I asked if I could also order there, "I think it has to be done by the waitress." I think the owner said. I had already noticed that! I looked away and they said they were busy. I understand, but it's so curt and stressful that it promises something when summer comes. This is only the first beautiful day. After waiting some more we decided to leave without eating or drinking. They have renovated it nicely, but next time I will bring my own food and drinks....

Ham on the bone is a few slices of heated ham. It couldn't be worse!

What a great ambiance both inside and outside. In sunny weather on the terrace overlooking the water. The food was incredibly tasty and just that little bit extra that made it really great!

Nice place to have coffee if you are in the area. It was a bit busy and it took quite a while before it became clear that the nougatine pastries were not available. There was still an apple. All in all a positive experience, but without pastries

It is that the view and furnishings are so beautiful. Service is mediocre. They don't have WiFi. If you look, it says 'guest network', which suggests that you can use it as a guest. But no. Otherwise the ATMs won't work? Never heard of it before, but okay, give the animal a different name. Prawn salad very sparse with mainly mixed lettuce from a bag and super salty prawns. That could be much better for that price. Then add something exclusive to it, but this was really not possible. Also almost no dressing. Everything looks well presented, but the quality really needs to be better! And you can also respond to lesser reviews. You learn the most from that

We had a lovely evening at Strand Tien. The venue is lovely, the styling is really nice. A warm and cozy place. We had a 5-course meal, each course was prepared with care. The plating was lovely, high quality with some errors here and there (in terms of equal plating portions, and some spots, but its not michelin, hence lovely). Also in terms of flavour. The place has great potential, the pricing was not bad either. (Especially via social deal). The service was also good. They also accommodate any dietary wishes/needs. The courses followed up really (surprisingly) fast, was really nice. Overall highly recommend the place.

Everything looks well taken care of, the only downside is that you have almost zero reception inside and there is no Wi-Fi option for visitors. Food was exceptionally good and so was the service, I thought a good tip was well deserved by the staff. It was also nice to see that the young staff are motivated to do their tasks. We will definitely come back.😎👍

Delicious lunch via Social Deal with a soup and choice of main course for €14.50. Cozy atmosphere on the water with many birds. Lots of windows and it is therefore nice and light. Service is friendly and without fuss. A bit noisy when it's busy. Enough parking space. Quite a bit of a walk. Even if you drop someone off at the door. Recommended! Enrichment for restaurants outside the center and where you do not pay parking costs.

Came here with my little dog after a bit of walking in the area to warm up with a coffee. You are not allowed to enter with a dog. Sat down outside. Wind blew under the cloth, no heaters or cushions or rugs. Coffee was cold within a few seconds... I wanted to have lunch but that didn't happen. You would say that you are allowed to enter with your dog at such a location. The waitress was nice, but of course she can't do anything about this policy. The owners might be able to use this as a tip. But I'll never come here again.

Top location and good quality of food. Service is fast and friendly, but once you've finished eating, they don't leave you alone. You have to order something every time or you will be constantly interrupted until you leave. I don't need to sit at the table for an extra hour without drinking, but every 5 minutes a waitress came to the table to ask if we wanted something else to drink and we found that very annoying. So we decided to leave. Too bad

Had a reasonable social deal menu at Strand Tien. Friendly service, but the thermostat temperature could be a bit higher. Wasn't pleasant.

The woman serving was unpleasant and even angry. I felt like an unwanted guest. The plates were decorated but there was no real food. More of a tasting? We paid 38 euros per portion. It is a very beautiful place, it's a shame, but I won't go there again.🫣

A sandwich with 1 slice of bread, slice of cheese, slice of ham and three fried eggs is soberly presented for €11, but you still feel a bit spoiled. Had two more cups of coffee. asked for the password but they did not want to give it because it would interfere with the ATM. Then I was asked to change seats in ten minutes because the table is reserved. I immediately left and paid €17 because I didn't think the treatment was right. Went in for half an hour. All in all a bad experience and not really customer friendly.

Nice restaurant in a beautiful location. Beautiful and stylishly decorated, friendly staff and exceptionally good cuisine! Easily accessible by car or bicycle. In the summer there is a nice terrace with a view of Geffense Plas.

Grumpy staff, can't handle criticism. Ordered double Bacardi and barely received Bacardi. It costs 10 euros from an 18 euro bottle, so you can easily get 25 doses this way. A lot of noise inside, unfortunately, not worth repeating. A lot needs to be done in terms of customer friendliness

Fantastic place at a swimming lake and near the forest. Enjoy walking all year round and enjoy swimming in the warm months. The restaurant has an outdoor terrace, but you can also enjoy the beautiful surroundings from inside. Dogs are allowed on the outdoor terrace, not inside. Excellent lunch, dinner and drinks menu. Cozy furnished in living room style. Friendly staff and fast service. A nice addition to Oss, whether you want to have lunch, dinner or drinks. Both in summer and winter.
