Love this place always a great landmark to stop at outside is a lovley seated area looking on tho the canal and station. Had a lovley tomatoes soup and crusty bread in the cold weather with a cappuccino:)

Food good, not excellent, we had a Wayu burger, which is surely not what it is for €18, it was dry but passable. All the extras that the lady offers you are charged, which is also written in the letter. Beautiful views from the canal, 2 beers, 2 beers and extras €73

Nice atmosphere, good friendly service, great location. Martini expensive with lots of ice and just a hint of martini. Hamburger is pretty average and every extra costs a lot. Bun wasn't toasted. We expected more and better for the money. Even here in expensive Amsterdam. Too bad! Because of the negative price-performance ratio, probably not again.

Been living in Amsterdam for 6 years now and always saw this place as a tourist trap and boy was I right! Thought I’d treat myself to a Wagyu burger and for 18 euros I expected something great. What I got was (what I can only imagine) frozen patty that was over cooked and tasteless. Fries were not included and cost 5.50. Even though extremely overpriced the beer was good. Service was friendly but that is pretty much the best that can be said about this place :(

Felt the dining experience was rushed.

I only stopped here on 2 evenings for the fabulous view of the city lights and the beautiful canal and stunning facade of centraal (station) a glass of wine the first night, out on the veranda, under heaters and umbrella, the next night I had mint tea, fresh mint in a mug of boiling water, delicious, but also €7 , you pay for the atmosphere and location.

The restaurant is in a great location but I found the food a little expensive for the quality. Afterwards the atmosphere is very cool.

The service is so BAD. I ordered orange juice and the glass was less than half. I don't advise anyone to come.

A beautiful venue to have a dinner with your partner or friends. The staff is friendly and polite. The food is amazing. Good balance between quality and price.

They only want 4 or more ppl coming in the door , just left the place , we must of had the fastest made meal ever , it was clear from the start they didn’t want 2 ppl going in there … years I’ve been going to Amsterdam and wanted to go there for a meal , I WILL NOT GO THERE the next time I’m in the DAM .

Staff are appalling. Incredibly rude and unpleasant. Brought my vegetarian friend a meat burger when she ordered a veggie burger. Did not even apologise when we brought it to their attention, they just laughed at us. The steak was also bloody when we asked for medium rare. Food was generally very overpriced- fries not included in €16 burger and even had to pay €1.50 extra per topping, even cheese! All in all an infuriating experience that left us feeling as if we had fallen into a big tourist trap

Grasshopper is in a great location and easy to find. It was busy, but we were able to get a table without a booking no problem. The food was good enough in my opinion, price was a little higher than some may expect but the location allows for this it's it's a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

The glasses were dirty and when we asked for new drinks we found out that they just whiped the same glasses and served them back to us. Very bad. There was also a very bad smell throught the whole building. Absolutely awful

What a gem of a place! Fantastic food, exceptional service and such a good vibe and location. The team here can’t do enough for you and are on it in every way. Definitely worth a visit and would return when we revisit

The Grasshopper is a very cozy pub with a charming Irish-style atmosphere. The tables are well-spaced, and the armchairs are incredibly comfortable. The menu offers a wide range of options, from English-style breakfasts to unique burgers. The English breakfast was absolutely delicious! Crispy bacon, flavorful sausages, perfectly cooked eggs, and, of course, the classic sweet English baked beans that brought everything together perfectly. I highly recommend it, whether for breakfast or other meals. Plus, it offers a stunning view of the canal and the historic center.

Had a drink here last weekend. Staff seems quite "hostile". A look of "what are you doing here?" They also continuously walk around the tables. Gives a nervous feeling. Staff doesn't look friendly either. There was even one who was serving with his hoodie on!!!

The Wagyu burger doesn't taste better than a classic burger, I was not able to tell any difference. The fries are not included in the burger's price, which is already 18 € They cost 5,5€. The fries were not very good, probably not fresh potatoes as we're used to in Belgium. The waiters were not friendly, the place seemed cosy but a group of german men were screaming all over the place and nobody gave a fork about it. I would definitely not recommend this place, I think you can get a much better meal for the same range of price.

There is a good atmosphere both inside and outside

the waiters are rude and cold. We had two burgers, one with meat and the other veggie. The veg was really not good, 2 veg steaks, a tomato and a very dry pickle, all that. It really wasn't good for both of them. I do not recommend

I've been waiting a long time for my chocolate cake and they brought me the coffee so early that it became cold.... only after 30 minutes did they tell me that in the end the chocolate cake wasn't there.

The building alone is worth a visit. It is beautifully illuminated, especially in the evening. The service is really great!!! You may be proficient in English, but the waiter will do his best to help you. And the cocktails are fantastic 👍🏼

Tourist trap, a beer costs €9, the food has no taste and takes a long time. The workers are exploited daily, they have too much pressure and hence they treat you badly. Thanks to the waiter Javier who always served us with a smile.

Good, nice place, nice and attentive servers, but not great in terms of food and super expensive for what it is. It's true that the Dutch don't shine for their gastronomy but here, we're still talking about simple dishes like pasta or fish & chips, not requiring much preparation or crazy elaboration.

Having eaten on the terrace in mid-August, I don't have very good memories of it. The waiters look stupid as if they are being disturbed by being there. They are very noisy when they clear the plates which they throw into a bin at the service counter with the utensils and glasses, which makes a deafening noise. Clearly, they're on cocaine. The pork ribs were too dry. The pina colada had no alcohol. The schnitzel was good and generous. In short, a disappointment in general.

Perfect place to eat what the Dutch eat. Intuitive, attentive and friendly waiters. The mix goes out, what a food plank of various meats, the famous meat croquettes, burger... . Well watered with Affligem blonde. To repeat!

Mandatory visit in Amsterdam for its singularity

Refused to serve Tap water despite being a legal requirement of a restaurant that sells alcohol.

Overall disappointing. We booked for a table of 12 but when we arrived they clearly were not expecting us. The waiter that was meant to be looking after us told us to stand by some bins as our table wasn’t ready. He was abrupt and rude with us from our arrival. The food was good however when we came to paying he was clearly trying to rush us and was irritated when we asked to pay for our meals separately (I appreciate that not everywhere does this but we asked if it was ok at the start). Once we had all paid our share of the bill we were informed that there was still an outstanding 200 something euro. After looking at the bill it turns out we had been charged for several items that we did not ordered. After highlighting this with our waiter he slammed €60 on the table and walked off. I had to then speak again to a lady that I am assuming is the manger to sort out the rest of the bill. I have never written a review before but I have never received service this bad before either. It ruined our last meal out as a group.

A nice place to visit, although there are better ones. The food seems to be fine, the service fast. No receipt was given though. You can visit it once if you have not any other alternative.

Pretty expensive but oh well Had steak, fries, cola, burger and a berry cocktail and paid €70. Waiters don't speak German. Food was ok, but not special. Service was very quick and I found it a bit of a shame that we had already been cleared away and asked if we wanted to pay because the glass had just been empty 😞. Felt like mass processing

What a great place to sit on a patio, enjoy a view of central Amsterdam, and, of course, people watch! We enjoyed a couple of appetizers with a lovely bottle of white wine. The appies were good and the wine even better :-). Our server was wonderful! She chatted with us and answered some questions for us about things to do and see while we were in Amsterdam. She gets 5*. This location is also superb for picking up a taxi or an Uber right outside their doors.

Honestly looks incredible and so inviting but we soon realised that was all it was, me and hubby wanted a cute date night but no never again, we sat and watched as a family beside us had extra added to their bill which was quickly changed, table across from us they had forgotten a burger which the poor young guy had been waiting for atleat 15 minutes after the parents had gotten and almost finished there own food. The food was alright the lasagne tasted like a frozen one and my seabass has 2 bits if seabass and some broccoli no chips nothing we ended up going and getting a kebab there was very little to the food only good thing I could say is the cocktails were beautiful although 14 euro is rough for a cocktail of that size.

Definitely will come back, best view the food was the best I have tried in Amsterdam. That’s not all , the waiter help us definitely love he’s job ! All the tables were very happy with the service. Special thanks for the great and friendly service for Ivan ! We love you

This is one of the best places to eat in Amsterdam. I would recommend it to anyone in town. Ivan was fantastic and ensured my meals were gluten free as requested. The drinks and food came out quickly and I loved the view as well!

The food was great we had a pleasant experience there. Views from the terrace were amazing, and the staff was friendly and keen to help us. The staff worked hard and Swift to let everybody enjoy their evening. The beers were great the prices were regular not expensive but not cheap either just normal for the centre of amsterdam but maybe for the view and for the experience it's also normal to give a little extra money.

Emplacement sympathique mais catastrophique au niveau du service. Après avoir pris commande, on attend. À plusieurs reprises le serveur nous présente des plats ou boissons qui ne nous sont pas destinés. Erreur sur erreur. Le 1er plat arrive…avec les couverts et j’attends le mien un long moment.. toujours rien n’arrive. J’appelle le serveur. Il avait pris en compte qu’un plat. Il reprend tous les couverts . Je recommande mon plat et me dit d’attendre à nouveau 10/15 mn. J’attends 15 mn avant que mon plat arrive enfinnn mais sans couverts. Même pas l’eau demandée. Service lamentable 👎 Aucun professionnalisme. Ma fille entre temps a déjà terminé de manger et moi au final mange toute seule.C’est lamentable. Restaurant A FUIR. Piège à touristes.

Long wait for a piece of grilled salmon with fresh vegetables (non-existent, a few leeks and onions, not even seasonal vegetables) and a burger asked for rare and arrived well cooked. Extra fries as well as cheese, at 18.50 per burger it's a bit mean.

Stoppet by for drinks. We asked for an irish Coffee, hot chocolate and a 7-up. We got a Sprite, hot Cocoa and spiked Coffee. We got a tiny Coffee and whisky with a huge amount of whipped cream from a can. The lack of sugar made is taste awful, and the whipped cream from af can did not help at all. Well.. i don't know how a 7-up and a Sprite is confused. We ordered of the menu. It will continue to be a mystery. When a menu says hot chocolate, i excpect hot chocolate and not hot cocoa. I am aware that it is often confused, but it is no excuse. The service was ok. But they were bored and ran around yelling at each other.. from a guests perspective it was uncomfartable. The location was perfect. We could sit outside and look at the water. It was nice.

Central. View out to the canal. Outdoor seating. We tried mussels, Fish & chips and Spaghetti bolognese. Everything tasted good. The kids drank cola and we adults drank white wine and beer. A bit pricy but on par with similar places in Amsterdam.

Forced to order one drink per person even if you are not thirsty. There were 4 of us and we had to order 4 drinks. Supposedly the service was complete. Water was much more expensive than soda. One of the famous Restaurant in Amsterdam. Always a pleasure to have a table. Service is exzellent and very friendly. A special is to have the original Budweiser. Alter a longlife Day in Amsterdam the best place to be, to get in and get some very good Food.

Great ambience, tasty salad, but way too expensive. Salad without bread, even after asking. Service friendly and friendly (makes fun of guests) and careful - clever. When billing with a credit card, 10 euros were added (from 45 to 55 euros) with the justification "for me"....

The food is just ok, the service is horrible. They have no clue about what was ordered. The staff is racist. I wouldn't advise anyone to go there.

Not much of an atmosphere but the place was mostly empty, even at 8.30 in the evening, although most of the tables were reserved. We only had cocktails, no food. There were only 3 types to choose from and several varieties of mohito. My mojito was made with strawberry syrup not fresh strawberries and we couldn't taste the alcohol in either drink. Disappointing and expensive at €15 per drink.

Outdoor aperitif with a beautiful view of the canal and in front of the beautiful station, excellent service, average food and drink

Spontaneously had a bite to eat here during our visit to Amsterdam. Service took very long, I was constantly cleaning/clearing the table next to us, but did not ask what we wanted to drink. At some point we received a menu, we wanted to have another bite to eat. After about 10 minutes the menu was picked up again with the question: I guess you just want something to drink? Finally ordered a burger. Strange concept, a burger with basically nothing on it and then having to pay 1.50 per topping. Fries are not standard with the burger, but must be ordered additionally for 5.50 euros, which is unusual. Had no further word from the staff. Burger was fine, just a shame there was no sauce on it. Finally settled with a tip (to debunk the stereotype of young people), after which the service turned into all friendliness. In short: strange concept of the toppings and strange that fries have to be ordered separately, service could be a little friendlier, but otherwise the food was fine.

This institution of Amsterdam has gone to the swanny! So many memories of this wonderful place in it's hayday now it's the pits of a bar in Amsterdam. Mike Skinner must agree with me!

I didn't get the lemon I asked for, the waiter said he would bring it...he didn't

The waiter who served us, tried to cheat us. He bring us the receipt in which it was added two Merlot root glas which we never consumed. The additional amount we were called to pay was 11,50 . A clear fraud. The excuse was that the relevant drinks had been left (how come) in the machine from the previous clients. As a buffer in the machine's memory I guess. Silly excuses from silly people. Take care, they can do it to you too.
